It would be the second day of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and the opening game would see the Peru Nighthawks taking on the Seton Catholic Knights. The Nighthawks would start the game well and would be doubling up the Knights by the end of the first quarter with a 12-6 lead. In the second quarter, the Knights would keep up the fight and keep it close as the Nighthawks would win the quarter but only 12-8 and take a 24-14 lead into the break. When the teams returned for the third quarter the offense for the Nighthawks would step up and they would start to pull away with a 17-6 quarter take a 41-20 lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Knights would do their best not to let the deficit get any worse as the Nighthawks would have a 14-12 quarter and secure the 55-32 win. In the winning effort, Kobe Harris would lead the way with 14 points as the Nighthawks would get their first win of the season and go to 1-4 on the season while the Knights fell to 1-5. Gallery

Clinton Community College Holiday Classic Boy's Basketball: Boquet Valley Griffins Vs Saranac Spartans December 28th 2023

Boquet Valley's Jackson Hooper (3) with the block from behind on Saranac's Zach Lucia (12) to keep the game tight. It would be the third game of the second day of the Clinton Community College Holiday Tournament and it would see the Boquet Valley Griffins and Saranac Spartans who both got wins yesterday so this game would decide who was the best on the boy's side. It would pit a couple of teams that were evenly matched and the top of the field and would be tied at fourteen after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the teams would still play tight but the Spartans would start to pull away with a 13-9 quarter and take a 27-23 lead into the intermission. In the third quarter, the Spartans would build on their slim lead with an offensive outpour as they would win the quarter 20-11 and take a 47-34 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Griffins would do their best to get back in the game with their best quarter of the day scoring 17 point surge but the Spartans would be able to match them at seventeen and the Spartans would get the 64-51 Spartans win and end Boquet Valley's perfect season. In the winning effort, the Spartans would go to 2-3 while the Griffins fell to 7-1 while Griffins Jackson Hooper would lead all scorers with a game-high 23 points. Gallery

Clinton Community College Holiday Classic: Seton Catholic Knights Vs Saranac Spartans December 27th 2023

Seton Catholic's Aiden Pearl (22) with block of Saranac's Zach Lucia (12) and sends it back where it started. It would be the opening day of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and the third game of the day would feature the Seton Catholic Knights and the Saranac Spartans. It would be tight through the first quarter as the Spartans would have a slim 13-12 lead after the first eight minutes of the game. In the second quarter, the Spartans would find their stride and break the game wide open with a 26-6 quarter and take a 39-18 lead into the intermission break. When the teams returned for that third quarter the teams would be evenly matched as the Spartans would only win the quarter 16-10 and take the 55-28 lead into the fourth quarter. In that quarter the teams would stay evenly matched as the Spartans would win the quarter 10-6. Although with that second quarter that got very lopsided, the Spartans would get the big 65-34 victory. With the win Henry Napper would lead the way as the Spartans get their first win of the season and go to 1-3 on the season while the Seton Catholic Knights fall to 1-5 on the season. Both teams are back in action tomorrow as the Spartans will meet up with the Boquet Valley Griffins and the Seton Catholic Knights will get the Peru Nighthawks. Gallery

It would be the opening game of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and we would feature the Peru Nighthawks and the Boquet Valley Griffins in Boy's Basketball action. The game would start tight as the Griffins would have a slim 16-12 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter though the Griffins would start to pull away with a 13-8 quarter and take a 29-20 lead at the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter the Nighthawks would do their best to stay with the Griffins as the Griffins would win the quarter by a slim 13-10 and take a 42-30 lead into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Griffins would double up the Nighthawks with a 14-7 quarter and secure the 56-37 victory. In the winning effort, Jackson Hooper would lead the way for the Griffins with 17 points as they go to 7-0 and stay undefeated on the season as they will take on the Saranac Spartans on Day 2 of the tournament. NYSPHSAA Class C Boy's Basketball First Round: #8 Chatham Panthers Vs #1 Moriah Vikings March 5th 2023

Moriah's Cooper Allen (13) gets twisted in the air as he goes in for the layup and ends up with the reserve. It would be the opening round of the NYSPHSAA Class C Tournament and would feature the #1 team in the state Moriah Vikings taking on number #8 Chatham Panthers from Clinton Community College. The game would start off well for the top team in the state as the Moriah Vikings would have a 15-9 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the team's high pace would continue as the Panthers would cut into the lead slightly with a 10-9 quarter but the Vikings would still have the 27-19 lead as they enter the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half the tempo and pace would pick up right where it left off as the Panthers would have a 12-10 quarter to cut into the deficit a bit more as the Vikings would have the 37-31 lead as they enter the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter the Panthers would come all the way back and tie the game up at 46 and then with 1.5 seconds on the clock Drew Wemple would hit the jumper for the win. As the Chatham Panthers would pull off the upset of the #1 team in the state with the 50-46 victory and will advance to the quarterfinals and take on the #23 Canton Golden Bears. Gallery

