North Warren's Semaj Cuyler (1) with the game-winning hoop that he lays off the window for the 57-56 Cougars win. It would be the last game of the day from Clinton Community College as part of Regional Final Saturday and it would be in Class D NYSPHSAA Boy's Basketball in front of another packed house as #6 North Warren Cougars (II) and the #11 Schroon Lake Wildcats (VII) for the right to go to Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls and would they save a great game for the end. The game would be tight through the first eight minutes of the game as the Wildcats would have the slim 13-12 lead/ In the second quarter the lead would change hands a couple of times but still would be tight as the Cougars would have a 15-11 quarter and take the slim 27-24 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter it would be the same chorus different verse out there as the Cougars would have an 11-9 quarter and take a 38-33 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, both teams would come and shoot out of the gym and the scoreboard would be on fire with a 23-19 Schroon Lake quarter. The Wildcats would take the 1-point lead with ten seconds left on the Logan Bush free throw. Although the North Warren Cougars would drive right back down the court and Semaj Cuyler (1) would lay it off the window for the score and give the Cougars the 57-56 win and the berth in the final four. In the winning effort for the Cougars Wyatt Jennings would lead the way with 17 points as they go to 20-4 on the season. As for the Schroon Lake Wildcats Logan Bush would lead the game with 29 points as their season comes to end at 16-8. Gallery

The Schroon Lake Wildcats would be crowned the 2024 Section VII Class D Champions with their 63-55 double-overtime victory over the Crown Point Panthers. It would be the fourth game of the day and seventh game of championship weekend and it would be for the Class D Boy's title it would feature the #1 Crown Pont Panthers and the #4 Schroon Lake Wildcats as they battle in the rematch of last years title which was also a thriller. The game would be starting well for the top-seeded Crown Point Panthers as they would jump out to the big lead at 20-8 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Wildcats would start their chargeback with a 15-8 quarter but the Panthers would still have the 30-23 advantage as they headed into the intermission period. When the teams returned for the third quarter defense would be the name of the game as the Wildcats would have a slim advantage of 8-7 for the quarter and the Panthers would still hold the lead at 37-31. When the teams went into the fourth quarter the Wildcats would leave everything out there and tie the game at 41 with a 10-4 quarter and they would even have a shot at the end to win it regulation but the game would head to overtime. In the overtime frame, the teams would trade baskets back and forth and a second overtime would be needed but in the second overtime, the Wildcats would get control and win the overtime 19-11 get the 63-55 victory, and be crowned the 2024 Class D Section VII champions. Schroon Lake's (4) rises up on the layup early in the game to get the Wildcats on the board. It would be a match-up inside the Mountain Valley Conference of Section VII as the Seton Catholic Knights would host the Schroon Lake Wildcats in Girl's Basketball. It would be a tight and low scoring through the first quarter as the Knights would hold the slim 6-5 lead after the first 8 minutes of the game. In the second quarter, we would have a complete repeat of the first quarter as the Knights would once again lead the quarter 6-5 and then take the slim 12-10 lead into the intermission break. When the teams returned for the third quarter after the break the Knights would bring their offense with them and win the quarter 14-6 as they got hot and would have a 26-16 lead heading into the final quarter. In that final quarter the Wildcats would do everything they could try to get back in the game and their defense would shut out the Knights in the quarter but the Wildcats could only get eight points and the Knights would hold on for the 26-24. In the winning effort, the Knights would get back to 500 on the season at 2-2 as they head into their game next week with Chazy. The Schroon Lake Wildcats fall to 1-2 on the season as they will play Boquet Valley in their next game on Friday night. Gallery

It would be the last game of the championship Sunday from Clinton Community College as this would be for the Class D Section VII title and we would have the #1 Schroon Lake Wildcats and the #2 Crown Point Panthers. It would be tight through the first quarter but the #2 Crown Point would have the upset in mind as they would have the 16-13 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the game would stay tight as neither team would be able to get on a sustained run but the Wildcats would win the quarter 16-13 and the teams would go into the break tied at 29. When the teams would return for the third quarter the game would stay tight but the Wildcats would get a bit of separation with a 13-9 quarter and take a 42-38 lead into the fourth. In that fourth quarter, the Wildcats would just have too much leave down the stretch for the Panthers as they would win the quarter 17-12 and get the 59-50 victory. With the win, the Schroon Lake Wildcats will advance to the NYSPHSAA Class D Tournament and will face North Warren from Section II for the right to go to the final four at the Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls. It would be a matchup inside the mountain valley athletic conference as the Seton Catholic Knights would be hosting the Schroon Lake Wildcats and the home Knights would be looking to ride their mid-season surge but they would have to do it against the top team in the conference. The game would not start off well for the home Knights as the Wildcats would get off to a quick start and have a 14-7 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the teams would be more equal but the Wildcats would still have the edge with an 11-8 quarter and take a 25-15 lead into the locker room. When the teams returned for the second half the offenses on both sides would keep their game going all although the Wildcats would have a 14-13 quarter and take a 39-28 into the 3rd quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Wildcats would start to walk away with the game as the leader for Knights Aidan Pearl would get hurt and the Wildcats would have an 18-4 quarter to secure the 57-32 victory. In the winning effort the Wildcats go to 8-1 on the season and will play Fort Edwards next will the Knights fall to 4-7 and will wait for the Boquet Valley Griffins to right the ship righted. The Seton Catholic Knights celebrate as they hold off the Wildcat's late charge for the two point win. It would be a contest inside the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference as the Seton Catholic Knights would host the Schroon Lake Wildcats in Girl's Basketball action. It would be a very physical game from the opening tip, and the Wildcats would have a slim 14-13 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the defenses would regain supreme as the teams would combine for nine points in the quarter and the game would go into the intermission tie at 18. When the teams returned for the second half the Knights would bring their offense to the court and take control of the game with a 10-4 quarter and take the 28-22 lead into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Wildcats would give it their best to get the game back in favor although they would come up short with a 12-8 quarter to give the Seton Catholic Knights the win at 36-34. In the winning effort, the Seton Catholic Knights go to 2-3 while the Schroon Lake Wildcats fall to 1-2. Gallery
