Plattsburgh State's Trey Thomas (14) with the hard open ice hit on Norwich's Paul Schmid (19) as they were going after the loose puck. It would be a matchup inside the top of NCAA Division III Men's Hockey at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena as the #4 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host long-time nonconference rival the #12 Norwich Cadets in front of 1300 passionate fans for the midweek tilt. The home Cardinals would waste little time in getting the opening goal of the game just 5:28 into the game on the Josh Belgrave goal. They would stay there till the 3:51 mark of the second period when the Cadets would get the equalizer from Owen Sclisizzi and tie the game at one. Then just about two minutes later the Cadets would forge ahead on the powerplay goal from Clark Kerner for the 2-1 lead. The Cardinals were not going to let the Cadets lead last long as they would score three minutes later and tie the game at two on the Trey Thomas goal. The game would stay there till the 11:33 mark of the third period when the teams would combine for four goals in just over six minutes of action scoring would be Aaron Catroon and Jake Lanyi for the Cardinals Johnny Johnson and Ben Van Waterschoot for the Cadets. From there they would have no more scoring in the final two minutes of regulation and the five minutes of three-on-three for overtime. As the Cardinals would get the tie on the night and go to 15-3-2 on the season as Elli Shiller would make 25 saves on the night. Saranac's Landon Dyuprey (89) with the shot on net as he would core one of his two goals on the night. It would be the second meeting of the year for the Saranac Spartans and Plattsburgh Hornets at both their home rinks the Ameri-can North Sports Center in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference. It would take till the midway mark of the first period that the Saranac Spartans would take the lead on the Landon Giroux goal to give the Spartans the 1-0 lead. Then with just about 3:30 left in the opening period, the Spartans would double their lead on the Landon Duprey goal and that's how the first period would end. Then again about halfway through the second period the Spartans would strike and take a 3-0 on Landon Giroux's second goal of the game. However, the underdog Hornets would not go quite down three they would score at the 1112 mark of the period on a turnover in front of the net that Ben Beizo would slam away for the goal to make it a 3-1 game. Then just about 90 seconds later the Hornets would strike again this time from Braeden Calkins to make it a one-goal game at 3-2 and that's how the second period was. In the third period, the Spartans would waste little time regaining the two-goal lead at 4-2 on the second Landon Duprey goal of the night at the 4:37 mark. Then at the ten-minute mark of the third Landon Giroux would score to complete his hat trick and make it a 5-2 game. Then with just about two minutes left in the game, Ashytn Caitlin would score on the powerplay as the Spartans would secure the 6-2 victory. In the winning effort, Mason Patnode would make 24 saves as the Spartans go to 8-6-1 on the season as they head to Lake George region for a pair of games this weekend. As for the Hornets Owen Chapple would make 40 saves on the night as they fall to 1-14 on the season and their next tilt Wednesday night against the Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers at Amer-can North Sports Center. Beekmantown's Zach Lapier (19) would come in on a snip it by the goalie as part of a multiple-goal game. It would be a nonsectional matchup in NYSPHSAA Boy's Hockey action as the #10 Beekmantown Eagles would host the Potsdam Sandstoners at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena. The Eagles would get the opening goal of the game just 36 seconds into the game on the Edward Sweenor goal. From there they would be off to the races as they would add five more goals in the period with Novak Jarus (twice), Pryce Parker, Caden Columbus, and Zach Lapier. The Sandstoners would be able to light the lamp once with a goal by Ryan Charlebois as the period would end with the Eagles leading 6-1. In the second period, the Eagles would stay hot as they added another three goals as Zach Lapier (the second of the night), Novak Jarus (the second of the night), and Sam Bingel would score as the Eagles took the 9-1 lead. In the third period, the teams would be going through the motions as the outcome was a long time ago determined and the Sandstoners would win the period 3-2 but