The game would start well for the home Cadets as they would get off to the 4-2 lead after the first quarter on goals from Cynthia Barnosky (twice), Caitlin Nash, and Maddy Garcia. In the second quarter, the Cardinals would stay on top with the low-scoring affair with the 3-2 quarter on goals from Cynthia Barnosky (third and fourth), and Caitlin Nash with her second of the game as the Cardinals would have the 7-4 lead at the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter the game would stay tight. Still, the Cadets would cut into the lead with a 4-3 quarter scoring for the Cardinals would be Erica Dickinson, Cynthia Barnosjy (fifth), and Caitlin (third) as it would be 10-8 Cardinals as they entered the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Cadets would come out charging and take control of the game with a 6-2 quarter scoring for the Cardinals Lillian Gilroy and Janey Adans as the Cadets would get the come-from-behind victory at 14-12. In the losing effort for the Cardinals Jess Loch would still make 12 saves as they go to 1--3 on the season and will be back on the field Saturday as they take on Utica. As for the Norwich Cadets Bailey Manning Ingala would make 12 saves for the win and go to 2-1 on the season. Gallery

It would be a matchup between the SUNYAC and the Great Northeast Conference from the Plattsburgh State Fieldhouse Complex as the Plattsburgh Cardinals would host the Norwich Cadets. It would be the season opener for the home Plattsburgh State Cardinals as they would long-time school rival in all sports the Norwich Cadets on a brisk day at the Cardinal Complex on campus. The game would start tight through the first quarter as the Cadets would have the 4-2 lead after the first quarter scoring for the Cardinals would be Donald Woods and Tim Keenan. In the second quarter the Cadets would start to take control of the game with the 6-2 quarter and have a 10-4 lead at the break and scoring for the Cardinals again would be Donald Woods and Tim Keenan. When the teams would return for the third quarter it would be a very even game as it would be a 3-3 quarter making a 13-7 quarter scoring for the Cardinals would be Donald Woods (third of the game), Josh Eiseman, and Tim Keenan (third of the game). In the fourth quarter the Cadets would take control of the game and put the icing on the cake with a 5-2 quarter scoring for the Cardinals would be Anthony Faber and John Eiseman (second of the night) as the Cadets would get the 18-9 win. With the win, the Norwich Cadets start their season 1-0 while the Plattsburgh State Cardinals will go to 0-1 as they head to their next game against Mount St. Mary's. Gallery

It would be a matchup inside the top of NCAA Division III Men's Hockey at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena as the #4 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host long-time nonconference rival the #12 Norwich Cadets in front of 1300 passionate fans for the midweek tilt. The home Cardinals would waste little time in getting the opening goal of the game just 5:28 into the game on the Josh Belgrave goal. They would stay there till the 3:51 mark of the second period when the Cadets would get the equalizer from Owen Sclisizzi and tie the game at one. Then just about two minutes later the Cadets would forge ahead on the powerplay goal from Clark Kerner for the 2-1 lead. The Cardinals were not going to let the Cadets lead last long as they would score three minutes later and tie the game at two on the Trey Thomas goal. The game would stay there till the 11:33 mark of the third period when the teams would combine for four goals in just over six minutes of action scoring would be Aaron Catroon and Jake Lanyi for the Cardinals Johnny Johnson and Ben Van Waterschoot for the Cadets. From there they would have no more scoring in the final two minutes of regulation and the five minutes of three-on-three for overtime. As the Cardinals would get the tie on the night and go to 15-3-2 on the season as Elli Shiller would make 25 saves on the night. The Cardinals will return to action on Saturday, February 3rd as they are back in the SUNYAC against fellow north country member the Potsdam State Bears. Gallery
