The Arizona State Sun Devils have been crowned the inaugural Adirondack Winter Invitational champions in a shootout win over the Cornell Big Red. It would be the championship of the first ever Adirondack Winter Invitational and it would pit a pair of top 20 teams in the country to battle it out at the Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, NY with 3,800 in attendance the #13 Arizona State Sun Devils would face off against the #17 Cornell Big Red. It would take till there were five minutes left in the opening period before we had our first goal from Cornell's Gabriel Seger on the powerplay for the 1-0 Big Red lead. Then in the second period, just 4:55 into the period the Big Red would take the 2-0 lead on the George Fegaras would score for the Big Red and give them a 2-0 lead. However, the Sun Devils would answer right back 17 seconds later to keep it a one-goal game at 2-1 on the Jackson Nieermayer goal. The game would stay there till the 43-second mark of the third period when the Sun Devils would tie the game up on the powerplay with the goal from Matthew Kopperud. That would be all on this night though as the goalies would stand tall between the pipes for the rest of the way there would be scoring in the rest of the third period and the five-minute overtime so the game goes in the books as a tie. However, because of the Adirondack Winter Invitational, the teams would go to the shootout and there the Arizona State Sun Devils would win the first-ever tournament 1-0 in the shootout. Arizona State's Tj Semptimphelter would make 25 saves while Cornell's Ian Shane would 18 in this evenly matched game now will just wait and see if the Arizona State Sun Devils will get the invite back to see if they can defend their title. #11 Massachusetts Minutemen Vs #17 Cornell Big Red December 29th 2023

Cornell's Ian Shane (30//0 with the pad save on Massachusetts' Aydar Suniev (16) to secure the Big Red win. It would be the opening game of the first-ever Adirondack Winter Invitational from the famed Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, NY and it would feature a couple of powerhouses as the #11 Massachusetts Minutemen would face off with the #17 Cornell Big Red. The game would be very physical through the first period and the rest of the game as there would be no scoring in the first but both teams would have their chances to get the opening goal and the Minutemen had an early goal waved off on the coach's challenge. In the second period, the Big Red would get the opening goal just 2:52 on Hoyt Stanley's first NCAA goal. However, the Minutemen would come charging back and tie the game up at one just four minutes later at the 6:08 mark of the period from Michael Cameron. The Big Red would regain the lead with just over five minutes left in the period on the Dalton Bancroft powerplay goal. The game would stay there through most of the third period until the Minutemen would pull the goalie for the extra stake and tie the game up on the scramble play from Ryan Lautenbach. From there the game would head to the five-minute 3x3 overtime and there would be no scoring so the game would officially end in a tie. Because this was a tournament weekend the shootout would be needed to decide the games tomorrow and the Cornell Big Red would win 2-0. In the winning effort for the Big Red, Ian Shane would make 23 saves as the Cornell Big Red head to the finals tomorrow where they will get the winner of #13 Arizona State Sun Devils and the Clarkson Golden Knights. Arizona State's TJ Semptimphelter (35) with the glove save on Clarkson's Jesse Tucker (17) on the scramble in front. It would be the second semi-final game of the Adirondack Winter Invitational and it would see the #13 Arizona State Sun Devils taking on the Clarkson Golden Knights in front of 4100 fans at the famed Herb Brooks Arena. The game would start well for the Golden Knights would get the opening goal of the game and the lone goal of the first period from Jesse Tucker at the 8:24 mark of the period for the 1-0 Knights lead. The game would stay there till the 5:27 mark of the second period when Ellis Rickwood would stretch the lead to 2-0 Knights. The Sun Devils would finally get on the board at the 9:14 mark of the period on the Jackson Niedermayer goal to cut the lead to 2-1. Then just 46 seconds into the third period the Sun Devils would tie the game at two on the short-handed goal by Charle Schoen. Then with just over minutes left in the game the Sun Devils would come back and take the lead on the Kyle Smolen goal. Then to put the icing on the cake the Sun Devils would add a pair of empty net goals from Tyler Gratton and Kyle Smolen and secure the 5-2 win. In the winning effort, Tj Semptimpheter would make 20 saves as they advance to the championship game tomorrow against the #17 Cornell Big Red. #11 Massachusetts Minutemen Vs Clarkson Golden Knights December 30th 2023