the Eagles would hold on for the 11-4 win Eagles go to 12-2 and the Sandstoners fall to 2-11 on the season. Plattsburgh State's Emily Kaspzak (22) with the lone goal game on the scramble in front of the net. The #3 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Williams Ephs from the NESCAC in their last nonconference of the season at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena in front of 400 loud fans. It would be a very evenly matched affair on a Saturday afternoon with both teams having their chances to take control of the game early. In the end, there would only be one goal scored on this Saturday afternoon with that going to Emily Kasprzak at the 5:22 mark of the second period. From there defense would be the name of the game with Lilla Nease making 31 saves for the shutout win as the Cardinals go to 19-2-1 on the season. Saranac's Landen Duprey (89) slides it past the stretched-out Lakers goalie for one of his two goals on the night. It would be a trip up to Lake Placid and the home of the 1980 and 1932 Winter Olympic games as the Saranac Spartans would face off with the upstart Saranac Lake Lake Placid Lakers at the Jack Shea 1932 Rink. They would be back and forth through the first ten of games and the teams would have their chances. The Spartans would finally break through with the opening goal of the game at the 10:09 period when Gabe Moore would get the Spartans on the board. The game would stay there till the second period when the Spartans would extend their lead to 2-0 on the Landen Duprey goal at the 1:23 mark. The Spartans would look to take control of the game of the game as Landen Duprey would strike again and the Spartans would take a 3-0 lead 5 minutes into the second period. The Lakers would keep fighting throughout the period and break through and break up the shutout at the 10;41 mark of the period when Kellen Duffy would score and make it a 3-1 game. The game would stay there the rest of the period and till the 9:36 mark of the third period, Adrian Barmes would score and make it a 4-1 game. Then with 2:30 left in the game, the Spartans would put the icing on the cake as Brody MaCombwe would score and the Saranac Spartans secured the 5-1 win. In the winning effort, Shawn McLane would make 23 saves as they go to 7-6-1 on the season while the Lakers fall to 3-7-1 on the season. The Saranac Spartans will be back in action at home on January 26th against the Plattsburgh Hornets while the Lakers will be playing the Northeastern Clinton Cougars. Gallery.

Plattsburgh State's Zsofia Pazmandi (37) with the goal as she fakes out the goalie and slides it across the line the score. It would be a nonconference battle within the top ten of the country in women's hockey as the #3 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #6 Middlebury Panthers at the Ronald Stafford Ice Arena in front of 350 fans in a midweek tilt. The game would be very tight through the first period both teams would have their chances to get on the board but the scoreboard would still be blank after the end of the period. In the second period, it would start the same. The Cardinals would break through and get the opening goal of the game at the 4:54 mark of the second period on a goal from Zsofia Pazmandi for the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there till the last 100 seconds of the period when the Cardinals would take the 2-0 lead on the Ivy Boric goal. The Panthers would answer right back a minute later and get the game back within one on the Molly McQueen goal to make it a 2-1 game. In the winning effort for the Cardinals Lilla Nease would make 20 saves for the win as they go to 15-2-1 on the season and will be back in action at home this Saturday against Williams College. Plattsburgh State's Mae Olshaney (18) with the rebound goal to give the Cardinals the 4-0 lead. It would be the second game of a two-game series for the Buffalo State Bengals as they would travel to the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena to take on the #4 Plattsburgh State Cardinals in SUNYAC Women's Hockey and celebrate the 43rd birthday of Burghy the Cardinals mascot. The game would be played very evenly through the first period as the Cardinals would have the lone goal of the period with just over two minutes left on the Emma McClean goal. However in the second period, the Cardinals would find their offense and they would go on a stretch of four goals in a span of 5:25 in the middle of the period with the goals coming from Mattie Norton, Emily Kasprzak, Mae Olshansky, and Taya