Section VII Class D Boy's Basketball Championship: #2 Crown Point Panthers Vs #1 Schroon Lake Wildcats March 5th 2023

Schroon Lake's Isaiah Pelkey (13) with the finger roll on the lay up for the Wildcats bucket. It would be the last game of the championship Sunday from Clinton Community College as this would be for the Class D Section VII title and we would have the #1 Schroon Lake Wildcats and the #2 Crown Point Panthers. It would be tight through the first quarter but the #2 Crown Point would have the upset in mind as they would have the 16-13 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the game would stay tight as neither team would be able to get on a sustained run but the Wildcats would win the quarter 16-13 and the teams would go into the break tied at 29. When the teams would return for the third quarter the game would stay tight but the Wildcats would get a bit of separation with a 13-9 quarter and take a 42-38 lead into the fourth. In that fourth quarter, the Wildcats would just have too much leave down the stretch for the Panthers as they would win the quarter 17-12 and get the 59-50 victory. With the win, the Schroon Lake Wildcats will advance to the NYSPHSAA Class D Tournament and will face North Warren from Section II for the right to go to the final four at the Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls. Section VII Class C Boy's Basketball Championship: #2 Northern Adirondack Bobcats Vs #1 Moriah Vikings March 5th 2023

Moriah Vikings's Cooper Allen (13) gets up and gets the clean block of Northern Adirondack's Caleb Damour (21) to keep the Bobcats in check. It would be the second game of championship Sunday for Section VII Basketball and this would be in Class C Boy's action as the #1 Moriah Vikings would take on the #2 Northern Adirondack Bobcats. The game would get off to a fast start, which would be good for the Moriah Vikings as they would double up the Bobcats in the first quarter and have a 22-11 lead. In the second quarter, the Vikings would continue to impress as they would pull away with a 14-5 quarter and have a 36-16 lead as they entered the halftime break. When the teams would return for the second half the Vikings would not show any let up as they would 11-10 quarter and take a commanding 47-26 lead into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Vikings would let up and just coast the quarter as the Bobcats would win the quarter at 12-8 although the Vikings would hold on for the 55-38 victory. With the win, the Vikings will advance to the NYSPHSAA Class C Tournament and will play Chatham from Section 2 at Clinton Community College on March 8th with the winner getting Canton for the right to go to Final Four. Section VII Class B Boy's Basketball Finals: #2 Saranac Lake Red Storm Vs #1 Beekmantown Eagles March 3rd 2023

It would be time for the Section VII Class B Boy's Basketball finals from Clinton Community College and it would feature the top two seeds as it would be the Saranac Lake Red Storm and the Beekmantown Eagles. It would be a high-scoring but tight game through the first quarter as the Eagles would have a 16-14 lead. The game would stay tight through the second quarter although the defenses would be on display for the quarter as the Saranac Lake Red Storm would win the quarter 8-6 and tie the game at 22 as the teams would enter halftime. When the teams returned for the third quarter the game would remain tight as the Eagles would win the quarter by a slim 12-11 score and take a 34-33 lead into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Eagles would be just too much for the Red Storm as they would win the 24-17 and secure the 58-50 victory. In the winning effort, the Beekmantown Eagles would be crowned the 2023 Section VII Class B Boy's Basketball champions and will advance to the NYSPHSAA Tournament and take on the Section X representative next week. Plattsburgh's Max Filosca(5) rises high above the rest for the three-pointer from the elbow for the score. It would be the last game of the regular season inside section VII and would be a reschedule from an earlier game in the season due to replacement weather. The game would start off a with high flying pace that would play right into the hands of the Bobcats as they would race out to a 21-14 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the high-flying pace would continue as the Bobcats would jump on a 23-15 quarter and take a 44-29 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter the hot hand for the Bobcats would continue and they would have an 18-12 quarter and take a 62-41 lead into the final quarter. In the fourth quarter, there would be no give in the Bobcats as they would have a 13-11 quarter and secure the 75-52 victory. In the winning effort, the Northern Adirondack Bobcats would finish the regular season at 11-9 and will get the #3 seed in the upcoming Section VII Class C Tournament and will face the Northeastern Clinton Cougars in the semi-finals. While the Plattsburgh Hornets will finish their season at 7-11 will get the #3 seed in the Section VII Class B Tournament and will host the #6 Peru Nighthawks in the first round of the tournament. It would be a matchup inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Ticonrodegoa Sentinels in boy's basketball action. The home Hornets would get off to a buzzing start as they would have a 19-2 lead after just the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Sentinels would start to find their game and they would stay with the Hornets as it would be a 14-10 quarter for the Hornets and have a 33-12 lead as they head into the break. When the teams returned for action, the Hornets would keep their foot on the gas pedal, storm with a 21-12 quarter, and extend their lead to 54-24 as they headed into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Hornets would empty the bench with the outcome of the game, not in doubt and the Sentinels would get the quarter 7-4 although the Hornets would hold on for the 57-31 victory. In the winning effort, the Hornets would go to 5-11 on the season and will be back in action Wednesday as they will host the Northeastern Clinton Cougars while the Ticonderoga Sentinels fall to 2-14 on the season and will look to get back on the winning side Friday as they travel to Saranac Lake. Northeastern Clinton's Stephen Garrow (34) goes up and under the Plattsburgh defender and lays it off the window. It would be a matchup inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Northeastern Clinton Cougars in a rematch of last year's Section VII Class B championship. The game would start off well for the home Hornets as they would come rolling out of the gates and have a 17-9 lead after the opening quarter of the game. In the second quarter, the Hornets would stay hot and were able to extend their lead with a 20-13 quarter to give the Hornets the 37-22 lead at the break. When the teams would return for the second half the Cougars would regroup and find their shot and make it a two-point game at the end of the third quarter at 43-41 Hornets. For the first half of the fourth quarter, the teams would go back and forth, and the game with stay within a couple of points. Then with a little under five minutes left in the game there would a scramble for the ball under the basket and the Cougars would get called for a technical foul from there the game would fall apart for the Cougars and the Hornets would pull away with an eleven point win at 66-55. In the winning effort, the Hornets would go to 6-11 on the season while the Cougars will fall to 11-7 as both teams start looking at the playoff stretch. Gallery

