Clinton Community College Holiday Classic Boy's Basketball: Boquet Valley Griffins Vs Saranac Spartans December 28th 2023

Boquet Valley's Jackson Hooper (3) with the block from behind on Saranac's Zach Lucia (12) to keep the game tight. It would be the third game of the second day of the Clinton Community College Holiday Tournament and it would see the Boquet Valley Griffins and Saranac Spartans who both got wins yesterday so this game would decide who was the best on the boy's side. It would pit a couple of teams that were evenly matched and the top of the field and would be tied at fourteen after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the teams would still play tight but the Spartans would start to pull away with a 13-9 quarter and take a 27-23 lead into the intermission. In the third quarter, the Spartans would build on their slim lead with an offensive outpour as they would win the quarter 20-11 and take a 47-34 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Griffins would do their best to get back in the game with their best quarter of the day scoring 17 point surge but the Spartans would be able to match them at seventeen and the Spartans would get the 64-51 Spartans win and end Boquet Valley's perfect season. In the winning effort, the Spartans would go to 2-3 while the Griffins fell to 7-1 while Griffins Jackson Hooper would lead all scorers with a game-high 23 points. Gallery

Clinton Community College Holiday Classic Girl's Basketball Boquet Valley Griffins Vs Saranac Spartans December 28th 2023

Saranac's Lilly Brown (12) and Boquet Valley's Charlee Orciani (14) go after the opening tip. It would be the second game of the second day of action from the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and it would see the Boquet Valley Griffins take on the Saranac Spartans. The Spartans would take the first quarter and get off to a dominant start with a 12-2 quarter. In the second quarter. In the second quarter, the Griffins would fight to keep it close and would actually win the quarter 12-10 but still would trail in the game 22-14. When the teams returned for the third quarter the Spartans would take back control of the game with a 18-9 quarter and expand their lead to 40-23. In the fourth quarter, the Spartans would put the final touches on the game with a 19-4 quarter and cruise to the 59-27 victory. In the winning effort, the Spartans would go to 5-1 on the season as Layla Pellerin would lead the way with 17 points while the Boquet Valley Griffins would fall to 4-5 on the season. Gallery

Clinton Community College Holiday Classic Girl's Basketball Malone Huskies Vs Peru Nighthawks December 28th 2023

Malone's Sadie Varin (2) would get flight and block the shot of Peru's Destiny Snider (1) on her shot attempt in close. It woi;d be the last game of the 2023 edition of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and it would feature the Malone Huskies and the Peru Nighthawks it would be one of the toughest games over the two days. The game might start slow but it wasn't for the lack of excitement as the Nigthawks and Huskies would be tied at six after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Huskies would take the slim 2-point into the break with a 7-5 quarter and a 13-11 lead at the break. In the third quarter, the game would still be tight but the Nighthawks would tie the game up at 24 as they head to the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Nighthawks would pull ahead with an 8-7 quarter and hold on to get the 32-31 win With the win the Nighthawks would go to 4-3 on the season and Huskies would fall to 2-2 on the season and Reese Duprey for the Nighthawks would lead all scorers with 18 points. Clinton Community College Holiday Classic: Peru Nighthawks Vs Seton Catholic Knights December 28th 2023

Peru's Lucas Allen (34) and Seton Catholic's Aiden Pearl battle for the loose ball on the scramble at the top of the key. It would be the second day of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and the opening game would see the Peru Nighthawks taking on the Seton Catholic Knights. The Nighthawks would start the game well and would be doubling up the Knights by the end of the first quarter with a 12-6 lead. In the second quarter, the Knights would keep up the fight and keep it close as the Nighthawks would win the quarter but only 12-8 and take a 24-14 lead into the break. When the teams returned for the third quarter the offense for the Nighthawks would step up and they would start to pull away with a 17-6 quarter take a 41-20 lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Knights would do their best not to let the deficit get any worse as the Nighthawks would have a 14-12 quarter and secure the 55-32 win. In the winning effort, Kobe Harris would lead the way with 14 points as the Nighthawks would get their first win of the season and go to 1-4 on the season while the Knights fell to 1-5. Gallery

