It would be week 4 of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference and the Moriah Vikings would travel up to Plattsburgh and take on the Hornets. The Vikings would show way they are the number 3 in the state as they would get the first score of the game at the 5:41 mark of the first quarter on a 9 yard run by Riley Demarais for the 6-0 lead. Then at the 8:13 mark of the first quarter the Vikings would extend there lead to 14-0 on a 44 yard run by Brady Olcott. In the second quarter the Vikings would break the game wide open with three scores on Riley Demarais second score of the game on a 4 yard run, Boden Valentine 2 yard run and a 28 yard fumble recovery by Rowan Swan and take a 36-0 lead into the intermission. When the teams came back for the second half you could tell the Vikings had turned down the wick as they would get a lone score from Keegan Callahan. While the Hornets would get on the board late in the game on a run by Trenton Griffiths. With the Vikings would secure the 43-6 win and stay undefeated at 4-0 while the Hornets fall to 0-5 on the season. Gallery

Peru Nighthawks @ Plattsburgh Hornets September16th 2022

Peru's Riley Hebert (8) with the catch and fights for extra yards as he fights through the Hornets tackle. It would be the fourth week of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference season and we will see crosstown rivals as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Peru Nighthawks for the bragging rights. The Nighthawks would get the game going just 5:20 in on a 8 yard run by Jack Hanson for the 7-0 lead. On the first offensive play for the Hornets the defense for the Nighthawks would strike with a pick sick by Rocky Hebert and take the quick 14-0 lead. Then two finish off the two minute scoring outburst for the Nighthawks Landon Duprey would score from 25 yards out for a 20-0 lead and that's of the first quarter would come to an end. In the second quarter the Nighthawks would strike for a pair of touchdowns coming from Jack Hanson and Landon Duprey both getting there second score of the game and take a 34-0 lead into the halftime break. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Nighthawks would keep there foot on the gas as they would get a couple more scores again from Hanson and Duprey giving them both three on the game and 48-0 lead. Although in the final minute of the quarter the Hornets would find a spark and break out a 50 yard run and score from Gavin Labounty and breakup the shutout and make it a 48-6 game. In the fourth quarter the Nighthawks would get one more on a seven yard run by Keith Parent and secure the 55-6 victory. In the winning effort the Nighthawks head to 4-0 on the season as they head into there meeting with the Saranac Chiefs. The Knights get there third goal of the game to retake the two goal lead in the closing stages of the game to secure the victory. It would be a interleague tilt as the Seton Catholic Knights from the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference would host the Saranac Lake Red Storm from the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference in Girl's Soccer action. The game would start off good for the Knights as they would get two unaswered in the first half and take a 2-0 lead into the break. In the second half the teams would trade a pair of goals. With that the Seton Catholic Knights would hold for the 3-1 victory. In the winning effort the Knights would get there first win of the season at 1-2 while the Red Storm fall to 2-3 on the season. The Boquet Valley Griffins celebberate as they get the game winner in overtime to beat the Seton Catholic Knights. It would be a matchup inside the Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference as the Seton Catholic Knights would host the Boquet Valley Griffins in Section VII action. The game would be tight through the first half as each team would send a shot of the post that could have gave them the lead. Although when the teams came out for the second half the Griffins would get the opening goal as Braden Liberi would beat the Knights goalie. The Knights would waste little time getting the equalizer as Aiden Pearl would break down the field and beat the goalie in the 48th minute. The game would remain there through the rest of regulation and the teams would head to overtime. In that overtime period Braden Liberi would strike again off a rebound in the 95th minute to get the 2-1 victory. With the win the Griffins go to 3-1 on the season while the Knights fall to 0-4 on the season Gallery.

