Kennmore/Grand Island's Carolyn Bourgeault (30) with the shoulder save as part of a 20 save night. The game would start off good for the Hornets as they would get the lone goal of the first period from Ada Johnson for the 1-0 lead. Although Kenmore/Grand Island would answer back with three goals of their own in the second period from Carissa Buyea, Isabella Jayme, and Megan Pinzel to make it a 3-1 game. Then just a minute into the third period Kenmore/Grand Island would make it 4-1 on the Emiliana Cassillo goal. Although the Hornets would show some life and make it a 4-2 game on the Amaya Abellard goal at the 9:18 marl. Although in the closing minute of the game the Kenmore/Grand Island squad would ice the game away with an empty netter on Megan Pinzel's second goal of the game to secure the 5-2 win and tournament title. In the winning effort, Kenmore/Grand Island's Carolyn Vourgeault would make 20 saves while Amella Lebrun makes 20 saves on the night. Gallery

Saranac Lake Placid Lakers @ Plattsburgh Hornets Upstate New York Girls Hockey League January 5th 2022

Plattsburgh's Rachel Madore (22) stuffs the puck in the back of the net as part of a two-goal night. It would be a section vii game inside the Upstate New York Girl's Hockey League as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers. It would take a bit but the home Hornets would get on the board first with a goal at the 6:47 mark of the first period when Amaya Abellard would light the lamp for the 1-0 lead. Then just two minutes later the Hornets would expand their lead to 2-0 on the Amanda Vaughn goal. Then with just under two minutes left in the opening period, the Hornets would take a 3-0 lead on the Rachel Madore power-play goal. When the teams came back for the second period the teams would play the period very evenly with the Hornets getting the only goal of the period in the final minute on Rachel Madore's second goal of the night to make it 4-0. In the third period, the Hornets would put the icing on the cake with a goal by Ada Johnson to secure a 5-0 win. In the winning effort, Angelica LeBraun would make 11 saves in the shutout victory as they went to 4-1-1 on the season. Gallery

Seton Catholic Knights @ Plattsburgh Hornets Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Girl's Basketball December 20th 2021

Seton Catholic's Gabriella Conti (20) with the contested layup as the Plattsburgh is on her hip. It would be a matchup between the Champlain and Mountain Valley as the Plattsburgh Hornets would meet up with the Seton Catholic Knights at the PHS Gym. It would be a lower scoring start and the little school that could have the slim 6-2 lead for the Knights after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the offense for the Hornets would come alive and shut down the Knights with 14-6 quarters to give the Hornets a 16-12 lead at the intermission. When they came back for the third quarter the flip would script as the Knights would have a 12-2 quarter and take a 24-18 lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the teams would be evenly matched and the Hornets would win slightly 13-11 as the Knights would get the slim 37-29 victory. In the winning effort, Madyson Whalen would lead the way with eight points as they go to 2-4 on the season while the Hornets fall to 3-3 on the season. Gallery

It would be a matchup between the Champlain and Mountain Valley as the Plattsburgh Hornets would meet up with the Seton Catholic Knights at the PHS Gym. It would be an interconference game as the Champlain Valley's Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Mountain Valley's Northern Adirondack Bobcats in Girl's Basketball action. The game would start off good for the visiting Bobcats as they just out to a 6 point lead after the first quarter with a 15-9 lead. In the second quarter, the home Hornets would do their best to keep the game close but the Bobcats win the quarter 13-9 and take a 28-18 lead into the locker room. The home Hornets would look too hot and cut into the Bobcats lead but their defense would be up to the challenge and have a 14-5 quarter and take a 42-23 lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Bobcats would stay on the gas and pull away with a 17-7 quarter and win the game 59-30. In the winning effort, the Bobcats go to 2-0 in the early season while the Hornets fall to 1-3 at the start. Gallery.

It would be a nonconference affair as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Malone Huskies at the Ameri-can North Sports Complex. The game would not start well for the home hornets as the Huskies would get the lone goal of the first period. Although in the second period the offenses for both teams would come alive as they would combine for fives goals in the period and be tied at three at the end scoring for the Hornets would be Drew Knowles, Jackson Kain, and Jace Lacey. Then in the third period, they would combine four more goals and stay tied at 5 with goals from Hayden Colburn and Bostyn Duquette sending the teams to overtime. In the overtime there would be no answer from anyone and the game would end in a five-all tie. Gallery

The game would start well for the home hornets as they would get three goals in the first period from Mackenzie Brown, Rachel Madore, and Amanda Vaughn for the 3-0 lead after the first. In the second period, the Hornets would keep the hot scoring going as they would get three more goals coming from Ada Johnson, Sophia Gutierrez, and Mackenzie Brown for her second of the night to expand their lead to 6-0. With the game firmly in control, the Hornets would let up some in the third period but would still score three goals from Rachel Madore (2nd of the night), Mackenzie Brown (for her this and hat trick) and Sophia Guitterez would get her second of the night to secure the 9-0 win.
