The Plattsburgh State Cardinals celebrate as Bennett Stockdale gets the game-winner with a minute left in the game. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would finish off the home portion of their 2022 season with a SUNYAC game against the Morrisville State Mustangs on the 3rd annual teddy bear toss night with 1750 fans in attendance. The Cardinals would get the opening goal of the game from Carson Gallagher at the 11:24 mark of the first period and the throwing of the bears would insure. That is where the game would stay til the 3:54 mark of the second when the Cardinals would score again from Mitchell Hale to take the 2-0 lead. Then just three minutes later the Cardinals would extend the lead to 3-0 on the Jake Lanyi goal. Although just twenty seconds later the Mustangs would get on the board with a Trevor Neumann goal and make it a 3-1 game. That is where the game would stay till the first minute of the third period when Jestin Somero would score for the Mustangs to make it a 3-2 game for the third. The Mustangs wouldn't give up and would tie the game halfway through the period with Trevor Neumann on his second goal of the game. Although the home Cardinals would keep peppering the Mustang goalie and would break down the wall with 59 seconds left in the game to get the game-winner from Bennett Stockdale and give the Cardinals the 4-3 win. In the winning effort, Elli Shiller would make 16 saves as they go to 8-3-2 on the season. The Cardinals will be back in action on January 6th as they take part in the Winter Classic with Oswego, Potsdam, and Wentworth. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Paul Bryer (25) with the hard hit from behind on the Fredonia staker that sends him into the boards. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would contuine there homestand as they would host the Fredonia State Blue Devils in SUNYAC play. The Cardinals would get the opening goal of the game at the 7:14 mark of the first period when Jake Lanyi would find the back of the night for the 1-0 lead. That would be where the game would stay all the way til the 3:14 mark of the third period when Adam Tretowicz would find the net on a breakaway for the shorthanded goal and the 2-0 Cardinals lead. Then the Cardinals would add a third goal at the 12:09 mark of the period from Josh Belgrave for the 3-0 lead and that is where the game would finish. In the winning effort Eli Shiller would make 23 saves as they go to 4-1-2. They will be back in action tomorrow (November 19th) as they finish off the homestand against the Buffalo State Bengals on poster night at the Stafford Ice Arena. Gallery

SUNYAC Men's Hockey #3 Genesseo State Knights @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals November 12th 2022

Plattsburgh State's Bennett Stockdale (15) comes in on the penalty shot attempt during overtime looking to send the home crowd home happy with the win. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would finish off the weekend by welcoming the #2 Genesseo State Knights into the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena for a SUNYAC off a successful night the previous night bidding for the upset. The game would start off good for the upset minded Cardinals as they would get the opening goal of the game with 4:15 left in the first period on the Cory Doney goal and the 1-0 lead. Although the lead would short lived as the Knights would tie the game just 52 seconds into the second period on the power play goal from Matthew Doran. The game would stay there all the way til the 4:28 mark of the third period when the Knights take the lead at 2-1 on the Morgan Peter goal. Although the Cardinals would not give up the fight and would get the tying goal with the extra man with just 25 seconds left in the game. The teams would head to the overtime and play three on three and there would be no decider and the game would end in a 2-2 tie. Jacob Hearne would make 35 saves on the night as the Cardinals go to 3-1-2 on the season. The Cardinals will be back in action next weekend as they will host the Fredonia Blue Devils and the Buffalo State Bengals. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Jack Ring (22) with the revound goal in front of the net as part of a two goal game as the Cardinals get the 9-2 win. It would be the home opener for the Plattsburgh State Cardinals as they would take on the Brockport State Golden Eagles in SUNYAC action. The game would start off well for the Cardinals as they would get on the board just 44 seconds into the game on the goal by Luk Jirousek. The game would stay there til the 9:51 mark of the period when Brendan Young would light the lamp for the 2-0 game. The with 3:27 left in the period jack Ring would score on the rebound with the powerplay goal to make it 3-0 to end the period. Then as the second period Ryan Hogg would strike would score twice in 27 seconds at the four minute mark to expand the lead to 5-0. Then at the 7:47 mark of the period Bennett Stockdale would tickle the the twine and the Cardinals would take a 6-0 lead. Just 45 seconds later though Jacob Modry would score on the power play and make it 7-0 game. As the game just past the halfway mark of the game Bennett Stockdale would score again and take a 8-0 lead. The Golden Eagles would finally break up the Cardinals rush and shutout as Scott Ramaekers scores to make it 8-1. Thats where the game would stay til the 5:32 mark of the third when Jack Ring would get his second goal of the game to make it 9-1. Although just 50 seconds later the Golden Eagles would score from Matt Anastasio to make it a 9-2 game. From there the defenses would hold down the rest of the game and the Cardinals would get the 9-2 win. In the winning effort Eli Shiller would make 21 saves on the night as the Cardinals go to 3-1-1 while the Golden Eagles fall to 2-2 on the season. #1 Quinnipiac Bobcats Vs #5 Colgate Red Raiders ECAC Hockey Division 1 Men's Hockey Semi-finals March 18th 2022

