Plattsburgh State's Brian Latulipe (11)with the pick at shortstop and fires it across to first to complete the out. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would finally open up the home portion of there season with a SUNYAC game against New Paltz. It would be a pitchers duel as the two pitchers would combine to strike out ten and give up seven hits. The lone run of the game would come in the eighth inning when David Lostagilo would hit a sacrifice fly that would score Richard Guido to give the Hawks the 1-0 lead and eventual win. In the losing effort Cardinals Joe Leddy would pitch a gem giving up one run on four hits while striking out three as the Cardinals fall t0 9-18 on the season. Gallery

SUNYAC Men's Lacrosse Plattsburgh State Cardinals Vs Oswego State Lakers April 12 2014

Plattsburgh State's Joey Kromer (4) battles for the face off win at the center circle. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Oswego State Lakers in SUNYAC Conference play. Through the first 15 minutes there would not be much decided as the teams would tied at four getting goals for the Cardinals would Tom Duggan (twice), Courtney Cox and Brendan Damm. In the second quarter the Cardinals start to push there weight around and win the period 4-2 and have a 8-6 lead at the break getting goals for the Cardinals would be Robbie Ashlaw, Jack Felter, Tim Lawrence and James Reed. When the teams came back for the third period the Cardinals would start to blow the game out as they won the period 6-2 and took a 14-8 lead on goals from Tom Duggan (third of the night), Mike Gay, Brendan Damm (second and third of the night), Tim Lawrence (second of the night), Robbie Ashlaw (second of the night). In the fourth the Lakers would try and get back in the game but it would not workout as they won the quarter 3-2 but the Cardinals would hold onto the 16-11 victory getting goals for the Cardinals was Robbie Ashlaw (third of the night) and Charlie Dullea. In the winning effort Andrew Hauk would make 11 saves as the Cardinals go to 9-4 on the season. Gallery

It would be a battle of old school Yamaha versus a new Yamaha four-stroke and the rider on the new Yamaha would be holding for the ride and the win. The Snowmobile Hill Climb Racing Association (SHCRA) would make there return trip to race up Titus Mountain. There would be lots of local racers and other pro racers racing for bragging rights and cash prizes. There would be around 50 racers in 15 different classes with many close races for the spectators. Plattsburgh State's Andrew Hauk with the stick save as one of the ten on the day that sends over the top of the net. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #17 St. Lawrence Saints in non-league action. The Saints would take the quick 1-0 lead on Pierson Fowlers goal at 3:12. The Cardinals would come back and tie the game up at 7:50 on Tim Lawrence's goal for a tie at 1 after the first quarter. When the second quarter came so did the goals the Cardinals got three unanswered goals in the first five minutes from Brendan Dam, Cole Andersen, and Anthony Pefundi for the 4-1 lead. The Saints finally would answer with one to make it 4-2. Then the Cardinals would come back with two more goals to make it 6-2 from Robbie Ashlaw and James Reed. Then the teams two finish off the half by trading goals two goals each Tim Lawerence and Brendan Dam both getting there second of the day for the Cardinals and have the 8-4 lead at the break. The third quarter would be the quarter the Cardinals make there charge as they would outscore them 6-2 and take a 14-6 lead on goals from Jake Felter (first and second of the day), Brendan Dam (third and fourth of the night), Robbie Ashlaw (second & third of the day). In the fourth quarter the Saints would do everything they could to make up the difference but there 6-2 quarter would not be enough scoring for the Cardinals was Robbie Ashlaw (fourth of night) and Brendan Dam (fifth of the day) to secure the 16-12 win for the Cardinals. In the winning effort Andrew Hauk would have ten saves on the day as the Cardinals go to 8-2 on the season. Gallery

NCAA Championships #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals Vs #2 Norwich Cadets March 22 2014

