The Lyon Mountain Miners would meet the Fourth Ward Athletics in the deciding game three of the semi-finals today at Lefty Wilson Field in Plattsburgh. The Miners would rake control early and not look back as they would get one in the first. Then come back with three more in the second inning. With the quick 4-0 lead, they would cruise through the rest of the game for the easy 7-1 victory and advance to the championship next weekend. In the winning effort, Dave Waldron would go the distance giving up one run while striking out five. Gallery

Champlain Valley Baseball League Semi-Finals Meron's Expos @ Fourth Ward Cardinals July 28 2013

Meron's Cliff Connors (8) nabs the ball behind second base and fired to first for the out. The Fourth Ward Cardinals would host the Meron's Expos in the deciding game of the series for the right to go the finals. The game would start of close as the teams would trade runs in the first to have a 1-1 game. From there on out the Cardinals would pour it on as the Expos just seemed to have an off day. The Cardinals would break the game open in the second with six runs for the 7-1 lead and from there they would cruise to the 14-3 win. With the win, the Cardinals advance to the Championship where they will take on the defending champion Lyon Mountain Miners in the best of three series. Gallery

Peabody's Matt Hart (15) with the pick at third down the line and fires across to complete the out. he Peabody Padres would travel to Lyon Mountain and have a doubleheader with the Miners to finish off the regular season of the CVBL season. The first game would go the way of the Miners as they would get the 4-0 win. The runs would come in the first and fifth as they would get two runs in each inning. In the winning effort for the Miners, Dave Waldron would go the distance to get the shutout victory while giving up just four hits. In the second game, it would be called after the fourth inning with the score tied at zero. The game will not be resumed as it makes no difference in the standings. With the playoffs starting next week the Miners will get a first-round bye with the regular-season title. The Padres will take on the A's in the 4/5 game in Plattsburgh. Gallery

Champlain Valley Baseball League Peabody Padres Vs Meron Expos June 30 2013

Peabody's Chris Markwicka (7) drops to a knee on the grounder fields it and fires to first for the out. After three weeks off because of ran outs the Peabody Padres would get back in action against Meron Expos in doubleheader action in Saranac. The Expos would take the 1-0 lead right off in the first. The Padres would tie the game up in the third on an RBI single by Eric Bell. The Padres would take the lead in the fourth on Shane Perrotte's 2 RBI single to make it 3-1. The Padres would extend the lead to 4-1 on Kalob Drollette RBI base hit in the 5th inning. In the sixth, the Expos would erase the lead by getting three runs and tie the game at 4. Then the Expos would win it in the seventh with one run to get the 5-4 win. In the lose Matt Rivers would go the distance striking out six while giving up 8 hits. As the teams would return for game two the Expos would get one in first while the Padres would get two for the 2-1 lead. After that, it would be all Expos as they would score nine unanswered runs for the 11-2 victory giving the Expos the sweep on the day. With the sweep, the Expos go to 7-5 while the Padres fall to 5-8. Gallery

American Legion Baseball Malone Post 219 Vs Adams Glass June 13 2013

Malone's Adam Martin (3) slides in safe at third base as he advances on the passed ball. The Malone Post 219 host Adams Glass in non-league at the Airport Field. Adams would take the early 1-0 lead in the first on a passed ball. Adams would extend the lead to 2-0 on a base hit in the second. That is where the score would remain until the fourth when Malone would get a run to make it 2-1. Then in the fifth inning, the Malone would take the lead and pull ahead with a six-run inning thanks in part to a three-run homer by Alex Johnson to make it 7-2. Adam's would try and get back into in the sixth as they would cut the lead in half by getting two to make it 7-4. Malone would get one at the bottom of the inning to secure the 8-4 win. With the win, Malone Post 219 goes to 2-0 on the season. Gallery

