That would be where the game would stay all the way til the 3:14 mark of the third period when Adam Tretowicz would find the net on a breakaway for the shorthanded goal and the 2-0 Cardinals lead. Then the Cardinals would add a third goal at the 12:09 mark of the period from Josh Belgrave for the 3-0 lead and that is where the game would finish. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would open up the home portion of their SUNYAC season against the Fredonia State Blue Devils. The game would start off good for the home cardinals as they would have a 5-3 lead after the first quarter on the strength of goals by Fiona Fitzgerald, Davina Gyedu, Kate Kennedy, Emily Caoili, and Lindsay Guzzetta while Fredonia's Moly McGowan (twice, and Erin Woods. In the second quarter, the Cardinals would break the game open on the strength of a 4-0 quarter on goals from Caroline Noia, Emma McLaughlin, Davina Gyedu (second), Caitlin Nash for the 9-3 lead at the break. When the teams came back for the third quarter the defenses would be on display as they would tie the quarter 2-2 with the Cardinal goals from Caroline Noia (second) and Jordan Kowalski but they would take the 11-5 lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Cardinals would win the quarter for a 14-7 win on goals from Lindsay Guzzetta (second), Emma McLaughlin (second), and Caroline Noia (third). The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would come into the night looking for the sweep of western new york as they would host the Fredonia State Blue Devils in SUNYAC Men's Hockey action. In the opening period of the game, the Cardinals would have an offensive outburst with five goals Joey Mancuso (twice), Jake Lanyl, Trey Thomas, and Bennet Stockdale. While the Blue Devils would do their best to keep it honest with a goal by Parker Brakebill for a 5-1 game after the first period. In the second period, the Cardinals would keep hitting as they would get two more from Brendan Young and Trey Thomas second of the night for a 7-1 game headed into the third. In that third period, there would be no stopping the Cardinals as they would have another outburst this time for 6 goals from Christian Difelice, Mitchell Hale, Jale Lanyl (second of the game), Jack Ring, Adam Tretowicz, Joey Mancuso to complete his hat trick and secure the 13-1 win. Once again the Cardinals would be in a fight and it would be tight through the first half and the Cardinals would have a slim 38-37 lead at the break. In the second half, the Cardinals would do their best to pull away but they would come shortly as the Blue Devils would drain a three-pointer at the buzzer and the Cardinals would fall 76-75. The game would start tight in the beginning as the Blue Devils would have a slight 14-13 lead after the first quarter. It would remain tight through the second quarter as the Blue Devils get the quarter 19-15 and lead 33-28 at the half. In the third quarter, the defenses would be on display with a low-scoring 11-8 quarter but would extend their lead to 44-36 as they head into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Cardinals would have no answer as the Blue Devils win the quarter 12-6 and the game 56-42.
