Plattsburgh State's Mikayla Manalo with the flip toss at second on the grounder to get the out at first. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals Softball team would be in action this afternoon as they would have a nonconference doubleheader against the St Lawrence Saints at Cardinals Park. In the opening game of the doubleheader, the Cardinals would break the 3-3 tie on a pair of base hits from Golino and Diller to take the 5-3 lead. Then in the sixth inning, Cardinals Golno would hit a three-rbi double to give the Cardinals the 8-3 lead and the eventual victory. In the second game of the doubleheader in the fourth inning, the Cardinals would explode with five runs on three base hits from Palmer, Persampir, and Torres and take a 7-2 lead. In the sixth inning, the Saints would strike for two runs to make it an 8-4 game. Although in the bottom of the inning, the Cardinals would end the Saints thought of a comeback as the Cardinals would make it a five-run lead again on the Gonzales fielder's choice and secure the 9-4 victory. With the sweep on the afternoon, the Cardinals go to 13-3 on the season. Gallery

#9 Cornell Big Red Vs St. Lawrence Saints - ECAC Men's Hockey - February 9th 2019

Goal

Cornell's Morgan Barron (27) with the goal on the rebound. The #9 Cornell Big Red would host the St. Lawrence Saints in ECAC Hockey action at Lynah Rink in front of just over 3900 fans. Michael Regush would give the Big Red the early 1-0 lead five minutes into the game on the power play. Then at the ten minute mark of the first period the Big Red would extend there lead to 2-0 on another powerplay goal from Morgan Barron. The game would remain there til the 11 minute mark of the second period when St. Lawrence's Andrew Mcintyre would light the lamp to cut the lead in half at 3=1. The Big Red would regain the two goal lead with 4 minutes left in the second period on Mitch Vanderlaan goal to make it 3-1. Although that would be all from the Saints as the Big Red hold on for the 3-1 victory. In the winning effort Cornell goes to 15-6-2 on the season as Matthew Galajda makes 20 saves in the shutout victory. Gallery

The #9 Cornell Big Red would host the St. Lawrence Saints in ECAC Hockey action at Lynah Rink in front of just over 3900 fans. Plattsburgh State's Fumiya Nakano (24) delivers the fastball for the strikeout. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would face fellow North Country foe the St. Lawrence Saints in non-league action. The Saints would take the early 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI single. The Cardinals would come back in the fourth with two runs on a pair of RBI singles to make it 2-1 cardinals. Although from on the Saints would be in control as they would get ten unanswered runs and get the 12-2 victory. In the losing effort, Jake Tolosky would lead the way going 2 for 4 as the Cardinals fall to 3-21 on the season. Gallery.

The Cardinals and Saints would be deadlocked after the 1st quarter tied at three and getting goals for the Cardinals would be Ryan Hubbard, Mitchell Labianca, and Brendan Damm. In the second quarter, the Saints would start to take command of the game outscoring the Cardinals 5-0 to take at 8-3 lead at intermission. The Saints would win the third quarter 2-1 to have a 10-4 lead the lone Cardinals goal would be Ryan Hubbard's second goal of the night. In the fourth quarter, the Cardinals would try to do there best but it would be too little too late as they would outscore the Saints 3-1 with goals coming from Mike Gay, Patrick Nash and Brendan Damm second of the night to make the final score 11-7. The Cardinals would come back and tie the game up at 7:50 on Tim Lawrence's goal for a tie at 1 after the first quarter. When the second quarter came so did the goals the Cardinals got three unanswered goals in the first five minutes from Brendan Dam, Cole Andersen, and Anthony Pefundi for the 4-1 lead. The Saints finally would answer with one to make it 4-2. Then the Cardinals would come back with two more goals to make it 6-2 from Robbie Ashlaw and James Reed. Then the teams two finish off the half by trading goals two goals each Tim Lawerence and Brendan Dam both getting there second of the day for the Cardinals and have the 8-4 lead at the break. The third quarter would be the quarter the Cardinals make there charge as they would outscore them 6-2 and take a 14-6 lead on goals from Jake Felter (first and second of the day), Brendan Dam (third and fourth of the night), Robbie Ashlaw (second & third of the day). In the fourth quarter the Saints would do everything they could to make up the difference but there 6-2 quarter would not be enough scoring for the Cardinals was Robbie Ashlaw (fourth of night) and Brendan Dam (fifth of the day) to secure the 16-12 win for the Cardinals. The #10 Clarkson Golden Knights would host crosstown rival the St. Lawrence Saints in ECACHL action in front of the third biggest Cheel Arena crowd at 3,965. The Saints would get the first goal of the game on the power-play from Jeremy Wick at 6:30 of the first. The Golden Knights would answer and tie the game up at 9:28 of the first on a TJ Moor power-play goal. The Golden Knights would take the lead at 2-1 on Simon Bessette's goal at 14:25 of the first. Then in the last minute of the first Jeremy Wick would get his second power-play goal of the night to tie the game at 2. That is where the game would stay till the last minute of the second period when the Saints would take the 3-2 lead on Matt Carey's goal. Then at 6:09 of the third period Clarkson's Jarrett Burton would tie the game at three. Then on the power-play Jeff DiNallo would give the Golden Knights the 4-3 lead at 10:57. Then just over 30 seconds later the Golden Knights would extend there lead to 5-3 on Troy Joseph's goal. The Saints wouldn't go quite though as Matt Carey would get his second of the night to make it 5-4 with two minutes left in the game. The Golden Knights would hold on from there for the 5-4 win.
