It would be the final game of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and would feature the Saranac Chiefs and the Peru Nighthawks. The game would start off great for the Chiefs as their offense would explode out of the gate and build up a lead of 24-2 by the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Chiefs would go cold and the defense would step up for the Nighthawks as it would be a low-scoring 7-4 quarter and the Chiefs would have a 31-6 lead at the intermission. In the third quarter, the Nighthawks would be able to stay with them and actually have a 9-8 quarter and make it a 39-15 game headed to the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Nighthawks would win the quarter but their slow start of the gate would be their undoing as they win the quarter 13-11 but the Chiefs would hold on for the 50-28 win. The first game of day two of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic would be the Beekmantown Eagles and the Boquet Valley Griffins. The game starts off slow as the Eagles would take a slim 9-6 lead after the first quarter. . In the second quarter though the offense would come alive for the Eagles as they would take the quarter 15-6 and have a 24-12 lead at the intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Griffins would seem to find their stride as they would be equal to the task with the Eagles with a 14-14 quarter making it a 38-26 game as they went to the fourth. In that fourth quarter, the Griffins would give it everything they got but they would come up short with a 13-9 quarter and the Eagles would hold on for the 47-39 victory. The game would start off good for the Chiefs as they would have a 19-10 lead after the first quarter, In the second quarter, In the second quarter as the Chiefs would win the quarter by a slim 13-11 and would take a 32-21 lead into the intermission. When they returned from the break the Chiefs would stay hot and start to put the game away with a 13-8 quarter and take a 45-29 lead into the fourth. In the fourth, the Chiefs would finish the game off on a 14-11 quarter and secure the 59-39 victory. With the win the Chiefs go to 4-3 season and while be back in action tomorrow against the Peru Knighthawks as the Boquet Valley Griffins fall to 3-3 and are back in action tomorrow against the Beekmantown Eagles. It would be a matchup between the Champlain and Mountain Valley as the Plattsburgh Hornets would meet up with the Seton Catholic Knights at the PHS Gym. It would be a lower scoring start and the little school that could have the slim 6-2 lead for the Knights after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the offense for the Hornets would come alive and shut down the Knights with 14-6 quarters to give the Hornets a 16-12 lead at the intermission. When they came back for the third quarter the flip would script as the Knights would have a 12-2 quarter and take a 24-18 lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the teams would be evenly matched and the Hornets would win slightly 13-11 as the Knights would get the slim 37-29 victory. It would be an interconference game as the Champlain Valley's Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Mountain Valley's Northern Adirondack Bobcats in Girl's Basketball action. The game would start off good for the visiting Bobcats as they just out to a 6 point lead after the first quarter with a 15-9 lead. In the second quarter, the home Hornets would do their best to keep the game close but the Bobcats win the quarter 13-9 and take a 28-18 lead into the locker room. The home Hornets would look too hot and cut into the Bobcats lead but their defense would be up to the challenge and have a 14-5 quarter and take a 42-23 lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Bobcats would stay on the gas and pull away with a 17-7 quarter and win the game 59-30. The game would start off great for the home Hornets with a 23-8 first quarter. In the second quarter, the Eagles would start to find traction as the Hornets would have an 11-8 but the Hornets would take a 34-16 lead into the break. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Hornets would keep the foot on the gas and have a 14-9 third and take a 48-25 lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Hornets would just be too much as they would but the game away with 16-3 quarter and get the 64-28. It would be the last game before the winter break as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Middlebury Panthers in front of just over 200 -fans. The first half would not go the way the home Cardinals were hoping for as they would be trailing the Panthers 47-34. In the second half, the Cardinals would do their best to try and keep it close but the Panthers would just do too much on this day as they would win the half 35-27 and secure the 82-61 for the Panthers. In a losing effort for the Cardinals, Kevin Tabb would have a team night 11 points as they would fall to 1-8 on the season with the next tilt after the New Year against the Clarkson Golden Knights. The game would start off close but the Cardinals would be behind by a score of 20-13. In the second quarter, the Cardinals would do their best to keep the game close but the Panthers would win the quarter 21-17 and have a 41-30 lead at the intermission. When the teams would return for the third quarter the Cardinals would stay in the fight but the Panthers would pull away by a little more with a 22-16 quarter and the Panthers would lead 63-46 heading into the fourth. Once again in the fourth, the Cardinals would stay close but the Panthers win by a slim 18-14 to give the Cardinals the 81-60 lose. It would be a hotly contested first half and see the Bears come out with the 38-29 lead at the half. In the second half the team's offensive would step up on both sides and the Cardinals would fight hard to get back in the game with a 51-46 half. Although it would not be enough as the Cardinals would fall 84-80. In the losing effort for the Cardinals, Erik Salo would lead the way with 22 points as they fall to 1-5 on the season. It would be a tight but good start for the Cardinals as they would have a slim 19-17 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the teams would still be tight but the Bears were just a little better as they win the quarter 17-13 and take a 34-32 lead into the locker room. