Seton Catholic's Aiden Pearl (22) slides through the defenders and lays it off the window for the score. It would be a matchup inside the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference at Seton Catholic as the Knights would be hosting the Lake Placid Blue Bombers in Boy's Basketball action. The Blue Bombers would come out hot and have the 15-12 lead on the road after the first quarter. However, the home Knights would keep fighting in the second quarter and take the slim 24-23 lead into the intermission on the strength of a 12-8 quarter. When the teams returned for the third quarter the Knights would get their shot going as they would double up the Blue Bombers with a 14-8 quarter and take a 38-31 lead into the 4th quarter. In that fourth quarter, the teams would be very evenly matched and the Knights would get the slim quarter win at 10-9 and secure the 48-40 win for the Knights. In the winning effort, the Knights go to 4-10 on the season and their next matchup will be with the Peru Knighthawks while the Lake Placid Blue Bombers will fall to 4-10 and take on Newcomb next. Saranac's Landin Duprey (16) slides it past Plattsburgh's Owen Chapple (30) for one of his three goals on the evening. It would be a contest inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference tonight as the #9 Saranac Chiefs would meet up with the Plattsburgh Hornets at the AC North Sports Center. It would take just 45 seconds for the first goal of the game as the Chief's Landin Duprey would light the lamp for the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there till the 5:40 mark of the period Nolan Miner would score to extend their lead to a 2-0 lead. Then at the 10:41 mark of the period the Chiefs would score again on Duprey's second goal of the period and take a -0 lead to end the period. When the teams came out for the second period the teams would play pretty even throughout and there would be no scoring as the Chiefs would hold onto their 3-0. The Chiefs would keep the scoring going as they would light the lamp 4:07 into the period when Zack O'Connell would score to make it a 4-0 game. The game would stay there till the ten-minute mark of the period when the Chiefs would score twice in 45 seconds from Landin Duprey (for the hat trick) and Nolan Miner (second of the night) to make it a 6-0 Chiefs lead. Then with just over three minutes left in the game, the Chiefs would end their scoring outburst when Zack O'Connell would get the second of the night for the 7-0 win. Northern Adirondack's (5) with the jump out of bounds to save the ball and keep the offenses going. It would be an interconference matchup in section vii as the Seton Catholic Knights from the Mountain Valley Conference would host the Northern Adirondack Bobcats from the Champlain Valley Conference. The game would start off slow as both teams were looking to find their shot as the Bobcats would have the 7-5 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the defenses would still be the game's name as the Knights would win the quarter with a 10-7 and take the slim 15-14 lead at the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half the Bobcats would find the touch with the shot but the Knights would not have the luck as the Bobcats would win the quarter 13-4 and take the 27-19 lead into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Knights still had no luck with the basketball as the Bobcats would win the quarter 14-5 to get the 41-24 win. In the winning effort, the Bobcats would improve their record to 11-1 while the Knights would fall to 8-6 on the season. The Salmon River Shamrocks celebrate the game-winner in overtime to keep their perfect season intact. It would be a mid-season matchup outside the conference but o what it matchup it would be as it would pit the top 2 in new york state boy hockey #2 Beekmantown Eagles would host the #1 Salmon River Shamrocks from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena in front of a very spirited and well-attended crowd. It wouldn't take long till we had our first goal of the game as Salmon River's (17) would light the lamp just 3:20 into the game. Although the Eagles come right back down and tie the game back up at one of Zack Lapier's goals just a minute later. Although at the thirteen-minute mark, the Shamrocks would get two quick ones just 100 seconds apart from 7 and 17 as the Shamrocks lead the game 3-1 after the first period. When the teams returned for the second the competitive spirit of the game would stay on high and at the 7:32 mark of the period Zack Lapier would score again for the Eagles to make it a 3-2 game. Although with just over two minutes left in the period would fight back to get their two-goal lead again on the Cook goal to make it 4-2 Shamrocks after the second period. The Eagles would waste little time in the third period making it a one-goal game again on the Sam Bingel just 40 seconds in to make it a 4-3 game. Then with just six minutes left in the game, the Eagles would finally get the equalizer as Lapier would get his hat trick goal