The game would not start well for the Cardinals as Connor Bizal would light the lamp for the Bengals just 1:54 into the game to give them the early 1-0 lead. The Bengals wouldn't waste time and expanding on their lead as it would go to 2-0 at the 6:22 mark of the period on the Tyler Penree goal. That is where the game would stay till the 4:58 mark of the second period when the Cardinals would get on the board on the Bennett Stockdale goal to cut the deficit to 2-1. The Bengals wouldn't waste time in regaining their two-goal lead on the Joe Glamos power-play goal to make it 3-1. However, the Cardinals would answer right back forty seconds later on the Thomas Maia goal and make it a one-goal game again at 3-2. Then just four minutes later the Cardinals would come back and tie the game at three on the Trey Thomas goal. The game would stay there till the 5:11 mark of the third period when the Bengals would take the lead again on the Vadim Kiriakov goal at 4-3. Once again the Cardinals would answer back in thirty seconds as Aaron Catron would score and tie the game at four. Then with just over two minutes left in the game, the Bengals would take the lead for the third and final time at 5-4 on the Parker Allison powerplay goal. They would add an empty netter to secure the 6-4 win.
