#3 Peru Nighthawks @ #2 Plattsburgh Hornets October 25th 2024
The Plattsburgh Hornets would celebrate as they would get the game-winning overtime for the 1-0 win. It would be the semi-finals of the Section VII Class A Girl's Soccer as the #2 Pittsburgh Hornets would host the #3 Peru Nighthawks, with the winner taking on the #1 Beekmantown Eagles on October 30t in the title game. This game would go back and forth all evening, with both teams having their chances to get on the board, but regulation would not be enough on this day, and overtime would needed. In the overtime, they would enter scoreless, go through the first ten minutes, and no one would score. So they would need double overtime on this evening, and in that overtime, Bailey Hewson would send the home crowd home happy as sh would sneak it under the crossbar for the goal. That would give the Hornets the 1-0 win, and they go to 13-3 in the season as they head into the title game against the Beekmantown Eagles. As for the Peru Nighhawks, their season will end at 5-10-1. Potsdam State Bears @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals October 23rd 2024
Plattsburgh State's Kelly Licata (31) drives down the field gets their shot off from outside the box, and gets 1 of her 2 goals on the evening as they get the 3-0 win. We would SUNYAC Women's Soccer action from the Plattsburgh State Fieldhouse Soccer complex as they would host the Potsdam State Bears and were looking for their first win at home this season. The Cardinals would get the match's opening goal in the tenth minute as Kelly Licata would score for her third goal of the season and the 1-0 lead. The Cardinals and Kelly Licata would strike again in the 25th minute as they would take the 2-0 lead. The Cardinals would stay hot and extend the lead to 3-0 in the 32nd second minute when Allison Brown would score her third of the season and give them the 3-0 lead, and that's how the half would end. In the second half, both teams would have their chances but could not find the back of the net as the Cardinals would get the 3-0 win and improve their record to 4-11-1 on the season as they head into their final game Saturday against Canton. Northeastern Clinton Cougars @ #7 Peru Nighhthawks October 22nd 2024
Peru's Nick Petro (12) with the flick shot past the Northeastern Clinton defender as he would score to clinch the Nighthawks 3-1 victory. It would be the regular season final for both the Northeaster Clinton Cougars and the #7 Peru Nighthawks, and they would meet up at the Apple Bowl at Peru High School. The Nighthawks would look to avenge their only time of the season. The Nighthawks would control the game through the first half, but no one could find the niet, and it would be tied at zero. The game would stay there until the Cougars took the 1-0 lead in the 42nd minute on the Evias Carpenter goal. They would stay there till the 69th minute when the Nighthawks would break through and tie the game in the 69th minute on the Collin Powers goal. Then, three minutes later, in the 72nd minute, the Nighthawks would take the lead on the Nolan Miner goal at 2-1. Then, to finish off the 9-minute bridge, the Nighthawks would make it a 3-1 game in the 78th minute on the Nick Petro goal. The Nighthawks would get the win, finish off the undefeated regular season at 13-0-1, and go into the playoffs as the number 1 seed in the Section VII A bracket. #16 Saranac Spartans @ #20 Plattsburgh Hornets October 21st 2024
Plattsburgh's Bailey Hewson (10) with the goal that beats Saranac's Layla Pellerin (1) for one of her two goals on the night in their 3-0 win over the Saranac Spartans. We would have a match-up inside the top of Girl's Soccer action for Section All, be it one team from Class A and the other from B inside Section VII, as the #20 Plattsburgh Hornets would host the #16 Saranac Chiefs in their last game of the regular season. The home Hornets would get off to the early lead on the 6th-minute goal from Bailey Hewson to give them the early 1-0 lead. The Hornets would waste little time expanding their lead to 2-0 on Bailey Hewson's second goal of the game in the 18th minute, and that's how the scoring would end for the 1st half. Then, when the teams returned for the second half, the Hornets would take control of the game in the 48th minute when Amaya Abellard scored to take the 3-0 lead, and that's where the scoring would end. In the winning effort, the Plattsburgh Hornets would finish their regular season at 12-3 and enter the Section VII Class A playoffs as the #2 seed. As for the Saranac Spartans, they will go to 7-6-2 during a nonsectional game against the Canton Bears on Wednesday to finish off the regular season. Gallery
Northern Adirondack Bobcats @ Seton Catholic Knights October 21st 2024
Northern Adirondack's Kyle Reif (10) and Seton Catholic's (9) battle for the ball along the sidelines as the Bobcats would get the 4-0 win. It would be the Seton Catholic Knights' last home game and senior night as they would host the Northern Adirondack Bobcats in Section VII Boy's Soccer action. The Bobcats would waste little time and get the game's opening goal in the third minute from Kaleb Guay to give them the early 1-0 lead. Then, in the 22nd minute of the game, the Bobcats would stay on the gas and add another one, this time from Calvin Magoon, to make it 2-0 Bobcats, and that's how the first half would end for scoring. When the teams return for the second half, the Bobcats stay on the attack and add another goal in the 62nd minute as they extend their lead to 3-0 on the goal from Donovan Turner. Then, in the 72nd minute, the Bobcats would end the scoring on the Shane Gilmore goal as they would secure their 4-0 win. In the winning effort, the Northern Adirondack Bobcats would go to 8-4-1 as they will finish their regular season tomorrow at Beekmantown. Plattsburgh Hornets @ #25 Beekmantown Eagles October 18th 2024
