The Airborne Speedway Padres would finish off the Meron's Expos by beating them 2-0 to advance to the championship next week. The only scoring in the game would come in the fourth inning of a two rbi double by Jeff Norton. The Padres would play stellar defense throughout the day to keep the shutout in tack. In the winning effort, Frank Brogna would strike out six while going the complete game for the win. With the win, Padres will be playinging the Lyon Mountain Miners in the best two out of three series for the championship.

Airborne Speedway's Zack Meyers (27) slides in head first at the plate and scores as the Athletics catcher loses the ball. The Airborne Speedway Padres would defeat Fourth Ward Athletics 10-2. The game would start at Saranac High School where they played the top of the first. Then the rains would come and cause an hour-long rain delay. Where the field was determined to be unplayable so the game was moved to South Acres in Plattsburgh. The game would remain close through the opening six with Padres getting singles runs in the 2nd, 4th and 5th and Athletics would get one in the third to make it 3-1. Then in late innings, the Padres bats would come alive getting 7 runs in the last three innings with the big blow coming from Joey Painter's three-run homer. With the win Padres advance to Semi-Finals where they will play either the Expos or Miners.

Airborne Speedway's Matt Rivers (88) gives the pitch everything he has for the strike. The Fourth Ward Timberjaxxs would defeat the Airborne Speedway Padres 14-5. The game would start off well for the Padres as they would take the 1-0 lead after the first. Then in the second, they would get four more on a grand slam from Mark Eggleston to take the 5-0 lead. From there on out the Timberjaxxs would get fourteen unanswered runs. The big dagger in the heart would come in the third when they would score nine runs as the Padres pitches were having problems located the plate. With the win the Timberjaxxs finish the season at 4-11 and as the Padres go to 7-8. Gallery

The Mariners would add three more in the third and four in the fourth for 14-4 victory. In the winning effort, Logan Recore would go the distance striking out four and giving four hits and four runs. The Airborne Speedway Padres would sweep a doubleheader over the Fourth Ward Athletics by scores of 15-0 and 14-11. In-game one the Athletics would have no answer for Matt Rivers has would go the complete game striking out three and giving up just two hits. The Padres would score early and often as they would get two in the first, one in second to make it 3-0. Then in the third, the Padres would explode for five runs including a three-run homer from Joey Painter to make it 8-0. Then in the fifth, the Padres would finish it off with a seven-spot as the Athletics pitcher was having problems locating the plate for the 15-0 final. Then in game two, they would trade runs in the first to make it 1-1. The Padres would take the 2-1 lead after two. Then in the third A's would come back and tie the game at 3. Then in the fourth, the Padres would take 10-5 lead on the seven-run inning on the strength of Nick Desrochers and Mark Eggleston's back to back home runs. In the fifth, the A's would trim the lead to two runs at 11-9 on the strength of a four-run inning. Then the teams would trade runs over the remaining innings to make the final 14-11 Getting the win in relief was Matt Rivers. The first game of the day would be tight through and the Cardinals would just come up better with the timely hitting. In-game 2 the Padres would hold a 6-1 lead heading into the sixth inning and then wheels would just fall off as errors would kill them in the remaining two innings and give up seven runs. Malone would answer back with two in the bottom of the inning to make it 5-3. Then in the sixth the teams would trade runs to make it 6-4. Airborne Speedway's Nick Derochsers (7) extends completely out to save the ball from going to the outfield. The Airborne Speedway Padres would sweep a doubleheader with the Meron's Expos 9-0 & 12-0. In-game 1 it would be close at 2-0 until when the bats would explode for 6 runs to make it 8-0. Then to finish off the game the Padres would add one more to make it 9-0 for the victory. The story of the game would be Frank Brogna as he would go the complete game strikeout twelve and give up no hits for the no-hitter. In-game two the Padres bats would stay hot as the would get to expos early by getting six in the second and five in the third and finish it off with one in the fourth for the 12-0 win in five innings. Leading the way offensively for Padres would Eric Bell with a home run and Joey Painter with a three-hit game. On the mound Matt Rivers would give up just three hits and strike out two. With the sweep, the Padres improve to 5-5 while the Expos fall to 7-3. Gallery

The Chiefs would get on the board with a 2 run rbi single by Kasey Favreau for the 2-0 lead. The Eagles would answer back to tie it at the top of the third at 2. Although at the bottom of third the Chiefs would get four runs to get the 6-2 lead. Then in the fourth inning, the Eagles would cut the lead in half at 6-4. Then in the seventh inning, the Eagles would get 1 and leave the baseloads as the Chiefs would get the 6-5 victory. The Cougars would get the opening shot with two runs in the first to take 2-0 lead. Then over the remaining six innings Kasy Favreau would quite the Cougars and the Chiefs would get five unanswered runs. The would get one back in the third on Brady Burleigh's RBI double to make it 2-1. Then in fourth the big shot would be made on Tanner Rascoe's three-run homer to give the Chiefs a 4-2 lead. Then in the sixth inning, the Chiefs would add an insurance run on Austin Velie's RBI single. In getting the win for the Chiefs Kasey Favreau would go the distance striking out five, five hits and four walks. The Chiefs will play Wednesday for the Section VII championship. Gallery

