Beekmantown's Zach Lapier (19) slides it past the goalie for the score. It would be the championship game of the latest edition of the Applebee's Winter Classic and it would feature the #11 Rye Garnets and the host Beekmantown Eagles. The host Eagles would get off to a good start as they would score just 2:4 into the game on the Edward Sweenor goal. Then just under two minutes later the Eagles score again this time from Sam Bingel putting him just 1 point away from 100 points in his career. Then with 3:38 left in the first period, the Eagles would score again as Edward Sweenor would get his second of the game for the 3-0 Eagles lead. In the early moments of the second period, the Garnets would get on the board to make it a two-goal game on the Ryan Draddy goal. Then at the 5:02 mark of the second period the Eagles would get a goal lead back at 4-1 on the Zack Lapier goal but Sam Bingel would get the assist to secure his 100th career point. The Eagles would start to put the icing on the cake just 55 seconds after the Louis Swennor goal to give the Eagles the 4-1 lead. Then with three minutes left in the game freshmen Edward Sweenor would finish off his hat trick and give the host Eagles the upset 6-1 win and the Winter Classic title. Gallery.

The Beekmantown Eagles are crowned the 2023 Applebee's Winter Classic champions. It would be the championship game of the latest edition of the Applebee's Winter Classic and it would feature the #11 Rye Garnets and the host Beekmantown Eagles. A pair of Northeastern Clinton players Caeson Gacreau (5) and Winnie Simpson (18) sandwich the Storm skater between them and break up the play. It would be the consolation game of the Appebee's Winter Classic and would feature the Guilderland Storm and the Northeastern Clinton Cougars. In the opening period the teams would combine for 5 goals and the Storm would have a 3-2 lead. The three for the Storm would come from Keegan McGovern and Klaidi Ginghi while scoring for the Cougars would be Scott Wryre and Owen Ebersole. In the second period, the Storm would add another two goals from Quinn Rice while the Cougars would add one more from Winnie Simpson as the Storm would take a 5-3 lead into the third period. In that third period, the teams would combine for 8 goals. The Storm would have a pair of goals in the period from Quinn Rice and Joe Kosier. While the Cougars would get 6 goals in the period including a span in the period where the Cougars would score 4 goals in 3:12 scoring in the period would be Owen Ebersole (twice), Winnie Simpson (three), and Garrett Pilon as the Northeastern Clinton Cougars would get the 9-7 win. Rye's (3) stuffs it by Northeastern Clinton's goal for the Garnet goal. It would be the second game of the 2023 edition of the Applebee's Winter Classic from the Ronald B Stafford Arena and it would feature the Northeastern Clinton Cougars and the Rye Garnet. In the opening period, the teams would combine for eight goals with the Rye getting six goals while Northeastern Clinton would get goals from Wayne Simpson and Owen Ebersole. In the second period, there would be another three goals as the Garnets would extend their lead to 8-3. In the third period, the teams would combine for another seven goals with the Garnets getting four goals and Cougars getting another three thanks to Owen Ebersole and Wayne Simpson as the Rye Garnet would get the 12-6 win. The winning effort the Rye Garnet will play the Beekmantown Eagles for the tournament title. While the Northeastern Clinton Cougars will get the Guilderland Storm in the 3rd place game. Gallery.

Beekmantown's Novak Jarus(9) with the shot on net that looked like it was going to sneak under the arm but Edward Sweenor would knock in the rebound for the goal. It would be the opening day and opening game of the 2023 edition of the Applebee's Winter Classic from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena. The Storm would get the opening goal of the game with 3:30 left in the first period on the Keegan McGovern goal. The Eagles would come back and tie the game up at one on the Edward Sweenor goal with 41 seconds left in the period. In the second period, the Eagles would get a pair of goals from Edward Sweenor and Novak Jarus as the Storm would get one but the Eagles would take the 3-2 lead into the third period. In the third period, the teams would combine for 6 goals. The Eagles would get the first goal of the period just three minutes into the period from Louis Sweenor as he dumped the puck into the zone for the 4-2 lead. The Storm would answer right back 30 seconds later to make it a one-goal game again at 4-3 on the Klaidi Gijini goal. From there the Eagles would come back with three unanswered goals from Sam Bingel, Edwin Sweenor, and Keegin Rodier as they would secure the 7-3 win. Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Girl's Basketball: Beekmantown Eagles @ Plattsburgh Hornets December 14th 2023

It would be the classic crosstown rivalry tonight in section VII girl's basketball as the Plattsburgh Hornets would be hosting the Beekmantown Eagles in an early season match-up. The game would be tight and low-scoring through the first quarter as it would be tied at seven. In the second quarter, the teams would start to find their shot and the scoring would show it as the Eagles would have an 18-10 quarter and take a 25-17 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half the Eagles would stay hot and take the third quarter 14-9 to take a 39-26 lead into the final quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles would go into defensive mode and protect their lead as the Hornets win the quarter 10-9. However, the Eagles would hold on and get the win in the crosstown match 48-36. In the winning effort, the Eagles would even up their record at 2-2 on the season as they head into their next contest on the 19th against Northeastern Clinton. As for the Hornets, they will fall to 1-2 on season and they will be right back at it on Saturday in a nonleague match against the Chateaugay Bulldogs. Gallery

Beekmantown's (33) makes the shoulder save on the shot from the top of the zone in the winning effort. It would be the season opener for the annual powerhouse of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Beekmantown Eagles as they would host the Niskayuna Mohawks. The Eagles would come out in the first period and take quick control of the game as they would score five goals Zach Lapier (three) and Sam Bingel (twice) while the Mohawks would get a lone goal as the Eagles would take the 5-1 lead into the first intermission. In the second period it would be the same as the first as the Eagles would dominate again with another five-goal period from Louis Sweenor (twice), Zach Lapier, Sam Bingel, and Keegin Rodier while the Mohawks would another one as the Eagles would take a 10-2 lead into the third period. In that third period, the Eagles would another three goals with help from Sam Bingel and Zach Lapier as the Eagles would cruise to the 13-3 win. In the win, the Beekmantown Eagles would start their season 1-0 while the Niskayuna Mohawks would fall to 0-2 on the year. As for the Beekmantown Eagles, they will be back in action next weekend as they take on Grand Island and Kenmore East. Gallery

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class B Championship: #1 Peru Nighthawks Vs #2 Beekmantown Eagles November 3rd 2023

Peru's Trenten Taylor (15) with the leaping catch along the sidelines and he would took into the endzone for the score. It would be the second game of the championship Saturday from Ausable Valley as this time it would be the Section VII Class B championship as it would be the classic rivalry with the #1 Peru Nighthawks and the #2 Beekmantown Eagles for the right to head to the NYSPHSAA Class B Tournament. It would start out like a lot of these classic games with hard-hitting and tight defense. The Nighthawks would finally break through for the first score of the game on a 23-yard pass and catch to Trenten Taylor to give the Nighthawks the 7-0 lead with 2 minutes left in the half and that is how the first half would end. The game would stay there till the 5:38 mark of the third quarter when Zack Engstrom would score from 5 yards out to make it a 14-0 game. Then with just over six minutes left in the game, the Nighthawks would take control of the game on Zack Engstrom's second score of the game this time from 40 yards out, and secure the 20-0 lead and win. With the win the Nighthawks go to 8-1 on the season and will take on the Gouvenor Wildcats in the opening round of the NYSPHSAA Class C Tournament. The Beekmantown Eagles season will come to an end at 6-4. Gallery
