The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would get a sweep of Oneonta State Red Dragons by scores of 8-0 and 4-0. In the second game the Cardinals would do all there scoring in the opening inning. In the winning effort, the Cardinals Ashley Marshall would strike out the 12. As the Cardinals get the sweep they would improve 14-5 on the season. Gallery

SUNYAC Baseball: Plattsburgh State Cardinals Vs New Paltz Hawks March 24 2012

Plattsburgh State's Pat Shaughnessy (22) with the sliding stop at second base for the out. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would split a doubleheader with the New Paltz Hawks. The Hawks would win the opener 5-0. Then the Cardinals would come from behind to game two 3-2. In the first game, it would be scoreless until the seventh inning when the Hawks would strike for five runs and hold on for the win. Then in the second game, the Cardinals would get the early 1-0 lead on Damian Tyler's Sacrifice Fly scoring Kris Cauchon. The Hawks would gain the lead 2-1 with two runs in the third inning. Where the score would remain until the eighth inning when the Cardinals would two runs. The game would be tied to Mike Vaques RBI single. Then the game-winner would come on Pedro Gonzalez's RBI single. In the winning effort, Marc Plante would go seven strong innings giving up 2 runs scattering 9 hits and striking out 3. With the split, the Cardinals improve to 11-7 overall and 4-2 in the SUNYAC's. Gallery

SUNYAC Semi-Finals: #2 Plattsburgh State Cardinals Vs #3 Buffalo State Bengals February 25 2012

Plattsburgh State's Mark Constantine (24) battles for the puck along the broads. He would get the game-winner in the third overtime. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would defeat the Buffalo State Bengals 4-3 in three overtimes to advance to the conference finals in the 2nd longest division III hockey game in history. The Cardinals would take the 1-0 lead three minutes into the second period on Jake Monney's goal. Then Jared Dockings would extend the lead to 2-0 with 9 minutes left in the second period. The Bengals would cut the lead in half with 4 minutes left in the period to 2-1. The Cardinals would take the 2 goal lead back with 2 minutes left in the third period on Patrick Jobb's goal. In the third period, the Bengals would get two goals including one with the extra attacker to sends us to overtime tied at 3. That is where the score would remain till Mark Constantine would send the home fans home happy with his goal 11 minutes into the third overtime on the 71st shot of the night. In the winning effort, Mathieu Cadieux would stop 38 of 41 shots on net. With the win, the Cardinals advance to the SUNYAC Championship next weekend at Oswego. Gallery

Saranac's Zach Lareau (35) reaches across and behind to cover the puck before it crosses the line. The Malone Huskies would defeat the Saranac Chiefs 1-0. The game would be a great game all the way through with both teams getting there chances. The lone goal would come with 7 minutes remaining in the game when Shawn Nulverhill lite the lamp. This would be a very important win for the team as it would give Coach Chuck Dievendorf his 300th career victory. With the win, the Malone Huskies finish there regular season at 2-18. Gallery

Arch Rivals the Chateaugay Bulldogs would host the Madrid-Waddington Yellow Jackets in the last game of the season with the East Division crown on the line. The game would be a rough and tumble hard-fought game throughout that would never get bigger than a ten-point difference. The game would be tied at 11 after the first and 21 at the break. before the Yellow Jackets would prevail with the 46-44 victory. With the Yellow Jackets win them and the Bulldogs would be crowned co-east champs. The Bulldogs finish the season at 17-1 overall and 11-1 in the division. Leading the way would be Michael Boyea with 20 points. Gallery

Although in the third period the Cardinals would get two goals from Ashton Hogan and Jenny Kistner to secure the 3-1 victory. In the winning effort coach, Kevin Houle would get a career win 200.
