The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would return home to start the 2025 home portion of their season with a game inside the SUNYAC and also a matchup between top ten teams as the #7 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #6 Oswego State Lakers in the first of a pair of games on the weekend at the field house. The game would be evenly matched for the first 30 minutes as neither team could light the lamp, but not for not having chances on the net. The Cardinals would finally break through on the powerplay at 10:35 when Mattie Norton sliced it through the defenders for the 1-0 lead. In the second quarter, the Lakers would take control of the game with a 5-2 quarter to take the 9-3 lead at the half on a pair of Cardinals goals from Caitlin Nash and Erica Dickinson. When the teams would return for the second half the Lakers would shut down the Cardinals with a 9-0 half for the 18-3 Lakers win. Although the game would not start the right way for the home Cardinals the Lakers would get the opening goal of the game with 7:41 left in the opening period on the Shane Bull powerplay goal. The game would stay there til the early stages of the second period when the Lakers would extend the lead to 2-0 just 1:16 on the Brock Krulicki. The Cardinals would keep fighting and get the game back within one just three minutes later on the Lonan Bulger powerplay goal to make it a 2-1 game. The Lakers would retake the two-goal lead at the 12:31 mark of the second period on the Daniel Colabufo goal to make it 3-1. Once again the Cardinals would get it to a one-goal game at 3-2 with under 90 seconds left in the period on the Bennett Stockdale goal. However, it would be short-lived as the Lakers would score just 18 seconds later on the Tyler Flack goal to make it a 4-2 Lakers to end the second period.