Colgate's Ben Raymond (18) would come down on the breakaway and put the shot on Quinnipiac's Yaniv Perets and Griffin Lunn (12) would come in and put the rebound away for the goal. it would be the return of the ECAC Men's Hockey championships after a 2-year break because of the Covid-19 pandemic to Lake Placid and the Herb Brooks Arena and the fans would welcome them back with 4200 in attendance. The first semi-final of the day would feature the #1 Quinnipiac Bobcats and the #5 Colgate Red Raiders with the winner looking to play for a title on Saturday night. The game would start of good for top seeded bobcats as they would get the opening goal of the game at the 9:23 mark of the first period on the powerplay from Joey Cipollone for the 1-0 lead. The Bobcats would expand their lead to 2-0 with 3:17 left in the first period on the goal by Michael Lombardi as they would end the first period. Although the Red Raiders would come out in the second period and looking to get back in the game and they would on the Griffin Lunn goal just 4:13 into the period. Although that would be the only goal of the period and the Bobcats would hold the 2-1 lead as the second period would come to an end. The teams would go back and forth in the third period and just about halfway through the third period the Bobcats would regain the two-goal lead at 3-1 on the Wyatt Bongiovanni. From there the Bobcats would clamp down on the defense and hold on for the 3-1 win. In the winning effort Quinnipiac's Yaniv Perets would make saves on the night as they head back to the ECAC Championship against the winner of Clarkson and Harvard while Colgate's Mitch Benson would make 30 saves in the loss. #1 Quinnipiac Bobcats Vs #3 Harvard Crimson ECAC Hockey Division 1 Men's Hockey Finals March 18th 2022

It would be the finals of the ECAC Men's Hockey Championship from the Herb Brooks Arena in front of 4400 fans for the first time since the covid-19 pandemic had started and it would feature the #1 Quinnipiac Bobcats and #3 Harvard Crimson. The upset-minded Crimson knew the only way they were headed to the NCAA was with a win go off to a quick start on a goal just 1:07 into the game from Ryan Siedem for the early lead. Although the Bobcats would not let the Crimson have the lead long as they would tie the game up at one on the TJ Friedmann goal at the 5:24 mark of the period. The game would stay there till the 9:24 mark of the second period on the powerplay goal from Ian Moore. The game would remain through the rest of the second period and most of the third period until there was 6:16 left in the game the Bobcats would tie the game up on the powerplay goal from Jayden Lee and eventually send the game to overtime. In the overtime, the Crimson would get the game-winner at the 9:18 mark from Matthew Coronato to secure the 3-2 victory and the automatic qualifier spot for the ECAC Hockey. In the winning effort, Matthew Gibson would make 47 saves as they will now head to the NCAA Tournament against Minnesota State while Quinnipiac's Yaniv Perets would make 14 saves but still get the invite to the NCAA Tournament and will take on St. Cloud State. #2 Clarkson Golden Knights Vs #3 Harvard Crimson ECAC Hockey Division 1 Men's Hockey Semi-finals March 18th 2022

