ECAC West Semi-Finals: #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals Vs #4 Utica Pioneers March 8 2014

Plattsburgh State's Bridget Bailsey (21) taps in the rebound into the wide-open net to give the Cardinals the 2-0 lead. The #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #4 Utica Pioneers in the ECAC-West Semi-finals at Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena. The game would remain scoreless until the 11:09 mark of the first when Alyssa Parke would light the lamp on the power-play to make it 1-0 Cardinals. The Cardinals would extend there lead to 2-0 just over two minutes later on Bridget Bailsey's goal. Then with just 21 seconds left in the first the Cardinals would make it 3-0 on Shannon Stewarts goal. The game would stay there till 1:50 of the third period when Morgan MacInnis would score to make it 4-0 Cardinals. The Cardinals would extend there lead to 5-0 on Tyne Grove's goal at 6:03. The Cardinals would put the final touches on it just over a minute later on Jordan Caldwell's goal to make it 6-0. The Pioneers would avoid the shutout with just under three minutes left on Mackenzie Roy's goal. As the Cardinals get the 6-1 victory and advance to the ECAC-West Championship and take on #2 Elmira with the title on the line. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Shannon Stewart (18) comes in on the break and puts the puck past the goalie for the score. The #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #4 Utica Pioneers in the ECAC-West Semi-finals at Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena. Plattsburgh State's Sydney Aveson (33) would make the blocker save for one of her thirteen saves on the night. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Utica Pioneers in ECAC-West women's hockey. The Cardinals get off to a quick start when Teal Gove would score just 18 seconds in to make it 1-0 Cardinals. The Pioneers would answer back at 8:18 of the first when Brittany Dellechiaie scores to tie the game at 1. Then just 1:38 into the second period the Pioneers would take a 2-1 lead on Mary Fusco's power-play goal. The Pioneers would take a 3-1 lead at 3:58 of the second period when Louise Steele Norton scores. That is where the game would remain until the 7:58 of the third period when the Cardinals would cut the deficit to one on Chelsea VanGlahan's goal. Then with 4:30 left in the game, Shannon Stewart would tie the game up for the Cardinals at three. The teams would go to the overtime and nothing would be resolved and the times would get a draw. With the draw, Sydney Aveson would stop 13 of 16 shots as the Cardinals go to 19-0-2. Gallery

The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Utica Pioneers in ECAC-West women's hockey. Megan would help the Cardinals to the victory as she would get two goals on the evening and get an assist on the game-winning goal. The Cardinals would win the game 3-2. Although with the win and RIT beating Elmira the Cardinals would settle for #2 seed in the upcoming conference tournament as RIT would win out on the tiebreaker. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Brittany Meade (18) tries to stuff the puck by the Utica goaltender that just wouldn't get in. The #1 seeded Cardinals would get the impressive 5-2 victory over the Pioneers to advance to conference finals against conference rival Elmira. The teams traded goals until midway through the 2nd period when the Cardinals would score to make it 3-2 and would not look back from there and go on for the victory. Gallery
