It would be the #3 Plattsburgh State Cardinals hosting the Buffalo State Bengals in the Northeast Women's Hockey League at the Stafford Ice Arena. The game would start off good for the home Cardinals as they would get off to the quick 1-0 lead on a goal from Nicole Unsworth at the 2:12 mark of the first period. Then at the 8:36 mark of the period the Cardinals would extend there lead to 2-0 on the Ivy Boric goal. Then to finish off the scoring in the opening period Julia Masotta would light the lamp at the 15:34 mark on the powerplay to take a 3-0 to end the first period. To start the second period Ivy Boric would get her second goal of the game just 1:31 into the period for the 4-0 lead. Then at the 7:13 mark of the second period Clara Wall would score on the powerplay for the 5-0 lead. From there defense would be the name of the game as the Cardinals would get the 5-0 victory as they go to 6-0 on the season as the Bengals fall to 0-5. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Paul Bryer (25) with the hard hit from behind on the Fredonia staker that sends him into the boards. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would contuine there homestand as they would host the Fredonia State Blue Devils in SUNYAC play. The Cardinals would get the opening goal of the game at the 7:14 mark of the first period when Jake Lanyi would find the back of the night for the 1-0 lead. That would be where the game would stay all the way til the 3:14 mark of the third period when Adam Tretowicz would find the net on a breakaway for the shorthanded goal and the 2-0 Cardinals lead. Then the Cardinals would add a third goal at the 12:09 mark of the period from Josh Belgrave for the 3-0 lead and that is where the game would finish. In the winning effort Eli Shiller would make 23 saves as they go to 4-1-2. They will be back in action tomorrow (November 19th) as they finish off the homestand against the Buffalo State Bengals on poster night at the Stafford Ice Arena. Gallery

St. Lawerence Saints @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals NCAA Men's Basketball November 16th 2022

Plattsburgh State's Matthew Kone-Bradshaw (11) cuts across the lane gets over the defender for the shot on net. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would be back in action tonight against fellow north country foe as they would take on the St. Lawrence Saints. The game would not start off the greatest though for the home Cardinals as they would be playing catch up with the Saints throughout the half and the Saints would have a 41-33 lead after the first half. When the teams would come back for the second half the Cardinals would try the best to keep the game close as it would be under a five point deficit a few times in the half but that would be closet they could get as the Saints would win the half 36-32 and hold on for the 77-65 win. Although the Cardinals would lose Kevin Tabb would lead all scores with 22 points as the Cardinals fall to 1-2 while the Saints would get there season started with a win. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Bri Brousseau (40) with the runner down the lane to get the shot off. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would be back in action tonight against north country foe the St. Lawrence Saints in non conference action at memorial hall on the suny plattsburgh campus. The game would start off good for the home Cardinals as they would be doubling up the Saints at the end of the first quarter with a 16-8 lead. Then in the second quarter the Saints would come charging back with a 19-10 quarter and have a slim 27-26 lead at the intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Cardinals would find there shoot again with a 16-12 quarter and take the 42-39 lead into the final quarter. In the final quarter the Saints would find there shoot and have a slightly better quarter at 21-16 which would give the Saints the 60-58 win. In the losing effort a pair of Cardinals would lead all scores with fourteen points for Mya Smith and Hannah Ruberto as they go to 2-2 on the season. Gallery

#9 Norwich Cadets @ #3 Plattsburgh State Cardinals NCAA Women's Hockey November 15th 2022

Plattsburgh State's Julia Masotta with the game winner with 1:37 left in the overtime on the 3x3. It would be the classic women's hockey rivalry as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Norwich Cadets this time the would be added stakes as they were both ranked in the top ten in the early stages of the season. The Cadets of Norwich would get the scoring started with 8 minutes left in the first period on the Morgan Tefft goal and the 1-0 lead. That is where the game would stay til the 1:49 mark of the second period when the Cardinals Mae Olshansky foal. Then just about 90 seconds life in thee period on the Nicole Unsworth goal in the second period and the 2-1 lead. That is where the game would stay until we hit the 9:12 mark of the second period when the Cadets would tie the game on the Taylor Girouard goal. That is where the game would stay til there was 2:53 left in the game when Sara Krauseneck when the Cardinals would take the 3-2. Then the Cadets would strike for two goals in 28 seconds when Nikki LaGue and Taylor Girouard goals and take a 4-3 lead with two minutes left in the game. Although while the Cardinals were on the penalty kill they pulled the goal and with 19 seconds left Mattie Norton would score and tie the game at four. In that overtime frame Plattsburgh from Norwich Cadet would get the game winner with just over 90 seconds in the game. In the wining effort the Cardinals would take the 5-4 win. In the winning effort the Cardinals go to 5-0 while the Golden Knights fall to 5-4 and send the just over 350 fans next weekend for the Cardinals is a homestand as they Buffalo State and Morrisville Mustangs. NYSPHSAA Football Class B 1st Round: #7 Peru Nighthawks Vs Massena Red Raiders November 12th 2022