Clarkson's Ethan Haider (47) extends the pad out for the save on the Harvard shot in close as part of a 29 save effort. It would be semi-final game number 2 and #2 Clarkson Golden Knights would take on the #3 Harvard Crimson as the Knights would look to retain their title in Lake Placid as they won the last tournament before the shutdown of Covid-19 back in 2019. The game would start off good for the upset minded Crimson as they would get the opening goal from Sean Farrell at the 8:20 mark of the first period. Although the Knights would not end the period quietly as they would get the equalizer with just over five minutes left in the period on the Alex Campbell powerplay goal. The game would stay there till the 10:59 mark of the second period when the Crimson would regain the lead at 2-1 on the Nick Abruzzese goal. Although the Golden Knights would tie the game back up again just two minutes later on the goal by Alex Campbell for the second time on the night and both on the powerplay. Then with just over three minutes left in the period the Golden Knights would get there first lead of the game on the Zach Tsekos goal and make it 3-2 Golden Knights leaded headed to the third period. Although the lead would be short lived as the Crimson would tie game up at the 4:23 mark of the period on Nick Abruzzeses second goal of the game. Then with just under five minutes left in the game the Crimson would take the lead for the third and final time on the night on the Matthew Coronato goal at 4-3 and would also add the empty netter in the closing seconds of the game. In the winning effort the Harvard Crimson advance to the ECAC Hockey Championship against the #1 Quinnipiac Bobcats and Mitchell Gibson would make 24 saves on the night while Clarkson's Ethan Haider would make 29 saves in the losing effort. The game would start off good for the underdog Golden Eagles as they would get the opening goal of the game from Connor Galloway at the 4:49 mark of the first period. The Cardinals would fight back and get the tying goal at the 13:24 mark from Ryan Hogg. The tie would be short-lived as Connor Galloway would strike again with his second goal of the game just two minutes later to regain the lead at 2-1. Just 1:44 into the second period the Golden Eagles would make it a two-goal game at 3-1 on the powerplay goal by Andrew Harley. From there the Cardinals would take control of the period with five goals in a ten-minute span from Christian DiFelice (twice), Carson Gallagher, Trey Thomas, Thomas Maia and make it a 6-3 Cardinals game with three minutes left in the second period. In the third period just 3:42 into it, Golden Eagles would make it a 6-4 game on the Jacob King goal. Then in a 15-second span with 90 seconds left in the game, the Golden Eagles would score twice and force overtime on Anthony Hora's goal and Connor Galloway's powerplay goal to send it to overtime tied at six. In the overtime at 8:10, the comeback and upset would be complete at the 8:10 mark when Scott Ramaekers would find the back of the night for the 7-6 Golden Eagles win. In the loss for the Cardinals, their season comes to end at 15-8-3 while the Brockport State Golden Eagles head to the semi-finals and will faceoff with the #1 Geneseo Knights. Gallery

The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host cross-state foe the Buffalo State Bengals in SUNYAC Men's Hockey action. The game would start off good for the home Cardinals as they would get the opening goal just 2:23 into the game on the Paul Bryer for the 1-0 lead. The Bengals would answer back in about the same amount of time at the 5:06 mark from Nikita Kozyrev to tie the game at one. The Bengals would keep fighting and take the lead at the 12:04 mark of the first on the Tyler Vanuden for the 2-1 lead. The Cardinals would keep looking for the equalizer and they would get that equalizer at the 5:36 mark of the second period on Joey Mancuso's second goal of the night and tie the game at two. Then with just under three minutes left in the period, the Cardinals would regain the lead at 3-2 on the shorthanded goal by Pavel Kharin. The Bengals wouldn't let that stand though as they would for the third time on the night tied the game this time from Andrew Logar at the 7:26 mark of the third period. Although the Cardinals would put the Bengals away once and for all with their second short-handed goal of the game at the 14:29 mark of the third period thanks to Trey Thomas and secure the 4-3. In the winning effort, Jacob Hearne would make 17 saves as they go to 12-7-3 on the season and clinch their spot in the SUNYAC Tournament in a couple of weeks. Gallery

