It would be a tight game through the first quarter as the Griffins would have a slim 9-8 lead. In the second quarter, the defenses would stay tall and the low scoring would continue with a Griffins 8-5 quarter and have a 17-13 lead as they went to the intermission. When the teams would return for the third quarter the Griffins would their offense and go on a surge for the quarter with a 16-6 and take a 33-19 lead into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Nighthawks would do their best to get back in the game but it would come up short with a 13-11 quarter as the Griffins would get the 44-32 victory. It would be the third game on the day of the second day of action at the 2022 Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and as the Saranac Chiefs and Seton Catholic Knights would meet up. The game would start off well for the Chiefs as they would have a 10-4 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Chiefs would step up their offense with a 15-3 quarter and take a 25-7 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter it would be more of the same as the Chiefs would have an 18-5 quarter and take a 43-12 lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter with the outcome of the game already determined the Griffins would win the quarter 7-6 although the Chiefs would hold on for the 49-19 victory. With the win, the Saranac Chiefs would win the Girls' portion of the Holiday Classic and move their record to 6-1 on the season as the Knights fall to 2-5 on the season. Gallery

Seton Catholic's Aiden Pearl (22) and Trevor Harris rise up for the tip to get the overtime period under way. It would be the second game of the day at the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic as the Seton Catholic Knights would meet up with the Crown Point Panthers. It would look like a couple of evenly matched teams through the first quarter as the Panthers would have the slim 11-9 lead. In the second quarter, the Panthers would show their might with a 16-8 quarter and take a 27-17 lead into the intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Knights would start to make their comeback as they would win the quarter 14-12 but still trail 39-31 as they headed to the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Knights would step up their defense and have a 10-2 quarter and force the overtime tied at 41. In that overtime it would be tight throughout as the Panthers would win 7-5 and get the 48-46 victory. In the winning effort, the Panthers went 1-1 at the Holiday Classic and are 7-1 on the season as the Knights went 0-2 at the Holiday Classic and are 2-5 on the season. Gallery

Saranac's Caden Clark (24) with the one-handed shot along the baseline for the score. It would be the last game of the 2022 Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and it would pit the Saranac Chiefs and Boquet Valley Griffins with the winner being named the boy portions champion. The game would start off well for the Chiefs as they would be on fire and have a 20-3 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Chiefs would stay hot but the Griffins would find their stroke the Chiefs would win the quarter 20-16 and take a 40-19 lead into halftime. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Chiefs would continue their hot hand with a 23-4 quarter and take a 63-23 lead into the 4th quarter. In that 4th quarter with the winning a forgone conclusion the Chiefs would win the quarter 16-7 and get the convincing 70-39 victory. With the win, the Saranac Chiefs win the boy's portion of the 2022 Holiday Classic making it a clean sweep for the Saranac Chiefs at the Holiday Classic the boy's team would go to 4-5 on the season and the Griffins fall to 3-3 on the year. It would feature a team from the Champlain Valley and one from the Mountain Valley inside section vii as the Saranac Chiefs would meet up with the Boquet Valley Griffins. The game would start off well for the Chiefs as they would jump out to the 12-4 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Chiefs would start to pull away in the game with a 26-8 quarter and take a 38-12 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half the Griffins would have no answer for the Chiefs as the Chiefs would win the half 37-18 and hold on for the 75-30 victory. In the winning effort, the Chiefs would go to 5-0 on the season and take on the Seton Catholic Knights tomorrow (December 28th) as they will go for the crown of the 2022 Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and the Boquet Valley Griffins fall to 5-3 season. It would be the last game of the day on the opening night of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic as it would pit the Peru Nighthawks and Seton Catholic Knights. It would be an even match through although on the low-scoring end to the point where the Nighthawks would lead 5-4 after the