Clinton Community College Holiday Classic: Seton Catholic Knights Vs Saranac Spartans December 27th 2023

Seton Catholic's Aiden Pearl (22) with block of Saranac's Zach Lucia (12) and sends it back where it started. It would be the opening day of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and the third game of the day would feature the Seton Catholic Knights and the Saranac Spartans. It would be tight through the first quarter as the Spartans would have a slim 13-12 lead after the first eight minutes of the game. In the second quarter, the Spartans would find their stride and break the game wide open with a 26-6 quarter and take a 39-18 lead into the intermission break. When the teams returned for that third quarter the teams would be evenly matched as the Spartans would only win the quarter 16-10 and take the 55-28 lead into the fourth quarter. In that quarter the teams would stay evenly matched as the Spartans would win the quarter 10-6. Although with that second quarter that got very lopsided, the Spartans would get the big 65-34 victory. With the win Henry Napper would lead the way as the Spartans get their first win of the season and go to 1-3 on the season while the Seton Catholic Knights fall to 1-5 on the season. Both teams are back in action tomorrow as the Spartans will meet up with the Boquet Valley Griffins and the Seton Catholic Knights will get the Peru Nighthawks. Gallery

Peru's Hunter Eagle (2) with a jumper along the sidelines for the score over Boquet Valley's Ted Gay (11). It would be the opening game of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and we would feature the Peru Nighthawks and the Boquet Valley Griffins in Boy's Basketball action. The game would start tight as the Griffins would have a slim 16-12 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter though the Griffins would start to pull away with a 13-8 quarter and take a 29-20 lead at the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter the Nighthawks would do their best to stay with the Griffins as the Griffins would win the quarter by a slim 13-10 and take a 42-30 lead into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Griffins would double up the Nighthawks with a 14-7 quarter and secure the 56-37 victory. In the winning effort, Jackson Hooper would lead the way for the Griffins with 17 points as they go to 7-0 and stay undefeated on the season as they will take on the Saranac Spartans on Day 2 of the tournament. It would be the classic crosstown rivalry tonight in section VII girl's basketball as the Plattsburgh Hornets would be hosting the Beekmantown Eagles in an early season match-up. The game would be tight and low-scoring through the first quarter as it would be tied at seven. In the second quarter, the teams would start to find their shot and the scoring would show it as the Eagles would have an 18-10 quarter and take a 25-17 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half the Eagles would stay hot and take the third quarter 14-9 to take a 39-26 lead into the final quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles would go into defensive mode and protect their lead as the Hornets win the quarter 10-9. However, the Eagles would hold on and get the win in the crosstown match 48-36. In the winning effort, the Eagles would even up their record at 2-2 on the season as they head into their next contest on the 19th against Northeastern Clinton. As for the Hornets, they will fall to 1-2 on season and they will be right back at it on Saturday in a nonleague match against the Chateaugay Bulldogs. Gallery

Mountain Valley Athletic Conference Girl's Basketball Schroon Lake Wildcats @ Seton Catholic Knights December 13th 2023

Schroon Lake's (4) rises up on the layup early in the game to get the Wildcats on the board. It would be a match-up inside the Mountain Valley Conference of Section VII as the Seton Catholic Knights would host the Schroon Lake Wildcats in Girl's Basketball. It would be a tight and low scoring through the first quarter as the Knights would hold the slim 6-5 lead after the first 8 minutes of the game. In the second quarter, we would have a complete repeat of the first quarter as the Knights would once again lead the quarter 6-5 and then take the slim 12-10 lead into the intermission break. When the teams returned for the third quarter after the break the Knights would bring their offense with them and win the quarter 14-6 as they got hot and would have a 26-16 lead heading into the final quarter. In that final quarter the Wildcats would do everything they could try to get back in the game and their defense would shut out the Knights in the quarter but the Wildcats could only get eight points and the Knights would hold on for the 26-24. In the winning effort, the Knights would get back to 500 on the season at 2-2 as they head into their game next week with Chazy. The Schroon Lake Wildcats fall to 1-2 on the season as they will play Boquet Valley in their next game on Friday night. Gallery

