Plattsburgh State's Jacob Hearne (31) stares down the shot as he would make the save as part of a 35 save night. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would finish off the weekend by welcoming the #2 Genesseo State Knights into the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena for a SUNYAC off a successful night the previous night bidding for the upset. The game would start off good for the upset minded Cardinals as they would get the opening goal of the game with 4:15 left in the first period on the Cory Doney goal and the 1-0 lead. Although the lead would short lived as the Knights would tie the game just 52 seconds into the second period on the power play goal from Matthew Doran. The game would stay there all the way til the 4:28 mark of the third period when the Knights take the lead at 2-1 on the Morgan Peter goal. Although the Cardinals would not give up the fight and would get the tying goal with the extra man with just 25 seconds left in the game. The teams would head to the overtime and play three on three and there would be no decider and the game would end in a 2-2 tie. Jacob Hearne would make 35 saves on the night as the Cardinals go to 3-1-2 on the season. The Cardinals will be back in action next weekend as they will host the Fredonia Blue Devils and the Buffalo State Bengals. Gallery

#7 Peru Nighthawks Vs Massena Red Raiders November 12th 2022

The Peru Nighthawks take the 2022 sub regional title and head to the regional finals next weekend for a spot in the final four. It would be the #7 Peru Nighthawks taking on the Massena Red Raiders in the North Country Super Bowl with the winner get #14 Rivenia on November 19th at Beekmantown High School. The game would start off good for the Nighthawks as they would score just three minutes into the game on a 33 yard run by Jack Hanson for the 6-0 lead. The Nighthawks would double there lead to 13-0 halfway through the quarter on a 28 yard pass to Riley Hebert . Then with two minutes left in the quarter the Nighthawks would strike again with a 25 yard pass to Keith Parent and take the 20-0 lead. There would be just one score in the second quarter as Jack Hanson would strike again for his second score on the day this time from nine yards out to take the 27-0 lead into the intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Nighthawks office would stay hot. As they would a 25 yard feild goal to expand there lead to 30-0. Then in the closing minute of the quarter Zach O'Connell would hit Rocky Hebert for a 25 yard score and take the 37-0 lead. Then just four minutes into the fourth quarter the Nighthawks offense stays hot on a 13 yard pass to Keith Parent for his second score of the day and a 44-0 lead. Then with just about five minutes left in the game the Red Raiders would breakup the shutout with a big run play by Deshawn Walton and make it a 44-6. On the insuing defensive stand the Red Raiders would get a safety to make it 44-9 game. Then in the final couple minutes of the game the Red Raiders would get another running touchdown this time from Clifford Gay and make it a 44-16 and that is where the game would end. With the win the Nighthawks advance to the regional finals next weekend against Rivena and keep there undefeated season intact at 10-0 while the Massena Red Raiders season comes to a close at 5-5. Plattsburgh State's Carson Gallager (28) with the poke check at center ice and takes the puck in on the breakaway attempt. It would be the home opener for the Plattsburgh State Cardinals as they would take on the Brockport State Golden Eagles in SUNYAC action. The game would start off well for the Cardinals as they would get on the board just 44 seconds into the game on the goal by Luk Jirousek. The game would stay there til the 9:51 mark of the period when Brendan Young would light the lamp for the 2-0 game. The with 3:27 left in the period jack Ring would score on the rebound with the power play goal to make it 3-0 to end the period. Then as the second period Ryan Hogg would strike would score twice in 27 seconds at the four minute mark to expand the lead to 5-0. Then at the 7:47 mark of the period Bennett Stockdale would tickle the the twine and the Cardinals would take a 6-0 lead. Just 45 seconds later though Jacob Modry would score on the power play and make it 7-0 game. As the game just past the halfway mark of the game Bennett Stockdale would score again and take a 8-0 lead. The Golden Eagles would finally break up the Cardinals rush and shutout as Scott Ramaekers scores to make it 8-1. That where the game would stay til the 5:32 mark of the third when Jack Ring would get his second goal of the game to make it 9-1. Although just 50 seconds later the Golden Eagles would score from Matt Anastasio to make it a 9-2 game. From there the defenses would hold down the rest of the game and the Cardinals would get the 9-2 win. In the winning effort Eli Shiller would make 21 saves on the night as the Cardinals go to 3-1-1 while the Golden Eagles fall to 2-2 on the season. Potsdam State Bears @ #2 Plattsburgh State Cardinals November 11th 2022