first quarter. Although in the second quarter the Knights would find their shooting rhyme and have a 13-4 quarter to take the 17-9 lead into the locker room. When the teams came out of the locker room the Nighthawks would flip the script with an 11-2 quarter into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Nighthawks would need some last-second magic to keep the game alive as they would score in the last seconds of the game to force overtime tied at 30. In the overtime frame, the Nighthawks would find their offense and pull away at the end with a 12-6 quarter to secure the 42-36 victory. In the winning effort, the Peru Nighthawks will have a shot to be crowned the 2022 Holiday Classic champion as they will take on the Boquet Valley Griffins as they go to 3-2 on the season and the Knights fall to 2-4 on the season. Seton Catholic's Oliver Hughes (10) takes flight among the trees and gets over Saranac's Garrett Kiroy (32) as he would lay it off the window. It would be the opening game of the 2022 Clinton Community College Holiday Classic as the Saranac Chiefs would match up with the Seton Catholic NYSPHSAA Section VII action. The game would start off very well for the Chiefs as they would shut out the Knights in the opening quarter and have an 11-0 lead. In the second quarter, the Knights would get on the board and do their best to get back in the game as the Chiefs would lead the quarter by a slim 14-11 margin and take a 25-11 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter the Knights would put out a great effort but the early whole would be too much to overcome as they would win the quarter 15-13 but still trail 38-26 as they entered the fourth quarter. In the 4th quarter, the Chiefs would keep firing to keep their big lead with a 15-13 quarter to secure the 53-39 victory. In the winning effort, the Chiefs go to 3-5 on the season and will take on the Crown Point Panthers tomorrow (December 28th) for the Holiday Classic title as the Seton Catholic Knights fall to 2-4 on the season. Boquet Valley's Carson Leibeck (15) takes flight on the breakaway off the turnover and lays it off the window for the score. It would be the third game of the day on the opening day of the 2022 Clinton Community College Holiday Classic as the Crown Point Panthers and the Boquet Valley Griffins in a rematch of last season's section vii class d finals and it would be seen way throughout the game. It would be a very even game from the start so even that it would be tied at 10 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, there still would be no separation as they would tie at twelve for the quarter and go into the intermission tied at 22. When the teams came back for the third quarter it would be seen that the Panthers had regrouped their approach and would have a 22-14 quarter and take a 44-36 lead into the final quarter. In that final quarter, it would be low scoring but the Panthers would win the quarter at 9-6 and hold on for the 53-42 victory. In the winning effort, the Panthers would now take on the Saranac Chiefs on December 28th as they would go for the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic title and go to 6-1 on the season as the Griffins fall to 3-2 on the season. It would be the last game of the opening day of the third annual Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and it would feature the Boquet Valley Griffins and the Peru Nigthawks in another classic Champlain Valley/Mountain Valley classic. The Nighthawks would get off to a soaring start in the game and have an 18-5 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the teams would play a more evenly matched eight minutes with the Nighthawks having a slim 11-8 quarter and taking a 29-13 lead into the halftime break. When the teams returned for the second half the Nighthawks would have shutdown defense and win the quarter 15-1 and take a 44-14 lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the teams would play a little more evenly but the Nighthawks would still get the 15-11 quarter and secure the 59-25 victory. In the winning effort, the Nighthawks would even up their record on the season at 4-4 and will play Malone Huskies in the second game of the classic while Boquet Valley falls to 4-4 and will meet up with the Saranac Spartans. It would be the second game of the day of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and we would have the Malone Huskies and Saranac Spartand to tip-off. The Spartans would get off to a hot start against the Malone Huskies with a 21-9 opening quarter. In the second quarter, the Huskies would do their best to not let the lead expand as it would be a 15-11 quarter for the Spartans and take a 36-20 lead into the halftime break. When the teams returned for the third quarter though the Spartans would put the clamps on the Huskies and take control of the game with an 18-6 quarter and have