Clarkson's Ryan Taylor (28) sneaks it past Massachusetts Cole Brady (34) for the game-winning goal in overtime. It would be the third-place game of the first-ever Adirondack Winter Invitational and it would feature the #11 Massachusetts Minutemen and the Clarkson Golden Knights at the famed Herb Brooks Arena with a crowd of 3600 in attendance. The Minutemen would strike first just 4:48 into the game on the goal from Michael Cameron to get them off to the quick 1-0 lead. The Golden Knights would keep swinging through the rest of the period and would tie the game with 1:44 left in the period on the Ryan Taylor goal. However, the Minutemen would start the second period strong again and take the lead again 4:33 into the period on the Kenny Connors goal to make it 2-1. Then just about four minutes later at the 8:49 mark of the period the Minutemen would expand their lead to 3-1 on the Cole O'Hara goal. Once again the Golden Knights would come back swinging and make it a one-goal game at 3-2 on the Mathieu Gosselin goal with 6:09 left in the period. Then with 1:26 left in the period, the Golden Knights would tie the game at three on the Ayrton Martino goal. Then when the teams returned for the third period the Golden Knights took the 4-3 lead just 42 seconds into the period on an Anthony Romano short-handed goal. The Minutemen would not go away without a fight and they would tie the game at 4 on the Linden Alger goal with 11:30 left in the game. Although neither team would be able to get the edge before the end of the period and the teams went to overtime. Then with 2:39 left in the extra frame Ryan Taylor would light the lamp to send the Golden Knight faithful home happy with a 5-4 upset win over #11 Massachusetts Minutemen. It would be the second day of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and the opening game would see the Peru Nighthawks taking on the Seton Catholic Knights. The Nighthawks would start the game well and would be doubling up the Knights by the end of the first quarter with a 12-6 lead. In the second quarter, the Knights would keep up the fight and keep it close as the Nighthawks would win the quarter but only 12-8 and take a 24-14 lead into the break. When the teams returned for the third quarter the offense for the Nighthawks would step up and they would start to pull away with a 17-6 quarter take a 41-20 lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Knights would do their best not to let the deficit get any worse as the Nighthawks would have a 14-12 quarter and secure the 55-32 win. In the winning effort, Kobe Harris would lead the way with 14 points as the Nighthawks would get their first win of the season and go to 1-4 on the season while the Knights fell to 1-5. Gallery

Saranac's McKenna Brown (2) with the layup the guys over the defender for the score. It would be the second game of the second day of action from the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and it would see the Boquet Valley Griffins take on the Saranac Spartans. The Spartans would take the first quarter and get off to a dominant start with a 12-2 quarter. In the second quarter. In the second quarter, the Griffins would fight to keep it close and would actually win the quarter 12-10 but still would trail in the game 22-14. When the teams returned for the third quarter the Spartans would take back control of the game with a 18-9 quarter and expand their lead to 40-23. In the fourth quarter, the Spartans would put the final touches on the game with a 19-4 quarter and cruise to the 59-27 victory. In the winning effort, the Spartans would go to 5-1 on the season as Layla Pellerin would lead the way with 17 points while the Boquet Valley Griffins would fall to 4-5 on the season. Gallery

It would be the third game of the second day of the Clinton Community College Holiday Tournament and it would see the Boquet Valley Griffins and Saranac Spartans who both got wins yesterday so this game would decide who was the best on the boy's side. It would pit a couple of teams that were evenly matched and the top of the field and would be tied at fourteen after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the teams would still play tight but the Spartans would start to pull away with a 13-9 quarter and take a 27-23 lead into the intermission. In the third quarter, the Spartans would build on their slim lead with an offensive outpour as they would win the quarter 20-11 and take a 47-34 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Griffins would do their best to get back in the game with their best quarter of the day scoring 17 point surge but the Spartans would be able to match them at seventeen and the Spartans would get the 64-51 Spartans win and end Boquet Valley's perfect season. In the winning effort, the Spartans would go to 2-3 while the Griffins fell to 7-1 while Griffins Jackson Hooper would lead all scorers with a game-high 23 points. Gallery

