Potsdam State's Alyson Crosby (22) with the off-balance shot over Plattsburgh State's Misa Dowdell (55) as part of an eight-point game. It would be a pair of North Country foes taking to the hardwood at Memorial Hall as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Potsdam State Bears. It would be a tight but good start for the Cardinals as they would have a slim 19-17 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the teams would still be tight but the Bears were just a little better as they win the quarter 17-13 and take a 34-32 lead into the locker room. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Bears would start to pull away as they would have a 19-12 quarter and take a 53-44 lead into the fourth. In that fourth quarter, the Cardinals would do their best to get back into it with a 19-14 but it wouldn't be enough as they would fall by a score of 67-63. In the winning effort, the Bears Madison McCormick would lead the way 18 points as they go to 5-1. While for the Cardinals Mya Smith would lead the way with 20 points as they go to 3-3 on the season. Potsdam State's Mesean Johnson (2) drives by Plattsburgh State's Kevin Tabb (1) and takes flight for the hard layup as part of a 13 point night. It would be a SUNYAC battle between North Country foes as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Potsdam State Bears in the first conference match of the season. It would be a hotly contested first half and see the Bears come out with the 38-29 lead at the half. In the second half the team's offensive would step up on both sides and the Cardinals would fight hard to get back in the game with a 51-46 half. Although it would not be enough as the Cardinals would fall 84-80. In the losing effort for the Cardinals, Erik Salo would lead the way with 22 points as they fall to 1-5 on the season. As for the Potsdam State Bears, Colton Huestis would lead the way with 22 points as they go to 2-2 on the season. Next up for the Cardinals will be the Cortland State Red Dragons on December 3rd. Elmira's Eliza Beaudin (25) with the game-winner in overtime over the shoulder and just under the bar for the score. It would be a battle of top 5 and former conference foes in the third-place game of the Cardinal/Panther Classic as the #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals host the #5 Elmira Soaring Eagles. It would take to almost the end of the first period before we had our first goal when the Cardinals would light the lamp with 1:08 left on the Lilly Stumm goal. In an odd turn of events, the Soaring Eagles would answer back quickly just 1:08 into the second period on the Mary McCafferty goal to tie the game at one. The Cardinals would keep the hammer down and get the lead back with 4:48 left in the period on the Ivy Boric powerplay goal to make it a 2-1 Cardinals leads. Although their lead would be short-lived again as the Soaring Eagles tie the game at two with 1:05 left on the Holly Riva goal. The Soaring Eagles would get a quick hitter on the shorthand just 1:10 into the period on Mary McCafferty's shorthanded goal and second of the night to make it 3-2 Eagles. Although the Cardinals would keep up the fight and tie the game at three on the Nicole Unsworth goal at 7:54 of the third period. The game would remain tied and the teams would head to the overtime period and in the overtime, Eliza Beaudin would send the Cardinal faithful home unhappy as she would score with 1:49 left and give the Elmira Soaring Eagles the 4-3. The Middlebury Panthers have crowned the 2021 Cardinal/Panther Classic champions. It would be the finals of the 2021 Cardinal/Panther Classic and it would be a battle of top ten teams as the #2 Middlebury Panthers and the #9 Endicott Gulls would faceoff. It would be a matchup of two evenly matched teams as it would take till the start of the second period for the opening goal of the game from the Gulls just 17 seconds into the period from Quin Healy. That is where the game would stay till the 1:09 mark of the third period when the Panthers would get an equalizer from Cat Appleyard. The Panthers would stay on the gas and take the 2-1 lead on the Madie Ledt goal at the 10:01 mark and that is where the game would finish. In the winning effort, the Panthers go to 5-0 and be crowned the 2021 Cardinal/Panther Classic Champion while the Endicott Gulls fall to 7-2 on the season. Gallery.

