Plattsburgh State's Jordan Caldwell (27) battles for the loose puck in the crease. It would be a match up of two of the top 5 teams in the nation. As the #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #5 Norwich Cadets in non-conference action. The Cadets would take the early lead on Kayla Parson's power play goal at 5:46 of the first period. That is where the game would remain until the 10 minute mark of the second periods when the Cadets would connect on Tori Charron goal to make it 2-0 Cadets. Then with just 11 seconds remaining in the 2nd periods the Cardinals would get on the board with Shannon Stewarts power play goal. Then just a minute and half into the third period the Cardinals would tie it up on Teal Groves goal to make it 2-2. Then in the 13th minute of the third the Cardinals would take the lead on Ali Vakos goal to make it 3-2. Then just over a minute later the Cardinals would strike again on Mia Favretto's goal to close out the Cadets and take the 4-2 win. In the winning effort Sydney Aveson would stop 14 of 16 shots. As the Cardinals remain undefeated at 11-0-1. Gallery

ECAC West Women's Hockey #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals Vs Utica Pioneers January 22nd 2017

Plattsburgh State's Mackenize Millen (11) battles for the lose puck along the end boards. The #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Utica Pioneers on the second game of weekend doubleheader in ECAC West play. The game would remain scoreless through the first period and the Pioneers would take the 1-0 lead a minute into the second period. The Cardinals would fight back and tie the game at one Kayla Meneghin goal. Then the Cardinals would take the 2-1 lead at the four minute mark of third on Kayla Meneghin shorthanded goal. Then in the final minute of the game Megan Crandell would add the empty netter to secure the 3-1 victory. In the winning effort Camille Leonard would make 14 saves as the Cardinals go to 16-1 on the season. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Melisa Ames (24) gets the goal of the rebound above goalies shoulder. The #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Utica Pioneers in ECAC West action. The Cardinals would open the scoring at 3:20 of the first period on the Sarah Wolfe goal to make it 1-0. Then at the 7:57 mark of the 1st period, the Cardinals would extend the lead to 2-0 on the Megan Crandell goal. Then under a minute later the Cardinals would make it 3-0 on the Melissa Ames goal. The Cardinals would add one more in the 1st period on the Meghan Kraus goal to make it 4-0. The Pioneers would get on the board near the need of the first to make it 4-1 Cardinals after the 1st period. That is where the game would stay until the 9-minute mark of the third when the Pioneers would score to make it 4-2. Then just over two minutes later the Cardinals would regain there three-goal lead at 5-2 on Ashley Songin goal. Then at the 13:17 mark of the third, the Cardinals would end there scoring on the Mackenize Millen goal to secure the 6-2 victory. In the winning effort, Camille Leonard would make 17 saves as the Cardinals go to 15-1 on the season. Gallery

The game would start out slow for the Cardinals as they have a 1-0 lead after one on Melissa Sheeran's goal. In the second period, the Cardinals would find there groove as they would score twice from Melissa Sheeran (second goal) and Erin Brand. In the third period, the offense would continue with two goals from Melissa Sheeran (third goal) and Mackenize Millen for the 5-0 victory. Plattsburgh State's Melissa Sheeran (26) slides in front of the goal and put the puck in the back of the net for the goal. It would be a clash of a pair of top 10 teams in ECAC-West action. The Cardinals would start off hot and not look back as they would get three goals in the first period from Meghan Kraus, Melissa Sheehan, and Kayla Meneghin for the 3-0 lead. In the second period, the Cardinals would add three more goals from Jordan Lipton (twice) and Katelyn Turk for the 6-0 lead. In the third period, the teams would trade a pair of goals with the Cardinal goal coming from Kayla Meneghin shorthand goal second of the night as the Cardinals would hold on for the 7-1 victory. In the winning effort, Cammie Leonard would stop 22 as the Cardinals go to 5-0 on the season. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Camille Leonard (32) with the glove save on the low shot as part of a ten save night. The #1 ranked Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Cortland State Red Dragons in ECAC West action. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would get the lone goal in the first period on Kayla Meneghin's short-handed goal at the 4:32 mark. The game would stay there until the 6:09 mark of the second period when Karen Hudson would score to make it 2-0. Then the Cardinals would end the second period with a couple of power-play goals from Courtney Molarity and Jordan Lipson to make it 4-0 after the second period. The Red Dragons would get on the board at 2:28 of the third period to make it 4-1. Then at 6:02 of the third period, the Cardinals would regain the four-goal lead on a power-play goal by Melissa Ames. Then to finish out the scoring the Cardinals would get a pair of goals in under a minute from Ashley Songin and Courtney Molarity (second of the night) to secure the 7-1 victory. It would be a non-conference affair between top ten teams as the #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #7 Middlebury Panthers. The game would remain scoreless until the first minute of the second period when Mellisa Sheeran would light the lamp to give the Cardinals the 1-0 lead. The Cardinals would extend the lead to 2-0 at the eight-minute mark Kayla Meneghain. The game would stay there till the last minute of the game when Kayla Meneghain would get her second goal of the night on the empty net. As the Cardinals would secure the 3-0 victory. In the winning effort, Cammie Leonard would make 16 saves for the shutout as the Cardinals would go to 12-0 on the season. Gallery

The #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Oswego State Lakers in ECAC West action at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena. The Cardinals would take the early lead at 5:29 of the first period on the Melissa Ames goal to make it 1-0. Them at the 13:59 mark of the first period Giovanna Sense would put it top shelf to make it 2-0 Cardinals. The game would remain there all the way til 1:42 of the third period Kayla Meneghin would score on the wrap-around goal to make it 3-0. Then at 15:54 of the third period Kayla Meneghin would get her second of the night to secure the 4-0 victory. Plattsburgh State's Camillie Leonard (31) with the pad save for one of her 30 saves on the night. It would be a battle of the top two teams in the nation for the Cardinal/Panther Classic Championship as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals and Elmira Soaring Eagles would do battle. The Cardinals would take the 1-0 lead with 4:12 left in the first period on Caitlin Gilligain's goal. Then at the 10:23 mark of the second period, the Eagles would tie the game up at one on Johanna Eidensten's goal. Then just 12 seconds into the third period Shannon Stewart would score on the powerplay to make it 2-1 Cardinals. Then just over three minutes, the Cardinals would extend the lead to 3-1 on Melissa Sheeran's goal. Then another three minutes later Cardinal's Mia Favretto would score to make it 4-1. The Soaring Eagles would add a late goal to make it 4-2 but it would not be enough as the Cardinals would get the 4-2 win and go to 8-0-2 on the season. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Ally Ross (32) with the stick on the scoring try during the shootout. In the semi-finals of the Cardinal/Panthers classic we would have a battle of two of the top four teams in the nation as #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #4 Gustuvas Adolphus Yellow Jackets. The Cardinals would get the lone goal of the first period just a 1:28 in on Melissa Sheeran's goal to make it 1-0 after the 1st period. Then at the 5:53 mark of the second period the Carddinals would make it 2-0 Mia Favretto's goal. The Yellow Jackets would come back and make it 2-1 at the 10:33 mark of the second period. Then at the 17:32 mark of the second period the Cardinals would regain the two goal lead on Bridget Bailsey's goal to make it 3-1. Then at the 9:03 mark of the third period the Cardinals would extend there lead to 4-1 the Andreas Zeissman goal. However the Yellow Jackets would come charging back getting three goals in a 4 minute span to send the game to overtime tied at four. In the overtime there would be no scoring so the game would offically go down as a tie but seeing that it was a tournament they went to shootout and the Cardinals would win it in the 4th round to head to the Championship and go to 7-0-2 on the season.
