The Cardinals would get the scoring starting with Kevin Emmerling (25) with the goal at 4:24 mark of the first period. The game would remain there till the last minute of the period when Morrisville's Darren Young would score to make it 1-1. Then at the 5:31 mark of the second period, Plattsburgh's Anthony Calabrese would score to make it 2-1. Then at the 15:04 mark of the second period, Joel Santino would tie the score up again for Morrisville at 2. Then in the span of 1:30 in the third period Michael Cassidy would score twice including a shorthanded goal to give the Cardinals the 4-2 lead. Then with just over two minutes left Kevin Emmerling would score on the powerplay to give the Cardinals the 5-2 lead and eventual win. It would be be looking like it was going to be a scoreless first until the Mustangs took 1-0 lead with 1:02 left in the period on the Zach Baker goal. When the teams came back for the second period the Cardinals would waste no time in tying the game up on Mark Constantine's goal 20 seconds into the period. Then at the 7:23 mark of the period, the Cardinals would take the 2-1 lead on the Michael Radisa goal. Then at the 16:52 mark of the period, the Mustangs would answer back on the Robert Molinaro goal to make it 2-2. Then just 15 seconds later the Cardinals would regain the lead at 3-2 on the Rich Botting goal. The game would stay there until the 8:43 mark of the third period when Zach Popp would score to make it 4-2. Then at the 14:30 mark of the third Joe Santino would score for the Mustangs to try and make it interesting down the stretch at 4-3. Although in the closing minute of the game Brandon O'Quinn would score the empty netter to secure the 5-3 victory. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would the Morrisville State Mustangs in SUNYAC play and also it would be the regular-season opener. The Mustangs would take the 1-0 lead on the Ryan Marcuz goal at the 10;16 mark of the 1st period. The Cardinals would tie the game up at 1 at the 15:30 of the 1st period on the Alex Jensen goal. That is where the game would remain until the 6:49 mark of the 3rd period when Mark Grace would make it 2-1 in favor of the Cardinals. That is when the flood gates would open for the Cardinals as they would score four more times. Kevin Emmerling would make it 3-1 at the 8:38 mark. Mark Constantine would make it 4-1 at the 11:24 mark of the 3rd period. Then at 14:43 Brandon Beadow would make it 5-1 Cardinals. The scoring would stop at 16:10 mark of the third when Alex Jensen would get his second goal of the night for the 6-1 final. In the win John Leis would stop 21 off 22 shots. Then in the overtime period with 8 minutes remaining Jason Docking would send the home crowd home happy with the game-winner of a rebound. With the win Cardinals will head to Geneseo this weekend to take on #2 Geneseo Ice Knights in the SUNYAC semi-finals. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Nick Jensen (14) shot on net is deflected high and wide by Morrisville State goaltender. The #8 Plattsburgh State Cardinals were upset by Morrisville State 3-2 for the home opener of the 2010-2011 hockey season. The downfall for the Cardinals would be that had a hard time staying out of the penalty box and the Mustangs capitalized with two power-play goals (2-8 on the night). Along with not being able to get there power play going as they went 1-9 on the night with the man up. The cardinals will home to get back on the right track next weekend as they will host Buffalo State and Fredonia. Gallery