Beekmantown's Shamus Bilbeau (1) goes around the defenders for the score as the Eagles would get the 55-16 victory. It would be a battle of the top two teams in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference during week #7 as the #25 Beekmantown Eagles would host the Plattsburgh Hornets. The Eagles would get off to a fast start just 2:12 into the game on a 34-yard run by Shamus Bilbeau to give the 7-0 lead. Then, three minutes later, the Eagles would strike again, this time on a Parker Broughton score from 14 yards out and take the 14-0 lead. Then, in the final minute of the quarter, Parker Broughton would score again, this time from 39 yards out, and take the 20-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Hornets would answer back 24 seconds into the second quarter on an 85-yard catch and run to Dominic Deangelo to make it a 20-8 game. However, the Eagles would answer right back 30 seconds later on a 50-yard pass and catch to Parker Broughton for his third score of the half as they made it a 28-8 game. Then, just over five minutes into the second quarter, Miguel Herrera was on the 1-yard score. The Eagles would end the scoring in the first half on a 30-yard pass to Patrick Hagadorn with seconds left to take the 41-8 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half, the Eagles would pick up right where they left off as they would score just 2:15 into the quarter on a 13-yard run from Parker Broughton for his fourth score and make it a 48-8 game. Danny Hartman would be intercepted on the issuing Hornets drive, and Seth Beebee would bring it back for the score and make it a 55-8 game. In the fourth quarter, the Hornets would get their second score of the game coming from George Dejesus to make it a 55-16 game, and that's where the game would end. In the winning effort, the Beekmantown Eagles would go to 6-1 on the season and finish off their season next weekend at Ausable Valley as they have clinched the regular season title. As for the Plattsburgh Hornets will fall to 4-3 in the season and travel to Saranac Lake and take on the Red Storm next, as they will look to finish 2nd in the season. Gallery
Ausable Valley Patriots @ Peru Nighthawks October 18th 2024
Peru's Chris Williams (12) broke through the tackle for the big gain as the Nighthawks would get the 41-8 victory and go to 4-2 on the season. It would be week 7 of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference season, and the Peru Nighthawks would host the Ausable Valley Patriots on the Nighthawk's senior night. The Nighthawks would take the early lead in the game at 7-0 on the 4-yard rush by Chase Carpenter 2 minutes into the game. Then, to finish the quarter, the Nighthawks would add two rushing touchdowns to give them the 21-0 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Nighthawks continued their success and added a pair of touchdowns from Chase Carpenter and Jake Frechette, who took the 34-0 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Nighthawks would stay hot and expand their lead to 41-0 on the Owen Smith 1-yard run. Then, in the fourth quarter, the Patriots would break through and get on the board as they connected on a 74-yard pass to Lucas Dashnaw and got the two-point conversion to make it a 41-8 game, and that's where the scoring would end. With the win, the Nighthawks go to 4-2 in the season as they enter the season finale next week against the Moriah Vikings. As for the Ausable Valley Patriots, they fall to 0-7 on the season and will finish off their season next weekend against the Beekmantown Eagles. Gallery
Lake Placid Blue Bombers @ Seton Catholic Knights October 18th 2024
With the shot on net, Lake Placid's (9) would have one of the two Blue Bombers goals as they get the 2-0 lead. It would be senior day at Seton Catholic, where they would celebrate the first class of seniors to play on their new school field at halftime and host the Lake Placid Blue Bombers. The game would be tight through the first half as both teams would have their chances, but no one could put in the net for a score. When the teams returned for the second half, the Blue Bombers answered early with a goal in the 49th minute to give them the 1-0 lead. Then, in the game's closing minutes, the 76th to be exact, the Blue Bombers would add a second goal to secure the 2-0 win. In the winning effort, the Lake Placid Blue Mombers would go to 6-7-1 on the season as they head into their weekend contest against the Northern Adirondack Bobcats. As for the Knights, they will stay winless as they fall to 0-14 on the season and head into their road contest against section 4 Groton Cardinals on Tuesday. Gallery
Northern Adirondack Bobcats @ Plattsburgh Hornets October 17th 2024
Plattsburgh's Julia Luck (15) with the bump on the return from the Bobcats to set up the Hornes attack as they would get the straight sets victory. It would be Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Volleyball action from Plattsburgh High School as the Hornets would host the Northern Adirondack Bobcats in a late-season tilt. The Plattsburg Hornets would leave little to the contest as they would take the straight-set victory by the score of 25-14, 25-10, and 25-14 for the victory. With the victory, the Hornets would stay perfect on the season as they go to 12-0 and head into their next match next week at Beekmantown for a matchup between the top 2 teams in the league. As the Northern Adirondack Bobcats fall to 1-11 on the season, they will meet up with the 0-8 Northeastern Clinton Cougars on October 21st. Gallery
Northeastern Clinton Cougars @ Plattsburgh Hornets October 16th 2024
Plattsburgh's Nate Baker (4) shot from a distance and scored. He would have one goal as the Hornets and Cougars would tie at 2. It would be Section VII Boy's Soccer action from the Plattsburgh High Athletic Complex as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Northeastern Clinton Cougars as the teams start to focus on the playoffs and a conference title. The home Hornets would waste little time getting the game's opening goal in the 9th minute from Nate Baker for the 1-0 lead. The Cougars would come fighting back and tie the game in the 17th minute on the Evais Carpenter goal to make it a 1-1 game. Then the Hornets would find a way to answer that and regain the 1-goal lead at 2-1 on the Nate Lambert goal. However, the Cougars would not let that lead stand as they would answer right back 2 minutes later in the 28th minute on the Kaze Carpenter goal to tie the game at 2. From there, the defenses and the goalkeepers would stand tall as there would be no more scoring through the regulation and the two overtimes, and the game would end in a 2-2 tie. The Hornets will go to 8-2-2 on the season as they head into their next game Friday at home against the Ausable Valley Patriots. As for the Northeastern Clinton Cougars, they will go to 8-1-4 in the season and take on the Saranac Spartans on Friday as they fight for their conference title. Gallery