Endicott's Samantha Fantasia (19) puts the puck in the back of the net for the breakaway game-winner in overtime. It would be the opening of the Cardinal/Panther Classic as the #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would play host to the #9 Endicott Gulls, The game would start off good for the home Cardinals as they would get the opening goal of the game at the 10:59 mark of the first period from Emma Killeen for the 1-0 lead. Although the Gulls would have answered back about 90 seconds later as Quin Healy would tie the game up at 1. That is where the game would stay till the 9:28 mark of the second period when the Cardinals would regain the lead at 2-1 on the Sierra Benjamin goal at the 9:28 mark of the second period. Just 40 seconds later the Cardinals would strike again to take the two-goal lead on the Sara Krauseneck goal. Although that would not keep the Gulls from fighting back at they would answer back three minutes later on the powerplay on the Kaylee Liberty goal to make it 3-2. The Gulls would keep fighting and eventually get the equalizer halfway through the third period on Quin Healy's second goal of the night to make it 3-3. That is where the game would stay as they enter the overtime period until Samatha Fantasia would come down on the breakaway and score for the Gulls with 35 seconds left and get the 4-3 Gulls win and ending the Cardinals 44 game home winning streak. In the losing, effort Ashley Davis would make 14 saves as the Cardinals fall to 6-1 on the season. As the Gulls Michaela O'Brien would make 56 saves as they advance to the finals of the Cardinal/Panther Classic and get the winner of the Middlebury and Elmira game. Gallery.

The Middlebury Panthers on the scramble play in front of the night for the goal. It would be the second semi-finals game of the Cardinal/Panther Classic and would feature a battle of top 5 teams as the #2 Middlebury Panthers would faceoff with longtime foe the #5 Elmira Soaring Eagles. It would be a matchup between a couple of very evenly matched foes as all the scoring would come in the second period of the game. The Eagles would get the opening goal of the game at the 9:37 mark of the period on the powerplay from Mary McCafferty. Although the Panthers would have an answer coming as they would score at the 15:56 mark on the Kylie Quinlan goal to make it 1-1. Forty seconds later the Panthers would get the lead on the Madie Ledt goal for the 2-1 lead. From there the defenses would step up on both sides and the Panthers would hold on for the 2-1 victory. In the winning effort, the Panthers go to 4-0 on the season as Sophia Meragaes would make 29 saves and head to the finals against the Endicott Gulls. Plattsburgh State's Annie Katonka (47) with the backhander just outside the crease for one of her two goals on the night. It would be the second game of a weekend doubleheader for the #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals as they were hosting the Morrisville State Mustangs in NEWHL action. The Cardinals would waste little time getting on the board 49 seconds into the game on a backhander from Annie Katonka for the 1-0 lead. The Cardinals would expand their lead to 2-0 on a powerplay goal by Kaitlin Drew-Mead at the 7:58 mark of the period. That might be where the scoring stopped in the first period but the Cardinals would explode for four goals in the second period from Mattie Norton, Tatem Cheney, Nicole Unsworth, and Mae Olshansky and take a huge 6-0 lead into the third period. In the third period the Cardinals would not let off the gas as they would score three more times this time from Sara Krausneck, Annie Katonka (2nd of the night), and Mae Olshansky (second of the night) and they would secure the 9-0 win. In the winning effort, Lilla Nease would make 20 saves for their first career shutout as the Cardinals would go to 5-0 on the season. Moriah's Riley Demarais (8) with the leaping catch in traffic along the sidelines for the first down and huge gain. It would be the Quarterfinals of the NYSPHSAA Class D Football Championships and the #9 Moriah Vikings would take on the Haldane Blue Devils with a trip to the final four on the line from the Ausable Valley High School in Clintonville, NY. The first quarter would be a defensive battle as both teams would be held off the scoreboard. On this cold night, the Vikings would finally break through the ice with a score at the 4:19 mark of the second quarter on a 2 yard run from Caleb Harris for the 8-0 lead after they went for two. Then with 32 seconds left in the half, the Vikings would strike again this time on a 50 yard run from Rowan Swan and they would double their advantage at 16-0 as they would head into the locker rooms. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Vikings would keep their foot down and add another score with 3:30 left in the quarter on the quarterback keeper from the 1-yard line and take the 22-0 lead. From there defense would keep Haldane off the board and secure the 22-0. In the winning effort, the Vikings stay undefeated on the season at 9-0 and will head to Middletown, NY next weekend and take on #4 Greenwich in the final four with a chance to head back to the dome for a state title the first week in December. Ogdensburg's Andrew Loffler (30) tippy toes down the sidelines as Saranac Lake's Raymond Santiago (21) holds onto the back of the jersey. It would be the opening round of the NYSPHSAA Class C Tournament between the Saranac Lake Red Storm and the Ogdensburg Blue Devils at Plattsburgh High School. The Red Storm would come out and get the opening score of the game at the 4:01 mark of the first quarter on a 2 yard run from Conor Hewitt. Although the Blue Devils would have answered at the 7:01 mark on a one-yard run by Tristan Lovely to tie the game at seven. Saranac Lake would fight back and take the lead back on a second Conor Hewitt touchdown from 19 yards to make it 14-8 at the 3:33 mark of the second quarter. Then at the midway mark of the second quarter, the Blue Devils would strike back on a ten-yard pass to Justice McIntrye to tie the game at 14 as they would head into the half. The game would stay there till the last minute of the third quarter when the Blue Devils would score on a 16 yard run by Andrew Loffler and the two-point conversion to make it 22-14 Blue Devils. Then in the final two minutes of the game, the Blue Devils would put the game out of reach on a 61 yard run by Drew Costello and secure the 28-14 win, and advance to the quarterfinals weekend. Plattsburgh State's Payton Couture (33) with the jumper in the lane for two of her fifteen points. It would be day 2 of the Cardinal Classic as the host Plattsburgh State Cardinals would take on the Norwich Cadets. The game would start off slow as the defenses would be on their game as the Cadets would have the low 14-10 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the defenses would stay up as the Cardinals would win it 10-5 and have the 20-19 lead at the half. When the teams came back for the third quarter so did the Cardinals offense as they would explode for a 29-6 quarter and take a 49-25 lead. In the fourth quarter, they would just let it ride and win the quarter 20-19 and secure the 69-44 win. In the winning effort, Mya Smith would lead the way with 16 points as they go to 3-1 on the season and Norwich remains winless in the early season. Gallery

Potsdam State's Madison McCormick (11) takes flight in the lane for the layup as part of a nine-point game. It would be the first game of the second day of the Cardinal Classic and would feature the Potsdam State Bears and the Cobleskill Tigers. The game would start well for the Bears as they jump out to the 15-10 lead. In the second quarter, the Tigers would fight back and take the slim 24-23 lead at the half with a 14-8 quarter. When the teams came back for the second half the Tigers would stay hot as they would extend their lead to 44-38 with a 20-15 quarter. Although in the fourth quarter the Bears would catch fire with a 23-11 quarter and pull out the win at the end with a 61-55 win. Plattsburgh State's Brittani Campbell (12) hangs in the air as she drives down the lane scores 2 of her ten points on the night. It would be the opening game of the Cardinal Classic as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Cobleskill Tigers. The game would not start off good for the home Cardinals as they would trail 21-15 after the opening stanza. In the second quarter, the Cardinals would keep it closer but still wouldn't have an answer as the Tigers win the quarter 15-14 giving the Tigers the 36-29 lead at the intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Cardinals found a way to break the Tigers defense as they win the quarter 21-9 to take a 50-45 lead into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Cardinals offense would stay in fire winning the quarter 21-15 and securing the 71-60 victory. In the winning effort, the Cardinals would play the Norwich Cadets the second day for a chance to win the Cardinal Classic. In the second game of the night from the Cardinal Classic, the Potsdam State Bears would take on the Norwich Cadets. The games would start out with the defenses being top-notch as the Bears would have a slim 10-6 lead. In the second quarter, the Bears would start to pull away with a 15-8 quarter and take a 25-14 lead into the half. When the teams came back for the second quarter the Bears came back with their offense as they would be on fire with a 25-7 quarter and pull away with a 50-21 lead. In the fourth quarter, the Bears would stay on the gas with a 22-10 quarter and secure the 72-31 victory. In the winning effort, Madison McCormick would lead the way with 16 points as they even the record at 1-1 on the season while the Cadets are now 0-2 on the season. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Sara Krauseneck (25) charges in on the short side and puts it off the goalie and Mattie Norton is there for the rebound goal. It would be an early-season match-up between a pair of top ten rivals as the #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #10 Norwich Cadets at the Ronald Stafford Ice Arena in front of over 500 fans. The visiting Cadets would get the quick opening goal just 1:37 into the game from Ally Lague for the 1-0. That is where the game would stay for the rest of the first period and until the 4:50 mark of the second period when Mattie Norton would tie the game on the powerplay goal. The Cardinals would keep on the pedal and take the lead at the 10:34 mark of the period on the Nicole Unsworth goal to make it 2-1. The Cardinals wouldn't be done though as they would add a third goal at the 16:55 mark on the Annie Katonka goal for the 3-1 game. In the third period, the Cardinals would put the icing on the cake at the 11:08 mark on the powerplay goal by Mattie Norton for her second goal of the night and secure the 4-1 victory. In the winning effort, Ashley Davis would make 19 saves as the Cardinals go to 2-0 on the season. Next up for the Cardinals will be a pair of road games against Buffalo State and Oswego State. Plattsburgh State's Carson Gallagher (28) comes in on the breakaway in overtime looking for the winner. It would be the classic SUNYAC contest as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Oswego State Lakers in front of 1600 fans with the early season lead on the line. The game would start well for the Cardinals as Bennett Stockdale would get the opener with 3:44 left in the period to make it 1-0 and let the return of the tennis ball commence as they would come a flying from the stands . Then riding the surge from the goal just two minutes later the Cardinals would strike on the power play from Carson Gallagher to make it 2-0 cardinals. The Lakers would fight back in the second period and get on the board at the 5:26 mark to make it 2-1 on the Tyler Antonucci goal. Then at the 12:48 mark of the period, the Lakers would get the equalizer from Alex Dicarlo to make it 2-2. That is where the game would stay through the rest of the period and the third and overtime for a 2-2 tie. With the tie, Anthony Del Tufo would make 26 saves on 28 shots as they go to 2-1-1 on the season. Next up for the Cardinals would be a road tilt against the Brockport State Golden Eagles. Gallery

The Moriah Vikings pose for their team photo as they are crowned the 2021 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference D champions. It would be the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class D Football championships and it would be another appearance by the #1 Moriah Vikings expect this time they would be taking on the #2 Ausable Valley Patriots for the right to head to the state playoffs and the road to the carrier dome. The upset-minded Patriots would get the opening score of the game on a 12 yard run by Ethan Snow and would take the 7-0 lead with three minutes left in the first quarter. Although the lead would be short-lived as the Moriah Vikings and Bryce Spraque would run back the ensuing kickoff 83 yards for the score with 1:48 left in the quarter although the two-point conversion would fail and the Patriots would have the slim 7-6 lead. The Vikings would officially take the 12-7 lead as Bryce Spraque would strike again although this time through the air on a 15-yard pass at the 5:16 mark of the second quarter and would stay that way for the first half. The Vikings would expand their lead to 20-7 on a 35-yard keeper by Rowan Swan and would also get the two-point conversion. The Patriots would answer right back on their next drive with Ethan Snow's second rushing touchdown of the day to make it a 20-13 game. That is where the game would end up with the Vikings being crowned the 2021 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class D Champions although the Patriots wouldn't go down without swinging to get the tying score. With the win, the Vikings enter the NYSPHSAA Class D Tournament at a perfect 8-0 and wait for the winner from the capital district in a couple of weeks while the Ausable Valley Patriots season comes to end at 5-3. The Saranac Lake Red Storm pose for their team photo as they are crowned the 2021 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference C champions. It would be a battle of the Saranac's in the 2021 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class C Championship as the #1 Saranac Lake Red Storm would take on the #3 Saranac Chiefs. The Red Storm would waste little time in taking the early lead at 7-0 on the Connor Hewitt 20 yard run at the 2:05 mark of the first quarter. Then with just under three minutes left in the quarter, the Red Storm would strike again and make it 14-0 on a Connor Hewitt 1 yard run. The Chiefs would