The Beekmantown Eagles have been crowned the 2024 Section VII Boy's Hockey Champions for the third straight year and will enter the NYSPHSAA Division 2 Boy's Hockey Tournament. It would be the Section VII Division II Boy's Hockey Championship and it would feature the upset-minded #3 Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers taking on the #1 and top ten state-ranked Beekmantown Eagles from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena in front of nearly a 1000 fans. The Eagles would get on the board early with the Zach Lapier goal at the 3:04 mark of the first period. Lapier and the Beekmantown Eagles would strike again with 2 more goals 41 seconds apart at the 5:38 and 6:19 mark of the first period to give the Beekmantown Eagles the 3-0 lead on the Zach Lapier. With just over 4 minutes left in the opening period, the Eagles would strike again and take the 4-0 lead this time coming from Edward Sweenor. The game would stay that wall to the third period as there was no scoring in the second period and the teams would just go back and forth with each having their chance but were just unable to light the lamp. However, the Eagles would make up for the no scoring in the second period as they would score twice in the first 32 seconds of the third period as Edward Sweenor would score twice to complete his hat trick and give the Eagles the 6-0 lead. Not being outdone by his teammate Zach Lapier would strike again for his fourth on the night just 39 seconds later and the Eagles now led 7-0. Then with just over ten minutes left in the game, Edward Sweenor would strike to even back up with Zach Lapier who have four goals each to make it an 8-0 lead for the Eagles. Then 6:38 left in the game the other Lapier kid on the team Carter LaPier would score and take the 9-0 lead and win as the Beekmantown Eagles were crowned the 2024 Section VII Champions and will play the Queensbury Spartans in the Quarterfinals of the NYSPHSAA Division 2 Tournament on March 2nd in Queensbury, New York with the winner headed to Buffalo, New York, and the State Frozen Four. The Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers celebrate as they get the 7-4 upset Saranac Spartans and go to the Section VII Hockey Championship. It would be the second semi-final of the night in the Section VII Boy's Hockey Tournament as the #3 Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers would travel to Plattsburgh and the Amer-Can North Sports Center and take on the #2 seeded Saranac Spartans with the winner getting the #1 Beekmantown Eagles for a sectional title. The favorite Saranac Spartans would get the opening goal of the game at the 9:24 mark of the first period on the Landon Duprey goal to make it 1-0. The Spartans wouldn't waste time making it 2-0 15 seconds later on the Ryan Campbell goal. Then with just 22 seconds left in the period, the Spartans would jump out to a 3-0 lead on the Evan Patrie goal. The Lakers would come out firing and make it a 3-1 game 41 seconds into the second period on the Evan Willette goal. The Lakers would stay hot and make it a one-goal game at the 5:20 mark of the period on the powerplay goal of Adrian McCormick. Then within a 2:27 stretch in the second period, the Lakers would explode for three goals to take a 5-3 lead with goals from Evan Willette, Will Landerault, and Adrian McCormick. The Spartans would answer back with 36 seconds left in the second period on the Ashtyn Caitlin goal to make it a one-goal game at 5-4 at the end of the second period. The game would stay there till the 10:45 mark of the third period when the Lakers's Kyle Duffy would score to make it a 6-4 Lakers lead from there the defense would clinch down and they would add an empty netter from Evan Willette for the hat trick and the 7-4 victory. In the winning effort, Scottie Nicholas would make 51 saves as they would advance to the Section VII Boy's Hockey Championship against the Beekmantown Eagles. Gallery

It would be the semi-finals from the Section VII Boy's Hockey and it would see the #1 Beekmantown Eagles hosting the #5 Plattsburgh Hornets at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena for the right to play for the sectional title on Monday evening. The favor Beekmantown Eagles would get off to a good start as they would score twice in the first period from Sam Bingel and they would have a 2-0 lead at the end of the first. In the second period, the Eagles would get another couple of goals this time from Ryan Demers and Sam Bingel and Bingel would get the hat trick as the Eagles extended their lead to 4-0. In the third period, the Eagles would put the exclamation point on the game as they would add another three goals from Zach Lapier, Braden Nephew, and Pryce Parker as the Eagles got the 7-0 win and advanced to Section VII Boy's Hockey Finals against the winner of the Saranac Spartans and Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers. In a losing effort, the Plattsburgh Hornets goalie Owen Chapple would do everything he could to keep his team in the game with 63 saves on the evening. Gallery.