a 54-26 lead headed into the fourth quarter. Where the teams would have an even quarter at ten a piece but the Spartans would get the convincing 64-36 victory. In the winning effort, Breena Ducatte would lead the way with 31 points as the Spartans go to 4-1 on the season and will face the Boquet Valley Griffins on the second day of the tournament while the Malone Huskies fall to 2-1 on the season and will get the Peru Nighthawks. The game would start off well for the visiting Vikings as they would have an 18-13 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the teams would stay tight although the Vikings would win the quarter slightly at 10-8 and take a 28-21 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half it would be more of the same for the Vikings as the Hornets would do their best to stay within striking distance with a 14-9 quarter for the Vikings as they would have a 42-30 lead as they went into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the offenses would step up on both sides as the Vikings would win the quarter at 19-12 and secure the 61-42 win. When the teams returned for the second half the Eagles came out firing and it looked like the Hornets were having issues getting the game going again as the Eagles would win the third 20-12 and take the 52-38 lead into the fourth quarter. The first quarter would definitely be a feeling-out period as it would be locked up at eight at the end of the first quarter. Although in the second quarter the Chiefs would start to find their stride as they would go on a 16-4 run for the quarter and take a 24-12 lead into the locker room. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Hornets would try their best to get back in the game with a run of their own in the quarter with a 15-8 quarter and trail 32-27 into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Chiefs would get back on track and hold the Hornets in check with an 11-10 quarter and secure the 43-37 victory. In the winning effort, Sebastian Dandrow-Pellerin would lead the way with 11 points as the Chiefs gets their first win of the season. Then in the second quarter the Saints would come charging back with a 19-10 quarter and have a slim 27-26 lead at the intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Cardinals would find there shoot again with a 16-12 quarter and take the 42-39 lead into the final quarter. In the final quarter the Saints would find there shoot and have a slightly better quarter at 21-16 which would give the Saints the 60-58 win. It would be the NYSPHSAA Class D Girl's Basketball regionals finals that would take place between the #3 Hartford Tanagers and the #6 Boquet Valley Griffins from Clinton Community College. The #3 Tanagers would get off to a good start and take an 18-12 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Tanagers would start to pull away from the Griffins with a 15-6 quarter and take a sizeable lead of 33-18 in the intermission. When the teams came back for the second half and third quarter the Griffins would start to find their game and would cut into the deficit with a 17-12 quarter and trail 45-35 as they head into the fourth quarter. In that fourth, it would not be without drama as the Griffins would get as close as four points but just not have the firepower down the stretch and have a 16-12 quarter and fall short 57-51. With the win, the Hartford Tanagers would punch their ticket to the NYSPHSAA Class D Girls Basketball final four next weekend at Hudson Valley Community College and the Boquet Valley Griffins season comes to an end with an 18-6 season and a top ten ranking in the state. The Cougars would start off hot and quick with a 12-7 lead after the first quarter. It would be the first Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Basketball championship of the weekend as the #1 Moriah Vikings would face off with the #2 Ausable Valley Patriots for the class c championship and punch their ticket to the NYSPHSAA Tournament. The game would not start off good for the defending championing Moriah Vikings as they would start the game off down 11-2 but would start to come back as they would finish the quarter 8-6 and trail 17-10 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, they would get the hot a hand going on a 15-10 quarter and trail by a slim 27-25 at the intermission. In the third quarter, they would take the lead on the strength of some good defense with 12-9 quarter and take the small 37-36 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Vikings offense would continue to stay hot and would finish off the Patriots with an 18-13 quarter and secure the 55-49 victory. It would be the second championship of the day as the Boquet Valley Griffins would be looking to sweep the Class D crown as they would take on the Seton Catholic Knights in the Section VII Class D title game. It was looking good for the Griffins after the first quarter for the sweep as they would have the 15-9 lead. In the second quarter, the offense for the Seton Catholic Knights would start to set in as they would have a 21-13 quarter and take the slim 30-28 lead at the break. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Knights would start to pull away in the game as they would double up the Griffins with a 16-8 quarter and take a 46-36 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Griffins would try their best to stay in the game but they wouldn't have an answer with a 13-12 quarter for the Knights and secure the 59-48 win. It would be the last Section VII championship of the weekend as the upset-minded #5 Northeastern Clinton Cougars would do battle with the #2 Plattsburgh Hornets. The Cinderella season would like would continue for the Cougars as they would have the 15-11 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Hornets offense would come alive with an 18-10 quarter and have a 29-25 lead at the intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter the offense would stay hot as they would put together a 20-11 quarter and take the 49-36 lead into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Hornets would put the final touches on the game with a 16-8 quarter and secure the 66-44 victory and the 2022 Section VII Class B championship. In the second quarter, the Griffins would keep their top-notch defense up with a 13-4 quarter and have big 24-6 lead at the intermission. It would be the first championship of championship weekend as the #1 Northern Adirondack Bobcats would do battle with the #2 Ausable Valley Patriots for the Section VII Class C Championship. The first quarter would be very low scoring as there seemed like there was a lid on the basket as the Bobcats would have a low scoring 6-2 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Bobcats would start to find a little easier as they would win the quarter 11-5 and take a 17-7 lead into the intermission. The break would do the Patriots will as they would come back with a good offense output and a 14-11 quarter but would trail in the game 25-21. In the fourth quarter, the Patriots would do their best to cut into the lead but the deficit from the second quarter would be too much as they would win the quarter 15-14 although the Bobcats would hold on for the 42-36 victory. In the winning effort, the Northern Adirondack Bobcats advance to the NYSPHSAA Class C Girl's Tournament and will play Madrid-Waddington on March 9th at SUNY Canton as the Ausable Valley Patriots season come to end at 14-5. Schroon Lake’s Ian Pelkey turns to drive toward the basket after getting behind Seton’s Aiden Pearl. The Seton Catholic boys basketball team earned a postseason victory Wednesday with a 53-41 over Schroon Lake in the Class D semifinal.
The Knights looked to set the tone early, maintaining a lead through most of the first quarter led by 7 points from Ashton Guay, but a three-point shot from Carter Hart late in the quarter gave the Wildcats an 11-9 advantage at the first buzzer.
Seton pulled away in the second quarter, with Guay, Alex Coupal, and Aiden Pearl each scoring five or more as the Knights outscored the Wildcats 17-4 in the quarter.
The Knights expanded their lead in the third, as Pearl posted 8 points to nearly match Schroon Lake's team total of 9 in the frame. Isaiah Pelkey's 12-point fourth-quarter performance was unable to close the gap, and Seton sealed it for the home victory.
Guay led the Knights' scoring with 20 points, followed by Pearl's 18. Pelkey's late burst in the comeback attempt saw him end with 25 points in the game.
With the win, Seton advanced to the Class D final against Boquet Valley Saturday at Clinton Community College.

Plattsburgh High School freshman Bailey Hewson attempts to cut into the middle through the defense of Northeastern Clinton's senior Elisabeth Prairie and sophomore Desiree Dubois. Northeastern Clinton rode a strong second and third quarter performance to a 49-29 victory over Plattsburgh High School Friday in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference action.
Both teams got off to a slow start, with neither scoring before the midpoint of the opening quarter. The Hornets got on the board first with a pair of free throws from junior Calli Fitzwater, but it was the Cougars who ended the opening frame with a 9-5 lead.
Northeastern Clinton pulled away in the second, led by a nine-point quarter for sophomore Desiree Dubois.
The score at the halftime break saw the Cougars with a 21-9 lead. Plattsburgh junior Cora Long put up nine points of her own in the third quarter, but the Hornets were never able to pull back the Cougars' lead.
Dubois led Northeastern Clinton's offense with 20 points, ahead of 13 points from sophomore Bailee Lafountain. Long's 16 points led the Hornets in the loss, followed by Fitzwater with 6 points.