Peru's Riley Hebert (8) steps in front on the screen pass for the interception in the backfield. It would be the #7 Peru Nighthawks taking on the Massena Red Raiders in the North Country Super Bowl with the winner get #14 Rivenia on November 19th at Beekmantown High School. The game would start off good for the Nighthawks as they would score just three minutes into the game on a 33 yard run by Jack Hanson for the 6-0 lead. The Nighthawks would double there lead to 13-0 halfway through the quarter on a 28 yard pass to Riley Hebert . Then with two minutes left in the quarter the Nighthawks would strike again with a 25 yard pass to Keith Parent and take the 20-0 lead. There would be just one score in the second quarter as Jack Hanson would strike again for his second score on the day this time from nine yards out to take the 27-0 lead into the intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Nighthawks office would stay hot. As they would a 25 yard feild goal to expand there lead to 30-0. Then in the closing minute of the quarter Zach O'Connell would hit Rocky Hebert for a 25 yard score and take the 37-0 lead. Then just four minutes into the fourth quarter the Nighthawks offense stays hot on a 13 yard pass to Keith Parent for his second score of the day and a 44-0 lead. Then with just about five minutes left in the game the Red Raiders would breakup the shutout with a big run play by Deshawn Walton and make it a 44-6. On the insuing defensive stand the Red Raiders would get a safety to make it 44-9 game. Then in the final couple minutes of the game the Red Raiders would get another running touchdown this time from Clifford Gay and make it a 44-16 and that is where the game would end. With the win the Nighthawks advance to the regional finals next weekend against Rivena and keep there undefeated season intact at 10-0 while the Massena Red Raiders season comes to a close at 5-5. SUNYAC Men's Hockey #3 Genesseo State Knights @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals November 12th 2022

Plattsburgh State's Bennett Stockdale (15) comes in on the penalty shot attempt during overtime looking to send the home crowd home happy with the win. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would finish off the weekend by welcoming the #2 Genesseo State Knights into the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena for a SUNYAC off a successful night the previous night bidding for the upset. The game would start off good for the upset minded Cardinals as they would get the opening goal of the game with 4:15 left in the first period on the Cory Doney goal and the 1-0 lead. Although the lead would short lived as the Knights would tie the game just 52 seconds into the second period on the power play goal from Matthew Doran. The game would stay there all the way til the 4:28 mark of the third period when the Knights take the lead at 2-1 on the Morgan Peter goal. Although the Cardinals would not give up the fight and would get the tying goal with the extra man with just 25 seconds left in the game. The teams would head to the overtime and play three on three and there would be no decider and the game would end in a 2-2 tie. Jacob Hearne would make 35 saves on the night as the Cardinals go to 3-1-2 on the season. The Cardinals will be back in action next weekend as they will host the Fredonia Blue Devils and the Buffalo State Bengals. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Jack Ring (22) with the revound goal in front of the net as part of a two goal game as the Cardinals get the 9-2 win. It would be the home opener for the Plattsburgh State Cardinals as they would take on the Brockport State Golden Eagles in SUNYAC action. The game would start off well for the Cardinals as they would get on the board just 44 seconds into the game on the goal by Luk Jirousek. The game would stay there til the 9:51 mark of the period when Brendan Young would light the lamp for the 2-0 game. The with 3:27 left in the period jack Ring would score on the rebound with the powerplay goal to make it 3-0 to end the period. Then as the second period Ryan Hogg would strike would score twice in 27 seconds at the four minute mark to expand the lead to 5-0. Then at the 7:47 mark of the period Bennett Stockdale would tickle the the twine and the Cardinals would take a 6-0 lead. Just 45 seconds later though Jacob Modry would score on the power play and make it 7-0 game. As the game just past the halfway mark of the game Bennett Stockdale would score again and take a 8-0 lead. The Golden Eagles would finally break up the Cardinals rush and shutout as Scott Ramaekers scores to make it 8-1. Thats where the game would stay til the 5:32 mark of the third when Jack Ring would get his second goal of the game to make it 9-1. Although just 50 seconds later the Golden Eagles would score from Matt Anastasio to make it a 9-2 game. From there the defenses would hold down the rest of the game and the Cardinals would get the 9-2 win. In the winning effort Eli Shiller would make 21 saves on the night as the Cardinals go to 3-1-1 while the Golden Eagles fall to 2-2 on the season. Plattsburgh State's Lilla Nease (31) with the body save in traffic as part of an 11 save night for the win. It would be home openner for the Plattsburgh State Cardinals on this Veterans Day as they would take on North Country foe the Potsdam State Bears. The game would be very evenly matched through the early stages of the game. As the first two goals of the game would come in the final minute of the second period as Ivy Boric and Sara Krauseneck would score to make it 2-0 Cardinals. Then in the early stages of the third period the Cardinals would strike again from Julia Masotta to make it a 3-0 lead for the Cardinals. The Potsdam Bears would get on the board halfway through the third period on the Kaylee Merrill goal to make it 3-1 game. Then just over a minute later the Cardinals would score again on Julia Masotta second of the game for a 4-1 Cardinals win. In the winning effort Lilla Nease would make 11 saves on the afternoon as they go to 3-0 on the season. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Brinley Inglee (14) with the runner across the lane that she throws off the window. It would be the opening night of the 2022-23 Plattsburgh State Cardinals Women's Basketball as they would take fellow north country foe the Clarkson Golden Knights. It would start off tight but the Cardinals would have the slim lead after the first quarter with a 15-11 quarter. In the second quarter the game would stay the same with the Cardinals winning the quarter by a 16-14 margin and take a 31-25 lead into the intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Golden Knights would keep up the fight to keep the game close and even cut into the defecit with a 22-18 quarter to 49-47 Cardinals as they head to the last quarter. In that final stanza the game couldn't get any closer as it would be a 12-12 quarter and the Cardinals would hold onto to the 61-59 victory. With the win the Cardinals would get there season started off right as they go to 1-0 and Bri Brousseau would lead the way with a 16 point night as the Golden Knights fall to 0-1 on the season.