have an answer with a 31 yard run by Cayden Bouiva and get themself back in the game at 14-6 after the extra point would be blocked. The Chiefs wouldn't be done through as they would come back on their next drive and strike with a 75-yard pass and catch to Justin Bedard at the 1:04 mark of the second quarter and make it 14-12 game after an unsuccessful two-point conversion attempt. The Red Storm would answer right back like twenty seconds later on a 64 yard run by Connor Hewitt for his third touchdown of the half and make it a 21-12 game. Then at the 7:18 mark of the quarter, the Chiefs would come back again and score on a 4 yard run by Hunter Devins to make it a 21-19 game. Then in the closing seconds of the half, the Chiefs would take the lead at 22-21 on a 28-yard field goal. That is where the score would stay till the 4:58 mark of the fourth quarter when Hunter Devins would get his second score of the game on a 6-yard run to extend their lead to 29-21. Although the Red Storm would keep fighting and with about 90 seconds left Connor Hewitt would score on the goal line and they would get the two-point conversion and tie the game at 29 force overtime. In the overtime, Red Storms Connor Hewitt would score from 4 yards out and take a 36-29 lead. The Chiefs would be next up and they would score on the Hunter Devins run. That's where the game would get good the Chiefs would lineup for the win instead of going for the tie and sending it to another overtime. They would score on the two-point play and everyone had thought the chiefs had won the title but there was a yellow flag on the field and it would be called back on a false start. So then seeing that they had to go 5 yards farther back and make it from the 7-yard line they decided to take the field goal and that would go wide right and the Red Storm would hold on for the 36-35 victory, In the winning effort, the Red Storm would advance to the NYSPHSAA Class C Tournament and will play Ogdensburg next weekend and go to 4-4 on the season while the Saranac Chiefs season will come to end at 2-7. The Peru Nighthawks pose for their team photo as they are crowned the 2021 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class B Champions. It would be the start of football championship weekend for the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference with the Class B title on the line between the #1 Peru Nighthawks and the #2 Plattsburgh Hornets at the Beekmantown High School. In the classic rivalry between the Peru Nighthawks and Plattsburgh Hornets, the defenses would be the stars of the game for the most part. As the Nighthawks would not get on the board till the 8:53 mark of the second quarter when Landen Duprey would score on the touchdown pass from Zach O'Connell. That is where the score would style through the remainder of the half. The Nighthawks would get their second score of the game from Zach O'Connell with 1:30 left in the third quarter on a one-yard quarterback keeper to make it 14-0 Peru. Then in the final minutes of the game, the Nighthawks would tack on a 41-yard field goal from Keegan Smith to give them the 17-0 victory and the 2021 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class B Championship. With the win, they improve to 6-2 on the season and advance to the NYSPHSAA Tournament and will play the Massena Red Raiders in the opening round while the Plattsburgh Hornets season comes to end at 4-4. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals celeberate as they get the game winner in overtime. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Cortland State Red Dragons in the openner of SUNYAC play for the season. The openner would be a shootout as the Red Dragons would get the first two goals on the game in the first eight minutes from Johnny Facchini and Nate Berke. Although the Cardinals would get on the board at the 12:51 mark of the period on Johnny Mancusco goal and thats where the first period would end. In the second period the teams would trade a pair of goals with Ethan Homitz and Sutter Donegan scoring for the Red Dragons while Joey Mancusco would get a pair and the hat trick on the night. Although the cardinals would enter the third period trailing 4-3. The Red Dragons would strike early in the third period on the Domenic Settimo goal to make it a 5-3 game. The Cardinals would answer back at the 11:48 mark to make it a one goal game on the Jake Lanyi goal. Then with just about 2:30 left in the game the Cardinals would tie the game up at 5 on the Bennett Stockdale goal and thats where the game would stay and force overtime. In the overtime you would see the NCAA's new overtime rule as it would be 3x3 and in that the Cardinals would get the game winner with 1:30 left on Bennett Stockdale's second of the night. In the winning effort Anthony Del Tufo would make 34 saves as they go to 2-1 on the season while Cortland State falls to 1-1 on the season.