Plattsburgh State's Sydeny Aveson (33) would make the glove save on the point-blank shot by Norwich's Haley Gibson (28). The 2014 NCAA Division III Women's Hockey Championship would come down just the way it should as it would be the top two teams in the country the Plattsburgh State Cardinals and Norwich Cadets. The Cadets would jump out to the 1-0 lead at the 8:30 mark of the first period on Madyson Moore's goal. The Cardinals would come right back and tie the game up at one on Bridget Bailsey's goal just 90 seconds later. The Cardinals would take the lead 2-1 on Julia Duquette's goal at 13:13 of the first. Then just about 90 seconds the Cardinals would make it 3-1 on Chelsea VanGahlan's goal. The Cardinals would strike one more time before the period ended on Bridget Bailsey's second goal of the night to make it 4-1 after the first period. In the second period, the Cardinals would keep the tempo up as Jordan Caldwell scores at 8:11 to make it 5-1 Cardinals. The Cardinals would keep it going in the third period as Chelsea VanGalhan would get her second goal of the night at 2:26 of the third to make it 6-1 Cardinals. The Cardinals would strike again at 6:58 on Jenny Kistner's goal to make it 7-1 Cardinals. Then in case, the game was in dought Jordan Caldwell would get her second of the night at 16:58 to make it 8-1. The Cadets would make the score a little better when Haley Gibson would score to make it 8-2 at 18:26. The Cardinals would answer back in the last minute on Ali Vakos goal to secure the 9-2 victory. In the winning effort, Sydney Aveson would make 37 saves on the night as the Cardinals are crowned the 2014 NCAA Champions and for the third team in team history. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Jordan Caldwell (27) came in on the breakaway and had her shoot just poked to the side to keep the game tied. In the NCAA Semi-Finals, it would be an east vs west showdown as the #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #6 St. Thomas Tommies. It would be a great game between two evenly matched teams that both would have their chances. When it was all said and down though there would just be on game scored in the game as Allison Era would light the lamp with 4:49 left in overtime on the power play to give the Cardinals the 1-0 win. In the winning effort, Sydney Aveson would get another shutout victory as she stopped all 30 shots on the night as the Cardinals advance to the National Championship against the #2 Norwich Cadets. Plattsburgh State's Sydney Aveson (33) with the blocker save that she sends to the corner as part of a 24 save night. The #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #10 Williams Ephs in the Quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament. The Williams Ephs would be looking for the upset as they would score just 1:15 into the first period on Gabrielle Vukasin goal to give the Ephs the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there till there was 1:27 left in the first and Ali Vakos would tie the game up at one. The Cardinals would make some obvious adjustments as Ali Vakos would score just 28 seconds into the second for her second of the night and give the Cardinals the 2-1 lead. Then at the 12:11 mark of the second period, Ali Vakos would finish off the natural hat trick and give the Cardinals the 3-1 lead. Then just 31 seconds into the third period Ali Vakos would strike again and have a texas hat trick for the 4-1 lead and from there the Cardinals would hold on for the win. In the winning effort, Sydney Aveson would make 24 saves on the night and the Cardinals head to the final four next weekend where they will take on St. Thomas. Gallery

Adirondack J's Austin Velie and Chris Fish would team up to break up the pass intended for Matt St. Clair. It would be week five of the second session of the Indoor Flag Football League as the Adirondack J's would play the Pink Panthers. The tempers would definitely show up during the game as the Adirondack J's would have a 38-16 lead after the first half. In the second half the Pink Panthers would do there best to get back in the battle and win the half 29-22. The deficit would just too much to overcome as the Adirondack J's would get the 60-45 win. It would be week 5 of the indoor flag football season and you would have a battle of the unbeaten teams as Kneucraft would meet up with CJ Tunes & Photography. The CJ Tunes & Photography would get off to the good start and have the low scoring 12-8 lead at the break. When the second came around the Kneucraft team would start there comeback and win the quarter 19-7 and get the 27-19 win. Gallery

ECAC West Championship #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals Vs #2 Elimra Soaring Eagles March 9th 2014

Plattsburgh State's Bridget Bailsy (21) hauled down from behind and crashes into the net as she goes for goal. The #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #2 Elmira Soaring Eagles in the Championships of the ECAC-West Conference. The Cardinals would take the 1-0 lead at 9:04 of the first on Giovanna Sense's goal. The Soaring Eagles would come right back and tie the game up at one just 55 seconds later on Ashley Ryan's goal. The Cardinals would take the lead back at 1:35 of the second period on Alyssa Parke's goal to make it 2-1. Although the Soaring Eagles would come back and tie the game up again at 14:35 of the second on the power play on Anna Tude's goal. The Soaring Eagles would take there first lead of the game at 3:41 on Erin Weston's goal to make it 3-2 Soaring Eagles. The Cardinals and Shannon Stewart would come back and tie the game at 3 at 7:03. Then the Cardinals would regain the lead at 4-3 on Tyne Gove's goal at 9:48 and from there on they would hold on for the 4-3 victory. In the winning effort, Sydney Aveson would make seventeen saves as the Cardinals now head to the NCAA Tournament for another run at a national title. Gallery
