The Big Red would get the game's first goal at just 5:11 when Ondrej Psenicka beat the netminder for the 1-0 lead as the Big Red looked to respond. Then it would be just 1:52 later when the Big Red would extend their lead to 2-0 when Nick Desantis would score his eighth of the season, and that's where the first period would end. The game would stay there till the 13:23 mark of the second period when the Golden Knights would make it a one-goal game at 2-1 on Erik Bargholtz's sixth goal of the season, and that's where the period would end. In the third period, the game would go back and forth with both teams having their chances to get one, including the tying goal by the Knights. Clarkson's Ty Brassington (44) and Dartmouth's Cam Macdonald (15) have a meeting of the minds as they go after the loose puck at the blueline by the benches. It would be the second semi-final game of the day from the Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, NY, as it would be a part of the championship weekend in front of 5300 fans. It would be tight through the first period as both teams would have chances, but no one could light the lamp, and there would be no score after the first period. The Golden Knights would get the game's opening goal at the 1:04 mark of the second period when Ryan Bottrill would score for his eighth goal of the season for the 1-0 lead. The Golden Knights would be able to double up their lead at 2-0 when Tristan Sarsland would score just over 4 minutes later for his eighth of the season, and that's where the second period would end at 2-0, Clarkson. When the teams returned for the third period, the Golden Knights would extend their lead to 3-0 just 4:54 into the period when Trey Taylor would score his 9th of the season. The Big Green would keep coming and get on the board with 4:28 left in the game when John Fusco scored his 11th of the season to make it interesting down the stretch. However, the Golden Knights would put the icing on the cake with 1:50 left in the game when Ayrton Martino would get his 25th of the season to secure the 4-1 win for the Golden Knights. Quinnipac's Chris Pelosi (28) gets the goal that he roofs to give the Bobcats the 2-1 lead late in the third period. The ECAC Hockey would make their annual return to Lake Placid and the home of Miracles for their final four, and their first game would see the #1 Quinnipac Bobcats and the #6 Cornell Big Red battle for a spot in the championship game Saturday evening in front of 5300 fans. The Big Red would start the scoring in the first period when Jonathan Castagna would strike on the powerplay for his fifth goal of the season to give them the 1-0 lead with just 4 seconds left in the first period. In the second period, the Bobcats would answer back at the 14:09 mark when Andon Cerbone would score his 15th of the season and tie the game at one, and that's how the game would go to the third period. In the third period, the Bobcats would get their first lead at 14:42 when Chris Pelosi scored. Then with the Big Red down a man and pulling the goalie to even it back up, Kyler Kovich would score for his fifth goal of the season to send the game to overtime. In overtime, the Bobcats would take a slashing penalty, and Tim Reggo would rifle it past the goaltender for the game winner at the 14:39 mark of the overtime and advance to the finals with a 3-2 victory to take on the winner of Clarkson and Dartmouth in the other semi-finals. In the winning effort for the Big Red, Ian Shane would make 22 saves in the afternoon as they go to 17-10-6 in the season. It would be the final game of the 2nd annual Adirondack Winter Invitational presented by Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort, and it would feature a matchup of a pair of top 20 teams as the #16 Massachusetts Lowell River Hawks and the #20 Clarkson Golden Knights from the Lake Placid Olympic Center Herb Brooks Arena. It would take till the last minute of the period before we had our first game goal. Still, both teams would score within ten seconds of each other as Connor Eddy would get his third goal of the season for the Riverhawks, and Ryan Richardson would get his 5th of the year for the Golden Knights, and the period would end tied at one. The Golden Knights would take the lead in the game at the 8:32 mark of the second period on Ray Fust's first goal for the 2-1 lead. However, the Riverhawks would answer right back and tie the game at two 17 seconds later on the Mirko Buttazzoni second of the season. Then, just 90 seconds after that, the Riverhawks would regain the lead at 3-2 on Matt CCrasa'sthird of the season. The Golden Knights would keep fighting and tie the game up again on Ryan Richardson's second goal with 4:09 left in the second period to end the second period tied at four. When the teams returned for the third period, both would be looking for the go-ahead goal, but the Riverhawks would be the ones that would get the 4-3 lead with just under ten minutes left on Owen Cole's fifth of the season. The Golden Knights would not be denied on this day as they would tie it up again, this time on the Ellis Rickwood goal, his third of the season, and from there, the game would head to overtime. In the three-on-three overtime, both teams would have their chances. Still, no one would be able to light the lamp, and the game would officially go as a 4-4 tie, but because of the weekend tournament, a winner would be needed, which would be the Massachusetts Lowell Riverhawks on the eighth round of the shootout. Henry Welsch would make saves in the winning effort for the Riverhawks, and they went to10-on the three seasons. The game would start well for the Friars as they would get the opening goal of the game just 3:21 into the contest as Tanner Adams would get his second of the weekend and eight on the season to give them the 1-0 lead, and that would be the only scoring of the first period In the second period,d the Saints would get their first goal of the weekend, and it would come from Tyler Cristall for second of the season as it would tie the game up atone1 just 2:31 into the period and that would be the lone goal of the period, and the teams would enter the third period tied at 1 The Saints would enter the third looking for the upset of number ten in the country, although that would not be happening on this day as the Friars would take the 2-1 lead at the 8:51 mark of the third on the John Mustrd's fourth of the season and that's how the game would end at 2-1 Friars In the winning effort, the Friars Zachry Borgiel would make 19 saves on the night as they go to 10-3-2 in the season As for the Saints, Dominic Basse would make 33 saves in the afternoon as the Saints go to 4-11 in the season, and both teams head back into conference play next season.