Peru's Vanessa Lawyer (10) would get a finger on the shot attempt of Malone's Lilliana Teressa Sosa (1). It woi;d be the last game of the 2023 edition of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and it would feature the Malone Huskies and the Peru Nighthawks it would be one of the toughest games over the two days. The game might start slow but it wasn't for the lack of excitement as the Nigthawks and Huskies would be tied at six after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Huskies would take the slim 2-point into the break with a 7-5 quarter and a 13-11 lead at the break. In the third quarter, the game would still be tight but the Nighthawks would tie the game up at 24 as they head to the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Nighthawks would pull ahead with an 8-7 quarter and hold on to get the 32-31 win With the win the Nighthawks would go to 4-3 on the season and Huskies would fall to 2-2 on the season and Reese Duprey for the Nighthawks would lead all scorers with 18 points. Saranac's Henry Napper (14) rises above the rim and snatches the rebound for the Spartans and sends them on the breakout. It would be the opening day of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and the third game of the day would feature the Seton Catholic Knights and the Saranac Spartans. It would be tight through the first quarter as the Spartans would have a slim 13-12 lead after the first eight minutes of the game. In the second quarter, the Spartans would find their stride and break the game wide open with a 26-6 quarter and take a 39-18 lead into the intermission break. When the teams returned for that third quarter the teams would be evenly matched as the Spartans would only win the quarter 16-10 and take the 55-28 lead into the fourth quarter. In that quarter the teams would stay evenly matched as the Spartans would win the quarter 10-6. Although with that second quarter that got very lopsided, the Spartans would get the big 65-34 victory. With the win Henry Napper would lead the way as the Spartans get their first win of the season and go to 1-3 on the season while the Seton Catholic Knights fall to 1-5 on the season. Both teams are back in action tomorrow as the Spartans will meet up with the Boquet Valley Griffins and the Seton Catholic Knights will get the Peru Nighthawks. Gallery

Boquet Valley's Jackson Hooper (3) takes it through the lane and the traffic and lays it off the window for the score as part of a seventeen point game. It would be the opening game of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and we would feature the Peru Nighthawks and the Boquet Valley Griffins in Boy's Basketball action. The game would start tight as the Griffins would have a slim 16-12 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter though the Griffins would start to pull away with a 13-8 quarter and take a 29-20 lead at the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter the Nighthawks would do their best to stay with the Griffins as the Griffins would win the quarter by a slim 13-10 and take a 42-30 lead into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Griffins would double up the Nighthawks with a 14-7 quarter and secure the 56-37 victory. In the winning effort, Jackson Hooper would lead the way for the Griffins with 17 points as they go to 7-0 and stay undefeated on the season as they will take on the Saranac Spartans on Day 2 of the tournament. Northeastern Clinton's Owen Ebersole (14) would tap in the puck in the open net as part of a three-goal game. It would be the consolation game of the Appebee's Winter Classic and would feature the Guilderland Storm and the Northeastern Clinton Cougars. In the opening period the teams would combine for 5 goals and the Storm would have a 3-2 lead. The three for the Storm would come from Keegan McGovern and Klaidi Ginghi while scoring for the Cougars would be Scott Wryre and Owen Ebersole. In the second period, the Storm would add another two goals from Quinn Rice while the Cougars would add one more from Winnie Simpson as the Storm would take a 5-3 lead into the third period. In that third period, the teams would combine for 8 goals. The Storm would have a pair of goals in the period from Quinn Rice and Joe Kosier. While the Cougars would get 6 goals in the period including a span in the period where the Cougars would score 4 goals in 3:12 scoring in the period would be Owen Ebersole (twice), Winnie Simpson (three), and Garrett Pilon as the Northeastern Clinton Cougars would get the 9-7 win. Applebee's Winter Classic Championship: #11 Rye Garnets @ Beekmantown Eagles December 23rd 2023

