Chateaugay's Irelynn Laplante (12) takes flight on the breakaway score for two of her 16 points on the afternoon. It would be regional finals day from the Clinton Community College with a ticket to the final four on the line, starting with the Class D Girls. It would see the #6 Chateaugay Bulldogs from Section X taking on the # 9 Schroon Lake Wildcats from Section VII. The game would start quickly, but it would be good for the visiting Bulldogs as they would jump out to an 11-lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Bulldogs would use their quick shooting to jump on, take control of the game with a 16-5 quarter, and take the 33-16 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Bulldogs would keep up their tight defense, have another good quarter at 10-5, and take the 43-21 lead into the final quarter. With the outcome of the game well out of doubt, the coaches would put the benches in for the fourth quarter, and the Bulldogs would win the low-scoring quarter at 6-3 as they would secure the 49-24 victory. In the winning effort for the Chateaugay Bulldogs, they will punch their ticket to the final four and get the winner of LaFragville and South Knighton at Hudson Valley Community College. In the win for the Bulldogs, Madison McComb and Irelynn Laplante each had 16 points as they went to 24-1 in the season. As for the Schroon Lake Wildcats' season, it would end at 14-8, while Olivia Hartwell would lead the team with 13 points. Gallery

Saranac's Gabe Moore (3) with the snip from the slot to tie the game at one in the first period. It would be a rare regular-season meeting between a pair of top-ten-ranked teams in the state as the #10 Saranac Spartans would host the #3 and undefeated Ogdensburg Blue Devils from the American North Sports Center. The visiting #3 Blue Devils would waste little time getting the game's opening goal at the 3:45 mark of the first period when Tegan Frederick would light the lamp for the 1-0 lead. The Spartans would come firing back and tie the game at 7:17 of the period when Gabe Moore would snip the wrister to tie the game at one, which would be the only scoring of the period. The game would stay there till the 9:03 mark of the second period when Nate Irvine would find the back of the net and give the Blue Devils the 2-1 lead, and that's how the second period would end. Then, in the third period, the Blue Devils would extend their lead to 3-1 on Nate Irvine's second goal at 2:30. The Spartans returned 90 seconds later and made it a one-goal game again on the Ryan Campbell goal and made it 3-2. Although the one-goal game would be short-lived as just over a minute later, the Blue Devils would make it a two-goal game again when Rocco Testani would score and make it 4-2. From there, the Blue Devils' defense would finish off the Spartans and add an empty netter late in the game from Laughlin O'Donnell as they secured the 5-2 victory. In the winning effort, the Blue Devils would stay perfect on the season at 13-0 as Ty Jacobs would make 26 saves on the afternoon, and they will be back in action Tuesday as they take on the St. Lawerence Larries. As for the Saranac Spartans, Shawn McLane would make 32 saves in a losing effort as they fall to 8-4-1 on the season and will take on the Plattsburgh Hornets Tuesday in the Aimee McLane Memorial game. Beekmantown's Carter Lapier (16) broke up the play on Malone's Parker Russell scoring attempt. The Beekmantown Eagles will be back in action at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena this Friday evening as they leave the section. The host was the Malone Huskies from Section X. The game would start well for the home Eagles as they would get the game's opening goals, which made it a 1-0 game at the 7:14 mark of the first period. The Huskies would keep fighting and get the tying goal at the 11:40 mark of the period on the goal from Parker Russell. Although with just under two minutes left in the period, the Eagles could regain the lead at 2-1 when Parker Pryce would light a lamp, and that's how they would head into the first intermission. When the teams would return for the second period, the Huskies would waste little time tying the game up again, this time from Tristan Russell at the 3:16 mark. The game would stay there till the 14:00 mark of the period. Novak Jarus would get his second goal 3-2 lead at the end of the second period. When we returned for the third, the Huskies would fight and tie the game up again for the third time in the evening, with Jake Kaska's goal at the 3:41 mark of the third period. The Eagle would ming and retake the lead, this time at 4-3, on the Mason Carter goal. And t, and in the closing seconds of the game, Novak Jarus added his third goal on the empty netter to secure the 5-3 win. With the win, the Eagles would go to 8-4-1 on the season. They are back in action tomorrow against Bellows Falls. As for the Malone Huskies, they fall to 8-5 on the season and will be back in action on January 29th with a home contest against the Norwood-Norfolk Iceman. Gallery

It would be the second game of the 2024 edition of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic, and it would be the first appearance of the girls; it would see the Malone Huskies from Section X taking on the Beekmantown Eagles from Section VII, and the Huskies would be looking to stay perfect on the early season. The Huskies would be off to the races as they would break into a 21-8 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Huskies would stay on the gas, expand their lead to 15-6, and take a 36--14 lead into the break. When the teams return for the second half, it will be more of the same as when the Huskies stay hot, have a 17-7 quarter, and take the 53-21 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles would put the bench in there, and the Huskies would be unable to as they only have a bench of 2 players. The Huskies would win the fourth 17-4 and get a convincing 70-25 victory. In the winning effort, the Huskies would stay perfect in the early season, going to 5-0 and taking on the Peru Nighthawks tomorrow. As for the Beekmantown Eagles, they will fall to 3-2 on the season as they head into their game tomorrow against the Saranac Spartans. Gallery

Ogdensburg's Luca LaBella (25) fights his way through the tackles for the extra yards as he would have two scores as the Blue Devils get the 14-10 win. It would be the opening round of the NYSPHSAA Class B Football tournament, and it would feature the #16 Beekmantwn Eags from Section VII taking on the #22 Ogdensburg Blue Devils from Section X from the Plattsburgh High School with the winner getting a spot in the quarterfinals. It will host Section II, Glens Falls. The game would start as a defensive battle with both teams feeling each other out, and there would be no scoring in the opening quarter. The first score of the game would come in the opening minute of the second quarter when the Blue Devils got one board with a 7-yard run by Luca Labella for the 7-0 lead. However, the Eagles would answer right back on their next drive with an 8-yard quarterback keeper as Porter Hunter would score to tie the game up at seven, and that's where they would stay for intermission. The Eagles would take their first lead of the game at 10-7 on a 31-yard field goal from Patrick Hagadorn at the 8:42 mark of the third quarter. The game would stay there till the 3:03 mark of the fourth quarter when Luca LaBella would find the endzone for the second time of the night from 2 yards out for the 14-10 Blue Devils end. The Eagles would have their chance down the stretch to get their lead back, but their effort would come up short, and the Blue Devils would get the 14-10 win. In the winning effort, the Ogdensburg Blue Devils go to 9-1 on the second and will get Glenns Falls next weekend in the quarterfinals from Potdsdam.