Beekmantown's Zach Lapier (19) slides it by the out-stretched toe of Northeastern Clinton's Caden Badger (33) as part of a four-goal game. It would be the last regular season game for the #8 Beekmantown Eagles as they would host the Northeastern Clinton Cougars at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena on senior night. It would just take 2:27 into the game before we had our first goal from Novak Jarus for the Eagles to give them the early 1-0 lead. The Cougars would come right back and tie the game up at one on the Eddie Bulriss goal just two minutes later. About halfway through the period, the Eagles would retake the lead on the shorthanded goal by Zach Lapier to make it a 2-1 game. The Cougars would answer the bell right back just 20 seconds later on the Wayne Simpson goal to tie the game at two. The Eagles come out swinging in the second period and take the 3-2 lead just seven into the period on the Louis Sweenor goal. The Eagles would stay on fire as they would score again just 1:20 later as Novak Jarus would get his second goal of the game to make it a 4-2 game. The Cougars would come back again and make it a one-goal again on the Wayne Simpson second of the evening to make it a 4-3 game. The game would stay there till the 6:27 mark of the third period when Owen Ebersol would tie the game for the Cougars at four. The Eagles from there would take control of the game as they would get three unanswered goals from Louis Sweenor (two) and Zach Lapier as the Eagles secured the 7-4 win. In the winning effort, the Eagles would finish off the sectional season with a perfect 8-0 record and the regular season at 17-3 while the Northeastern Clinton Cougars fall to 4-14-1 on the season. Saranac's Adrian Barnes (8) with the tap-in goal in the first two minutes of the game to get the Spartans rolling. It would be the second meeting of the year between the Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers and the SaranacSpartans this time from the Amer-Can North Sports Center in Section VII Boy's Hockey. The Spartans would get the game started fast as Adrian Barnes would get the opening goal of the game just 1:51 into the game and the Spartans would be off and running as they would add three more goals in the period from Ashtyn Catlin, Evan Patrie, and Landen Duprey and take the 4-0 lead after the first period. In the second period the good times would start rolling for the Spartans would add a five spot in the period on goals from Landen Duprey three in the period and four in the game and Noah Miner and Jonathan Coryer would get the other two. While Ayden McCormick would get the Lakers on the board in the period the Spartans would be in control with the 9-1 lead after the second period. In the third period, the Spartans would empty the bench and get the other players in the game. The Spartans would still get 4 goals in period two coming from Tom Sorensen (his first two of his high school career) with the other two coming from Ryan Campbell and Landen Duprey his fifth of the game as the Spartans would get the 13-1. In the winning effort, Shawn McLane would make 15 saves on the night as the Spartans would go to 11-7-1 on the season. The Lakers goalies would combine for nearly 50 saves on the night as they fell to 5-12-1. The Lakers will be back in action Wednesday with their home finale against the Plattsburgh Hornets. Plattsburgh's Cooper Metcalf (19) meets up with the Christan Brothers Academy stake behind the net as they are going for the loose puck. It would be a matchup between neighboring sections as the Christain Brothers Academy Brothers from section II would come to Plattsburgh and the Ameri-can North Sports Center and take on the Plattsburgh Hornets. The opening goal of the game would come with about four minutes left in the first period when Patrick Feranec would light the lamp for the 1-0 Brothers lead. The lead would be short-lived though as the Hornets would come back about two minutes later and get the equalizer to tie the game at one on the Braeden Calkins goal. The game would stay there through most of the second period until Brothers Dom Waters would make it a 2-1 game with five minutes left in the period. The Hornets would come back again and tie the game at two on the powerplay goal from Cooper Holland 1:18 later in the period. In the third period though the Brothers would be too much for the Hornets on this day as they would get three goals from Dom Waters, Mason Famulare, and Ethan Premo while the Hornets would get one from Braeden Calkins as the Brothers would get the 5-3 win. In the winning effort, Christan Brothers Academy would go to 6-13-1 on the season and the Plattsburgh Hornets would fall to 1-16-1 on the season as they head to their Wednesday contest with the Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers. With a couple of weeks left in the regular season, we would have the Northeastern Clinton Cougars traveling to Plattsburgh and the Amer-Can North Sports Center to tangle with the #18 Saranac Spartans in Section VII Hockey. The game would start fast and fierce with both teams getting a goal in the first five minutes of the game. Then with 5:42 left in the opening period, the upset-minded Cougars would strike on the Wade Simpson goal to give the Cougars the 2-1 lead. The game would stay there till about the 7:35 mark of the second when Landon Duprey would knock in the rebound and tie the game at two. Then about 75 seconds later the Spartans would take the lead as Jackson Coryer would find the back of the net and the Spartans would take the 3-2 lead. Then just 40 seconds later the Spartans would expand their lead to two goals as it would become a 4-2 game on the Noah Miner powerplay goal. The quick attack would continue for the Spartans as they would score again about a minute later on the Ashytn Catlin goal as they took the 5-2 lead. Then to finish off the scoring in the second period Landon Duprey would finish off the hat trick with just about 2:30 left to give the Spartans the 6-2 lead. In the third period, the Spartans would give a lot of the kids that don't see a lot of playing time sometime in the period and there would be no scoring throughout and the Spartans hold on for the 6-2 win. In the winning effort, the Spartans go to 10-7-1 and be back on the ice Friday as they take on Watertown the season while the Cougars fall to 4-12-1.Gallery

The Saranac Spartans would stay in the region for a game the next evening this time against Division I Saratoga Springs Blue Streaks at the Saratoga Springs Ice Rink. The Spartans would get the opening goal of the game from Landon Duprey at the 6:27 mark of the opening period to give them the 1-0 lead. The Blue Streaks would keep coming and they would tie the game up at one on the Andrew Nelsen goal to make it a 1-1 game. However, the Spartans would answer back with 24 seconds left in the period and regain the one-goal lead at 2-1 on the Nolan Miner goal. In the second the Spartans would get the lone goal of the period from Gabe Moore on the rebound at the 1216 mark of the period to make it a 3-1 game. The game would stay there till the 6:26 mark of the third period when the Spartans would strike again and make it a three-goal lead at 4-1 on the Brody McComber goal. However, the Blue Streaks would not go away as they would get two goals within a minute with about five minutes left from Jayson Carpenter and Jack Murauskas to make it a 4-3 game. From there the Spartans defense would be up to the task and would stand tall against the Blue Streaks list minute attempts to tie the game to hold on for the 4-3 win. In the losing effort for the Blue Streaks Matt Barber would make 25 saves as the Blue Streaks fall to 10-7-1 and will be back in action against state-ranked Shenendehowa on Wednesday. While the Saranac Spartans would get the win and go to 9-7-1 on the season and Mason Patnode would make 35 saves on the night and will hit the ice again Tuesday back in sectional play against the Northeastern Clinton Cougars at AC North Sports Center.