Peabody's Matt Rivers (88) drops in the curveball for the strike as part of his shutout victory in game one. The Peabody Padres would host the Plattsburgh Cardinals in Saranac during week five the Champlain Valley Baseball League. The first game would be great pitchers duel at the Padres would get 1-0 win. The Padres would get a there lone run in the fourth inning on an RBI single from Zack Myers. In the winning effort, Matt Rivers would pitch the complete-game shutout giving up just five hits while striking out four. For the lack of runs in game one game, two would make up for it. The Padres would take the 1-0 lead in first on Mark Eggleston RBI double. The Cardinals would take the lead in the second with two runs to make it 2-1. The Cardinals would extend the lead to 4-1 in the fifth to runs. The Cardinals would at two more in the top of the 5th to make it 6-1 before the Padres would start to answer back with three runs on RBI singles from Andrew Petro and Matt Rivers to make it 6-4. Although the Cardinals would answer back in the seventh with four runs to make it 10-4. At the bottom of the inning, the Cardinals would do there best to get back in but fall short as Mark Eggleston would have an RBI double and Matt Hart RBI single to end the game at 10-6 Cardinals. So with the two teams splitting the doubleheader, the Padres go to 3-5 while the Cardinals go to 5-5. Gallery

The Beekmantown Eagles would host the Schlamont Sabres in the opening round of the New York State Class B Playoffs. The game would be pitching duel through the first four innings with only four hits combined by the teams. The Eagles would actually strike first to take a 1-0 lead. Then at the top of the 5th, the Sabres bats would come alive and the Eagles defense would fall to execute some plays and the Sabres would strike for 6 runs and have a 6-1 lead. The Eagles would try there best to get back in the game in the bottom of the inning as they would score two to make it 6-3. Then in the seventh inning, the Sabres would put the final touches of the game as they would score four more runs and secure the 10-3 victory. With the defeat, the Eagles season would come to an end as they finish the season with a record of 18-4. Gallery

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class B Baseball Championship #1 Beekmantown Eagles Vs #2 Peru Indians May 30th 2013

The Beekmantown Eagles and Peru Indians would face off for the Section VII Class B title at Chip Cummings Field for the right to go the state playoffs. The Indians would take the 1-0 lead in first to get everything started. The Indians would extend it to 3-0 in third. Then in the bottom of the third, the Eagles would get right back in the game and tie it at three with three runs of there own. The Indians would regain the lead at 4-3 in the fifth. Although the relentless Eagles would tie it back up in the 6th to make it 4-4. Then the big drama would come in the bottom of the seventh when Zack Myers would get the game-winning walk-off single that would score Brandon Rabideau to give the Eagles the 5-4 win and Section VII Title. Getting the win on the mound for the Eagles would be Brandon Rabideau. With the win, the Beekmantown Eagles now head to state play where they play Schalmont on June 3rd at Chip Cummings Field. The #1 Beekmantown Eagles hosted #4 Northeastern Clinton Cougars in Section 7 Semi-Final action. The Cougars would out to the quick 1-0 lead after the first. That is where the score would remain until the third when the Eagles would bounce back with three runs to take a 3-1 lead. The Cougars would come right back in the fourth and score two runs to tie the game at 3. Then om fifth the Eagles would take back the lead at 4-3. Then in the sixth, they would add an insurance run to secure the 5-3 win. Getting the win for the Eagles would be Austin Bradish as he struck out three and gave up four hits three walks and three runs. With the win, the Eagles advance to the finals against the Peru Indians at Chip Cummings Field on May 30th. Gallery

The Peabody's Padres would take on the Meron's Expos in Week 3 of the Champlain Valley Baseball League. In-game one the Expos would take the 1-0 lead in the first inning. The game would stay there till the fourth when the Expos would add four more runs to extend the lead to 5-0. The Expos would get two more in the fifth to secure the 7-0 victory. Getting the win for the Expos Billy Davis would pitch the shutout giving up just four hits and striking out two. As the teams would return for the second game the Padres would take the quick 1-0 lead on Jeff Norton's RBI double. The score would stay way until the third when the Padres would get three runs thanks to Matthew Hart's two-RBI single and Brady Burleigh's RBI single to make it 4-0. The Expos would do there best to get back in as they cut the lead in half with two runs in the fourth couldn't get any closer though. As the Padres would get the 4-2 win to earn the split on the day. In the win for game two, Frank Brogna would go four innings strike out one give up two runs on three hits. With the splits, the Padres go to 2-4 on the season. Gallery