Balfour and take the commanding 5-0 lead after the second period. From there defenses on both teams would stand tall as there was no scoring the rest of the game. However, that would not be for a lack of effort by the Cardinals as they would finish with a season-high 68 shots on net. The Cardinals go to 14-2-1 on the season and clinched the SUNYAC Women's Hockey first regular season title in conference history and Lila Nease would have another shutout. It will be a quick turnaround for the Lady Cardinals as they will be back in action Tuesday night in a non-conference tilt against long-time rival Middlebury in a game that was postponed a couple of weeks ago due to bad weather. Saranac's Landen Duprey (88) with the opening goal of the game to give the Spartans the 1-0 lead. It would be the second straight night the Saranac Spartans would be hosting a team from central New York and this time it would be division 1 Fayetteville Manlius Hornets at the A.C. North Sports Center. The game would be very physical at times but mostly clean hitting and the first period would be very even as there would be no scoring in the opening period. The first goal could come about halfway through the second period on the rebound goal by Landen Duprey to make it a 1-0 game. That is where the game would remain until the 6:20 mark of the third period when Brody McComber would get the goals as it tipped off the goal glove and in. The Hornets would do their best to make it interesting down the stretch as they would score with just over seven minutes left in the game on the Joey Leveroni goal to make it 2-1. However, in the closing minute of the game, the Spartans would put the game away with an empty net goal to secure the 3-1 win and even up their record at 6-6-1 and will be back in action January 24th as they go on the road to take on the Saranac Lake Lake Placid Lakers January 24th. Plattsburgh State's Josh Belgrave (10) drops to a knee and slams his second goal away on the night as the Cardinals take a 6-2 lead. The #5 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would welcome the Morrisville State Mustangs to the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena for a SUNYAC Men's Hockey game as they would celebrate Burghys 43rd birthday with 1700 of his closest friends. The Mustangs would not be very good house guests as they would take the quick 1-0 lead just 4:15 into the game on the Robert Haak goal. The Cardinals wouldn't waste time in getting the equalizer as they would score at the 7:00 minute mark on the Adam Tretowicz goal and tie the game at one. Then the Cardinal offense would come alive as they would score four goals in just under four minutes to take the 5-0 lead scoring for the Cardinals would be Josh Belgrave, Adam Tretowicz (second of the night), Tio D'Addario, and Luk Jirousek. The Mustangs would answer back just 11 seconds into the second period on Trevor Neumann's goal to make it a 5-2 game. The game would stay there till the 11:49 mark of the second period when the Cardinals would regain their four-goal lead at 6-2 on the Paul Bryer goal. Then with just 18 seconds left in the period the Cardinals would score again on the Josh Belgrave goal his second of the night to make it a 7-2 game. The Cardinals would put the icing on the cake just 14 seconds into the third period when Bennett Stockdale would score and secure the 8-2 victory. In the winning effort, the Cardinals Jacob Hearne and Dominik Bovan would combine for 17 saves as they went to 14-3 on the season. Greece's Jack Pilgrim (18) with the hard hit on Saranac's Noah Miner (9) that sends him into the boards hard. We would have a little out-of-conference action tonight at Amer-can North Sports Center as the Saranac Spartans would host the Greece Storm from section five from over by Rochester. The Storm would jump out to the 1-0 lead just a minute into the game on the Noah Guntrum goal. However, the Spartans would come right back and tie the game up at the 2:42 mark of the period on the Landen Duprey goal. The game would stay there till the last 1:30 of the period when Noah Miner would score to give the Spartans the 2-1 lead. The Spartans would come out in the second period firing and expand the lead to 3-1 on the Ashtyn Catlin goal at the 4:45 mark of the period. The Storm wouldn't go away and they would make a 3-2 game on the powerplay goal from Jack Pilgram with 2:15 left in the period. The storm would come out in a surge in the third period and tie the game at three on the Mitchell Barnes powerplay goal just 2:48 into the period. The Storm weren't done though as they would keep coming and take the 4-3 lead halfway through the period on the Alan Wilkins goal to make it 4-3 and from there defense would hold the line as the Storm would get the 4-3. In the winning effort, the Greece Storm goes to 5-6-1 and will travel to take on the Northeastern Clinton Cougars. As for the Spartans, they will also be 5-6-1 on the season and will have a matchup tomorrow with the Fayetteville-Manlius. Gallery