Both Dubois and Long knocked down four shots each from the three-point arc. Gallery

It would be the final regular-season home game for the Plattsburgh State Cardinals as they would host the Brockport State Golden Eagles in SUNYAC Women's Basketball action. The game would not start off the greatest for the home Cardinals as the Golden Eagles would jump out to a 14-9 through the first quarter of the game. Then in the second quarter, the Golden Eagles started to pull away with a 21-14 quarter and take a 35-23 lead into the locker room. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Golden Eagles would really start to put the game away with a 13-1 quarter and take a 48-24 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Golden Eagles would put the final touches on the game with an 11-7 quarter and finish off the Cardinals with a 59-31 victory. Plattsburgh's Charlotte Steria (23) is in flight for the breakaway layup off the window. It would be an interconference game this even as the Schroon Lake Wildcats from the Mountain Valley Conference would travel to Plattsburgh and take on the Hornets from the Champlain Valley Conference. The game would start off great for the road Wildcats as they would jump out to a 15-5 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Hornets would start to get their legs and shut down the Wildcats with an 8-3 quarter although they would still trail 18-13 at the intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter the teams would be fairly evenly matched as the Hornets would win slightly 13-11 with the Wildcats still leading 29-27 as they headed to the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Hornets would start to run out of gas and the wildcats would get 14-9 quarter and a 43-36 victory. It would be a non-conference affair as the Malone Huskies would travel to Plattsburgh and take on the Hornets for a little north country pride. The game would start off great for the home Hornets as they would jump out to a quick 23-8 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Huskies would start to get their stroke going and tie the Hornets for the quarter at 17 as the Hornets take a 40-25 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter both had made adjustments but it would be another fairly even quarter at 16-15 Huskies but the Hornets would still lead big at 55-41 as they head to the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Hornets would put the final touches on the Huskies with a 20-10 quarter and secure the 75-51 win. In the winning effort, the Hornets go to 9-3 and the Huskies fall to 6-3 on the season. Gallery

Once again the Cardinals would be in a fight and it would be tight through the first half and the Cardinals would have a slim 38-37 lead at the break. In the second half, the Cardinals would do their best to pull away but they would come shortly as the Blue Devils would drain a three-pointer at the buzzer and the Cardinals would fall 76-75. When the teams would return for the second half it would be more of the same as no one could break away and tie for the half at 40 each and the Cardinals would hold on for the 77-75 win. In the fourth quarter, the Cardinals would do their best to get back in the game with another 21-18 quarter. Before the game started the Hornets would honor their seven seniors on the team. The home Hornets would come out hot and breakout to a big lead with a 23-9 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Hornets would stay hot with a 15-7 quarter and take a 42-16 lead into the intermission. The third quarter would be the evenest quarter of the night as the Hornets would win the quarter at 15-12 and take a 57-28 lead into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the teams would still play tight but the early deficit was too much as the Hornets win the quarter 15-10 and secure the 72-38 victory. It would be the home opener of the 2022 portions of the season as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals host the Cortland State Red Dragons in SUNYAC action. It would not start off good for the home Cardinals as they would be down early and big after the first quarter 18-5 to the Red Dragons. The in the second quarter the Red Dragons would be a blur to the Cardinals with a 30-13 quarter and the Cardinals would trail 48-18 at the break. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Red Dragons would stay hot with a 17-7 quarter and have a 65-25 lead to head into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Cardinals wouldn't give up the fight and win the quarter 23-16. Although the Red Dragons would hold on for the convincing win at 81-48. as the Cardinals go to 3-8 on the season and the Red Dragons go to 9-2 on the season. Gallery

The game would start off good for the home Nighthawks as they would be doubling up the Sentinels after the first quarter at 15-6. In the second quarter, the Nighthawks would continue to pull away with a 13-3 quarter and take a 28-9 lead into the intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Nighthawks would keep their foot on the gas with a 15-6 quarter to extend their lead to 43-15 as they head into the fourth. In that fourth quarter, the Nighthawks would lighten up with the outcome, not in question with a 13-10 quarter, and secure the 56-25 win. The game would get off to a fast start as the Hornets would jump out to a 21-11 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Hornet's offense would go a little quiet as the Red Storm would win the quarter 9-6 but the Hornets would have a 26-20 lead at the break. The Hornets would find their game again when they came back with a 13-9 quarter to extend their lead to 49-29 to head to the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Red Storm would give it everything they had to make a come back with a 13-5 quarter but it would fall short as the Hornets would get the 54-42 win. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Knights would have some fight in them and win the quarter 11-2 and retake the lead at 21-19. In the fourth quarter, the Beaver's defense would completely shut down the Knights with a 13-0 quarter and get the come from behind win at 32-21.
