Saranac's (10) drives hard to the basket and lays it off the window for the score on the way to the win. It would be the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class B Semi-finals as the #1 Saranac Chiefs would host the #4 Beekmantown Eagles for the right to play in the finals next Saturday, March 5th at Clinton Community College. The game would start off good for the top-seeded Chiefs as they would have the 16-9 lead after the first quarter. The Chiefs would continue to pull away through the second quarter but the Eagles would do their best to keep it close with a 10-6 Chiefs quarter and 26-15 lead at the break. When the teams would come back for the third quarter the Eagles would come soaring back with a 25-16 quarter making it a slim 42-40 lead for the Chiefs as they headed into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Chiefs shut down defense would return with a 17-4 quarter and end up cruising to the 59-44 win. In the winning effort, they will advance to the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference championship march at Clinton Community College on March 5th against Northeastern Clinton Cougars. Gallery

Northeastern Clinton sophomore Bailee Lafountain drives to the basket past Plattsburgh freshman Bailey Hewson. Northeastern Clinton rode a strong second and third quarter performance to a 49-29 victory over Plattsburgh High School Friday in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference action.

Both teams got off to a slow start, with neither scoring before the midpoint of the opening quarter. The Hornets got on the board first with a pair of free throws from junior Calli Fitzwater, but it was the Cougars who ended the opening frame with a 9-5 lead.

Northeastern Clinton pulled away in the second, led by a nine-point quarter for sophomore Desiree Dubois.

The score at the halftime break saw the Cougars with a 21-9 lead. Plattsburgh junior Cora Long put up nine points of her own in the third quarter, but the Hornets were never able to pull back the Cougars' lead.

Dubois led Northeastern Clinton's offense with 20 points, ahead of 13 points from sophomore Bailee Lafountain. Long's 16 points led the Hornets in the loss, followed by Fitzwater with 6 points.

Both Dubois and Long knocked down four shots each from the three-point arc. Gallery

Beekmantown's Payton Parliament (13) breaks in and gets fouled by Plattsburgh's Bailey Hewson (10) as she drives to the hoop for the score. We would have a crosstown Champlain Valley Athletic Conference game as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host 8-0 lead. In the second quarter rival the Beekmantown Eagles. The game would start off great for the visiting Eagles as they would have shutout first quarter at 8-0 Eagles. In the second quarter, it would be more of the same as the Eagles did their best to keep the shutout and have an impressive 16-2 lead at the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter from the break they would bring their offensive's as the Eagles would win the quarter and take a 28-12 lead into the fourth and final quarter. In that fourth quarter, the teams would be all equal with an 11-11 quarter for the 39-23 victory. In the winning effort, the Eagles go to 10-9 while the Hornets fall to 6-11 on the season. Gallery

Schroon Lake's (14) with the three from the wing to help her team take the lead. It would be an interconference game this even as the Schroon Lake Wildcats from the Mountain Valley Conference would travel to Plattsburgh and take on the Hornets from the Champlain Valley Conference. The game would start off great for the road Wildcats as they would jump out to a 15-5 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Hornets would start to get their legs and shut down the Wildcats with an 8-3 quarter although they would still trail 18-13 at the intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter the teams would be fairly evenly matched as the Hornets would win slightly 13-11 with the Wildcats still leading 29-27 as they headed to the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Hornets would start to run out of gas and the wildcats would get 14-9 quarter and a 43-36 victory. In the winning effort, the Wildcats go to 10-4 while the Hornets fall to 6-10 on the season. Gallery

Plattsburgh's Bailey Hewson (10) takes flight and lays it off the window for the score. It would be a Champlain Valley Athletic Conference matchup between the host Plattsburgh Hornets and Saranac Lake Red Storm. The game would get off to a fast start as the Hornets would jump out to a 21-11 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Hornet's offense would go a little quiet as the Red Storm would win the quarter 9-6 but the Hornets would have a 26-20 lead at the break. The Hornets would find their game again when they came back with a 13-9 quarter to extend their lead to 49-29 to head to the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Red Storm would give it everything they had to make a come back with a 13-5 quarter but it would fall short as the Hornets would get the 54-42 win. In the winning effort, the Hornets go to 4-8 while the Red Storm falls to 0-8 on the season. Gallery

Peru's Isabella Sypek (5) with the contested jumper in close over Ticonderoga's Destiney Snider (22) for two points. It would be a Champlain Valley Athletic Conference matchup between the host Peru Nighthawks and the visiting Ticonderoga Sentinels. The game would start off good for the home Nighthawks as they would be doubling up the Sentinels after the first quarter at 15-6. In the second quarter, the Nighthawks would continue to pull away with a 13-3 quarter and take a 28-9 lead into the intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Nighthawks would keep their foot on the gas with a 15-6 quarter to extend their lead to 43-15 as they head into the fourth. In that fourth quarter, the Nighthawks would lighten up with the outcome, not in question with a 13-10 quarter and secure the 56-25 win. Leading the way on the night would be Kortney McCarthy would be 19 points as they go to 6-3 on the season while Ticonderoga falls to 5-3 on the season. Gallery.

Keene's Haylie Buysse (11) with the mid-range jumper over Seton Catholic's Abby Pearl for two points. It would be a Mountain and Valley Conference game featuring the Seton Catholic Knights and the Keene Beavers from Seton Catholic. It would be a lower scoring tight game to get started as the Knights would have a 6-4 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Beaver's offense would come alive for a huge quarter at 13-4 and take a 17-10 lead into the intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Knights would have some fight in them and win the quarter 11-2 and retake the lead at 21-19. In the fourth quarter, the Beaver's defense would completely shut down the Knights with a 13-0 quarter and get the come from behind win at 32-21. With the win, the Beavers go to 5-1 while the Knights fall to 4-5 on the season. Gallery

It would be a matchup between the Champlain and Mountain Valley as the Peru Nighthawks would host the Northern Adirondack Bobcats. The game would not be going that well for the home Nighthawks as they would be down 23-9 at the break. In the second half, they wouldn't give although the Bobcats would be too much for them on this day as they win the half 27-15 and secure the 50-24 victory and Alexis Belrose would lead the way with 14 points on the night. It would be a Mountain Valley Athletic Conference tilt from Seton Catholic as they would host Chazy Eagles in girl's basketball. It would be a low-scoring game to get going as the Knights would have an 8-2 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Knights would start to find their stride as they would have a 12-2 quarter and expand their lead to 20-4 at the intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Knights would stay hot with a 13-2 quarter and have a 33-6 lead as they headed to the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Knights would back it down with the game outcome already determined with a 4-2 quarter and secure the 37-8 win. In the winning effort, Madyson Whalen would lead the way with ten points as the Knights go to 3-4 on the season while the Eagles fall to 2-6. Gallery