2xtreme Monster Truck Racing Series @ Vermont State Fair September 10th 2022

Jekyll and Hyde (Rob Poutre) with a leap over Scarlet Bandit (Dawn Creten) that he clears by a good ten feet. The 2xtreme Monster Truck Racing Series would return to the Vermont State Fair in Rutland, Vermont for the second year in a row and with it they would bring Battleground USA BMX and 406 FMX and the monster trucks with Bounty Hunter, Hot Tamale, Jekyll and Hyde and Scarlet Bandit. The day would start of with the two wheel skills contest as each truck would come and get the two shots on the jumps anyway that they would want and when the dust settled Bounty Hunter would get the win. Then as the trucks were cooling down the freestyle antics of bicycles with all the jumps flips and twist. Then it would be to the monster truck for racing action in Chicago style course and the finals would come down to the husband and wife as the Bounty Hunter and Scarlet Bandit would square off and the Bounty Hunter. Then it would be time for intermission where they would have more freestyle bicycles and they would also have freestyle motocross while at it. Then it would be time for the monster truck freestyle but before that there would be a stunt as the Jekyll and Hyde truck would jump over the Scarlet Bandit. Then it would be time for the freestyle to hit the track and each truck would put on there best performance for the crowd but when the dust settled the Jekyll and Hyde would be the winner with a big air assault on the course. The 2xtreme Monster Truck Racing Series will be back in action next weekend as they head to the Midwest and Eldon, Missouri. Gallery

Peru's Zach Hunter (52) with the pass defecltion on the pass from Beekmantown's Nathan Parliament (9). It would be the opening week of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference season and it would start with the classic rivalry as the Peru Nighthawks would meet up with the Beekmantown Eagles. The game would start off good for the Nighthawks as they would get the opening score of the game at the 2:40 mark on a 12 pass to Zach Hunter for the 8-0 lead. Then just two minutes later the Nighthawks would strike again on a 58 yard run from Jack Hanson to extend the Peru lead to 16-0. The Eagles would get on the board in the closing seconds of the quarter on a 4 yard run from Parker Broughton to make it a 16-7 game at the end of the first quarter. Then at the 3:17 mark of the second quarter the Nighthawks would regain there two touchdown lead on a 13 yard pass to Landon Duprey to make it a 22-7 game. Then just about half way through the quarter the Eagles would strike again on a 1 yard run by Parker Broughton to make it a 22-14 game at the intermission. The Eagles would make it a 2 point game half way through the third quarter on a 8 yard pass to Evan Dixon at 22-20. With just over three minutes left in the third quarter Zach O'Connell would escape for a 36 yard run and the Nighthawks would go up 28-20. Then with under three minutes left in the game the Nighthawks would finish off the game on a 4 yard run by Jack Hanson would close out the game at 34-20. In the winning effort the Nighthawks go to 2-0 on the early season as they head to Plattsburgh next weekend against the Hornets. While the Eagles fall to 0-2 on the season and will head home to take on the Moriah Vikings next weekend. Gallery

Peru's Conner Perrotte with the save on Plattsburgh's Luka Meyers that had the ball labeled for the top shelf. We would have a special edition tonight as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Peru Nighthawks in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference JV action. The home Hornets would get off to a quick start as they would score in the third minute of the game from Luca Meyers and take the 1-0 lead. Then in the tenth minute the Hornets would extend there lead to 2-0 as Luxa Meyers would strike again. In the 16th minute the Nighthawks would cut the lead in half and make it a one goal game again on the goal from Collin Powers. Then in the 34th minute the Hornets would regain the two goal lead on the hat trick goal from Luca Meyers. In the winning effort the Hornets head to 4-1 while the Nighthawks fall to 3-1-1 on the early season. Gallery

The Plattsburgh Hornets celeberate as they get the opening goal of the game and take a 1-0 lead. It would be the classic rivalry in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Soccer as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Peru Nighthawks. The host Hornets would get the opening goal of the game as they would take the 1-0 Momin Khan would score in the 18th minute. Then in the final two minutes of the half the Hornets would extend there lead 2-0 on Owen Mulligan. When the teams came back for the second half the Hornets would strike again in the 51st minute to take a 3-0 lead on Owen Mulligain's second goal of the game. Then in the 62nd minute the Hornets would put the finishing touches on the game as Momin Khan would beat the goalie again and take the 4-0 lead and from there the Hornets would on for the win. In the winning effort the Hornets go to 3-1 while the Nighthawks get there first lose of the season and go to 5-1 on the season. Gallery

Seton Catholic's Cooper Metcalf with the fingertip save on the shot from Northern Adirondack's Ze'jon Taylor (3). It would be a battle inside the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference of section vii as the Seton Catholic Knights would host the Northern Adirondack Bobcats at the St. Peter's field. The Bobcats would get the opening goal of the game in the final five minutes of the first half on the Caleb Damour goal to make it 1-0 Bobcats as they head into the half. When the teams came back for the second half it would stay tight but the Bobcats would expand there lead to 2-0 in the 53rd minute on the goal from Tristin Lagree with the assist going to Kyle Reif. Then just a few minutes later the Bobcats would add another to make it a 3-0 game on the Calvin Magoon goal from Austin Lambert. From there the Bobcats would hold on for the 3-0 victory as they go to 2-1 and the Knights fall to 1-1 on the early season. Gallery.