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Bears would start to pull away as they would have a 19-12 quarter and take a 53-44 lead into the fourth. In that fourth quarter, the Cardinals would do their best to get back into it with a 19-14 but it wouldn't be enough as they would fall by a score of 67-63. In the winning effort, the Bears Madison McCormick would lead the way 18 points as they go to 5-1. While for the Cardinals Mya Smith would lead the way with 20 points as they go to 3-3 on the season. The game would start off slow as the defenses would be on their game as the Cadets would have the low 14-10 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the defenses would stay up as the Cardinals would win it 10-5 and have the 20-19 lead at the half. When the teams came back for the third quarter so did the Cardinals offense as they would explode for a 29-6 quarter and take a 49-25 lead. In the fourth quarter, they would just let it ride and win the quarter 20-19 and secure the 69-44 win. When the teams came back for the second half the Tigers would stay hot as they would extend their lead to 44-38 with a 20-15 quarter. Although in the fourth quarter the Bears would catch fire with a 23-11 quarter and pull out the win at the end with a 61-55 win. It would be the opening game of the Cardinal Classic as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Cobleskill Tigers. The game would not start off good for the home Cardinals as they would trail 21-15 after the opening stanza. In the second quarter, the Cardinals would keep it closer but still wouldn't have an answer as the Tigers win the quarter 15-14 giving the Tigers the 36-29 lead at the intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Cardinals found a way to break the Tigers defense as they win the quarter 21-9 to take a 50-45 lead into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Cardinals offense would stay in fire winning the quarter 21-15 and securing the 71-60 victory. In the winning effort, the Cardinals would play the Norwich Cadets the second day for a chance to win the Cardinal Classic. When the teams came back for the second quarter the Bears came back with their offense as they would be on fire with a 25-7 quarter and pull away with a 50-21 lead. In the fourth quarter, the Bears would stay on the gas with a 22-10 quarter and secure the 72-31 victory. It would be a matchup of winless opponents in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Girl's Basketball action as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Ticonderoga Sentinels. The game would start off good for the home hornets as they would jump out to the big lead after the first quarter at 17-6. In the second quarter, it would be a complete flip of the scrip as the Sentinels would get back into the game with a 13-3 quarter and only trail the Hornets by 1 at 20-19 at the half. When the teams returned for the second half they would play the third quarter rather tightly and the Hornets would increase their lead by the slimmest of margins at 8-6 to take a 28-25 lead into the final quarter. In the fourth quarter, the game would remain tight throughout and there would even be a couple of lead changes in the stanza. Although the Hornets would have enough in them to secure the 42-36 victory on the strength of a 14-11 quarter to get their first win of the season. The Hornets will look to continue their winning ways on Friday, March 19th as they travel to Clintonville and take on the Ausable Valley Patriots. Gallery

In the second quarter, it would be a moe eventually match defensive quarter as the Eagles would win the quarter 9-8 and take a 28-18 lead into intermission. When the teams came back from the break the Eagles would be hammer down and expand the lead and start to but the game away with a 14-5 quarter and have a 42-23 lead into the final stanza. In the final stanza, the Hornets would do their best to stay with the Eagles but that's all they could do as they would win the quarter 11-10 but the win would go to the Eagles at 53-33. In a losing effort, Liam Perkins for the Hornets would lead all scorers with fifteen points. It would be the classic section vii rivalry as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Peru Nighthawks in Boy's Basketball action. It would be a game that you could tell was an early-season tilt as the offense would have some miscues and the Hornets would have a low scoring 12-5 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the scoring would even be less as the defenses would step up as the Nighthawks would win the quarter at 5-4 but the Hornets would still have the lead at 16-10 at the half. When the teams would come back for the third quarter it would be tight with some extra scoring as the Hornets would win the quarter at 10-9 and extend their lead to 26-19. In the fourth quarter, the Hornets would get hot and pull away with an 18-9 quarter and secure the 44-27 victory. In the winning effort, Carter King would lead the way with 14 points and will be back in action Wednesday against Northeastern while Peru will be at home against Northern Adirondack. Gallery
