It would be another classic rival game as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the crosstown Beekmantown Eagles at the high school gymnasium. The Eagles would get off to a flying start and take a 19-10 advantage through the first quarter. In the second quarter, it would be a moe eventually match defensive quarter as the Eagles would win the quarter 9-8 and take a 28-18 lead into intermission. When the teams came back from the break the Eagles would be hammer down and expand the lead and start to but the game away with a 14-5 quarter and have a 42-23 lead into the final stanza. In the final stanza, the Hornets would do their best to stay with the Eagles but that's all they could do as they would win the quarter 11-10 but the win would go to the Eagles at 53-33. In a losing effort, Liam Perkins for the Hornets would lead all scorers with fifteen points. Next up for the Hornets would be a road tilt against Northeastern Clinton while the Eagles also will have their next game against Northeastern Clinton but not till Friday, March 12th. Gallery

Adirondack's Olivia Leflesh (88) with the deke that hakes out the Oswego defender in the neutral zone and carries it in on the attack. It would be a little under 14 girls' hockey as the Adirondack 46ers would host the Oswego Buccaneers at the Malone Civic Center. The game would remain scoreless through the first 15 minutes as the teams were very evenly matched and the defenses were holding down the attacks of the teams. In the second period, it was starting to look more of the same until the last thirty seconds of the period when the 46ers would score on the Ashley Cromie goal to make it 1-0 46ers. The game would stay right there through the third period until the final three minutes when the 46ers would double their lead at 2-0 on the Anna Monette goal to secure the 2-0 victory. In the winning effort, the 46ers Kori Lynn Seymour would make 28 saves as they go to 12-2 on the season. It would be the first-ever North Lawrence Fire Department, Winter Bash, at the Snyder Motorsports. It would be a first for this reporter to take in a demolition derby and would different experience. It would be on the cooler side seeing that this was the first weekend in March but the community would come out to support the event along with the North Lawrence Fire Department and the Snyder Motorsports Park that hosted. There would be around 60 cars that show up from your basic 4 cylinders to stock and modified 8 cylinders and the popular trucks and van. When the mud and snow would settle the winner on the day would be the popular Joey Foster. With the success of the event, the plans are already in the works for the second Winter Bash. Gallery

It would be the middle game of a three-game series between crosstown rivals as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Beekmantown Eagles. The Eagles would strike first at the 3:19 mark of the first period on the Robert Tetreault goal. Then just over two minutes later the Eagles would light the lamp again and extend their lead to 2-0 on the powerplay goal from Dalton Kane. Then with just over four minutes left in the first period, the Eagles would strike again for their second powerplay goal this time from DJ Gonyo, and take the 3-0 lead into the first intermission. When the teams came back for the second period the Hornets wouldn't waste time in getting back in the game and making it a 3-1 game on the Jace Lacey goal. Then at the five-minute mark of the second period, the Eagles would extend their lead back to three on the Cooper Burdo 4 on 4 goals. That would be all the scoring throughout the game as there would be no scoring in the third period as the Eagles get the 4-1 victory. In the winning effort for the Eagles, Riley Hansen would make 25 saves as they go to 3-2 on the season while the Hornets fall to 1-4 on the season.Gallery.

It would be the start of the Upstate New York Girl's Hockey League season for both the Malone Huskies and the Plattsburgh Hornets from the Ameri-can North Rink in Plattsburgh, NY. The Hornets would get the opening goal of the game at just over a minute into the game from Madore to make it 1-0. Although the Huskies would shake off the rust and get back in the game and tie it up at 1-1 on the St. Mary goal. Then just over two minutes later the Hornets would regain the one-goal lead on the Boule goal and hold the lead to the end of the period. Then halfway through the second period, the Hornets would extend their lead to two goals at 3-1 on the Giroux goal. Then just 16 seconds later the Hornets would extend it to 4-1 on Boule's second goal of the night. The game would stay there till the final three minutes of the game on Boule's hat trick goal to secure the 5-1 victory. Gallery

It would be the classic section vii rivalry as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Peru Nighthawks in Boy's Basketball action. It would be a game that you could tell was an early-season tilt as the offense would have some miscues and the Hornets would have a low scoring 12-5 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the scoring would even be less as the defenses would step up as the Nighthawks would win the quarter at 5-4 but the Hornets would still have the lead at 16-10 at the half. When the teams would come back for the third quarter it would be tight with some extra scoring as the Hornets would win the quarter at 10-9 and extend their lead to 26-19. In the fourth quarter, the Hornets would get hot and pull away with an 18-9 quarter and secure the 44-27 victory. In the winning effort, Carter King would lead the way with 14 points and will be back in action Wednesday against Northeastern while Peru will be at home against Northern Adirondack. Gallery

