It would be a battle of the Saranac's in the 2021 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class C Championship as the #1 Saranac Lake Red Storm would take on the #3 Saranac Chiefs. The Red Storm would waste little time in taking the early lead at 7-0 on the Connor Hewitt 20 yard run at the 2:05 mark of the first quarter. Then with just under three minutes left in the quarter, the Red Storm would strike again and make it 14-0 on a Connor Hewitt 1 yard run. The Chiefs would have an answer with a 31 yard run by Cayden Bouiva and get themself back in the game at 14-6 after the extra point would be blocked. The Chiefs wouldn't be done through as they would come back on their next drive and strike with a 75-yard pass and catch to Justin Bedard at the 1:04 mark of the second quarter and make it 14-12 game after an unsuccessful two-point conversion attempt. The Red Storm would answer right back like twenty seconds later on a 64 yard run by Connor Hewitt for his third touchdown of the half and make it a 21-12 game. Then at the 7:18 mark of the quarter, the Chiefs would come back again and score on a 4 yard run by Hunter Devins to make it a 21-19 game. Then in the closing seconds of the half, the Chiefs would take the lead at 22-21 on a 28-yard field goal. That is where the score would stay till the 4:58 mark of the fourth quarter when Hunter Devins would get his second score of the game on a 6-yard run to extend their lead to 29-21. Although the Red Storm would keep fighting and with about 90 seconds left Connor Hewitt would score on the goal line and they would get the two-point conversion and tie the game at 29 force overtime. In the overtime, Red Storms Connor Hewitt would score from 4 yards out and take a 36-29 lead. The Chiefs would be next up and they would score on the Hunter Devins run. That's where the game would get good the Chiefs would lineup for the win instead of going for the tie and sending it to another overtime. They would score on the two-point play and everyone had thought the chiefs had won the title but there was a yellow flag on the field and it would be called back on a false start. So then seeing that they had to go 5 yards farther back and make it from the 7-yard line they decided to take the field goal and that would go wide right and the Red Storm would hold on for the 36-35 victory, In the winning effort, the Red Storm would advance to the NYSPHSAA Class C Tournament and will play Ogdensburg next weekend and go to 4-4 on the season while the Saranac Chiefs season will come to end at 2-7.
