It would be regional finals day from the Clinton Community College with a ticket to the final four on the line, starting with the Class D Girls. It would see the #6 Chateaugay Bulldogs from Section X taking on the # 9 Schroon Lake Wildcats from Section VII. The game would start quickly, but it would be good for the visiting Bulldogs as they would jump out to an 11-lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Bulldogs would use their quick shooting to jump on, take control of the game with a 16-5 quarter, and take the 33-16 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Bulldogs would keep up their tight defense, have another good quarter at 10-5, and take the 43-21 lead into the final quarter. With the outcome of the game well out of doubt, the coaches would put the benches in for the fourth quarter, and the Bulldogs would win the low-scoring quarter at 6-3 as they would secure the 49-24 victory. In the winning effort for the Chateaugay Bulldogs, they will punch their ticket to the final four and get the winner of LaFragville and South Knighton at Hudson Valley Community College. After over a 15 year hituas it would be the return of the Section VII Champions and on the first night it would be the girl's taking center stage and the second game of the day would see a battle inside the top 15 as it would be the #11 Saranac Spartans from Class B taking on #12 Peru Nighthawks from Class A. The Spartans would start by taking control of the game in the first quarter as they would have a 13-5 lead on the Nighthawks after the first eight minutes. The second quarter would be more evenly matched as the Nighthawks would win slightly with a 14-13 quarter, but the Spartans would have the 26-19 lead at the break. When the teams returned for the second half, the Spartans found their groove again, had a 12-8 quarter, and took the 38-27 lead into the final stanza. In the fourth and final quarter, the Spartans would put the closing marks on the game with a 12-7 quarter and secure the 50-34 victory. In the winning effort for the Spartans, Breanna Ducatte would lead the way with 18 points as they go to 16-3 on the season, enter the New York State tournament, and play the Section II champion on March 12th. It would be the opening game of the Girls' Section VII Champions Challenge, and it would see the #9 Moriah Vikings from Class C take on the #11 Schroon Lake Wildcats from Class D at the Cinton Community College gym. The game would start very evenly matched with a 14-13 lead for the Schroon Lake Wildcats. When the second quarter rolled around, the Vikings took control of the game with a great showing on a 15-4 quarter and took the 28-18 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Wildcats would be able to get their game back again, but the Vikings' offense would stay hot as well, and the Vikings would win the quarter 16-14 and take the 44-32 lead into the fourth quarter. The fourth quarter would be another tight one, as defense would be the name of the game. The Vikings would win the quarter 8-7 and secure the 52-39 win. We would have the second game of the day on championship Saturday from the Clinton Community College gym as part of Section VII Championship Saturday. It would feature the #2 Schroon Lake Wildcats and the #4 Chazy Eagles for the Class D title, and after the first quarter, we would have nothing decided as the game would be deadlocked at 13. However, in the second quarter, the Wildcats would start to pull away as they would have a 13-7 quarter and take the 26-20 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, it would stay tight as the Wildcats would edge out the quarter at 12-10 and take the 38-30 lead into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Wildcats could seal the game away as they would go on a 13-3 run to secure the 51-33 victory and win the Class D title. The Saranac Spartans are crowned the 2025 Section VII Class B Champions with a 49-29 victory over the Northeastern Clinton Cougars. It would be the final game of the opening day of the Section VII Basketball Championship weekend; It would see the #1 Saranac Spartans and the #2 Northeastern Clinton Cougars tipping off for the Class B Girls' Championship. It would be a low-scoring game to get it underway, and see the Cougars have the 9-7 lead after the first eight minutes. However, in the second quarter, the Spartans would come alive and start to take control of the game with a 13-5 quarter and have a 20-14 lead as they went into the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half, the Spartans started to take control of the game with a 16-6 quarter and had a 36-20 lead as they went to the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Spartans would put the game away with a 13-9 quarter and secure a 49-29 victory. The Moriah Vikings are crowned the 2025 Section VII Class C Champions as they defeat the Ticonderoga Sentinels 45-37. It would be the second game of the opening day of Section VII Basketball championship weekend; It would see a battle between the top 2 seeds in Class C Girls Basketball as we would have the #1 Moriah Vikings and the #2 Ticonderoga Sentinels. The upset-minded Sentinels would have the lead early by the slim 10-9 margin after the first quarter. When the second quarter came around, the Vikings would go on a run, have a 13-2 quarter, and take the 22-15 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Vikings would keep their hor roll going as they double up the Sentinels with an 11-6 quarter and take the 33-21 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Sentinels would do their best to try and get back in the game with a 16-12 quarter, but it would not be enough as the Vikings would get the 45-37 victory. In the winning effort for the Moriah Vikings, Emily Nephew would lead the way with 11 points as they go to 17-4 on the season and advance to the New York State Class C Girls' Basketball Tournament. The Peru Nighthawks are crowned the 2025 Section VII Class A Champions with a 52-38 victory over the Beekmantown Eagles. It would be the start of Section VII Championship weekend from the Clinton Community College, and it would start with the Class A Girls' Championship and see #1 Peru Nighthawks and the #2 Beekmantown Eagles. It would be a close game at the start as the Nighhthawks would have the 10-7 lead after the first quarter. The game would still be tight in the second quarter as it would be an 11-8 quarter for the Nighthawks, and they would take the 21-15 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, they would still be tight, but the Nighthawks would have the slight edge at 14-12 and take the 35-27 lead into the final quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Nighhawks would have their best quarter of the night as they would have a 17-11 quarter to secure the 52-38 victory. In the wining effort for the Nighthawks, they will advance to the New York State Class A Tournament and take on the winner of Section 2 as Reese Duprey would lead theway with 24 points. It would be a battle inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the #14 Moriah Vikings would travel up to Plattsburgh and take on the Hornets in a late-season tilt. The game would start well for the Vikings as their defense would be up to the task, and they would jump out to a 14-5 lead after the first quarter. It would be more of the same in the second quarter as they would hold the Hornets to nine points while getting another 15 for themselves to take the 29-14 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Hornets would regroup themselves, come out on fire, and take the third 12-7 to tighten up the game at 36-26 as they entered the fourth quarter. It would be the tightest of them all in the fourth quarter as the Hornets would get the quarter 12-10, although the Vikings would hold on for the 46-38 victory. In the winning effort for the Vikings, they would go to 15-4 on the season as they head into their final regular season game next Tuesday against the Northern Adirondack Bobcats. We would have Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls's Basketball action from the Plattsburgh High School as the Hornets would host their neighbors in their annual rivalry game against the Beekmantown Eagles. The Eagles would come out flying in the first, doubling up the Hornets with a 13-7 quarter. In the second quarter, the Eagle's defense would be top-notch for the eight minutes as they would hold the Hornets off the scoreboard with a 13-0 quarter and take a convincing lead of 26-7 lead at the end of the first half. When the teams return for the third, it would be a bit more of a competitive quarter, but the Eagles would still be on top with a 14-9 quarter and take the 40-16 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles would empty the bench and score high on both ends, but the Hornets would only win the quarter by one at 16-15 as the Eagles would get the 55-38 victory.