Plattsburgh's Logan Rodriquez (24) with the block from behind on Northern Adirondack's Calvin Magoon (24) on the scoring attempt. It would be Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Basketball action from Plattsburgh as the Hornets would host the Northern Adirondack Bobcats. The game would be tight through the first quarter as the visiting Bobcats would hold the slight lead at 17-16. However, in the second quarter, the Hornets would step up all around with the offense and defense as they would win the quarter 16-4 and take a 32-21 lead into the intermission. When the teams would return for the third quarter the Bobcats would find their game and the quarter would be a lot more even as the Hornets would win the quarter 21-18 and take the 53-39 lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, it would be another even one as the Hornets would win it 16-13 to secure the 69-52 victory. In the winning effort, Logan Rodriquez would lead the way in a 15-point game as the Hornets go to 7-2 on the season and the Bobcats fall to 8-3. Gallery

Beekmantown's Zacxh Lapier with the rebound goal as the Eagles would tie the game in the third period. It would be the rematch from last year's Section VII Boy's Hockey Championship and it would feature the #10 Beekmantown Eagles and the Saranac Spartans the Spartans would be looking to avenge their earlier lost to the Eagles. The game would start well for the home Eagles as they would jump to the early 1-0 lead on the Edward Sweenor goal just 1:21 into the game. However, the Spartans would come back just over three minutes later and tie the game at one on the Landon Duprey goal. Then with 2:30 left in the first period, the Spartans would take the 2-1 lead on the Ashton Caitlin goal. The game would stay there till the 4:53 mark of the second period when the Eagles would come and tie the game at two on the Sam Bingel goal. However, the Spartans would not let the game stay tied long as they would retake the lead at 3-2 on Ashton Caitllin's second goal of the night just 45 seconds later. Then Landon Duprey would score twice for the Spartans with one on the powerplay to take the 5-2 lead. However, the Eagles would not let the period end that way as they would get with 1:32 left in the period as Pryce Parker would score to make it a 5-3 game as they headed to the second intermission. In the third period though the Eagles would come out flying as they would score three times in the first ten minutes of the period all from Zach Lapier to secure the 6-5 Eagles win and go to 9-2 on the season as they head to Saranac Lake Thursday to take on the Lakers while the Spartans fall to 5-5-1 on the season as they will welcome a couple of teams from the Syracuse area to AC North over the weekend. Geneseo State Knights @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals Janaury 13th 2024

Plattsburgh State's Julia Greek (2) with the finger tip roll for two of her team-high fifteen points on the night. It would be SUNYAC Women's Basketball from Memorial Hall and would see the Plattsburgh State Cardinal host the Geneseo State Knights. The home Cardinals would start the game well and take the 20-11 lead as they would end the first quarter. However, when the second quarter would start the Knights would find their stroke on the shot as they would have a 22-9 quarter and the Knights would take a 33-29 lead into the intermission. When the teams would return for the third quarter they both would make the tight adjustments as they would have an even quarter with 14 a piece but the Knights would take the 47-43 lead into the fourth. In that fourth quarter Knights would have just a better ten minutes with a 20-15 quarter and secure the 67-58 victory. Plattsburgh State's Ikechukwu Ezike (5) would take flight on the runner for the score as part of a fourteen-point night. It would be SUNYAC Men's Basketball from Memorial Hall and it would see the Plattsburgh State Cardinals host the Geneseo State Knights. It would be a tight game throughout the first quarter as the Knights would have a slim 39-34 lead at the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half the Cardinals would do their best to keep the game close but they wouldn't have much of an answer for the Knights as they would win the half 41-32 and the Knights would secure the 80-66 victory. Even though it would be a losing effort for the Cardinals Kevin Tabb and Ikechukwu Ezike would have 14 points as the Cardinals fall to 7-7 on the season. Gallery