Plattsburgh State's Sara Krauseneck (25) battles for the puck behind the net with the Bears defender. It would be home openner for the Plattsburgh State Cardinals on this Veterans Day as they would take on North Country foe the Potsdam State Bears. The game would be very evenly matched through the early stages of the game. As the first two goals of the game would come in the final minute of the second period as Ivy Boric and Sara Krauseneck would score to make it 2-0 Cardinals. Then in the early stages of the third period the Cardinals would strike again from Julia Masotta to make it a 3-0 lead for the Cardinals. The Potsdam Bears would get on the board halfway through the third period on the Kaylee Merrill goal to make it 3-1 game. Then just over a minute later the Cardinals would score again on Julia Masotta second of the game for a 4-1 Cardinals win. In the winning effort Lilla Nease would make 11 saves on the afternoon as they go to 3-0 on the season. Gallery

It would be the season opener for the Plattsburgh State Cardinals as they would take on fellow North Country team in the Clarkson Golden Knights. The game would be tight throughout the first half as the home Cardinals would have a slim 31-29 lead at the end of the half. When the teams came back for the second half the game would remain close as the Cardinals would win the half 45-41 and take the 76-71 victory. In the winning effort Kevin Tabb would lead the way with a 19 point night as they go to 1-0 on the season. Gallery

Clarkson Golden Knights @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals November 8th 2022

Plattsburgh State' Bri Brousseau would lead come in on the breakaway and lay in for two of her game high six points. It would be the opening night of the 2022-23 Plattsburgh State Cardinals Women's Basketball as they would take fellow north country foe the Clarkson Golden Knights. It would start off tight but the Cardinals would have the slim lead after the first quarter with a 15-11 quarter. In the second quarter the game would stay the same with the Cardinals winning the quarter by a 16-14 margin and take a 31-25 lead into the intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Golden Knights would keep up the fight to keep the game close and even cut into the defecit with a 22-18 quarter to 49-47 Cardinals as they head to the last quarter. In that final stanza the game couldn't get any closer as it would be a 12-12 quarter and the Cardinals would hold onto to the 61-59 victory. With the win the Cardinals would get there season started off right as they go to 1-0 and Bri Brousseau would lead the way with a 16 point night as the Golden Knights fall to 0-1 on the season. #1 Moriah Vikings Vs #2 Ticonderoga Sentinels November 5th 2022

The Moriah Vikings continue there streak of Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class D Championships as they are crowned the 2022 winner. It would be the traditional Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class D Championship as the #1 Moriah Vikings would take on the #2 Ticonderoga Sentinels. The Vikings would start off the scoring with a Riley Demarais 8 yard run touchdown run for the 6-0 lead and that is how the first quarter would end. The Vikings would be able to extend there lead to 14-0 on Riley Demarias second score of the game 1:19 into the second quarter on a 44 yard run. Then with just under four minutes left in the half Riley Demarias would get his third score of the half on a six yard run and take a 22-0 lead into the locker room. When the teams returned for the second half the Vikings would let off the pedal and coast it through the rest of the game as Logan Gilbo would get a couple scores in the second half to secure the 38-0 victory. In the winning effort the Moriah Vikings win another Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class D title and advance to the New York State Class D Tournament where they will meet up with the section one winner as they go to 8-1 on the season and the Ticonderoga Sentinels season comes to end at 0-8 Gallery

