Plattsburgh's State' Lilly Stumm with the scramble goal in front of the net to give them the 4-0 lead. It would be the semi-finals of the Northeast Womens Hockey League and the top-seeded Plattsburgh State Cardinals would be hosting the four-seeded Canton Kangaroos at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena in front of 475 fans. The Cardinals would open up the scoring just 4:47 into the game on the Mae Olshansky goal. Then around the 12:30 mark of the period the Cardinals would get two goals in under a minute from Sara Krauseneck and Holly Schmelzer for the 3-0 lead after the first period. The game would stay there till the 12:05 mark of the second period when Lily Stumm would score to extend the Cardinal's lead to 4-0. Although just over two minutes later the Kangaroos would get on the board to break up the shutout and make it a three-goal game again on the Mathilde Couture goal at 4-1. Then with just over 90 seconds left in the period the Cardinals would regain the four-goal lead at 5-1 on the Su An Cho goal. In the third period, the Cardinals would put the icing on the cake as they would get a pair of goals from Bridget Orr and Sierra Benjamin for the 7-1 victory. In the winning effort, Ashley Davis would make 17 saves as they go to 24-2. With the win, the Cardinals will host the NEWHL Championship next weekend against the winner of Cortland State and Oswego State on March 4th. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Mae Olshansky (21) crashes the net as she goes after her second goal of the afternoon. It would be the home finale for the #3 Plattsburgh State Cardinals as they would be facing NEWHL foe the Canton Kangaroos in Women's Hockey at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena. The game would be even through the first period until there was 3:36 left in the period when the Cardinals Mae Olshansky would score to get the Cardinals on the board and take the 1-0 lead. Then in the second period the Cardinals would score again to double there lead at 2-0 on Sara Krauseneck goal. Although the Kangaroos would keep fighting and they would make it a one goal game on the power play goal from Danika Lalonde. Although the one goal game would be short lived as the Cardinals would regain there two goal lead just two minutes later on the Nicole Unsworth goal and make it a 3-1 game. Then in the third period the Cardinals would take control of the game with 9:05 left in the third period on the Sara Krauseneck second goal of the game for the 4-1 lead. From there the Cardinals defense would control the rest of the game and the Cardinals would get the win. In the winning effort Ashley Davis and Chloe Beaubin would combine for 16 saves as they go to 20-2 on the season. The #3 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would have a single game on the weekend as they would host the Canton Kangaroos in Northeast Women's Hockey action. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would have their chances throughout the game as they would outshoot the Kangaroos 35-16 on the game. Although the Kangaroos goaltender Sirena Alvarez would stand tall and keep them in the game with 35 saves on the night. The lone goal of the game would come at the 5:24 mark of the second period from Ciara Wall for the Cardinals as the Cardinals would get the 1-0 win. In the winning effort, the Cardinals would go to 15-2 on the season Lilla Nease would make 16 saves on the afternoon for the shutout win. The #3 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would have a single game on the weekend as they would host the Canton Kangaroos in Northeast Women's Hockey action. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would have their chances throughout the game as they would outshoot the Kangaroos 35-16 on the game. Although the Kangaroos goaltender Sirena Alvarez would stand tall and keep them in the game with 35 saves on the night. The lone goal of the game would come at the 5:24 mark of the second period from Ciara Wall for the Cardinals as the Cardinals would get the 1-0 win. In the winning effort the Cardinals would go to 15-2 on the season Lilla Nease would make 16 save on the afternoon for the shutout win. Plattsburgh State's Kyle Cremin (20) with the backhanded stop and flip to second for the out, The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would open up their home portion of their schedule with a non-conference doubleheader against the Canton Kangaroos at Chip Cummings Field. The first game would start off slow as there would be no scoring til the 4th inning when the Kangaroos would get on the board with a home run by Miner for the 1-0 lead. Although the Cardinals would answer back in the bottom, of the inning with a 6 run explosion highlighted by a two rbi triple by Lent for the 6-1 game. Although Canton would work their way back into the game with a three-run fifth inning. But in the bottom of the inning, the Cardinals would take control of the game with a nine-run inning highlighted by a three rbi double by Messersch and a 15-4 lead. Then in the sixth inning, the Cardinals would get three more runs thanks to some Canton errors but an 18-4 lead. In the seventh, the Cardinals would get another four runs to expand the lead to 22-4 highlighted by a pair of rbi singles by Cremin and Digiovanni. The scoring would stop in the eighth innings as the teams would each get 1 run as the Cardinals secure the 23-5 win and go to 7-6 on the season. After a 20 minute break, it would be time for game two of the doubleheader and in the third inning, the Cardinals would get the 1-0 lead on the Geraci hit by a pitch that brought the run-in. In the fourth inning, the Cardinals would expand their lead to 2-0 on the Lent sacrifice fly. In the top of the fifth, the Kangaroos would get on the board with a two rbi single by Kapfer and tie the game. The game would stay there till the sixth when the Cardinals take the lead back at 3-2 on an error. Although the Kangaroos would tie the game again in the top of the seventh on a rbi single by Kapfer. It would be the season opener for the Plattsburgh State Cardinals lacrosse team as they would host north country opponent the Canton Kangaroos in nonconference action on a windy afternoon at the Plattsburgh State Fieldhouse. The game would start off good for the home Cardinals as they would have a 4-2 lead after the first quarter with goals from Stephen Kane (twice), Zach Gill, and Donald Wood. In the second quarter, the Cardinals would start to take control of the game with a 4-0 quarter on goals from John Eiseman (twice), Michael Swift, and Matt Trypaluk for an 8-2 Cardinals lead at the intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Cardinals firepower would be there as they would have a 7-1 quarter on goals from Stephen Kane (a third of the night), Andrew Braverman, Matt Trypaluk (second of the night), John Eiseman (a third of the game), Logan Vilardi, Gustav Rugg and Zach Gill (second of the game) and take a controlling 15-3 lead into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the teams would tie with three goals each, and scoring for the Cardinals would be Michael Swift (second of the night), Stephen Kane (fourth and fifth of the game) as the Cardinals get the 18-6 win. In the winning effort, Zach Gill would lead the way with seven points in the game on two goals and seven assist as the Cardinals start their season at 1-0 and will head to the road this weekend to take on the Norwich Cadets.