Plattsburgh's Braeden Calkins (12) beats the goalie for one of his six goals on the afternoon in the Hornets' 10-0 win. It would be nonconference action at AC North today as the Plattsburgh Hornets would take on the Pearl River Pirates as teams look to build as they head down the stretch of the season. The Hornets would come out buzzing as they would score five goals in the opening period with four of them coming from Braeden Calkins and Chase Laravia would add one. In the second period, the Hornets would stay hot and they would another three goals 2 of them from Braeden Calkins and James Bayers would get one to take the 8-0 lead after the second period. When the teams back for the third period the Hornet's offense was not done yet as they would another two goals this time from Dylan Pachter and Cooper Holland to secure the 10-0 win. In the winning effort, Owen Chapple would make 31 saves on the night as the Hornets would get their first win of the season and are now 1-11 on the season as they head into their game next weekend against Tupper Lake while the Pearl River Pirates go to 5-4-1 on the season. Plattsburgh State's Matie Norton (12) puts it top shelf for one of her two goals in the afternoon. The #4 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would open up the 2024 home portion of their schedule against SUNYAC for the Morrisville State Mustangs in front of 250 loyal fans. The Cardinals wouldn't waste time getting on the scoreboard just 35 seconds in on the Bridget Orr goal. The game would stay there till the 9:07 mark of the period when Kendall Wasik would score and make it a 2-0 game. Then with just over two minutes left in the period the Cardinals would get a third tally this time from Mattie Norton to make it a 3-0 Cardinal game. The Cardinals would keep it going in the second period when Ciara Wal would score four minutes in and make it a 4-0 game. Then about three minutes later Ivy Boric would get on the scoring sheet for the Cardinals to make it a 5-0 Cardinal lead. The game would stay there till the 3:57 mark of the third period when Mattie Norton would get her second of the night and make it a 6-0 game. Then with about seven minutes left in the game, the Mustangs would break up the Nease shutout on the Allie Davidson goal and make it a 6-1 game. With just under five minutes left in the game, Aizah Thompson would score to secure the 7-1 victory. The #4 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would play their old crosstown rivals the Middlebury Panthers at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena in front of 1800 loyal Cardinal fans. The Cardinals get on the board early in the game just 5:45 into the first on the Bennett Stockdale powerplay goal to make it a 1-0 game. The Cardinals would strike again on the powerplay at the 13:37 mark of the period on the Luk Jirousek as the Cardinals go up 2-0 Then just about 90 seconds later the Cardinals would keep the machine going as Josh Belgrave would make it a 3-0 game. Then to finish off the first period of scoring Trey Thomas would score just 53 seconds later to make it a 4-0 Cardinals game. The Cardinals would come out in the second period hot and score just 1:13 in on the Ryan Hogg goal to make it a 5-0 Cardinal game. That would be all the scoring on this night as the Panthers defense would button down the hatches from there on but the Cardinals would get the 5-0 win. Beekmantown's Justin Fechette watches over the play as he gets his 200th win in his career at the helm of the Beekmantown Eagles. The #11 Beekmantown Eagles would return to the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena for the first time in the 2024 portion of the season and they would take on the Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers. The Eagles would get off to a fast start and take the 1-0 lead just 29 seconds into the game on the Zach Lapier goal. The game would stay there till late in the period when Sam Bingel would score to make it a 2-0 game to end the first period. The Eagles would start the second period fast as well when Novak Jarus lit the lamp just 51 seconds into the period and extend the lead to 3-0. Then just