Boquet Valley's Ella Lobdell (15) celebrates with the Griffins faithful as she enters the 1,000-points club. It would be a matchup inside the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference of Section VII Girl's Basketball in Plattsburgh as the Seton Catholic Knights would host the Boquet Valley Griffins in a rematch of the Section VII Class D Finals from a year ago that took place about 5 miles down the road. The game would be low-scoring through the opening eight minutes as the home Knights would have the 9-8 lead. In the second quarter, the scoring would stay low as the defense would still stand tall as the Griffins would win the quarter 9-6 and take the 17-15 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter it would be another great defensive quarter as the Knights would get the 6-5 quarter but the Griffins would still have the 22-21 lead as they went to the fourth. In the fourth quarter, there would be a milestone that would be reached as Ella Lobdell would be the newest member of the 1,000-point club and from there it would seem like both teams had a major weight lifted off them as the Griffins would end up winning the quarter 16-11 which would be half the team's points in that quarter alone. The Griffins would get the 38-32 win and go to 12-7 on the season as they head into the playoffs as the Knights fall to 9-11 on the season. Gallery

Seton Catholic's Gabriella Conti (20) rises for the layup for two of her eleven points on the night. It would be a matchup inside the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference in Plattsburgh as the Bolton Jaguars would travel up to take on the Seton Catholic Knights in Girl's Basketball action. It would be a slow start out of the gate as the Seton Catholic Knights would hold just the 8-1 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the offense would start to heat out for the Knights as they would have a 10-4 quarter and take the 18-5 lead into the intermission. When the teams would return for the third quarter the defenses would still stay on top as the Knights would have a 8-4 quarter and take the 26-9 lead into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter with it looking like the Knights would have the game in hand the Jaguars would do their best to get back in the game with an 11-8 quarter but the nights would hold on for the 34-20 victory. In the winning effort, the Seton Catholic Knights get back to 500 on the season as they are now 9-9 while the Bolton Eagles suffer just their third loss on the season and are 14-3. Seton Catholic's Grace Trombley (12) takes it and curls it around the Wildcats defender after she retrieves the defensive rebound. It would be a match-up inside the Mountain Valley Conference of Section VII as the Seton Catholic Knights would host the Schroon Lake Wildcats in Girl's Basketball. It would be a tight and low scoring through the first quarter as the Knights would hold the slim 6-5 lead after the first 8 minutes of the game. In the second quarter, we would have a complete repeat of the first quarter as the Knights would once again lead the quarter 6-5 and then take the slim 12-10 lead into the intermission break. When the teams returned for the third quarter after the break the Knights would bring their offense with them and win the quarter 14-6 as they got hot and would have a 26-16 lead heading into the final quarter. In that final quarter the Wildcats would do everything they could try to get back in the game and their defense would shut out the Knights in the quarter but the Wildcats could only get eight points and the Knights would hold on for the 26-24. In the winning effort, the Knights would get back to 500 on the season at 2-2 as they head into their game next week with Chazy. The Seton Catholic Knights crowned the 2023 Section VII Class D champions with the overtime 43-37 victory over the Boquet Valley Griffins. It would be game three of championship Sunday and we would be back on the girl's side of the ball as the #1 Seton Catholic Knights would meet up with the #2 Boquet Valley Griffins to decide the winner of Section VII Class D action. The game would start odd good for the Knights as they would get off to the early lead as would double up the Griffins with a 16-8 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the tables would flip and the Griffins would fight their way back in the game with good defense as they would win the quarter 8-4 but the Knights would have the 20-16 lead at the break. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Griffins would continue their comeback with an 11-8 quarter making it a one-point lead for the Knights at 28-27 as they enter the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter the two teams would fight back and forth as they would battle for the crown and with under 5 seconds left in the game Abby Schwobel would score to tie the game at 34 and force overtime. In the overtime, the Knights would be just a bit more than the Griffins as they would win the frame 9-3 to secure the 43-37 victory. With the win, the Seton Catholic Knights advance to the NYSPHSAA Class D Tournament and will take on Notre Dame-Bishop from Section II for the right to head to the NYSPHSAA Final Four. Gallery

Northern Adirondack's (5) with the jump out of bounds to save the ball and keep the offenses going. It would be an interconference matchup in section vii as the Seton Catholic Knights from the Mountain Valley Conference would host the Northern Adirondack Bobcats from the Champlain Valley Conference. The game would start off slow as both teams were looking to find their shot as the Bobcats would have the 7-5 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the defenses would still be the game's name as the Knights would win the quarter with a 10-7 and take the slim 15-14 lead at the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half the Bobcats would find the touch with the shot but the Knights would not have the luck as the Bobcats would win the quarter 13-4 and take the 27-19 lead into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Knights still had no luck with the basketball as the Bobcats would win the quarter 14-5 to get the 41-24 win. In the winning effort, the Bobcats would improve their record to 11-1 while the Knights would fall to 8-6 on the season. Saranac's Molly Denis (10) takes it along the baseline on the Seton Catholic defender for the score. It would be the third game on the day of the second day of action at the 2022 Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and as the Saranac Chiefs and Seton Catholic Knights would meet up. The game would start off well for the Chiefs as they would have a 10-4 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Chiefs would step up their offense with a 15-3 quarter and take a 25-7 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter it would be more of the same as the Chiefs would have an 18-5 quarter and take a 43-12 lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter with the outcome of the game already determined the Griffins would win the quarter 7-6 although the Chiefs would hold on for the 49-19 victory. With the win, the Saranac Chiefs would win the Girls' portion of the Holiday Classic and move their record to 6-1 on the season as the Knights fall to 2-5 on the season. Gallery