It would be a matchup inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Saranac Lake Red Storm. It would be a tight game throughout the first quarter and the Hornets would have a slim 13-12 after the first. In the second quarter, the game would still be a see-saw affair but the Hornets would win the quarter slightly at 16-12 and take the 29-24 lead into the halftime break. When the teams would return for the third the Red Storm would make the adjustments and come out rolling and win the quarter 18-12 and take the slim one-point lead into the fourth quarter at 42-41. In that fourth quarter, the Red Storm would stay hot and pull away with a 19-12 quarter to secure the 61-53 victory. In the winning effort, the Red Storm go to 10-7 on the season and will next travel to Northern Adirondack Bobcats next week as the season starts to come to a close. In that fourth quarter, the teams would be very evenly matched and the Knights would get the slim quarter win at 10-9 and secure the 48-40 win for the Knights. In the winning effort, the Knights go to 4-10 on the season and their next matchup will be with the Peru Knighthawks while the Lake Placid Blue Bombers will fall to 4-10 and take on Newcomb next. It would be a matchup inside the mountain valley athletic conference as the Seton Catholic Knights would be hosting the Schroon Lake Wildcats and the home Knights would be looking to ride their mid-season surge but they would have to do it against the top team in the conference. The game would not start off well for the home Knights as the Wildcats would get off to a quick start and have a 14-7 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the teams would be more equal but the Wildcats would still have the edge with an 11-8 quarter and take a 25-15 lead into the locker room. When the teams returned for the second half the offenses on both sides would keep their game going all although the Wildcats would have a 14-13 quarter and take a 39-28 into the 3rd quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Wildcats would start to walk away with the game as the leader for Knights Aidan Pearl would get hurt and the Wildcats would have an 18-4 quarter to secure the 57-32 victory. In the winning effort the Wildcats go to 8-1 on the season and will play Fort Edwards next will the Knights fall to 4-7 and will wait for the Boquet Valley Griffins to right the ship righted. It would be the classic rivalry inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Peru Nighthawks in Boy's Basketball action. Both teams were looking for their first win of the season inside the conference didn't make the competition any less exciting. It would start off great for the home Hornets as their offense was firing on all cylinders and would have a 24-10 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the teams would be more equal although the Hornets would still be able to extend their lead with a 13-9 quarter and take a 37-19 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half the offense for the Hornets would stay hot as they would have a 19-11 quarter and take the commanding lead into the 4th quarter at 56-30. In the fourth quarter, the Hornets would take their foot off the gas as they would finish out the game with an 11-9 quarter for the Nighthawks but the Hornets would have a comfortable lead and get the 65-41 victory. It would be a matchup inside the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference as the Seton Catholic Knights would host the Willsboro Warriors in boy's basketball action. The game would start off well for the home Knights as they would jump out to a double-digit lead after the first quarter with a 16-6 lead. In the second quarter, the Warriors would come steaming back with a run of their own to make a game of it for the second half with a 16-9 quarter but would still trail 27-22 as they went into halftime. When the teams returned for the second half the third quarter would be a tight one as the physical style of the game would start to pick up and the Knights would win the quarter 12-10 and take a 39-32 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Knights would find they're reshot and blow the game open with a 16-6 quarter and secure the 55-38 victory. In the winning effort, the Knights go to 4-6 on the season and will play the Schroon Lake Wildcats on January 19th while the Willsboro Warriors fall to 1-8 on the season. Gallery