NCAA Division III Men's Basketball: Cobleskill Tigers @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals November 18th 2023

Plattsburgh State's Willard Anderson (4) crashes into the defender and lays the ball off the window for the score. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would get their home portion of their season open tonight as they would take on the Cobleskill State Tigers in nonleague action. The game would not start off well for the home Cardinals as the Tigers would jump out to a 37-23 lead by the end of the half. Then in the second half, they would. With eight minutes left in the game, the Tigers would have a 13-point lead and look like they would have the game in hand but the Cardinals would come charging back on a 28-12 run and get the 73-69 victory. With the win the Cardinals would get their first win of the season and go to 1-3 and Kevin Tabb would lead the way seventeen points. The Cardinals will return to the hardwood on November 26th as they travel to take on the Lyndon State Hornets. Gallery

NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Cardinal Classic Day 2: Bates College Bobcats Vs Potsdam State Bears

It would be day 2 of the Cardinal Classic Women's Basketball Tournament and it would be a matchup for the title between Bates College from the NESCAC and the Potsdam State Bears of the SUNYAC after they both won yesterday. The Bobcats would be off and running in the first quarter and their defense would keep the Bears in check as the Bobcats would have the 14-3 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the teams would be more evenly matched as the Bobcats would only win the quarter 14-12 but the Bears would be behind 28-15 at the half. When the teams returned for the second half the teams would stay evenly matched but the Bears would be unable to do anything with the deficit as the Bobcats would win the quarter 15-14 and have a 43-31 lead as they enter the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Bobcats would finish off the Bears with a 15-6 quarter and the Bobcats would get 58-35 the win. NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Cardinal Classic Day 2: Castleton State Spartans Vs Plattsburgh State Cardinals November 18th 2023

Plattsburgh State's Imani Walcott (23) banks it off the backboard for the score as part of a sixteen-point night, It would be the last game of the Cardinal Classic and between the host Plattsburgh State Cardinals and the Castleton State Spartans in what would be the third-place game as they were both coming off losses. The game would start well for the home Cardinals as they would start with a 17-10 lead after the 1st quarter. However, in the second quarter, the Spartans would come charging back with a 20-12 quarter and the Spartans would have a slim 30-29 lead at the intermission. When the teas returned from the intermission break the Spartanns would use the quarter to take control of the game with a 20-9 quarter and 50-38 lead overall. In that fourth quarter, the Cardinals would do everything they could to get back in the game but all they could do was cut the deficit in half with a 21-15 quarter giving the Spartans the 65-59 victory. In the losing effort, Payton Couture would lead the Cardinals with a game-high 20 points as they go to 2-2 on the season. The Cardinals will be back in action on Monday, November 28th as they will travel to Utica and take on the Pioners. Gallery

It would be the opening game of the first day of the Cardinal Classic and it would feature the Castleton State Spartans from the Little East Conference and the Potsdam State Bears from the SUNYAC. The offenses would be on display through the first quarter as the Potsdam State Bears would have a slim 21-18 lead after the first quarter. The game would stay close through the second quarter as the Spartans would win the quarter by a slim 15-13 and take the 36-31 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter it would stay close but the Spartans would get the quarter but close by a 19-16 score and the Bears would have the two-point lead at 52-50 as they entered the 4th quarter. In the fourth quarter, the game would stay close but the Bears would extend the lead to six for the 79-73 win. NYSPHSAA Class C Boy's Basketball First Round: #8 Chatham Panthers Vs #1 Moriah Vikings March 5th 2023

It would be the opening round of the NYSPHSAA Class C Tournament and would feature the #1 team in the state Moriah Vikings taking on number #8 Chatham Panthers from Clinton Community College. The game would start off well for the top team in the state as the Moriah Vikings would have a 15-9 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the team's high pace would continue as the Panthers would cut into the lead slightly with a 10-9 quarter but the Vikings would still have the 27-19 lead as they enter the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half the tempo and pace would pick up right where it left off as the Panthers would have a 12-10 quarter to cut into the deficit a bit more as the Vikings would have the 37-31 lead as they enter the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter the Panthers would come all the way back and tie the game up at 46 and then with 1.5 seconds on the clock Drew Wemple would hit the jumper for the win. As the Chatham Panthers would pull off the upset of the #1 team in the state with the 50-46 victory and will advance to the quarterfinals and take on the #23 Canton Golden Bears. Gallery

