It would be the season opener for the Plattsburgh State Cardinals as they would take on fellow North Country team in the Clarkson Golden Knights. The game would be tight throughout the first half as the home Cardinals would have a slim 31-29 lead at the end of the half. When the teams came back for the second half the game would remain close as the Cardinals would win the half 45-41 and take the 76-71 victory. In the winning effort Kevin Tabb would lead the way with a 19 point night as they go to 1-0 on the season. Gallery

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football Class B Finals: #1 Peru Nighthawks Vs #2 Beekmantown Eagles November 5th 2022

It would be the classic rivalry inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class B as the #1 Peru Nighthawks would meet up with the #2 Beekmantown Eagles as they decide who heads to the New York State Class B Football tournament and take on the upset minded Massena Red Raiders, The Nighthawks would get the scoring going in the first quarter with a 9 yard run by Jack Hanson for the 7-0 lead. Later in the quarter the Nighthawks and Jack Hanson would score again this time from 30 yards and take the 14-0 lead. They would end the quarter with there third score of the quarter this time to Keith Parent from 32 yards out and have a 21-0 lead to end the quarter. In the second quarter the Nighthawks would get another score this time a 17 yard pass to Jack Hanson for his third score of the game. When the teams came back from the locker rooms for the third quarter the Nighthawks would stay on the gas and expand there lead to 34-0 on Jack Hanson's four touchdown of the night. In the fourth quarter the Nighthawks would put the final nail in the coffin on the game as Jack Hanson would get his fifth score of the game this time from 3 yards out for the 41-0 lead. In the final minutes of the game the Eagles would get on the board to avoid the shutout on a 12 yard run by Louis Sweenor and they would get the 2 point conversion to make it a 41-8 game. That would end the game and the Peru Nighthawks would be get the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class B 2022 title. With the win the Nighthawks continue there undefeated season at 9-0 while the Beekmantown Eagles season will come to a close at 5-4. Gallery

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football Class D Finals: #1 Moriah Vikings Vs #2 Ticonderoga Sentinels November 5th 2022

Moriah's Riley Demarias (8) walks it in the endzone with one of his three touchdowns on the afternoon. It would be the traditional Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class D Championship as the #1 Moriah Vikings would take on the #2 Ticonderoga Sentinels. The Vikings would start off the scoring with a Riley Demarais 8 yard run touchdown run for the 6-0 lead and that is how the first quarter would end. The Vikings would be able to extend there lead to 14-0 on Riley Demarias second score of the game 1:19 into the second quarter on a 44 yard run. Then with just under four minutes left in the half Riley Demarias would get his third score of the half on a six yard run and take a 22-0 lead into the locker room. When the teams returned for the second half the Vikings would let off the pedal and coast it through the rest of the game as Logan Gilbo would get a couple scores in the second half to secure the 38-0 victory. In the winning effort the Moriah Vikings win another Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class D title and advance to the New York State Class D Tournament where they will meet up with the section one winner as they go to 8-1 on the season and the Ticonderoga Sentinels season comes to end at 0-8 Gallery

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football Class C Finals: #1 Saranac Chiefs Vs #2 Saranac Lake Red Storm November 4th 2022