The Beekmantown Eagles would host the Saranac Lake Red Storm on Senior Day in a CVAC Division 1 clash. The Red Storm were looking to spoil the seniors last game as they jump out to the 1-0 lead after the first inning. That is where the game would remain until the third inning when the Eagles would get two to take the 2-1 lead. Then in the fourth inning, the Eagles would start to take command as they would score times to take the comfortable 7-2 lead as the Red Storm would get one at the top of the inning. The teams would trade runs in the fifth to make the score 8-3. Then in the sixth, the Eagles would add one more to end the scoring and secure the 9-3 victory. Austin Bradish would go five innings strike of two and give up four hits in the winning effort. Talking to Coach Bell after the game he would like to thank all the seniors for years of commitment to the program and wish them the best of luck in the future. Then in the fifth, the Eagles would explode with eleven runs thanks to some untimely errors by the Chiefs. The two big blows in the inning would be from Quenton Barber and Brandon Buska each having 2 RBI singles. That would end it as the Eagles would end up getting the easy 13-0 win. The Bulldogs would do there best to try and manage a rally as they would get four runs on the day but it would not be enough as they fall to the Panthers 20-4. Plattsburgh State's Mike Vargus (17) put the tag on the Lakers base runner looking to steal second base. As for the game the Cardinals would host the Oswego State Lakers in SUNYAC Doubleheader action. The first game would be scheduled for seven innings but they would decide to play ten instead. Where the Lakers would get the 4-0 win as the Cardinals would have some costly errors in the tenth. In turn that would ruin a great game on the mound for Brian Burns where he went the distance giving up 1 earned run and 10 hits while striking out 5. In the second game would get more scoring out the teams. The game would remain scoreless until the bottom of the fourth when Mark Chavez would have a Scarface fly to make it 1-0 Cardinals. Although the lead would be short-lived as the Lakers would answer back in the top of the fifth with three runs to make it 3-1 Lakers. The Cardinals would get closer in the bottom of 6th on Brian Latullipe's fielders choice to make it 3-2 Lakers. The Lakers would secure the win with single runs in the seventh and ninth to get the 5-2 win. With losing the Cardinals fall to 11-23 on the season. The Cardinals will look to finish the season a good note as the host the Castleton State Spartans on Sunday. Gallery

The Huskies would get four runs in the opening inning thanks to three walks from the Blue Devils. The score would stay there till the third when the Huskies would get four more runs thanks to walks again to make it 8-0. The Blue Devils would get on the broad in the fourth to make it 8-1. The Blue Devils continue there comeback with two more in the 5th to make it 8-3. Then in the sixth, the Blue Devils would get even closer and make it tight down the stretch with four in the inning. The Huskies would shut them down in the seventh to hold on for the 8-7 win. Alex Johnson would help the Huskies get the win with a couple rbi's at the plate. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would open up the home portion of the season againist SUNYAC foe Cortland tate Red Dragons in double header action. The Cardinals wouldn't have much of a answer as they would lose both games by a score of 7-0. The downfall for the Cardinals would there errors and giving up the big inning. In game would they would just not be able to get hits as they were held to four hits. In game two there downfall would be four errors and allowing a five run 5th inning. We lose the Cardinals fall to 3-11 on the season, They will look to get back on track Wednesday when they host Lyndon State. Gallery

Peabody's Shane Perrotte (2) with the diving stop at second base and flips on for the out at second. The 2013 edition of the Champlain Valley Baseball League would get underway with a rematch of the championship from 2012 as the Peabody's Padres would host the Lyon Mountain Miners. In-game 1 of the doubleheader the Padres would take a 2-0 lead in the first. Although the lead would be short-lived as the Miners would come back and get 1 in the second. Then in the third and fourth the Miners would get 12 more runs thanks to some untimely errors by the Padres and game would be called after 5 at 13-3. Game two would be a lot more competitive game as the Padres would have a 5-3 lead entering the six and the Miners would get 1 run in the 6th and 7th to force extra innings tied at 5-5. Then on the 8th, the Miners would get three runs to secure the 8-5 victory. With the result of the opening week, the Miners are 2-0 while the Padres are 0-2. Gallery