NYSPHSAA Class C Girl's Basketball First Round: #7 Northeastern Clinton Cougars Vs #3 Greenwich Witches March 8th 2023

It would be the first round of the NYSPHSAA Class C Tournament and it would be a matchup inside the top ten teams as the #7 Northeastern Clinton Cougars would take on the #3 Greenwich Witches for the right to head to the quarterfinals from Clinton Community College. The game would start off great for the #3 Greenwich Witches as they would race out to a 17-4 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Cougars would dust off the early game nerves and fight back into the game with a 15-4 quarter to trail by just 2 at the break 21-19. When the teams returned for the second half the Witches would find would get back on track and would expand their lead to ten points with a 19-11 quarter for the 40-30 lead as they enter the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Witches would be able to keep a spell on the Cougars with a 9-4 quarter for the 49-34 victory. With the win, the #3 Greenwich Witches would advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament and have a match-up with the #13 Canton Golden Bears with a ticket to the final four on the line. Gallery

Section VII Class C Boy's Basketball Championship: #2 Northern Adirondack Bobcats Vs #1 Moriah Vikings March 5th 2023

It would be the second game of championship Sunday for Section VII Basketball and this would be in Class C Boy's action as the #1 Moriah Vikings would take on the #2 Northern Adirondack Bobcats. The game would get off to a fast start, which would be good for the Moriah Vikings as they would double up the Bobcats in the first quarter and have a 22-11 lead. In the second quarter, the Vikings would continue to impress as they would pull away with a 14-5 quarter and have a 36-16 lead as they entered the halftime break. When the teams would return for the second half the Vikings would not show any let up as they would 11-10 quarter and take a commanding 47-26 lead into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Vikings would let up and just coast the quarter as the Bobcats would win the quarter at 12-8 although the Vikings would hold on for the 55-38 victory. With the win, the Vikings will advance to the NYSPHSAA Class C Tournament and will play Chatham from Section 2 at Clinton Community College on March 8th with the winner getting Canton for the right to go to Final Four. Section VII Class D Boy's Basketball Championship: #2 Crown Point Panthers Vs #1 Schroon Lake Wildcats March 5th 2023

Schroon Lake's Isaiah Pelkey (13) with the finger roll on the lay up for the Wildcats bucket. It would be the last game of the championship Sunday from Clinton Community College as this would be for the Class D Section VII title and we would have the #1 Schroon Lake Wildcats and the #2 Crown Point Panthers. It would be tight through the first quarter but the #2 Crown Point would have the upset in mind as they would have the 16-13 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the game would stay tight as neither team would be able to get on a sustained run but the Wildcats would win the quarter 16-13 and the teams would go into the break tied at 29. When the teams would return for the third quarter the game would stay tight but the Wildcats would get a bit of separation with a 13-9 quarter and take a 42-38 lead into the fourth. In that fourth quarter, the Wildcats would just have too much leave down the stretch for the Panthers as they would win the quarter 17-12 and get the 59-50 victory. With the win, the Schroon Lake Wildcats will advance to the NYSPHSAA Class D Tournament and will face North Warren from Section II for the right to go to the final four at the Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls. It would be the opening game of championship Sunday for Section VII Basketball and it would feature the top two seeds from Class C on the Girl's side as the #2 Northeastern Clinton Cougars and the #1 Northern Adirondack Bobcats. The Cougars would get off to a quick start in the game and take a 14-3 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Bobcats would get their shot going although it wouldn't be good enough as the Cougars would have a 13-10 quarter and take a 27-13 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter the Cougars would stay hot and have a 14-9 quarter and take a 41-22 lead into the fourth. In that quarter the Cougars would fall back and use the clock to their advantage and have a 9-8 quarter for the 49-29 victory. With the win, the #7 Northeastern Clinton Cougars advance to the NYSPHSAA Tournament and will take on #3 Greenwich on March 8th in the opening round of the tournament. Gallery