Saranac Lake's Connor Hewitt (23) steps in front of Saranac's Landon Smith (14) for the first down catch as he is falling backwards. It would be a battle of the Saranac's as the top 2 seeds would meet in the championship of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class with the Satanac Chiefs and Saranac Lake Red Storm as the Red Storm would look to avenge there overtime defeat from earlier in the season. The Chiefs would get the opening score of the game in the final minute of the opening quarter on a six yard pass to Patrick Clancey and they would take the 7-0 lead. In the final minute of the half the Red Storm would score on a 37 yard pick six from Evan Willetts although they would miss the extra point and the Chiefs would hold the 7-6 lead. It wouldn't be long though as the Chiefs would extend there lead to 14-6 on a 41 yard fumble recovery from Bryce Deangleo and that's where the game would stand as they head into the intermission. The Red Storm would keep fighting though and they would answer right back just 1:27 into the third quarter on Markus Navarra 14 yard touchdown pass and make it a 14-12 Chiefs lead. Although just over a minute later the Chiefs would answer back on a 58 yard touchdown run by Landon Duprey and extend the lead to 21-12. That would be where the game would stand till the 2:32 mark of the fourth quarter when Landon Duprey would get his second rushing touchdown of the night this time from six yards out and extend the lead to 29-12. Then in the closing part of the game the Chiefs would seal the game as Dylan Cogswell would recover the fumble and take it to the house for the score and secure the 36-12 victory. With the win the Saranac Chiefs advance to the New York State Class C Football tournament and will take on the Gouverneur Wildcats while the Saranac Lake Red Storm season will come to end at 4-5. It would be the semifinals of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class C Semi-finals as the #2 Saranac Lake Red Storm would host the #3 Ausable Valley Patriots with the winner getting the #1 Saranac Chiefs in the section VII Class C Finals on November 4th. The Red Storm would waste no time in getting the first score of the game just 1:54 into the game on a 12 yard run by Connor Hewitt for the 7-0 lead. The with just 29 seconds left in the quarter the Red Storm would strike again this time with a nine yard run by Landon LaDue and take the 14-0 lead. The Patriots would have an answer in the second quarter in a 8 yard pass to Korvin Dixon 3:39 into the quarter to make it a 14-7 game. Although with just 18 seconds left in the first half the Red Storm would strike again with a six yard pass to Connor Hewitt for his second touchdown of the game and take the 14 point lead at 21-7. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Red Storm would take little time and extending there lead to 28-7 just 1:06 in on a 27 yard run by Connor Hewitt for third score on the day. Then 3:47 into the fourth quarter the Red Storm would put the icing on the cake with a five yard run by Connor Hewitt for his 4th touchdown on the day. In the winning effort the Red Storm go to 4-4 on the season and will play the Saranac Chiefs for the section VII Class C title while the Ausable Valley Patriots season comes to end at 3-6. Gallery

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football Class B Playoffs: #3 Plattsburgh Hornets @ #2 Beekmantown Eagles October 28th 2022

Plattsburgh's Rueglson Filsonca (5) with the catch along the sidelines of the endzone for the score. It would be the semifinals of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class B Football playoffs and #3 Plattsburgh Hornets would head to Beekmantown and take on the number #2 Eagles with the winner getting a matchup with the undefeated Peru Nighthawks next week in the Class B finals. The game would start off good for the home Eagles as they would get the first score 6:45 into the first quarter on a seven yard run from Louis Sweenor for the 7-0 lead. Although the Hornets would answer right back on a 61 yard break out run by Trenton Griffiths just a minute later and tie the game at seven. Then with just over two minutes left in the game the Eagles would retake the lead on a seventeen yard run by Louis Sweenor for his second of the game. Although the Hornets were not going to go away easy as they march right back down field and tie the game up again at 14 on a one yard run by Trenton Griffiths. The Eagles would take the lead for the third time on a fifteen yard run by Louis Sweenor for his third score of the half with 3:15 left in the half. Then in the closing minute of the half the Eagles would double there lead at 28-14 on the six yard run by Connor Barber. When the teams returned for the third quarter the Hornets would score three minutes into make it a one score game again on Michael Phillips three yard run. Then at halfway mark of the third quarter the Eagles would make it a two score game again on Connor Baber's second score of the game and a 34-20 game. Then with four minutes left in the quarter the Eagles would score again on Louis Sweenor's fourth of the game and make it a 41-20 game. In the closing minute of the third quarter the Hornets would score on a touchdown pass to Riguelson Filosca and make it a 41-28 game. Although just two minutes into the fourth quarter the Eagles would score again to put the game out of reach on the 4 yard sneak from Nathan Parliment and make it 48-28 game. Then with three minutes left in the game the Eagles would put the icing on the cake with a three yard run by Oliver Lacombe to secure the 55-28 victory. In the winning effort the Eagles go to 5-3 on the season and will play the Peru Nighthawks for the Section VII Class B title on November 5th while the Plattsburgh Hornets season comes to end at 1-8. Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football Week 7: Plattsburgh Hornets @ Ausable Valley Patriots