The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would come into the night looking for the sweep of western new york as they would host the Fredonia State Blue Devils in SUNYAC Men's Hockey action. In the opening period of the game, the Cardinals would have an offensive outburst with five goals Joey Mancuso (twice), Jake Lanyl, Trey Thomas, and Bennet Stockdale. While the Blue Devils would do their best to keep it honest with a goal by Parker Brakebill for a 5-1 game after the first period. In the second period, the Cardinals would keep hitting as they would get two more from Brendan Young and Trey Thomas second of the night for a 7-1 game headed into the third. In that third period, there would be no stopping the Cardinals as they would have another outburst this time for 6 goals from Christian Difelice, Mitchell Hale, Jale Lanyl (second of the game), Jack Ring, Adam Tretowicz, Joey Mancuso to complete his hat trick and secure the 13-1 win. In the winning effort, the Cardinals would have their biggest win since 1998 and go to 13-7-3 on the season as they will be on the road next weekend. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Carson Gallager (28) would get the goal as they crash the net on the scramble in front of the net for the goal. It would be a SUNYAC affair as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Brockport State Golden Eagles in Men's College Hockey action, The game would start off with fury as in 2:30 span from the 5:20 to the 8:03 mark of the first period the Cardinals would light the lamp three times from Kevin Weaver Vitale, Adam Tretowics, and Jacob Modry for a 3-0 lead. The Eagles would get into the action at the 11:54 mark of the first period on a goal from Ryan Romeo to make it a 3-1 game. Although the Cardinals would regain the three-goal lead at the 13:41 mark Carson Gallagher would get in on the action to make it a 4-1 game. That is where the game would stay till the 5:36 mark of the second period when Connor Galloway would score for the Eagles to get them back within 2 goals at 4-2. That is where the game would stay all the way till the last 90 seconds of the game when Ryan Romeo would get second of the game to make it a 4-3 game down the stretch. Although the Cardinals would off the Eagles late surge for the 4-3 win. In the winning effort, the Cardinals go to 11-7-3 as Jacob Hearne would have 18 saves on the night to get his first career NCAA to win. Plattsburgh State's Trey Thomas (3) gets the goal on the scramble in front of the net. It would be the first SUNYAC game of the second half of the season as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #2 Geneseo State Knights. The #2 wouldn't wait long as they jump out to a 1-0 lead just 55 seconds into the game on the Domenic Garozzo goal. The Knights would extend their lead to 2-0 at the 9:50 mark n a powerplay goal from Justin Cmunt. Then just 25 seconds later Adam Tretowicz would get the Cardinals on the board and make it a 2-1 game. The Cardinals would keep fighting and tie the game up at two on the Paul Bryer goal at the 14:39 mark. Although with just 12 seconds left in the first period the Knights Dan Bosio would score to make it a 3-2 game. That is where the game would stay all the way till the 3:33 mark of the third period when the Cardinals Trey Thomas would tie the game up at three. The Knights would fight back and regain the lead at 8:30 of the period on Peter Morgan's powerplay goal. Then at the 12:18 mark, the Knights would make it a two-goal game on Domenic Garozzo second goal of the game at 5-3. Then with under a minute left in the game, the Knights Domenic Garozzo would finish off the hat trick night with an empty netter in a 6-3 game. In the losing effort, Anthony Del Tuffo would make 37 saves as they fall to 10-7-3 on the season. Next up for the Cardinals would be tomorrow night against the Brockport State Golden Eagles. Gallery

It would be a non-conference matchup as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the brand new Riviers Raiders at the Fieldhouse on a senior night. The game would start off good for the home Cardinals as they would get the opening goal at the 9:41 mark of the first period on the Christian Difelice for the 1-0 lead. Although the Raiders would fight the rest of the period and get the equalizer with four minutes left in the period from Tyler Duderstadt. The tie would be short-lived as the Cardinals regained the lead at 2-1 on the Carson Gallagher goal with 1:17 left in the period. As the second period would get underway the Raiders would actually fight and take the lead to the Milan Breczko powerplay goal. The tie would be short-lived as the Cardinals would take the lead back at 3-2 on the Jacob Modry goal 30 seconds later. The Raiders would keep fighting and tie the game again with just under five minutes left on the Jon Tavella goal/ The game would stay there until the 8:54 mark of the third period when the Raiders would get their first lead of the game on the Ryan Nolte goal at 4-4. Although the Cardinals would fight all the way to the last horn and get the tying goal with 12 seconds left on the Carson Gallaghers second of the game to force overtime. In that overtime period, the Cardinals would send the faithful home happy as Luk Jirousek would light the lamp 1:38 into the overtime for the 5-4 win. In the winning effort, the Cardinals go to 9-5-3 while the Raiders fall to 4-9-2. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Mitchell Hale (26) taps in the puck that makes it way through the Middlebury goalie. It would be the classic rivalry revisited again as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Middlebury Panthers in non-conference action. It would be a very fast-paced game that would have its moments of roughness. The teams would be even through the first period and no one would be able to light the lamp. The opening goal of the game would come at the 12:10 mark of the second period when Middlebury's Wyatt Pastor would break the seal on the powerplay for the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there until the 3:03 mark of the third period when the Cardinals would tie the game at one thanks to Trey Thomas. Then just about four minutes later the Panthers would regain the lead at 2-1 thanks to the Paul Fine-Lease goal. Then at the 9:35 mark of the third Mitchell Halle with help from Jagger Benson and Pavel Kharin would tie the game at two. Although once again the Panthers would take the lead 3-2 just a minute later on Andrej Hromic's goal. But the Cardinals wouldn't go quietly into the night as they would tie the game for the third time on Trey Thomas's goal with just over five minutes left in the game. That is where the game would stay after that and overtime as the Cardinals go to 8-5-3 and the Panthers to 1-7-1 on the season. Gallery