and end up sending the game to overtime tie at four. In the extra frame, there would be a penalty called on Beekmantown's Sam Bingel and with the powerplay, the Shamrocks would take care of business on the Cook goal. On this night the #1 team in the state the Salmon River Shamrocks would get the win at 5-4 to stay perfect on the season the Eagles would suffer their first setback of the year and go to 9-1-1 on the season and will look to right the ship on January 27th against the Canton Bears. Bishop Timon's (13) cuts in front of the net and slides it under Plattsburgh's Owen Chapple (30) for the goal. It would be a nonleague early morning contest at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Bishop Timons Tigers in Boy's Hockey action. The game would not start off well for the home Hornets as they would give up three goals in the first period from three different scorers. In the second period, the Hornets would seem to find their stride even though they wouldn't get on the board they would stay in the contest as the Tigers would only get one goal and take a 4-0 lead into the third period. In that third period though it would all come unglued for the Hornets as they would give up five goals and the Tigers would get the 9-0 victory. The Hornets will return to action on January 26th and look to get back on track as they take on the #9 Saranac Chiefs. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Hannah Roberto (30) and Geneseo State's defender battle for the rebound under the basket. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would be looking to right the ship against the Geneseo State Knights as they come in losing their last two games. Although the game would not start off very well for the Cardinals as would be trailing the Knights 23-2 after the first quarter. The Cardinals would start to get their shot going in the second quarter but it still wouldn't be enough as the Knights have a 28-11 quarter and take a 51-13 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned to the court for the third quarter the teams would be a lot more equal as the Knights would have the slim 16-15 advantage in the quarter and take the 67-28 lead into the 4th quarter. In the fourth, the teams would have their second strings out there in mop-up efforts and the Knights would have the 17-6 edge as they would get the 84-34 victory. In a losing effort for the Cardinals, Izzy Wilbur would lead the way for the Cardinals with 12 points as they go to 6-11 on the season. Gallery

The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would be looking to get back on the winning side of things after their loss the night before as they would be taking on the Geneseo State Knights in Men's Basketball action. The game would be tight throughout the first half as the Cardinals would have a slight 35-33 lead at the end of the first half. When the teams returned for the second half it would stay tight but the Cardinals would win the half 49-40 to secure the 84-73 victory. In the winning effort, the Cardinals basketball team would win their third game in the last four as Franklin Infante would lead the way for the Cardinals with 19 points as the Cardinals would go to 7-10 on the season. Plattsburgh State's Bennett Stockdale (14) with the wrap-around goal for the game-winner in the late stages of the game. The #13 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would finish off hall of fame weekend as they would host the Cortland State Red Dragons and before and during the game they would honor former coach Bob Emery, the 1980-81 team, and the 2000-01 team. As for the game itself, the Cardinals would dominate the game as the Cardinals would outshoot the Red Dragons 49-12 on the night. It would take all the way till the second period before we would have the first goal of the game and it would be from Josh Belgrave on the scramble in front of the net at the 9:436 mark of the period. The game would stay there till the 3:04 mark of the third period when the Red Dragons would tie the game at one on the Sutter Donegan goal. The game would stay there till there were about six minutes left in the game when the Cardinals would score on the Bennett Stockdale wrap-around goal to secure the 2-1 victory. In the winning effort, Eli Shiffler would make 11 saves as the Cardinals go to 13-4-2 on the season. Plattsburgh State's Ciara Wall (34) with the zone face-off win as she would be the lone goal scorer on the afternoon. The #3 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would have a single game on the weekend as they would host the Canton Kangaroos in Northeast Women's Hockey action. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would have their chances throughout the game as they would outshoot the Kangaroos 35-16 on the game. Although the Kangaroos goaltender Sirena Alvarez would stand tall and keep them in the game with 35 saves on the night. The lone goal of the game would come at the 5:24 mark of the second period from Ciara Wall for the Cardinals as the Cardinals would get the 1-0 win. In the winning effort the Cardinals would go to 15-2 on the season Lilla Nease would make 16 save on the afternoon for the shutout win. Cardinal Country would litter the ice with red stress balls as Jacob Modry would score five minutes into the game. It would be the classic rivalry returning to the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena for their third match-up of the season as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Oswego State Lakers with both teams ranked inside the top 15 in the country. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would be looking to avenge two earlier seasons' losses to the Lakers as they would take the early 1-0 lead just 5:27 into the first period on the Jacob Modry goal and with it, the red stress balls would hit the ice as it was stress ball night at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena. Then at the 12:03 mark of the period the Cardinals would extend their lead to 2-0 on the Riley Sutherland goal. That is where the game would stay all the way till the 41-second mark of the third period when Ryan Bonfield would score to make it a 3-0 Cardinal game. Then just three minutes later the Cardinals would take control of the game on the Carson Gallagher goal to make it a 4-0 Cardinals. Then on the powerplay at the 6:29 mark of the period the Cardinals would make it a 5-0 game on the Luk Jirousek goal. Then with under seven minutes left in the game the Cardinals would end their assault on the night on the Bennett Stockdale goal as it would be the sixth different scorer in the game. The Lakers would break up the shutout bid with under 4 minutes left in the game when Matt McQuade scored to make it a 6-1 game. In the winning effort, Eli Shiller would make 21 saves on 22 shots as they go to 12-4-2 on the season and will be back in action as they will play Cortland State on the hall of fame night at the Ronald Stafford Ice Arena. It would be a matchup inside the mountain valley athletic conference as the Seton Catholic Knights would be hosting the Schroon Lake Wildcats and the home Knights would be looking to ride their mid-season surge but they would have to do it against the top team in the conference. The game would not start off well for the home Knights as the Wildcats would get off to a quick start and have a 14-7 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the teams would be more equal but the Wildcats would still have the edge with an 11-8 quarter and take a 25-15 lead into the locker room. When the teams returned for the second half the offenses on both sides would keep their game going all although the Wildcats would have a 14-13 quarter and take a 39-28 into the 3rd quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Wildcats would start to walk away with the game as the leader for Knights Aidan Pearl would get hurt and the Wildcats would have an 18-4 quarter to secure the 57-32 victory. In the winning effort the Wildcats go to 8-1 on the season and will play Fort Edwards next will the Knights fall to 4-7 and will wait for the Boquet Valley Griffins to right the ship righted. Plattsburgh's Max Filosca (5) drives through the defenders and throws the off-balance layup off the window for the score. It would be the classic rivalry inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Peru Nighthawks in Boy's Basketball action. Both teams were looking for their first win of the season inside the conference didn't make the competition any less exciting. It would start off great for the home Hornets as their offense was firing on all cylinders and would have a 24-10 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the teams would be more equal although the Hornets would still be able to extend their lead with a 13-9 quarter and take a 37-19 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half the offense for the Hornets would stay hot as they would have a 19-11 quarter and take the commanding lead into the 4th quarter at 56-30. In the fourth quarter, the Hornets would take their foot off the gas as they would finish out the game with an 11-9 quarter for the Nighthawks but the Hornets would have a comfortable lead and get the 65-41 victory. In the winning effort, the Hornets go to 3-6 on the season as they travel to Ausable Valley on Friday as the Nighthawks fall to 1-9 on the season. Gallery

Seton Catholic's Aiden Peal (22) drives through the defense and lays it off the window for the basket as the Knights pad their lead. It would be a matchup inside the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference as the Seton Catholic Knights would host the Willsboro Warriors in boy's basketball action. The game would start off well for the home Knights as they would jump out to a double-digit lead after the first quarter with a 16-6 lead. In the second quarter, the Warriors would come steaming back with a run of their own to make a game of it for the second half with a 16-9 quarter but would still trail 27-22 as they went into halftime. When the teams returned for the second half the third quarter would be a tight one as the physical style of the game would start to pick up and the Knights would win the quarter 12-10 and take a 39-32 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Knights would find they're reshot and blow the game open with a 16-6 quarter and secure the 55-38 victory. In the winning effort, the Knights go to 4-6 on the season and will play the Schroon Lake Wildcats on January 19th while the Willsboro Warriors fall to 1-8 on the season. Gallery