The Beekmantown Eagles are crowned the 2023 Applebee's Winter Classic champions. It would be the championship game of the latest edition of the Applebee's Winter Classic and it would feature the #11 Rye Garnets and the host Beekmantown Eagles. The host Eagles would get off to a good start as they would score just 2:4 into the game on the Edward Sweenor goal. Then just under two minutes later the Eagles score again this time from Sam Bingel putting him just 1 point away from 100 points in his career. Then with 3:38 left in the first period, the Eagles would score again as Edward Sweenor would get his second of the game for the 3-0 Eagles lead. In the early moments of the second period, the Garnets would get on the board to make it a two-goal game on the Ryan Draddy goal. Then at the 5:02 mark of the second period the Eagles would get a goal lead back at 4-1 on the Zack Lapier goal but Sam Bingel would get the assist to secure his 100th career point. The Eagles would start to put the icing on the cake just 55 seconds after the Louis Swennor goal to give the Eagles the 4-1 lead. Then with three minutes left in the game freshmen Edward Sweenor would finish off his hat trick and give the host Eagles the upset 6-1 win and the Winter Classic title. Gallery.

Beekmantown's Sam Bingel (11) cuts the corner behind the net for the shot on net as he would have a three-point night. It would be the opening day and opening game of the 2023 edition of the Applebee's Winter Classic from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena. The Storm would get the opening goal of the game with 3:30 left in the first period on the Keegan McGovern goal. The Eagles would come back and tie the game up at one on the Edward Sweenor goal with 41 seconds left in the period. In the second period, the Eagles would get a pair of goals from Edward Sweenor and Novak Jarus as the Storm would get one but the Eagles would take the 3-2 lead into the third period. In the third period, the teams would combine for 6 goals. The Eagles would get the first goal of the period just three minutes into the period from Louis Sweenor as he dumped the puck into the zone for the 4-2 lead. The Storm would answer right back 30 seconds later to make it a one-goal game again at 4-3 on the Klaidi Gijini goal. From there the Eagles would come back with three unanswered goals from Sam Bingel, Edwin Sweenor, and Keegin Rodier as they would secure the 7-3 win. In the winning effort, the Eagles would go to 2-1 on the season as they will play the Rye Garnet tomorrow to see who the winner of the 2023 Applebee's Winter Classic championship is. Gallery.

Applebee's Winter Classic Day 1: Rye Garnet Vs Northeastern Clinton Cougars December 22nd 2023

It would be the second game of the 2023 edition of the Applebee's Winter Classic from the Ronald B Stafford Arena and it would feature the Northeastern Clinton Cougars and the Rye Garnet. In the opening period, the teams would combine for eight goals with the Rye getting six goals while Northeastern Clinton would get goals from Wayne Simpson and Owen Ebersole. In the second period, there would be another three goals as the Garnets would extend their lead to 8-3. In the third period, the teams would combine for another seven goals with the Garnets getting four goals and Cougars getting another three thanks to Owen Ebersole and Wayne Simpson as the Rye Garnet would get the 12-6 win. The winning effort the Rye Garnet will play the Beekmantown Eagles for the tournament title. While the Northeastern Clinton Cougars will get the Guilderland Storm in the 3rd place game. Gallery.

Saranac Spartans @ Rice Memorial Knights December 20th 2023

Saranac's Evan Patrie (6) and Rice Memorial's Chais Lyford (23) have a meeting of minds as they go after the loose puck during the hard-hitting contest. For their third straight game, the Saranac Spartans would travel out of state and take on the Rice Memorial Knights from Burlington, Vermont at the Cairns Arena and would look to continue their good weekend. It would take most of the opening period but the home Knights would get the first goal of the game with 1:54 left in the period on Preston Wheeler's goal to give the Knights the 1-0 lead. The Spartans would keep coming though and tie the game up about halfway through the second period on the Adrian Barnes go from the offensive faceoff circle to beat the goal. However, just about four minutes later the Knights would answer back and retake the one-goal lead at 2-1 on the Oliver Quong powerplay goal. The game would stay there till there were just under six minutes left in the game when the Spartans would tie the game up again on the Ryan Campbell goal. From there both teams would give their chances for the game-winner in the last minutes of the period and the five-minute overtime so the team would end the game tied at 2. So the Spartan's record will go to 2-2-1 on the season as they head into the Christmas break and there first league game against the Beekmantown Eagles on December 30th at A.C. North Arena. Gallery