It would be the last week of the regular season in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference and it would be a match up of one win teams as the Ausable Valley Patriots would host the Plattsburgh Hornets on hall of fame night for the Patriots. It would be a defensive game as both teams were fighting for field possession advantage and there would be no scoring in the first quarter. The Hornets would break the scoreless game four minutes into the second quarter on a 33 yard run by Trenton Griffiths for the 6-0 Hornets lead and thats where the game would end the first half at. Although the Patriots would come out in the third quarter hunger and they would get on the board just over half way through the third quarter on a 16 yard run by Dylan Bombard and take the 7-6 lead. That is where the same would stay till the closing stages of the 4th quarter when the Patriots and Dylan Bombard would strike again on a 1 yard run to extend the lead to 14-6 and from there the defense would hold strong and secure the Patriots win and go to 3-5 on the season while the Hornets fall to 1-7. With the win the Patriots will head into there CVAC Class C Semifinals game next week looking to upset the Saranac Lake Red Storm with the right to go to the Class C Finals on the line. While the Plattsburgh Hornets will head to Beekmantown and take on the Eagles in the CVAC Class B Semifinals with the right to take on the Peru Nighthawks in the finals on the line. Gallery

Moriah's Bode Valentine (33) takes it around the edge and beats Peru's Zack O'Conell (5) to the edge for the first down. It would be the game of the season in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as it would be a pair of unbeaten as the #12 Peru Nighthawks would host the #3 Moriah Vikings with the winner being crowned the regular season champion. The game would start off good for the home Nighthawks as they would break the game open in the first quarter on a 53 yard run by Jack Hanson for the 7-0 lead. In the second quarter the Nighthawks would extend there lead to 14-0 on Jack Hanson second touchdown of the game this time from 6 yard out and thats where the first half would end. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Nighthawks would strike again at the 6:12 mark on Jack Hanson third score of the game this time from 22 yards away and take the 21-0 lead. With that the defense would shut the Vikings down the rest of the game and get the 21-0 win and stay undefeated at 7-0 while the Vikings fall to 6-1 on the season. Also with the win the Peru Nighthawks have clinched the 2022 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference title. Gallery

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football Week 4 Beekmantown Eagles @ Saranac Chiefs

Beekmantown's Patrick Hagadorn (81) with the catch along the sidelines although Saranac's Senastian Dandrow-Pellerin (12) would push him out for the incompletion. It would be the fourth week of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference in what would be the game of the week as the Saranac Chiefs hosting the Beekmantown Eagles. It would be a game that would defense driven as both teams were not breaking on the field. There would be no scoring through the first quarter. The Chiefs would get on the board with 4:30 left in the half on a 34 yard feild goal by Nathan Hamel and take a 3-0 lead. Then lead would be short lived as the Eagles would strike on there next drive with a 41 yard touchdown pass to Peyton Viau for the 7-3 lead and thats where the game would stay till the half. Although the Chiefs would come out of the locker room and answer just 1:47 into the third quarter to take a 10-7 lead on a 4 yard run by Nathan Hamel. Then at the five minute mark of the third quarter the Hamel would strike again this time from 57 yards for a 17-7 lead. Then on the Eagles next drive they would get it back to a one score game on a 5 yard run by Nathan Parliment to make it a 17-14 game. From there the defenses on both side would step up and game would end there with the Chiefs getting the win to go to 4-1 while the Eagles fall to 1-4 on the season. Gallery

Moriah's Riley Demarais (8) runs straight ahead and run's over Plattsburgh's Riguelson Filosca (5) as he goes in for the score. It would be week 4 of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference and the Moriah Vikings would travel up to Plattsburgh and take on the Hornets. The Vikings would show way they are the number 3 in the state as they would get the first score of the game at the 5:41 mark of the first quarter on a 9 yard run by Riley Demarais for the 6-0 lead. Then at the 8:13 mark of the first quarter the Vikings would extend there lead to 14-0 on a 44 yard run by Brady Olcott. In the second quarter the Vikings would break the game wide open with three scores on Riley Demarais second score of the game on a 4 yard run, Boden Valentine 2 yard run and a 28 yard fumble recovery by Rowan Swan and take a 36-0 lead into the intermission. When the teams came back for the second half you could tell the Vikings had turned down the wick as they would get a lone score from Keegan Callahan. While the Hornets would get on the board late in the game on a run by Trenton Griffiths. With the Vikings would secure the 43-6 win and stay undefeated at 4-0 while the Hornets fall to 0-5 on the season. Gallery