about 1:30 later the Eagles would strike again and make it a 4-0 game on Sam Bingel's second goal of the game. Then at the eleventh-minute mark, the Lakers would finally get on the board with the Carson St. Louis goal to make it a 4-1 game. Then with 47 seconds left in the period the Eagles would regain their four-goal lead at 5-1 on Sam Bingel's hat trick goal. When the teams returned for the third period the offense would be on display for the Eagles as they would get 5 unanswered goals from Zach Lapier (twice), Keegin Rodier (twice), and Caden Columbus. The Lakers would add another with just seven minutes left in the game on the Ayden McCormick goal. The home Beekmantown Eagles get the 10-2 win though and go to 8-2 on the season and 3-0 in the conference. The Ticonderoga Sentinels and the Plattsburgh Hornets would start off the 2024 portion of their season at the Plattsburgh High School in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference action. The game would be tight through the first quarter and the Hornets would hold a slight lead at 15-14. In the second quarter, the Hornets would start to pull away as they held Ticonderoga to four points while scoring ten and taking a 25-18 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter the Hornets would keep on the gas and have a 13-9 quarter and take a 38-27 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Sentinels would do their best to get back in the game with an 18-15 quarter but the Hornets would take the 53-45 win. Comfort Inn Winter Classic Consolation: Nazareth Golden Flyers Vs Rivier Raiders January 6th 2024

Nazareth's Matt Sayles makes the pad save from seat on Rivier's Jon Tavella breakaway attempt as part of a 16 save night. It would be the third-place game of the Comfort Inn Winter Classic and it would see the Nazareth Golden Flyers of the UCHC Hockey taking on the Rivier Raiders in front of 700 fans at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena. It would take no take for the Raiders to get the opening goal of the game just 1:20 into the game on the powerplay goal from Tyler Duderstadt to make it 1-0. Nazareth would answer about three minutes later on the shorthanded goal from Blake Frost to tie the game at one. The Golden Flyers would keep the pedal down and would score two minutes later on the Ethan Louisos goal and take the 2-1 lead. Then at the 11:56 mark, the Golden Flyers would extend their lead to two on the Logan Tobias powerplay goal to make it a 3-1 game. The game would stay there till the 6:33 mark of the second period when the Golden Flyers would extend the lead to 4-1 on the Anthony Quinlivan powerplay goal. Then at the 12:30 mark of the second period the Raiders would get two powerplay goals just 47 seconds apart from Tyler Duderstadt and Jon Tavella to make it a 4-3 game at the end of the second period. The game would stay there till the 8:30 mark of the third period when Blake Frost would score the second time in the game and make it a 5-3 game. The Raiders would add a goal with 1:10 left from Damon Kiyawasew to make it 5-4 but the Golden Flyers would hold on for the win. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals are crowned the 2024 Comfort Inn Winter Classic champions after the 5-3 win over the Albertus Magnus Falcons. It would be the finals of the 2024 Comfort Inn Winter Classic and it would see the host #5 Plattsburgh State Cardinals take on the Albertus Magnus Falcons for a shot at the title in front of 1,300 fans at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena. The game would remain scoreless through most of the first period when Colin Callahan would score at the 13:09 mark to make it a 1-0 Cardinals game. The Falcons would answer right back about 84 seconds later on the Sam Anderson powerplay goal and tie the game at one. However, the tie would be short-lived as the Cardinals would regain the one-goal lead 1:07 later on Colin Callahan's second goal of the period. The Cardinals would extend their lead to 3-1 just 1:26 into the second period on the Luk Jirousek goal. The Cardinals would extend their lead to 4-1 on the Afam Tretowicz goal at the 14:16 mark of the second period. The game would stay there till the 6:31 mark of the third period on the Thomas Maia goal and make it a 5-1 game. The Falcons would keep fighting and they would make a 5-2 game at the 11:12 mark of the period on Sam Anderson's second goal of the game. The Raiders would get one more late in the game from JJ Berdal. However, the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would get