It would be a matchup inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Saranac Lake Red Storm. It would be a tight game throughout the first quarter and the Hornets would have a slim 13-12 after the first. In the second quarter, the game would still be a see-saw affair but the Hornets would win the quarter slightly at 16-12 and take the 29-24 lead into the halftime break. When the teams would return for the third the Red Storm would make the adjustments and come out rolling and win the quarter 18-12 and take the slim one-point lead into the fourth quarter at 42-41. In that fourth quarter, the Red Storm would stay hot and pull away with a 19-12 quarter to secure the 61-53 victory. In the winning effort, the Red Storm go to 10-7 on the season and will next travel to Northern Adirondack Bobcats next week as the season starts to come to a close. While the Hornets fall to 4-11 and will look to right the ship as they head to Saranac on Friday and meet up with the Chiefs. Gallery

Plattsburgh's Michael Phillips (2) with the mid range jumper over a couple of defenders for the score. It would be a matchup inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Saranac Lake Red Storm. It would be a tight game throughout the first quarter and the Hornets would have a slim 13-12 after the first. In the second quarter, the game would still be a see-saw affair but the Hornets would win the quarter slightly at 16-12 and take the 29-24 lead into the halftime break. Plattsburgh's Michael Phillips (2) slides around the defender as he drives to the basket and lets it off the window for the score. It would be the classic rivalry inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Peru Nighthawks in Boy's Basketball action. Both teams were looking for their first win of the season inside the conference didn't make the competition any less exciting. It would start off great for the home Hornets as their offense was firing on all cylinders and would have a 24-10 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the teams would be more equal although the Hornets would still be able to extend their lead with a 13-9 quarter and take a 37-19 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half the offense for the Hornets would stay hot as they would have a 19-11 quarter and take the commanding lead into the 4th quarter at 56-30. In the fourth quarter, the Hornets would take their foot off the gas as they would finish out the game with an 11-9 quarter for the Nighthawks but the Hornets would have a comfortable lead and get the 65-41 victory. In the winning effort, the Hornets go to 3-6 on the season as they travel to Ausable Valley on Friday as the Nighthawks fall to 1-9 on the season. Gallery

Plattsburgh's Jace Lacey (21) comes in on the breakaway and flips it over the goalie for the goal. Today, it would be an interstate game as the Rice Memorial Knights would come across Lake Champlain and face off with the Saranac Chiefs at Ameri-can North Sports Complex. The game would start off well for the home Chiefs as they would get on the board 36 seconds into the game on a breakaway goal from Landen Duprey and that is where the first period would end as it would be the only goal of the period. It would take all the way to the 14-minute mark if there were another goal in the second period. The Chiefs would find the net on a 5x3 powerplay goal by Ashtyn Caitlin as the Chiefs make it a 2-0 game. Then with 54 seconds left in the second period, the Chiefs would take control of the game with a goal from Adrian Barnes to make it 3-0. In the third period, the Saranac Chiefs' defense would stand tall hold the Knights' offense in check, and even kill a couple of penalties as they would secure the 3-0 victory. Joey Mitchell would make 44 saves for the shutout in the winning effort as they went to 5-1-2 on the season. The Chiefs will be back in action at the Ameri-can North Arena as they take on the Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers in conference action. Gallery

Plattsburgh's Brandon Calkins (12) crashes into the goalie on the breakaway and scores to give the team the lead. It would be a nonleague matchup featuring section vii and section x as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Tupper Lake Lumberjacks in Boy's Hockey action. The Plattsburgh Hornets would get the game's opening goal in the early stages of the period and take the 1-0 lead. Then in the final three minutes of the period, the Lumberjacks would tie the game at one. The game would stay there til the 7:30 mark of the second period when the Hornets would regain the lead on the Jace Lacey goal at 2-1. However, the Lumberjacks would fight back and tie the game up at 2 in the final 90 seconds of the period. Then it would be onto the high offense third period where the teams would combine for seven goals. The Lumberjacks would strike first at the 1:29 mark and take the 3-2 lead. Although the lead would be short-lived as the Hornets and Jace Lacey would answer right back 19 seconds later and tie the game at three. Then in a matter of 45 seconds, the Lumberjacks would score twice and take the 5-3 lead. Although the Hornets wouldn't be done as they would score three goals in the final 7 minutes all from Brendan Calkins to secure the 6-5 Hornets win. In the winning effort, the Hornets go to 2-3 while the Lumberjacks fall to 1-8 on the season. Gallery

It would be a matchup inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the Plattsburgh Hornets at 1-5 would host the Moriah Vikings at 2-0 in their last game before the Christmas break and the Hornets would be looking to build off their first win of the year from over the weekend. The game would start off well for the visiting Vikings as they would have an 18-13 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the teams would stay tight although the Vikings would win the quarter slightly at 10-8 and take a 28-21 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half it would be more of the same for the Vikings as the Hornets would do their best to stay within striking distance with a 14-9 quarter for the Vikings as they would have a 42-30 lead as they went into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the offenses would step up on both sides as the Vikings would win the quarter at 19-12 and secure the 61-42 win. In the winning effort, the Vikings would stay perfect on the season at 3-0 while the Hornets fall to 1-6 on the season. Gallery

It would be the battle of the Saranac river as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Saranac Chiefs in CVAC action as both teams were looking to get their first win of the season. The first quarter would definitely be a feeling-out period as it would be locked up at eight at the end of the first quarter. Although in the second quarter the Chiefs would start to find their stride as they would go on a 16-4 run for the quarter and take a 24-12 lead into the locker room. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Hornets would try their best to get back in the game with a run of their own in the quarter with a 15-8 quarter and trail 32-27 into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Chiefs would get back on track and hold the Hornets in check with an 11-10 quarter and secure the 43-37 victory. In the winning effort, Sebastian Dandrow-Pellerin would lead the way with 11 points as the Chiefs gets their first win of the season. As the Hornets would fall to 0-4 on the season and Cayden Williams would all scorers on the night with fifteen points. Gallery