Dominic Falvo with the goal off the penalty kick for his third of the night and retake the Nighthawks lead. It would be a Champlain Valley Athletic Conference game between the visiting Northeastern Clinton Cougars and the home Peru Nighthawks from the Apple Bowl. The Nighthawks would take the early 2-0 lead on the Cougars in the first 12 minutes on two goals from Dominic Falvo. The Cougars would cut the lead in half on the the Wells goal and make it 2-1 in the 13th minute. In the early stages of the second half on a goal by Simpson the Cougars would tie the game at two. The Nighthawks would regain the lead on Dominic Falvo's third goal of the game on a penalty kick in the 58th minute. The Nighthawks would be able to regain there two goal lead at 4-2 on a goal from Seanan Edwards in the 61st minute.Then just in the next minute the Cougars would make it a one goal game again down the stretch from Brown. Although from there Nighthawks defense would be up to the task and the Nighthawks would hold on for the win and go to 4-0 on the season while the Cougars fall to 2-2 on the season. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Teddy Healy (1) with the save on the shot that was in tight from inside the 12 yard zone from Castleton State's Adolpe Alfaine (10). The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Castleton State Spartans in non conference action at the Plattsburgh State field house and the Cardinals would look to continue there hot start to the season. The Cardinals would take the early 1-0 lead in the 16th minute of the game on John Hayes second goal of the season. Then in the 27th minute of the game the Cardinals would expand there lead to 2-0 on the goal from Cole Weiner for his first of the season and that where the game would remain for the rest of the half. When the teams returned for the second half the Cardinals would not let up as they would make it 3-0 in the 62nd minute on Dylan Shavley first of the season. Then just seven minutes later the Cardinals would put the game out of reach on the Rocky Bujaj goal for his second of the year. Then in the final five minutes of the game the Cardinals would put the icing on the cake with the Colter Cheney Seymour first of the season and secure the 5-0 win. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would continue there early season homestand as they would take on in state rival the RPI Engineers in non conference action at the Plattsburgh State Fieldhouse. The Cardinals would get the opening goal of the game at the 14th minute on the Kirsten Villemaire goal. The Cardinals would double up there lead at the 27th minute on the Nora Fitzgerald goal to make it a 2-0 game. From there the Cardinals head into a shutdown defense and hold onto the 2-0 game for the victory. In the winning effort Lauren Haley would make 6 saves in the shutout win as the Cardinals head to 4-0 on the season. Gallery

Saranac's Sydney Myers (10) breaks in on the breakaway and beats the goalie near side as part of a five goal game. It would be a Champlain Valley Athletic Conference game in Girl's Soccer action that would he the Saranac Chiefs hosting the Plattsburgh Hornets. It would be a game that the Chiefs will not soon forget as they would totally control the Hornets as they would go on for the 13-0 victory. In the winning effort the Syndey Myers would score five goals and Oliva Davis would add two more and the rest would divided up over 6 players. As the Chiefs will start the season off at 1-0 and the Hornets fall to 2-2 as they head into the second week of play and will look to the right the ship. Gallery

Beekmantown's (11) with the shoot on net in traffic as she would have a goal in the first half. It would be crosstown rivalry game in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Beekmantown Eagles in girl's soccer action and the goals would becoming fast and furious on the night. The Hornets would get the opening goal of the game in the fourth minute from Emma Colter for the 1-0 Hornets lead. The Eagles would answer back in the 11th minute on goal from Maggie Labarge to tie the game at one. The Hornets would retake the lead at 2-1 on Emma Colter's second goal of the game. From there the Eagles would out with three goals unanswered in the last 13 minutes of half from Grace McCasland and Maggie LaBarge. When the teams came back for the second half the teams would combine for another seven goals as the Eagles take the shootout victory 7-6. In the winning effort the Eagles get there season started with a win as the Hornets suffer there first defeat of the season and fall to 2-1 on the season. Gallery