Mason Winter Classic and it would feature the host Plattsburgh State Cardinals and the King's Monarchs in the battle for second place in the final standings. The game would start off good for the home Cardinals as they would light the lamp just 5:36 into the game on the Thomas Maia goal for the 1-0 lead. Then with 90 seconds left in the period, the Cardinals would score again on the powerplay from Matt Araujo to make it 2-0 Cardinals. To start the second period the Cardinals would show some life and get on the board at the 2:18 mark from Aaron Frenkel to make it a 2-1 game. The Cardinals would answer back and they would authority as they get three before the end of the period to make it a 5-1 game thanks to Jack Ring and Joey Mancuso (twice). As the third period started the Monarchs would answer back to make it a three-goal game at 5-2 on Aaron Frenkel's second goal of the game at the 5:17 mark. But then here would come the Cardinals as they would storm away with three goals down the stretch from Thomas Maia (twice of the night), Christian Difelice, and Bennett Stockdale for the 8-2 victory. Albertus Magnus Logan Bateman (30) with one of his 29 saves on the night that he sends to the corner. It would be game two of the W.B. Mason Winter Classic and it would feature the Albertus Magnus Falcons and the King's Monarchs. It would be a tight evenly matched game through the first as there would be no scoring. The first goal of the game would not come until the 11:36 mark of the second period when Tyler Ignazzitto would light the lamp for the Falcons and make it a 1-0 game. Then with just about two minutes left in the period, the Falcons would strike again this time on the powerplay from Colt Corpse for a 2-0 game. Then when the teams came back for the third period the Falcons would go for the knockout as they would score just a minute into the period to make it 3-0. Although the Monarchs would show some life as Mahingan Decontie would score at the 5:26 mark of the third to make it 3-1. The Monarchs would keep fighting and make it a 3-2 game at the 9:17 mark of the third period on a powerplay goal by Jack Cooper. Then with just under five minutes left in the game, the Monarchs would complete the comeback and tie at three on the Nick Snyder. That is where the game would stay until the overtime and in that overtime, Alex Gagnon would get his second of the night and it was an important one as it would be the game-winner. In the winning effort, Logan Bateman would make 29 saves as they go to 9-6 on the season while the Monarchs fall to 2-10 on the season. Gallery

NCAA Division III Men's Hockey W.B. Mason Winter Classic Albertus Mangus Falcons @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals January 7th 2022

Albertus Mangus' Coleton Cianci with the goal as he breaks in on net with the two on one advantage. The game would start off slow as these evenly matched teams would feel each other out and there would be no scoring in the first period. In the second period, the home Cardinals would get the opening goal at the 3:18 mark from Paul Bryer for the 1-0 lead. Although the lead would be short-lived as the Falcons would tie the game at one just over 90 seconds later on the Coleton Cianci goal. Then with just over five minutes left in the period, the Falcons would take the lead 2-1 on the Tim Manning goal. Although with 51 seconds left in the second period Adam Trentowicz would score on the powerplay to tie the game two. The Cardinals would take the lead back just 90 seconds into the third period on Paul Bryer's second goal of the game to make it 3-2. The third period would start off good for the visiting Falcons as they would get two powerplay goals and an even-strength goal 115 seconds apart from Gagnon, Sam Anderson (twice) to take the 5-3 lead. Then just over the halfway mark of the third period Thomas Maia would score for the Cardinals to make it a 5-4 game. Although with just under 90 seconds left in the game the Falcons would take the 6-4 lead and win on the empty netter by Ryan Colwell. In the losing effort, Anthony Del Tuffo would make 21 saves as the Cardinals fall to 7-5-2 on the season. Next up for the Cardinal will be a matchup on January 9th against Kings while Albertus Mangus will play Kings on January 8th. Gallery.