Section VII Class D Girl's Basketball Championship: #2 Boquet Valley Griffins Vs #1 Seton Catholic Knights March 5th 2023

It would be game three of championship Sunday and we would be back on the girl's side of the ball as the #1 Seton Catholic Knights would meet up with the #2 Boquet Valley Griffins to decide the winner of Section VII Class D action. The game would start odd good for the Knights as they would get off to the early lead as would double up the Griffins with a 16-8 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the tables would flip and the Griffins would fight their way back in the game with good defense as they would win the quarter 8-4 but the Knights would have the 20-16 lead at the break. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Griffins would continue their comeback with an 11-8 quarter making it a one-point lead for the Knights at 28-27 as they enter the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter the two teams would fight back and forth as they would battle for the crown and with under 5 seconds left in the game Abby Schwobel would score to tie the game at 34 and force overtime. In the overtime, the Knights would be just a bit more than the Griffins as they would win the frame 9-3 to secure the 43-37 victory. With the win, the Seton Catholic Knights advance to the NYSPHSAA Class D Tournament and will take on Notre Dame-Bishop from Section II for the right to head to the NYSPHSAA Final Four. Gallery

Section VII Class B Boy's Basketball Finals: #2 Saranac Lake Red Storm Vs #1 Beekmantown Eagles March 3rd 2023

It would be time for the Section VII Class B Boy's Basketball finals from Clinton Community College and it would feature the top two seeds as it would be the Saranac Lake Red Storm and the Beekmantown Eagles. It would be a high-scoring but tight game through the first quarter as the Eagles would have a 16-14 lead. The game would stay tight through the second quarter although the defenses would be on display for the quarter as the Saranac Lake Red Storm would win the quarter 8-6 and tie the game at 22 as the teams would enter halftime. It would be the first game of championship weekend for section vii basketball from Clinton Community College. It would feature the #3 Ausable Valley Patriots and the #1 Saranac Chiefs for the Class B Girls finals. The game would get off to a slow start for both teams as it would be just an 8-4 Chiefs lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the defenses would still be the name of the game as the Chiefs would win the quarter 9-2 and take the 17-6 lead at halftime. When the teams returned for the third quarter the offense would come out of the locker room with them although the Chiefs would still be on top with a 15-15 quarter and take a 32-21 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, it would be more of the same as the Chief's offense would be the name of the game with an 18-9 quarter. As the Saranac Chiefs would be crowned the 2023 Section VII Class B Girls Basketball champions with a 50-30 win and with the win they will advance to the New York State Public Athletic Association Tournament and will take on the Section X representative next weekend. It would be the semifinals of the Section VII Class B Girl's Basketball Tournament and it would feature the #3 Ausable Valley Patriots traveling to take on the #2 Plattsburgh Hornets for the right to head to next weekend's Section VII title game. The game would start off well for the upset-minded Patriots as they would have the 22-13 lead as they end the first half of the game. When the teams returned for the third quarter the Patriots would keep their hot hand going with a 13-7 quarter and take a 35-20 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Patriots would finish off the upset victory with an 11-8 quarter and get the 46-28 victory. With the win, the Ausable Valley Patriots advance to the Section VII Class B Finals and will take on the winner of the Saranac Chiefs and the Beekmantown Eagles at the Clinton Community College on March 3rd. It would be the last game of the regular season inside section VII and would be a reschedule from an earlier game in the season due to replacement weather. The game would start off a with high flying pace that would play right into the hands of the Bobcats as they would race out to a 21-14 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the high-flying pace would continue as the Bobcats would jump on a 23-15 quarter and take a 44-29 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter the hot hand for the Bobcats would continue and they would have an 18-12 quarter and take a 62-41 lead into the final quarter. In the fourth quarter, there would be no give in the Bobcats as they would have a 13-11 quarter and secure the 75-52 victory. In the winning effort, the Northern Adirondack Bobcats would finish the regular season at 11-9 and will get the #3 seed in the upcoming Section VII Class C Tournament and will face the Northeastern Clinton Cougars in the semi-finals. It would be the rivalry matchup and senior night at Plattsburgh High as they would host the Peru Nighthawks in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference action. The game would start off slow as there was no scoring in the game for almost the first three minutes of the game but when the scoring came the Hornets would shootout to a 15-11 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the teams would have better luck at the rim throughout, though it would be another 15-11 quarter for the Hornets to give them a 30-22 lead as they went into the locker room. When the teams returned for the third quarter it was a defensive quarter with the Nighthawks winning the low-scoring quarter by the slimness of margins at 7-6 but the Hornets would have the 36-29 lead as they enter the 4th quarter. In the fourth quarter, both offenses would come to play as it would be a 15-13 quarter for the Hornets and they would get the win 51-41. With the win the Hornets will go to 11-8 on the season and will play the Northern Adirondack Bobcats on February 16th will the Nighthawks will fall to 8-10 on the season as they head into their matchup against Northeastern Clinton. The home Hornets would get off to a buzzing start as they would have a 19-2 lead after just the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Sentinels would start to find their game and they would stay with the Hornets as it would be a 14-10 quarter for the Hornets and have a 33-12 lead as they head into the break. When the teams returned for action, the Hornets would keep their foot on the gas pedal, storm with a 21-12 quarter, and extend their lead to 54-24 as they headed into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Hornets would empty the bench with the outcome of the game, not in doubt and the Sentinels would get the quarter 7-4 although the Hornets would hold on for the 57-31 victory. In the winning effort, the Hornets would go to 5-11 on the season and will be back in action Wednesday as they will host the Northeastern Clinton Cougars while the Ticonderoga Sentinels fall to 2-14 on the season and will look to get back on the winning side Friday as they travel to Saranac Lake. It would be a matchup inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Northeastern Clinton Cougars in a rematch of last year's Section VII Class B championship. The game would start off well for the home Hornets as they would come rolling out of the gates and have a 17-9 lead after the opening quarter of the game. In the second quarter, the Hornets would stay hot and were able to extend their lead with a 20-13 quarter to give the Hornets the 37-22 lead at the break. When the teams would return for the second half the Cougars would regroup and find their shot and make it a two-point game at the end of the third quarter at 43-41 Hornets. For the first half of the fourth quarter, the teams would go back and forth, and the game with stay within a couple of points. Then with a little under five minutes left in the game there would a scramble for the ball under the basket and the Cougars would get called for a technical foul from there the game would fall apart for the Cougars and the Hornets would pull away with an eleven point win at 66-55. In the winning effort, the Hornets would go to 6-11 on the season while the Cougars will fall to 11-7 as both teams start looking at the playoff stretch. Gallery