It would be home opener for last years defending New York State class C Champions as they would host neighbor the Peru Nighthawks in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference action. The game would start off good for the Patriots as they would get six goals in the first half from Kate Knapp, Sara Richards, Kaydence Hoehn (twice), Addie Stanley, and Jillian Beizo. In the second half it would be more of the same as they would add another four goals from Lilley Keyser, Kaydence Hoehn (third and fourth of the night) and Addie Stanley (second of the night) to finish of the Nighthawks. In the winning effort the Patriots go to 1-1 on the season while Nighthawks go to 0-3 on the early season. Gallery

Jamy Begor (19) and Travis Bruno (33r) would battle it out on the track for the race win and the points title for the 2022 J+S Steel Sportsman Modified. It would be the final round of the 2022 racing season at the Airborne Speedway and be presented by Unifrist and the Mohawk Valley Vintage Dirt Modifieds would be on hand as well. The night would start with all the cars in the pits coming out on the track and taking part in a four wide salute to the fans thanking them for there attendance throughout the 2022 racing season. First up on the night would be the first of two features on the night for the Mohawk Valley Vintage Dirt Modified and the win would go to Justin Perry after Tim Hagerty had a full straightaway lead on the last lap and the car just dies. Then it would be onto the heat races for the regular divisions at the track and first up would be the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified and the winners would be Jason Bruno and Bucko Branham. Then next up would be the Hartson Total Opening Renegades with there two heats and the winners would be Cody Agoney and Jim McKerrian. Then we would have the Northern Blacktopping Limited Sportsman Modified for there heat and the win would go to Scott Fitzgerald. Then to finish off the heat races on the night it would be the Taylor Rental 4 Cylinders with there three heats and the winners would be Kenny Tourville, Josh LaPorte and Jake Fountain. Then it would be onto the second half of the races on the night and it would start with the second feature of the Mohawk Valley Vintage Dirt Modified and the win would go to Randy Delaney. Then we would be onto the Hartson Total Opening Renegades Main and the points championship would come down to Richie Turner and Nathaniel Guay and by Richie Turner getting a third place on the night he would be crowned the 2022 Hartson Total Opening Renegades champion while Tylor Terry would come across and get his fourth win of the season take the bragging rights into the off season of getting the last win of the season. Then next up would be the Northern Blacktopping Limited Sportsman Modified for there 15 lap event and Scott Fitzgerald would get the spoiling Cody O'Brien's to go back to back in the division. Then it would be onto the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified main and there title would come down to a three person battle between Jamy Begor Travis Bruno and Codie Aubin. Begor would go out there knowing he needed some help to win the championship and he did everything in his power to win the title as he would come up from his 9th place starting position and win the race that went 25 laps caution free but by Travis Bruno taking home a third place he would hold on for a 14 point win and be crowned a two time defending champion of the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified. Then it would be the final race of the 2022 Airborne Speedway season as the Taylor Rental 4 Cylinders would hit to the track for there 20 lap race with the championship being decided last week it would be all for pride on the line and the race would be caution free and see Kenny Tourville getting the last race of the season. Now its time for the teams to put the cars away for the season and wait on the banquet and then till we all get together again next year for the 2023 edition of the Airborne Speedway. Gallery

Peru's Zach O'Connell (5) with the stiff arm on the Malone defender as he turns the corner and cuts up the field. It would be the opening weekend of the high school football season and the Peru Nighthawks would host Section X's Malone Huskies in non conference action. The Nighthawks would get off to a quick start with a 8 yard pass to Landon Duprey 3:40 into the game for the 6-0 lead. Then just over three minutes later the Nighthawks would strike again to make it a 13-0 lead on a 22 yard pass to Rocky Hebert. Then in the second quarter the Nighthawks would open up the flood gates and strike four times to take a 40-0 lead into the break on scores from Jack Hanson, Landon Duprey, Rocky Hebert, and Jack Hayes. When the teams back for the second half there would be no let up as they would get another two scores to take a 53-0 lead on scores from Landon Duprey (third of the game), and Zach Hunter. In the fourth quarter the Nighthawks would get one more to secure the 60-0 victory on a 38 yard pass to Preston Daniels. With the win the Nighthawks will start there season 1-0 as they will welcome in the Beekmantown Eagles next week to get there conference season underway.