The Timberjaxxs would have a come from behind win in game 1 7-4. Then in game two the Padres would hold on for the 4-3 victory. In-game one the Timberjaxxs would get the early 1-0 lead in the first. The Padres would come back and get three in third to take the 3-1 lead. The Padres would add another in the fifth for the 4-1 lead. The Timberjaxxs would start there comeback by getting one in the sixth to make it 4-2. Then in the seventh inning the wheels would come off for the Padres and the Timberjaxxs bats woke up and they got 5 runs to get the 7-4 win. In the winning effort, DJ Barber would go six innings striking five for the victory. In-game two the Padres would get the 4-3 victory with again some late-game drama by getting two in the sixth to take the lead. The Flyers would tie it back up with one in the second and third. The Huskie bats would come alive in the fourth with four runs to take the 7-3 lead. Then in the sixth, they would get one more for the 8-3 lead. Then in the top of seventh errors would cost the Huskies as they would allow the Flyers to tie it up at eight. In the fifth, the Saints would do there best to make a comeback it would fall short though as they would make it 6-5 Bulldogs take game one. In the second game, the Saints would get out to the 1-0 lead after the first. Then in the second inning, the Saints would get four while the Bulldogs would get one to make it 5-1. Then in the third, the Bulldogs would get two more to make it 5-3. Then in the fourth, the comeback would be complete as they would get four more to take the 7-5 lead. Then in the fifth, they would get three more while the Saints could just mustard one as the Bulldogs would get the 10-6 win. The first game would be close throughout the Padres would win 6-3 in nine innings. The Cardinals would get the early 1-0 lead in the second. Then the Padres would answer back with two in the third. Then the Cardinals would get 1 in the 4th to tie the game two. The two teams would trade runs in the 5th to make it 3-3. That's where the game would remain until the ninth when the Padres would open up the offense and the cardinals would have costly miscues and score three runs and get the 6-3 victory. The Panther bats would come alive in the fourth though as they would get seven runs to make it the 13-7 final. Getting the win for the Huskies would be Derek Juntunen. In-game one of the doubleheaders the Miners would take a 2-0 lead after the second. The Padres would answer back with one in third but the Miners would get three in the bottom to have the 5-1 lead. Then in the fourth, the Miners would get two more for the 7-1 lead. The Padres would try to make the late-game comeback but it just comes up short getting four runs in the last two innings for the 7-5 Miners win. In the winning effort, Justin Besaw would strike out four. In-game the Padres would just have no answers for the Miners as they would get 9 unanswered runs in the first six innings. Then in the seventh Padres would avoid the shutout by getting two runs for the 9-2 final. In the winning effort, Chris Van Houten would strike out 10 in 6 innings of shutout ball.

Malone's Derek Juntunen (6) delivers the bender for a strike. The Malone Huskies would come from behind to get the 7-6 win in extra innings over the Ogdensburg Blue Devils. Ogdensburg would get on the board first with one in the first, three in the third and one in the fourth for the 5-0 lead before the Huskies would get on the board. Then in the fifth, the Huskies would get two runs the Blue Devils would get one in the sixth. Then at the bottom of the inning, the Huskies would explode for four to take the 6-5 lead. Then at the top of seventh the Blue Devils would get one to force extras. Then at the bottom of the eighth Brandon Welch would have the walk-off single to get the 7-6 victory. Getting the win for the Huskies would be Derek Juntunen striking out two. With the Huskies improve there record to 4-0 on the season. Gallery

The Hornets would get the early 1-0 lead The Chiefs would answer right back to take the 2-1 on a two rbi single. Then in the fifth inning to give the Chiefs the win. Chateaugay Bulldogs Matthew Swanston cuts off the slow roller and fires across the infield for the out at first. The Chateaugay Bulldogs would fall 4-2 in their season opener to the Lisbon Golden Knights. The Bulldogs would give up two runs in the first inning and just couldn't claw there way back into the game. The Bulldogs would have some errors in the middle that would cost them a chance. With the defeat, the Bulldogs fall to 0-1 on the season. Gallery

In-game 1 miscues would cost the Cardinals as they would get defeated 10-4. Although in-game 2 they would fight and scrap to get the 11-9 win. In that game, the Cardinals would come from behind twice to get the win. With the victory, the Cardinals record would go to 14-13 on the season. Gallery

SUNYAC Baseball: Plattsburgh State Cardinals Vs New Paltz Hawks March 24 2012

Plattsburgh State's Pat Shaughnessy (22) with the sliding stop at second base for the out. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would split a doubleheader with the New Paltz Hawks. The Hawks would win the opener 5-0. Then the Cardinals would come from behind to game two 3-2. In the first game, it would be scoreless until the seventh inning when the Hawks would strike for five runs and hold on for the win. Then in the second game, the Cardinals would get the early 1-0 lead on Damian Tyler's Sacrifice Fly scoring Kris Cauchon. The Hawks would gain the lead 2-1 with two runs in the third inning. Where the score would remain until the eighth inning when the Cardinals would two runs. The game would be tied to Mike Vaques RBI single. Then the game-winner would come on Pedro Gonzalez's RBI single. In the winning effort, Marc Plante would go seven strong innings giving up 2 runs scattering 9 hits and striking out 3. With the split, the Cardinals improve to 11-7 overall and 4-2 in the SUNYAC's. Gallery