It would be an interconference matchup in section vii as the Seton Catholic Knights from the Mountain Valley Conference would host the Northern Adirondack Bobcats from the Champlain Valley Conference. The game would start off slow as both teams were looking to find their shot as the Bobcats would have the 7-5 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the defenses would still be the game's name as the Knights would win the quarter with a 10-7 and take the slim 15-14 lead at the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half the Bobcats would find the touch with the shot but the Knights would not have the luck as the Bobcats would win the quarter 13-4 and take the 27-19 lead into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Knights still had no luck with the basketball as the Bobcats would win the quarter 14-5 to get the 41-24 win. In the winning effort, the Bobcats would improve their record to 11-1 while the Knights would fall to 8-6 on the season. Both teams were looking for their first win of the season inside the conference didn't make the competition any less exciting. It would start off great for the home Hornets as their offense was firing on all cylinders and would have a 24-10 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the teams would be more equal although the Hornets would still be able to extend their lead with a 13-9 quarter and take a 37-19 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half the offense for the Hornets would stay hot as they would have a 19-11 quarter and take the commanding lead into the 4th quarter at 56-30. In the fourth quarter, the Hornets would take their foot off the gas as they would finish out the game with an 11-9 quarter for the Nighthawks but the Hornets would have a comfortable lead and get the 65-41 victory. When the teams returned for the second half the third quarter would be a tight one as the physical style of the game would start to pick up and the Knights would win the quarter 12-10 and take a 39-32 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Knights would find they're reshot and blow the game open with a 16-6 quarter and secure the 55-38 victory.