Manchester Invitational Championship Night December 16th, 2023

Brady Fielder would ride the #4 ranked bull in the world UTZ Bestex Smokestack to the only 90-point ride of the weekend at 91 points and claim victory. It would be the second night of the 2024 edition of the PBR Manchester Invitational from SNHU Arena and there would be a sell-out crowd in attendance with over 11 thousand western sports fans in attendance. It would be the 4th time the PBR would come to Manchester, New Hampshire and we would see if we could have our fourth different event winner. It would start with the 40 best cowboys in the world all getting a second chance to ride the eight seconds before they would bring back the top 12 for the championship round. When the dust settles there would be only three riders covering all three bulls on the weekend with Brady Fielder getting the best of them all with a 260.25 for the weekend rounding out the top three would be Kaique Pacheco second with 254.75 and Alan De Souza with 252.50. With Brady Fielder's win, it would be their first career win on the PBR Unleash the Beast Tour and the first win on the tour for anyone from Australia since 2015. With the win, Brady Fielder would move to the 4th spot in the world title chance chasing Cassio Dias as they will take a week off for the Christmas break before they head to Albany on December 29th and 20th to finish off the 2023 portion of the season as the road continues to the World Finals in Dallas, Texas, and ATT Stadium. Manchester Invitational Round 1 December 15th, 2023

Boudreaux Campbell would be ableto ride Tall Boy for 83.50 as he would be leaning right over the front of the bull for the 8 seconds ride to get the weekend started. The Professional Bull Riders and the Unleash the Beast would pull into Manchester, New Hampshire, and the fourth stop on the 2024 tour with 40 of the best bull riders in the world for the fourth year in a row for the Manchester Invitational at the SNHU Arena. The first half of the night would be going the way of the Bulls as there would be only 4 qualified rides of the first 18 outs. The the second half of the night cowboys would get the upper hand on the Bulls as they would ride 11 out of the last 22 as we get to the best Cowboys in the world. There would be a few issues along the way as there would have to be six rides throughout the night. When the dust would settle on the opening night there would be a tie at the top of the pile with A pair of Brazilians Eduardo Aparecido and Felipe Furlan tied at 86.25 but the top 6 would only be separated by 2 with Silvano Alves, Jesse Petri, Lucas Divino, and Alan de Souza rounding it out for the night. As we head into the second day with round 2 and then the top 12 will come back for the championship short go to settle the title for the Manchester Invitational. Gallery.

Beekmantown's Payton Prliament (13) with the short jumper in the paint over Plattsburgh's Bailey Hewson (10) for the deuce. It would be the classic crosstown rivalry tonight in section VII girl's basketball as the Plattsburgh Hornets would be hosting the Beekmantown Eagles in an early season match-up. The game would be tight and low-scoring through the first quarter as it would be tied at seven. In the second quarter, the teams would start to find their shot and the scoring would show it as the Eagles would have an 18-10 quarter and take a 25-17 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half the Eagles would stay hot and take the third quarter 14-9 to take a 39-26 lead into the final quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles would go into defensive mode and protect their lead as the Hornets win the quarter 10-9. However, the Eagles would hold on and get the win in the crosstown match 48-36. In the winning effort, the Eagles would even up their record at 2-2 on the season as they head into their next contest on the 19th against Northeastern Clinton. As for the Hornets, they will fall to 1-2 on season and they will be right back at it on Saturday in a nonleague match against the Chateaugay Bulldogs. Gallery