The Beekmantown Eagles celebrate their hard-fought victory to stay atop the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference standings. It would be standing room only at the Amer-can North Sports Complex tonight as it would be a match-up of a pair of teams ranked inside the top 15 in the state as the #14 Saranac Chiefs Chiefs coming in on 6 games winning streak hosting the #2 Beekmantown Eagles that came in unbeaten on the season. It would take till the 6-minute mark of the first period before we had our first goal between these two high-spirited teams when Sam Bingel would light the lamp twice in that minute to give the Eagles the 2-0 lead. Then at the 9:25 mark of the period the Chiefs would get on the board when Evan Patrie would hit the rebound goal to make it a 2-1 game. Although the one-goal game would be short-lived as Keegan Seemone would score thirty seconds later to make it a two-goal lead again for the Eagles. The Chiefs would not end out the period strong as Landen Duprey would score twice to end the period and the teams would go into the locker room tied at three. The Chiefs would keep the train moving as they would score just 3:36 into the second period to give them their first lead of the game at 4-3 on the Nolan Miner goal. Then at about the midway mark of the period, Zach O'Connell will score to give the Chiefs the 5-3 lead. The game would stay there til the 14-minute mark of the period when Sam Bingel (hat trick) and Zach Lapier would score to tie the game at five as they went into the second intermission. When the teams returned for the third period the Eagles would be riding their excitement as they would take the 6-5 lead at the 5:36 mark of the period on Sam Bingel's 4th goal of the night. Then with under 90 seconds left in the game, he would strike again for the 7-5, and the Eagles would add an empty netter to secure the 8-5 win. In the winning effort, Austin Doser would make 27 saves as they go to 9-0-1 on the season and the Chiefs fall to 7-2-2 on the season as Joey Mitchell had 25 saves on the night. It would be the second game of the weekend series between the #3 Plattsburgh State Cardinals and the Oswego State Lakers in Northeast Women's Hockey League action and the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would be looking at the weekend sweep. The Lakers would be looking to end the sweep chances early as they would score 3:40 into the game as Kensie Malone would light the lamp. Although the Cardinals would answer back five minutes later on the Julia Masotta goal to tie the game at one. The game would stay there till the 12:11 mark of the second period when Sara Krauseneck would stuff it in on the short side to give the Cardinals the 2-1 lead. Then at the 3:33 mark of the third period the Cardinals would make it a two-goal lead on the Nicole Unsworth goal at 3-1. Then with 4:16 left in the game, the Cardinals would ice the game away and get the 4-1 victory on the Mae Olshansky goal as the Cardinals would get the weekend sweep. In the winning effort, Lilla Nease would make 21 saves as the Cardinals would go to 14-2 on the season. Plattsburgh State's Bennett Stockdale slides in on net using the defender as buffer as he would be lone the scorer on the evening. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would have a single home game on the weekend as they would have Williams Ephs from NESCAC as a yearly non league match up come to the Ronald B Stafford ice Arena. It would be physical and evenly matched game throughout with both teams looking for the upper hand in the match. It would take all the way till there was 3:30 left in the second period before we would have are first goal on the night and it would come from Plattsburgh State's Bennett Stockdale to give the Cardinals the 1-0 lead. That is where the game would remain until the final minute of the game when Bennett Stockdale would seal the game away with the empty netter to give the Cardinals the 2-0 win in front of 1,100 fans. In the winning effort Eli Shiller would make 26 saves in the shutout victory as the Cardinals go to 11-4-2 on the season. Plattsburgh State's Lilla Nease (31) with the pad save as part of a 17-save night. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would make their home return for the first time since the Thanksgiving day weekend Buster's Panther/Cardinal Classic as they would face off with NEWHL foe the Oswego State Lakers. The Lakers would be out to spoil the Cardinal's homecoming as they would get the first goal of the game at the 6:02 mark of the first period on the shorthand from Kensie Malone. Then at the 11:47 mark of the period they would look to take control of the game as the Lakers would score on the powerplay from Amanda Zenstein for the 2-0 lead. Although the Cardinals would answer in the final 40 seconds of the period on the powerplay with the Mae Olshansky goal to make it 2-1 Lakers after the first period. In the second period, the Cardinals would get the only goal of the period at the 9:09 mark on the powerplay from Nicole Unsworth to tie the game at two. In the third period, the Cardinals would get the first lead of the game at the 13:22 mark of the period from Sierra Benjamin to make it 3-2. Then with 1:55 left in the game, the Cardinals would extend their lead to 4-2 on the Nicole Unsworth powerplay goal. Although the Lakers would not give up easily as they would score 15 seconds from Avery Webster to make it a 4-3 game. In the winning effort, Lilla Nease would make 17 saves on the night as the Cardinals would go to 13-2 on the season. The Saranac Chiefs would have a nonleague match-up from Section V tonight as they would host the #11 Churchville-Chilli Saints at the Amer-can North Sports Center. The game would start well for the home Chiefs as they would get the game's opening goal from Nolan Miner just 90 seconds into the contest. The game would stay there all the way till the 4:19 mark of the second period when Max McKay would score on the breakaway for the Saints and make it a 1-1 game. Although the Chiefs would keep coming and coming and under four minutes left in the period they would retake the lead at 2-1 on the Adrian Barnes goal. That's where the game would stay till the last 1:19 of the game when the Chiefs would score as Nolan Miner would get his second goal of the game and extend the Chief's lead to 3-1. Although there wasn't much time left in the game it wouldn't take the fight out of the Saints as they would score with the extra man from Beckham Clancy with four seconds left. The Chiefs would get the 3-2 win on the night behind the 24 saves a night of Joey Mitchell as the Chiefs go to 7-1-2 on the season. The Chiefs will be back in action Monday evening as they take on the top team in the section the Beekmantown Eagles at Ameri-can North Sports Center. Gallery

Plattsburgh's Brandon Calkins (12) crashes into the goalie on the breakaway and scores to give the team the lead. It would be a nonleague matchup featuring section vii and section x as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Tupper Lake Lumberjacks in Boy's Hockey action. The Plattsburgh Hornets would get the game's opening goal in the early stages of the period and take the 1-0 lead. Then in the final three minutes of the period, the Lumberjacks would tie the game at one. The game would stay there til the 7:30 mark of the second period when the Hornets would regain the lead on the Jace Lacey goal at 2-1. However, the Lumberjacks would fight back and tie the game up at 2 in the final 90 seconds of the period. Then it would be onto the high offense third period where the teams would combine for seven goals. The Lumberjacks would strike first at the 1:29 mark and take the 3-2 lead. Although the lead would be short-lived as the Hornets and Jace Lacey would answer right back 19 seconds later and tie the game at three. Then in a matter of 45 seconds, the Lumberjacks would score twice and take the 5-3 lead. Although the Hornets wouldn't be done as they would score three goals in the final 7 minutes all from Brendan Calkins to secure the 6-5 Hornets win. It would take till about the halfway mark of the first period for the first goal of the game coming from Landon Duprey at the 8:17 mark of the first period to give the Saranac Chiefs the 1-0 lead. The Chiefs would strike again with 2:30 left in the first period on the Evan Patrie goal to give them the 2-0 lead. The game would stay there till the 3:59 mark of the second period when Landon Duprey for the second goal of the night and take the 3-0. Then just 90 seconds later the Chiefs would score again this time from Adrian Barnes and take the 4-0 lead and stay there for the rest of the period. Then in the third period, the Chiefs would get another tally from Landon Duprey to get his hat-trick goal on the night and take the 5-0 lead. Finally, with ten minutes left in the game, the Lakers would get on the board to break up the shutout at 5-1. Then just to put the icing on the cake with 3:30 left in the game Nolan Miner would score to secure the 6-1 victory. Saranac's Joey Mitchell (30) with the pad save on the scramble play in front of the net as he would have 44 saves in the shutout victory. It would be an interstate game today as the Rice Memorial Knights would come across Lake Champlain and face off with the Saranac Chiefs at Ameri-can North Sports Complex. The game would start off well for the home Chiefs as they would get on the board 36 seconds into the game on a breakaway goal from Landen Duprey and that is where the first period would end as it would be the only goal of the period. It would take all the way till the 14-minute mark if there was another goal