Plattsburgh State's Luk Jirousek (29) battles for the puck in the corner in the offensive zone with an Oswego defender and Marcus Mitchell. t would be the classic SUNYAC contest as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Oswego State Lakers in front of 1600 fans with the early season lead on the line. The game would start well for the Cardinals as Bennett Stockdale would get the opener with 3:44 left in the period to make it 1-0 and let the return of the tennis ball commence as they would come a flying from the stands. Then riding the surge from the goal just two minutes later the Cardinals would strike on the power play from Carson Gallagher to make it 2-0 cardinals. The Lakers would fight back in the second period and get on the board at the 5:26 mark to make it 2-1 on the Tyler Antonucci goal. Then at the 12:48 mark of the period, the Lakers would get the equalizer from Alex Dicarlo to make it 2-2. That is where the game would stay through the rest of the period and the third and overtime for a 2-2 tie. With the tie, Anthony Del Tufo would make 26 saves on 28 shots as they go to 2-1-1 on the season. Next up for the Cardinals would be a road tilt against the Brockport State Golden Eagles. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Carson Gallagher (28) comes in on the breakaway in overtime looking for the winner. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Cortland State Red Dragons in the opener of SUNYAC play for the season. The opener would be a shootout as the Red Dragons would get the first two goals on the game in the first eight minutes from Johnny Facchini and Nate Berke. Although the Cardinals would get on the board at the 12:51 mark of the period on Johnny Mancuso's goal and that's where the first period would end. In the second period, the teams would trade a pair of goals with Ethan Homitz and Sutter Donegan scoring for the Red Dragons while Joey Mancuso would get a pair and the hat trick on the night. Although the cardinals would enter the third period trailing 4-3. The Red Dragons would strike early in the third period on the Domenic Settimo goal to make it a 5-3 game. The Cardinals would answer back at the 11:48 mark to make it a one-goal game on the Jake Lanyi goal. Then with just about 2:30 left in the game, the Cardinals would tie the game up at 5 on the Bennett Stockdale goal and that's where the game would stay and force overtime. In the overtime you would see the NCAA's new overtime rule as it would be 3x3 and in that the Cardinals would get the game-winner with 1:30 left on Bennett Stockdale's second of the night. In the winning effort, Anthony Del Tufo would make 34 saves as they go to 2-1 on the season while Cortland State falls to 1-1 on the season. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals celeberate as they get the game winner in overtime. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Cortland State Red Dragons in the openner of SUNYAC play for the season. Section X Division II Boy's Hockey Malone Huskies Vs Tupper Lake Lumberjacks February 12 2013

Malone's Joey Brown (30) sticks out the toe for the save on the low shot that was labeled for the bottom corner on the shot from Tupper Lake's Bryce Guerette (9). The Malone Huskies would host the Tupper Lake Lumberjacks in Section X Division II action it would be Senior Night in Malone. The game would remain scoreless until the 8:14 mark of the second period when Malone's Tanner Studlack would light the lamp on the power play goal. The Huskies would score again on the power play at 12:46 of the second period when Cameron Daniels gets the goal. That would end the scoring for the night as the Huskies get the 2-0 win. The key to the Huskies win would be there ability to score on the power play. With the win the Huskies finish the regular season at 8-11-1. In the winning effort Malone Joey Brown would stop all fourteen shots to record the shutout. Gallery

NCAA Division 3 Men's Hockey #3 Plattsburgh State Cardinals Vs Castleton State Spartans January 11 2014 January 14th 2020

Plattsburgh State's Michael Cassidy (26) with the quick wrister into the body of the goalie. The #3 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Castleton State Spartans in a nonconference game as they would welcome back former assistant Steve Moffit. The game would remain scoreless until the last two minutes of the first when Castleton's Charles Bando would give the Spartans the 1-0 lead. The Cardinals would answer back at 3:42 of the second period and tie the game at one on Michael Radisa's goal. The Cardinals would then take the 2-1 lead at 7:35 of the second the short-handed goal. The Cardinals would extend the lead to 3-1 on Graham Yeo's first college goal at 11:35. Then two minutes later Alex Jensen would get his second goal of the night for the 4-1 lead. Then at 6:26 of the third Michael Cassidy would get into the scoring act as the Cardinals take the 5-1 lead. Then in the final 30 seconds of game Alex Jensen would finish off the hat trick as the Cardinals cruised to the 6-1 win. In the winning effort, Matthieu Cardieux would 23 saves as the Cardinals go to 12-1-2. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Jakob Engvall (2) with the crunching hit along the boards on the Morrisville State defender. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Morrisville State Mustangs in SUNYAC play. The Mustangs would take the early lead at 1-0 at 8:27 of the first period. In the second period the Cardinals offense would come alive and score three goals from Cole Stallard and Cam Owens twice and the Mustangs would add one as the Cardinals lead 3-2 after the second period. In the third period, the teams would combine for seven goals getting the goals for the Cardinals are Ayrton Valente, Kyle Hall (twice), Joe Drabin as the Cardinals would hold on for the 7-5 victory. In the winning effort, Brady Rouleau would make 21 saves as the Cardinals go to 9-8 on the season. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Jesse Nehr (22) looks to extend the lead on an open net but it goes just wide. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Fredonia State Blue Devils in SUNYAC action in the home finale of the season. The game would be tight throughout and remain scoreless until 11:33 of the second period when the Blue Devils score to take a 1-0 lead. The Cardinals would tie the game up with 4 minutes remaining left in the second period on Rich McCartney's goal. Then at the 3:40 mark of the third period, the Cardinals would score twice in 20 seconds to make it 3-1 on Jesse Nehr and Rich McCartney's goal. The Blue Devils would score at the 12-minute mark on a penalty shot to cut the lead in half at 3-2. Then in the closing minute of the game, Aryton Valente would score the empty netter to secure the 4-2 victory. In the winning effort, Lawson Fenton would make 37 saves as the Cardinals go to 12-11 on the season. Gallery

It would be the last game of the regular season and the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would be in a must-win situation as they hosted the Morrisville State Mustangs in the second game of the weekend series if they wanted to make the playoffs. With that being said the home fans would come out in force to root on the Cardinals as 1500 would pack the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena. Although the game would not start off good for the Cardinals as the Mustangs would get the opening goal of the game just 5:34 into the first period from Christian Vella. The game would remain there all the way till the 5th minute of the second period when the Cardinals would get on the broad to tie the game at 1 on the Mitchell Hale goal. Then in the final three minutes of the second, the Cardinals would take the lead at 2-1 on the Liam Lawson goal. Then just 33 seconds into the third period the Cardinals would extend there lead to 3-1 on the Joe Kile goal. Then in the 11th minute, the Cardinals would start to salt the game away as Andrew Pizzo would score to make it a 4-1 lead. Then with under four minutes left in the game, the Cardinals would put the final touches on the win with the Christian Dahl goal for the 5-1 win. In the winning effort, the Cardinals would secure there spot in the playoffs as they get the #5 seed and will play the Brockport State Golden Eagles in the opening round of the SUNYAC playoffs.