Seton Catholic's Grace Trombley (12) takes it and curls it around the Wildcats defender after she retrieves the defensive rebound. It would be a match-up inside the Mountain Valley Conference of Section VII as the Seton Catholic Knights would host the Schroon Lake Wildcats in Girl's Basketball. It would be a tight and low scoring through the first quarter as the Knights would hold the slim 6-5 lead after the first 8 minutes of the game. In the second quarter, we would have a complete repeat of the first quarter as the Knights would once again lead the quarter 6-5 and then take the slim 12-10 lead into the intermission break. When the teams returned for the third quarter after the break the Knights would bring their offense with them and win the quarter 14-6 as they got hot and would have a 26-16 lead heading into the final quarter. In that final quarter the Wildcats would do everything they could try to get back in the game and their defense would shut out the Knights in the quarter but the Wildcats could only get eight points and the Knights would hold on for the 26-24. In the winning effort, the Knights would get back to 500 on the season at 2-2 as they head into their game next week with Chazy. The Schroon Lake Wildcats fall to 1-2 on the season as they will play Boquet Valley in their next game on Friday night. Gallery

It would be the second week of Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Wrestling as the Peru Nighthawks would host the Northern Adirondack Bobcats it would be close in the early going but the Northern Adirondack Bobcats would pull away for the 49-24 victory. In the winning effort, the Northern Adirondack Bobcats would go to 2-0 in the section while the Peru Nighthawks fall to 1-1 as the teams hit the quarter pole of the sectional season. #2 Plattsburgh State Cardinals @ Buffalo State Bengals December 8th 2023

The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would make the trek across the state to take on the Bengals of Buffalo State in SUNYAC Men's Hockey. The game would not start well for the Cardinals as Connor Bizal would light the lamp for the Bengals just 1:54 into the game to give them the early 1-0 lead. The Bengals wouldn't waste time and expanding on their lead as it would go to 2-0 at the 6:22 mark of the period on the Tyler Penree goal. That is where the game would stay till the 4:58 mark of the second period when the Cardinals would get on the board on the Bennett Stockdale goal to cut the deficit to 2-1. The Bengals wouldn't waste time in regaining their two-goal lead on the Joe Glamos power-play goal to make it 3-1. However, the Cardinals would answer right back forty seconds later on the Thomas Maia goal and make it a one-goal game again at 3-2. Then just four minutes later the Cardinals would come back and tie the game at three on the Trey Thomas goal. The game would stay there till the 5:11 mark of the third period when the Bengals would take the lead again on the Vadim Kiriakov goal at 4-3. Once again the Cardinals would answer back in thirty seconds as Aaron Catron would score and tie the game at four. Then with just over two minutes left in the game, the Bengals would take the lead for the third and final time at 5-4 on the Parker Allison powerplay goal. They would add an empty netter to secure the 6-4 win. In the win Marcus Cumberworth would make 41 saves as they went to 5-8 while Elli Shiller would make 18 saves as the Cardinals fell to 9-2 on the season, Th Plattsburgh State Cardinals will be back in action tomorrow as they head to Fredonia and look to end their two-game losing streak, Gallery

Niskayuna Mohawks @ Beekmantown Eagles December 3rd 2023

Beekmantown's Zach Lapier (19) breaks in on the net and sticks over the shoulder of the goalie for one of his six goals on the afternoon in the winning effort. It would be the season opener for the annual powerhouse of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Beekmantown Eagles as they would host the Niskayuna Mohawks. The Eagles would come out in the first period and take quick control of the game as they would score five goals Zach Lapier (three) and Sam Bingel (twice) while the Mohawks would get a lone goal as the Eagles would take the 5-1 lead into the first intermission. In the second period it would be the same as the first as the Eagles would dominate again with another five-goal period from Louis Sweenor (twice), Zach Lapier, Sam Bingel, and Keegin Rodier while the Mohawks would another one as the Eagles would take a 10-2 lead into the third period. In that third period, the Eagles would another three goals with help from Sam Bingel and Zach Lapier as the Eagles would cruise to the 13-3 win. In the win, the Beekmantown Eagles would start their season 1-0 while the Niskayuna Mohawks would fall to 0-2 on the year. Oswego State Lakers @ #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals December 2nd 2023