in the second period. The Chiefs would find the net on a 5x3 powerplay goal by Ashtyn Caitlin as the Chiefs make it a 2-0 game. Then with 54 seconds left in the second period, the Chiefs would take control of the game with a goal from Adrian Barnes to make it 3-0. In the third period, the Saranac Chiefs' defense would stand tall hold the Knights' offense in check, and even kill a couple of penalties as they would secure the 3-0 victory. The Oswego State Lakers would be crowned the 2023 Comfort Inn Complex Winter Classic champions. It would be time for the championship of the 40th annual Comfort Inn Winter Classic at the Ronald B Stafford Arena and it would feature the classic rivalry this time with both of them ranked in the top 15 as the #15 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #9 Oswego State Lakers. The game would start off great for the home Cardinals as they would score just 1:46 into the game on the breakaway goal from Adam Tretowicz. The Lakers would fight back and tie the game on the powerplay goal from Daniel Colabufo at the 13:47 mark of the period. Then with 34 seconds left in the first, the Laker's powerplay would strike again this time from Quinn Warmuth for the 2-1 lead. That would be all the scoring for the game but that would not be the whole story as the Cardinals would have there chances throughout the last two periods to tie the game but the Laker's defense would stand tall. With the win, the Lakers would be named the 40th annual Comfort Inn Complex Winter Classic champions as the Cardinals fall to 9-4-2 on the season in front of a crowd of 1384. Wentworth Leopards Vs Potsdam State Bears Comfort Inn Winter Classic Consolation: January 7th 2023

Wentworth's Jack McGovern (1) with the save on Potsdam State's Drew Rose (6) as part of a 24-save winning effort. It would be the consolation game of the Comfort Inn Complex Winter Classic and would feature the Wentworth Leopards and the Potsdam State Bears. It would take a bit to get the game going but the Leopards would get the opening goal of the game at the 11:52 mark of the first period on the powerplay from Josh Faussett for the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there till just under five minutes left in the second period when the Leopards would strike again on the powerplay from Nikolas Sombrowski for the 2-0 lead. Then the Leopards would be looking to put the game away early in the third period with the powerplay with the goal by Nolan Lowe at 5:31 to make it 3-0 Leopards. although the Bears were not going to go out without a swing as they would score 56 seconds later from Ryan Mahlmeister to make it 3-1. With 7:54 left in the game, the Leopards would regain the three-goal lead at 4-1 on goal by Jacob Shankar. Although again the Bears would strike right back 37 seconds later on a goal by Michael McArthur to make it a two-goal game again at 4-2. The Bears would keep fighting and with just over five minutes left in the game they would make it a one-goal game on the powerplay goal from Drew Rose. That would end the comeback attempt by the Bears though although not without chances down the stretch including a 6x4 in the final minute that they could not find the equalizer on. Plattsburgh State's Brendan Young (15) with the off-balance shot from the face-off circle as he would add to two goals in the third period to seal the Cardinal's victory. It would be the second game of the day at the Comfort Inn Winter Classic and the host #15 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would be meeting up with the Wentworth Leopards for their first home game of 2023 in front of 1,100 fans. The game would start well for the home Cardinals as they would score just 2:13 into the game from Ryan Bonfield for the Cardinal's 1-0 lead. Although the Leopards were not just going lay down and let the Cardinals walk away with the game as they would even the game up at 1 at the 7:38 mark of the period on a goal from Luke Jefferies. The Cardinals would answer back in the final two minutes of the period on a goal from Luk Jirousek and take the 2-1 lead at the break. Although the Leopards were not going away and would come back again and tie the game at 2 at the 11:18 mark of the second period on a goal from Nolan Lowe. Once again the Cardinals would answer late in the period this time with under 30 seconds left in the period on a goal from Bennett Stockdale to take a 3-2 lead into the second intermission. From there Cardinals would hold on for the win as Brendan Young would score twice in the third period to seal the game away for the 5-2 victory. In the winning effort, Jacob Hearne would make 20 saves as the Cardinals go to 9-3-2 on the season and will face arch-rival #9 Oswego State Lakers in the championship of the Comfort Inn Winter Classic. It would be the opening game of the 40th Comfort Inn Complex Winter Classic as the Potsdam State Bears and #9 Oswego State Lakers would face off. The upset-minded Bears would get the first goal of the game just 5:24 in from Jack Bloem to take the 1-0 lead. That is where the game