#1 Peru Nighthawks Vs #2 Beekmantown Eagles November 5th 2022

The Peru Nighthawks are crowned the 2022 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class B champions with a 41-8 victory over the Beekmantown Eagles. It would be the classic rivalry inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class B as the #1 Peru Nighthawks would meet up with the #2 Beekmantown Eagles as they decide who heads to the New York State Class B Football tournament and take on the upset minded Massena Red Raiders, The Nighthawks would get the scoring going in the first quarter with a 9 yard run by Jack Hanson for the 7-0 lead. Later in the quarter the Nighthawks and Jack Hanson would score again this time from 30 yards and take the 14-0 lead. They would end the quarter with there third score of the quarter this time to Keith Parent from 32 yards out and have a 21-0 lead to end the quarter. In the second quarter the Nighthawks would get another score this time a 17 yard pass to Jack Hanson for his third score of the game. When the teams came back from the locker rooms for the third quarter the Nighthawks would stay on the gas and expand there lead to 34-0 on Jack Hanson's four touchdown of the night. In the fourth quarter the Nighthawks would put the final nail in the coffin on the game as Jack Hanson would get his fifth score of the game this time from 3 yards out for the 41-0 lead. In the final minutes of the game the Eagles would get on the board to avoid the shutout on a 12 yard run by Louis Sweenor and they would get the 2 point conversion to make it a 41-8 game. That would end the game and the Peru Nighthawks would be get the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class B 2022 title. With the win the Nighthawks continue there undefeated season at 9-0 while the Beekmantown Eagles season will come to a close at 5-4. Gallery

#1 Saranac Chiefs @ #2 Saranac Lake Red Storm November 4th 2022

The Saranac Chiefs are crowned the 2022 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class C champions. It would be a battle of the Saranac's as the top 2 seeds would meet in the championship of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class with the Satanac Chiefs and Saranac Lake Red Storm as the Red Storm would look to avenge there overtime defeat from earlier in the season. The Chiefs would get the opening score of the game in the final minute of the opening quarter on a six yard pass to Patrick Clancey and they would take the 7-0 lead. In the final minute of the half the Red Storm would score on a 37 yard pick six from Evan Willetts although they would miss the extra point and the Chiefs would hold the 7-6 lead. It wouldn't be long though as the Chiefs would extend there lead to 14-6 on a 41 yard fumble recovery from Bryce Deangleo and that's where the game would stand as they head into the intermission. The Red Storm would keep fighting though and they would answer right back just 1:27 into the third quarter on Markus Navarra 14 yard touchdown pass and make it a 14-12 Chiefs lead. Although just over a minute later the Chiefs would answer back on a 58 yard touchdown run by Landon Duprey and extend the lead to 21-12. That would be where the game would stand till the 2:32 mark of the fourth quarter when Landon Duprey would get his second rushing touchdown of the night this time from six yards out and extend the lead to 29-12. Then in the closing part of the game the Chiefs would seal the game as Dylan Cogswell would recover the fumble and take it to the house for the score and secure the 36-12 victory. With the win the Saranac Chiefs advance to the New York State Class C Football tournament and will take on the Gouverneur Wildcats while the Saranac Lake Red Storm season will come to end at 4-5. It would be the semifinals of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class C Semi-finals as the #2 Saranac Lake Red Storm would host the #3 Ausable Valley Patriots with the winner getting the #1 Saranac Chiefs in the section VII Class C Finals on November 4th. The Red Storm would waste no time in getting the first score of the game just 1:54 into the game on a 12 yard run by Connor Hewitt for the 7-0 lead. The with just 29 seconds left in the quarter the Red Storm would strike again this time with a nine yard run by Landon LaDue and take the 14-0 lead. The Patriots would have an answer in the second quarter in a 8 yard pass to Korvin Dixon 3:39 into the quarter to make it a 14-7 game. Although with just 18 seconds left in the first half the Red Storm would strike again with a six yard pass to Connor Hewitt for his second touchdown of the game and take the 14 point lead at 21-7. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Red Storm would take little time and extending there lead to 28-7 just 1:06 in on a 27 yard run by Connor Hewitt for third score on the day. Then 3:47 into the fourth quarter the Red Storm would put the icing on the cake with a five yard run by Connor Hewitt for his 4th touchdown on the day. In the winning effort the Red Storm go to 4-4 on the season and will play the Saranac Chiefs for the section VII Class C title while the Ausable Valley Patriots season comes to end at 3-6. Gallery