the 5-3 win to be crowned the 2024 Winter Classic champion behind Eli Shiller's 16-save performance. Albertus Magnus (30) Logan Bateman with the pad save as part of a 28-save night in the win. It would be the opening game of the 2024 edition of the Comfort Inn Winter Classic and it would see the Albertus Magnus Falcons face off against the Nazareth Golden Flyers of the United Collegiate Hockey Conference in front of 700 fans. The Falcons would get the opening goal in the battle of the birds from Tim Manning just 3:57 into the game. The Falcons would keep the pedal down and take the 2-0 lead at the 10:08 mark of the first on the Sam Anderson goal. Then with just about 3:30 left in the period, Blake Frost would get the Flyers on the board and make it a 2-1 game. However, the Falcons would get the two-goal right back to a two-goal game with a 3-1 lead just 90 seconds later on the Caden Patterson goal. The Falcons would come out firing in the second period and score just 12 seconds into the game on the Tyler Ignazzitto to make it 4-1. The game would stay there till the midway point of the third when the Flyers Johnny Jackson goal to make it 4-2 down the stretch. In the winning effort for the Falcons Logan Bateman would make 28 saves as they get the 4-2 win. With the win, the Albertus Magnus will play the winner of the Plattsburgh State Cardinals and the Rivier Raiders while the Nazareth Golden Flyers get the loser in the consolation game. Gallerya

Plattsburgh State's Brannon Butler with the goal about halfway through the third for the 3-1 lead. It would be the second game of the Comfort Inn Complex Winter Classic and it would see the Rivier Raiders taking on the host #5 Plattsburgh State Cardinals in front of 1300 fans in Cardinal County. The Cardinals would waste no time as they would get the quick 1-0 lead just 18 seconds into the game on the Colin Callanan goal. The game would stay there till the 9:47 mark of the period when the Raiders would tie the game on the powerplay on their first shot of the game from Cormac Hayes. The Cardinals would have an answer though and retake the lead at 2-1 about 3:30 later Simon Singher's first NCAA goal made it 2-1 Cardinals. The game would stay there through the second period as there was no scoring. The Cardinals would fight and get the two-goal lead on the goal by Brannon Butler goal to take the 3-1 lead at the 8:04 mark. In the closing stages of the period the Cardinals would at the empty netter on the Ryan Butler goal to secure the 4-1 win. In the winning effort, Eli Shiller would make 18 saves as the Cardinals go to 11-2 on the season and will play the Albertus Magnus for the Cardinal Classic title tomorrow. Frozen Hope Slapshots and Puckdrops: Plattsburgh Hornets Vs Saranac Spartans

The Saranac Spartans and Plattsburgh Hornets would come together after the game for a group photo in honor of the McLane family. It would be a game tonight between the Saranac Spartans and Plattsburgh Hornets in Boy's Hockey but tonight it would be more than just a hockey game as it would be Frozen Hopes to help with brain cancer research along with in memory of Aimee McLane the mom of goalie Sean McLane that would pass just a couple days before the game. As for the game on ice, it would take till the late stages of the first period before the opening goal when Declan Baker would score for the Spartans and make it 1-0. Then with under a minute left in the period the Spartans would expand the lead to 2-0 on the Landon Duprey goal. Then just 3:08 into the second period the Spartans would start to take control of the game at 3-0 on the Landon Giroux goal. Then just about 90 seconds later the Spartans would make it 4-0 and take control of the game on the Gabriel Moore goal. Then at the 6:46 mark of the period the Hornets would get on the board and make it a 4-1 game. The game would stay there till the 2:23 mark of the third period when the Hornets would score again and make it a 4-2 game. The Spartans would answer back with two straight goals from Nolan Miner and regain their four-goal lead at 6-2. However, the Hornets would do their best to keep it a game as they would get two goals from Darren Patchen and Barden Calkins to make it a 6-4 game with 7 minutes left in the game. From there the Spartans would hold on and get the 6-4 win and go to 3-3-1 on the season but more importantly on this night getting the win for the McLane family. The Spartans will be right back on the ice as they travel to Rouses Point and take on the Northeastern Clinton Cougars in another CVAC game. Gallery.