would stand till the 5:31 mark of the second period when the Bears would double their lead at 2-0 on the Justin Vernace goal. The Lakers would finally have an answer at the 8:30 mark of the period on the Connor Sleeth goal to make it a 2-1 game. Although just 90 seconds later the Bears would regain their two-goal lead on the Josh Bifolch goal at 3-1. Although the Lakers would come back on the powerplay about three minutes later and make it a one-goal game again. That is where the game would stay till about the 11:30 mark of the third period when Shane Bull would score for the Lakers and tie the game at three. That would be where the game would officially end as there was no scoring the rest of the period or in overtime but because of the tourney they would go to the shootout to decide it and the Lakers would win 2-0. Saranac's Nolan Miner (9) with the goal on the short side over the goalie to get the scoring started. It would be the battle for AC North as the two teams that both call Ameri-can North Arena home would faceoff in their first of two meetings on the season as the Saranac Chiefs would meet up with the Plattsburgh Hornets. The game would start off very well for the Chiefs as they would get the opening goal of the game just a minute into the game from Nolan Miner and the 1-0 lead. Then with about ten minutes left in the period, they would extend the lead to 2-0 on the goal by Ben Phinney and that's where the first period would end. In the second period, the Chiefs would stay hot as they would make it a 3-0 game just 2:25 into the period on a goal from Evan Patrie. Later in the period, the Chiefs would strike again staying hot as Landen Duprey would score to make it a 4-0 game. Then the third period would start just like the other two with a quick from Zach O'Connell although this time Jonathan Roy would add his own goal right behind O'Connell and make it a 6-0 game. From there the Chiefs would do the rest and get the 6-0 shutout victory and go to 4-1-2 on the season while the Hornets fall to 1-3 season. Gallery

Saranac's Zach O'Connell (88) would come down on the breakaway and score the game-winner in overtime and the dogpile was on. It would be the start of Champlain Valley Athletic Conference play as the Saranac Chiefs would host the Northeastern Clinton Cougars in a rematch of last year's semifinal game that saw the Cougars win in overtime. The game would start off well for the Chiefs as they would score just 1:44 into the match on the Landon Duprey to make it a 1-0 game. However, the lead would be short-lived as the Cougars would tie the game at one at the three-minute mark of the match from Owen Ebersol. That is where the game would stay till the 1:24 mark of the second period and in total, the Cougars would score three times in the first 5:20 of the period from Peyton Palmer, and two from Winnie Simpson for the 4-1. However, the Chiefs would go on a streak of their own scoring 4 goals in the tens and retaking the lead at 5-4 on goals from Nolan Miner (twice), Zach O'Connell, and Evan Patrie. Then during the third period, the Cougars would keep on fighting and get the equalizer at the 11:27 mark from Eddie Bullriss and from there the game would go to overtime. In that overtime period, Zach O'Connell would get the game-winner at 1:55 on the breakaway goal for the second of the night. The Beekmantown Eagles would celebrate as they get the game-winner and stay perfect on the season. It would be a non-league game as the Beekmantown Eagles would host from Section X the Potsdam Sandstoners as both teams were looking to get the 2023 portion of the season started the right way. The game would start off well for the home Eagles as they would get on the board at about the five minutes of the first period on the Zach Lapier goal. The lead would only last about five minutes as the Sandstoners would tie the game at one. The game would stay there til there the 12:00 mark of the period when Sam Bingel would score to make it a 2-1 Eagles lead. The lead would be short-lived as the Sandstoners would tie the game at two. The Sandstoners would start off the second period hot as they would score three goals in the first two minutes and take a 5-2 lead. Then just 19 seconds later the Eagles would slow rush as they would get their own goal from Zach Lapier for his second of the game and make it a 5-3 game. Then at the 5:16 mark of the period, the Eagles would make it a one-goal game on the power play goal at 5-4. Then with under two minutes left in the period, the Sandstoners would regain their two-goal lead at 6-4. Then at the 7:48 mark of the third period, Cooper Burdo would score to make it a one-goal game again at 6-5. Then with 6:30 minutes left in the game, the Eagles would come all the way back and tie the game on Zach Lapier's third goal of the game. The game would head to overtime and in that period Keegan Seamone would score 1:44 into the overtime and get the 7-6 win. In the winning effort, the Eagles would stay perfect on the season at 7-0 while the Sandstoners fall to 5-3 on the season. Gallery