Plattsburgh State's Ryan Hogg(19) takes it to the corner and around the back as the Lakers defender stays on the hip. It would be the second game of the weekend for the Plattsburgh State Cardinals and they would host long-time SUNYAC rival the Oswego State Lakers at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena as they look to start 10-0 in front of 2160 fans. Although the game would not start the right way for the home Cardinals the Lakers would get the opening goal of the game with 7:41 left in the opening period on the Shane Bull powerplay goal. The game would stay there til the early stages of the second period when the Lakers would extend the lead to 2-0 just 1:16 on the Brock Krulicki. The Cardinals would keep fighting and get the game back within one just three minutes later on the Lonan Bulger powerplay goal to make it a 2-1 game. The Lakers would retake the two-goal lead at the 12:31 mark of the second period on the Daniel Colabufo goal to make it 3-1. Once again the Cardinals would get it to a one-goal game at 3-2 with under 90 seconds left in the period on the Bennett Stockdale goal. However, it would be short-lived as the Lakers would score just 18 seconds later on the Tyler Flack goal to make it a 4-2 Lakers to end the second period. The Cardinals would come back hot in the third period and make it a one-goal game for the third time just 3:10 into the period on Bennett Stockdale's second goal of the game. However, it would not be enough for the Cardinals as the Lakers added an empty netter late and the Cardinals lost 5-3. Niskayuna Mohawks @ Plattsburgh Hornets December 2nd 2023

Niskayuna's Luca Coppola (2) with the block shot as he sticks the leg out on Plattsburgh's Patchen (11). It would be the opening afternoon of the high school hockey season for the Plattsburgh Hornets as they would host the Niskayuna Mohawks from section II at the Ameri-Can North Sports Center. The visiting Mohawks would get the opening goal of the game just 2:20 in from Max Kenny for the 1-0 lead. Then with just about three minutes left in the period the Mohawks and Kenny would score again for the 2-0 lead to end the period. The Hornets would come out on fire in the second period and make it a one-goal game on the Brayden Calkins goal. The Hornets would keep coming and tie the game up just two minutes later. The game would stay tied for most of the period but the Mohawks would regain the one-goal lead at 3-2 on the Luca Coppola goal with just under five minutes left in the period. In the third period the offenses on both teams would come alive as they would combine for five goals with the Mohawks winning the period 3-2 scoring for the Mohawks would be Jackson Rumsey and Jack Clark (twice) as the Mohawks got the 6-4 victory. In the win, the Niskayuna Mohawks start the season 1-0 while the Plattsburgh Hornets start at 0-1. The Nisyakuna Mohawks will finish off their weekend trip to the North Country as they will take on the Beekmentown Eagles on December 3rd at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena.. Gallery

The teddy bears would go flying after the Tio D'Addario goal in the first period. It would be the annual teddy bear toss night at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena as the #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Cortland State Red Dragons as they would look to continue their undefeated season in front of just over 1500 fans. It would take the 7:12 mark of the first period before Tio D'Addario would score for the Cardinals and then the Bears would go flying. Then with just over a minute left in the period the Cardinals would extend their lead to 2-0 on the Thomas Maia goal. The game would stay there till the 11:07 mark of the second period Aaron Catron for the lone goal of the second period. It would take long into the third period for a goal as the Cardinals would score just 25 seconds in on the Josh Belgrave goal to make it a 4-0 game. With just about 5:30 left in the game, the Red Dragons would end the shutout bid with the Domenic Settino goal to make it 4-1. Although just over 40 seconds later the Cardinals would get the 4-goal lead back on Luk Jirousek and just over two minutes later Jirousek would score again to secure the 6-1 victory. In the winning effort, the Cardinals would stay perfect on the season at 9-0 as Eli Shiller would make 18 saves on the night. The Cardinals will look to extend their undefeated season tomorrow night as it's the big rivalry game of the season as the Oswego State Lakers come to the Ronald B. Gallery