Northeastern Clinton's Lucas Beard (17) fights through a pair of Plattsburgh's Ryan Knowles (24) and Bostyn Duquette (4) on the way to the net. It would be the third meeting of the week between the Northeastern Clinton Cougars and Plattsburgh Hornets this time at Ameri-can North Arena and the Hornets would be looking to get a win in the series. It would not start off very good for the Hornets as the Northeastern Clinton Cougars Sam Boulton just 14 seconds into the game to make it 1-0. Then the Cougars would strike again at the 4:50 mark of the first period on Sam Boulton's second goal of the game and take a 2-0 lead. Then just two minutes later at the 6:47 mark, the Cougars would score again to make it 3-0 on the Lucas Beard goal and that's where the first period would end. When the teams came back for the second period the Hornets would get on the board at the 1:40 mark on the Bostyn Duquette goal to make it 3-1. Then in the final 2 minutes of the second period, the Cougars would regain their three-goal lead at 4-1 on the Ryan Racine goal. In the third period, the Hornets would give themself hope as Jace Lacey would score at the 5:17 mark to make it a 4-2 game. Although just over two minutes later the Cougars would take the three-goal lead again at 5-2 on Lucas Beard's second goal of the game. Then in the closing minute of the game Cougars would put the icing on the cake on the Kai Britz goal to secure the 6-2 victory. In the winning effort, the Cougars would stay undefeated at 3-0 while the Hornets would fall to 0-3 still looking for that first win of the season. Next week the teams will be having three-game series again the Northeastern Clinton Cougars play the Saranac Chiefs and the Plattsburgh Hornets and Beekmantown Eagles meet up. Gallery.

It would finally be the return of Boy's High School Hockey as the start of the season was delayed by about three months because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The opening night game of the season would see the Beekmantown Eagles playing the Saranac Chiefs at Ameri-Can North Arena. The game would take some feeling out as there would be no scoring through the first period of the game. The lamp would finally get lit for the first time of the season at the 3:11 mark on the Saranac Chiefs goal by Nik Hamel for the 1-0 lead. The Eagles would keep fighting and at the 8:55 mark of the period, they would get the tying goal from Reid Fessette and would end the period tied at one. When the team hit the ice for the third period the tight contest would continue and the Chiefs would regain the 2-1 lead at the 353 marks on Nik Hamel's second goal of the night. Although the lead would be short-lived as Zach Lapier would tie the game back up at two under a minute later on the first high school goal of his career and the game would head to overtime tied at two. In that overtime frame, the Beekmantown Eagles would get their first lead of the game and it was the most important one as it would be a game-winner by DJ Gonyo to give them the 3-2 victory. In the winning effort, Riley Hansen would make 39 saves on the night as the Eagles start the season 1-0 and the Chiefs fall to 0-1 on a 35 save night by Macen Mero. The Northeastern Clinton boys hockey team kicked off its season in winning fashion, taking down Plattsburgh High School 8-0 Wednesday at the Rouses Point Civic Center. The way the game started from the Cougars certainly didn't foreshadow the victory to come, as sophomore forward Ryan Racine has assessed a cross-checking penalty just 47 seconds into the game. Northeastern Clinton killed the penalty, but it set the tone for a period in which they struggled to generate consistent offense. Plattsburgh nearly opened the scoring just before the midpoint of the second period on a 2-on-1 rush, junior Hayden Colburn looked to make the pass to senior Brandt Clarke across the crease. Cougars goaltender Ethan Garrand was able to cover the puck to end the opportunity. The scoreboard did change shortly after the ensuing faceoff, as the Cougars pushed up the ice and forward Sam Bulson found the back of the net with 8:01 remaining in the first period. That lead was doubled in the final minute of the period, as Lucas Bedard stole the puck in the neutral zone and skated in alone on goal. With only a two-minute break between periods, Northeastern Clinton was able to ride the momentum of that late goal into the second period. Reid LaValley scored 49 seconds into the period to bring the score to 3-0. It was far from the last, as the Cougars scored five times in the second. Thomas Richard stopped the clock at the 6:42 mark of the period with a shot from the left hash marks off a feed from below the goal line by Noah Gonyo. The Cougar's next two goals came within a single minute on the game clock, though the gap in real-time was much larger, as Lucas and Marcus Bedard scored on either side of a mid-period intermission for the only ice cut of the game. Lucas Bedard carried the puck into the zone through the right faceoff circle and appeared to be looking to pass it across before surprising Hornets goaltender Ty Calkins with a no-look shot up high. After the break, Marcus Bedard scored on a low shot through traffic from the blue line to reach an emphatic 6-0 margin. Owen Roberts scored in the final minute of the period before Marcus Bedard notched the only tally of the third. The shutout was put to the test late, as a pair of roughing penalties put the home team down 5-on-3 in the dying minutes of the game, but Garrand held his ground. Garrand stopped all 29 shots he faced in the game, with Calkins stopped 30 in the loss for the Hornets. The two Bedard's led with two goals each in the game, while LaValley recorded a goal and two assists, and Winnie Simpson was credited with three assists. Gallery.

Boquet Valley's Brandon Tromblee (goalie) comes up and makes the running save on the Eagles shot. It would be a familiar place for the Chazy Eagles as they would be back in the Section VII Class D Championship only thing different would be their opennet as they would host the Boquet Valley Griffins for the title. The Eagles would play their game and get the opening goal of the game in the 26th minute from Tanners Conners to take the 1-0 lead. Then in the 32nd minute of the game, the Eagles would expand on their lead at 2-0 with the Riley Hansen goal. Then in the 39th minute, Riley Hansen would strike again to make it 3-0. In the second half of the game, the Griffins would step up their defense and hold them off the scoring sheet although the Griffins had no answer. As the Eagles would hold on for the 3-0 victory and secure the 2020 Section VII Class D Boy's Championship unfortunately with the COVID-19 Pandemic going on this would be the end of their season.
