The Fourth Ward Cardinals would be in total control from start to finish as they would win the first game 10-7. Although that score would be closer then it would appear as the Cardinals had a 10-1 lead going into the last inning. Then in the second game, there would be little doubt throughout the game as they would get the 16-3 victory and be crowned the 2014 Champlain Valley Baseball League champions. Gallery

The Fourth Ward Cardinals pose for there team photo as they are crowned the 2014 Champlain Valley Baseball League champions. The Fourth Ward Cardinals would meet up with the Meron's Expos in the 2014 Champlain Valley Baseball championship. The Fourth Ward Cardinals would be in total control from start to finish as they would win the first game 10-7. Although that score would be closer then it would appear as the Cardinals had a 10-1 lead going into the last inning. Peabody's Matt Orsmby (13) with the diving catch in centerfield to the rob a hit away from the Expos. The Peabody Padres would travel to South Acres Field in Plattsburgh and play the Meron's Expos in Week 7 of the Champlain Valley Baseball League. The Padres would jump out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning of the game with a rbi single by Jeff Norton and a two-run home run by Mark Eggleston. The Padres would extend it to 4-0 Shane Perrotte's RBI single. The Expos would cut the lead in half in the bottom of the second on a pair of RBI singles by Bruno and Woods to make it 4-2. The Padres would extend the lead back to 6-2 on Mark Eggleston 2 run homer. The Expos answered back in the third with a two-run homer by Mark Passino to make it 6-4. The Expos would tie it up in the fourth on RBI's by Roenback and Bourdeau. The Padres would regain the lead in the fifth on Mark Eggleston's third homer to make it 7-6. Then in the sixth, the Padres would put the game away on Mike Rivers home run and secure the 8-6 win. Then it was time for game two of the day. In that second game, the Padres would jump on the Expos quick and take 5-0 lead anchored by Chris Markwicka three-run home run. Then in second, they would add four more runs helped by Jeff Norton's and Mark Eggleston's back to back homers to make it 9-0. Then in the fourth inning the Expos would get on the board helped by Bruno's homer to make it 9-2. Then the Padres would add two more in the seventh to extend it to 11-2. The Expos would try and make a last inning comeback but it would be two much as they would get one run and the Padres would secure the 11-3 win. With the sweep, the Padres improve there record to 11-4 on the season and are within striking distance of the first-place Cardinals. Gallery

The Padres would regain the lead in the fifth with two runs one by wild pitch score Shane Perrotte and Matt Rivers would score on an RBI sacrifice fly by Brady Burleigh to take a 3-1 lead. In the sixth inning, the Expos would try and come back with an RBI single by Dominick but it would come up short and the Padres win game 1. In the winning effort, Matt Rivers would go the distance giving 2 runs on 6 hits while striking out seven. In the second game, the Expos would take the 2-0 lead in third with a pair of RBI singles by Matt Golden and Chris Rodenbeck for the 2-0 lead. Then in the fifth inning, the Expos would extend there lead to 5-0 with a 2 RBI double by Bourdeau and an RBI single by Cliff Connors. In the sixth inning, the Padres would get on the board with a Brady Burleigh score to make it 5-1. Then in seventh, they would score again on Brady Burleigh RBI single to give the Expos the 5-2 win. In the winning effort, Mike Bergmen would go the distance giving up 2 runs on 2 hits. With the split, the Padres go to 6-2 while the Expos go to 7-3 on the season.

The game would start of close as the teams would trade runs in the first to have a 1-1 game. From there on out the Cardinals would pour it on as the Expos just seemed to have an off day. The Cardinals would break the game open in the second with six runs for the 7-1 lead and from there they would cruise to the 14-3 win. With the win, the Cardinals advance to the Championship where they will take on the defending champion Lyon Mountain Miners in the best of three series. Gallery

The Padres would extend the lead to 4-1 on Kalob Drollette RBI base hit in the 5th inning. In the sixth, the Expos would erase the lead by getting three runs and tie the game at 4. Then the Expos would win it in the seventh with one run to get the 5-4 win. In the lose Matt Rivers would go the distance striking out six while giving up 8 hits. As the teams would return for game two the Expos would get one in first while the Padres would get two for the 2-1 lead. After that, it would be all Expos as they would score nine unanswered runs for the 11-2 victory giving the Expos the sweep on the day.
