It would be the opening game of Section VII Basketball Championship weekend from the campus of Clinton Community College and it would feature #1 Beekmantown Eagles and #2 Peru Nighthawks in the Girl's Class A Finals. The Nighthawks would come into the game with upset on their mind and in the first quarter they would show it with a 10-4 quarter. In the second quarter, it would be the complete opposite as the Eagles would settle and their offense would come as they would win the quarter 10-3 and have a slim 14-13 lead at the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter the teams would play very evenly as the game would be tied at 26 as they head into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter the Eagles would have a 16-10 quarter as there would be over a third of the points scored in just that quarter along the Eagles would get the come-from-behind victory at 42-36. The Beekmantown Eagles have crowned the 2024 Section VII A Champions with a 42-36 victory over the Peru Nighthawks. It would be the opening game of Section VII Basketball Championship weekend from the campus of Clinton Community College and it would feature #1 Beekmantown Eagles and #2 Peru Nighthawks in the Girl's Class A Finals. It would be the classic crosstown rivalry tonight in section VII girl's basketball as the Plattsburgh Hornets would be hosting the Beekmantown Eagles in an early season match-up. The game would be tight and low-scoring through the first quarter as it would be tied at seven. In the second quarter, the teams would start to find their shot and the scoring would show it as the Eagles would have an 18-10 quarter and take a 25-17 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half the Eagles would stay hot and take the third quarter 14-9 to take a 39-26 lead into the final quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles would go into defensive mode and protect their lead as the Hornets win the quarter 10-9. However, the Eagles would hold on and get the win in the crosstown match 48-36. In the winning effort, the Eagles would even up their record at 2-2 on the season as they head into their next contest on the 19th against Northeastern Clinton. As for the Hornets, they will fall to 1-2 on season and they will be right back at it on Saturday in a nonleague match against the Chateaugay Bulldogs. Gallery

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Girl's Basketball Class B Semi-finals #4 Beekmantown Eagles @ #1 Saranac Chiefs Februarry 26th 2022

Beekmantown's Grace McCasland (3) with the three from the top of the arc to keep her team in the fight. It would be the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class B Semi-finals as the #1 Saranac Chiefs would host the #4 Beekmantown Eagles for the right to play in the finals next Saturday, March 5th at Clinton Community College. The game would start off good for the top-seeded Chiefs as they would have the 16-9 lead after the first quarter. The Chiefs would continue to pull away through the second quarter but the Eagles would do their best to keep it close with a 10-6 Chiefs quarter and 26-15 lead at the break. When the teams would come back for the third quarter the Eagles would come soaring back with a 25-16 quarter making it a slim 42-40 lead for the Chiefs as they headed into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Chiefs shut down defense would return with a 17-4 quarter and end up cruising to the 59-44 win. In the winning effort, they will advance to the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference championship march at Clinton Community College on March 5th against Northeastern Clinton Cougars. Gallery

In the second quarter, it would be more of the same as the Eagles did their best to keep the shutout and have an impressive 16-2 lead at the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter from the break they would bring their offensive's as the Eagles would win the quarter and take a 28-12 lead into the fourth and final quarter. It would be the second game of the night in the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and it would feature long-time rivals the Beekmantown Eagles and the Peru Nighthawks and after the first quarter, Nighthawks would have a slim 9-8 lead. In the second quarter, the Eagles would find their offense and take the 19-17 lead at the break on the strength of an 11-8 quarter. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Eagles would keep up their hot offense with a 17-6 quarter and take the 36-23 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles would keep scoring and take the quarter 9-8 and secure the 44-32 victory and go to 4-5 on the season while the Knighthawks fall to 5-3 on the season. Gallery
