It would be the opening game of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and we would feature the Peru Nighthawks and the Boquet Valley Griffins in Boy's Basketball action. The game would start tight as the Griffins would have a slim 16-12 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter though the Griffins would start to pull away with a 13-8 quarter and take a 29-20 lead at the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter the Nighthawks would do their best to stay with the Griffins as the Griffins would win the quarter by a slim 13-10 and take a 42-30 lead into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Griffins would double up the Nighthawks with a 14-7 quarter and secure the 56-37 victory. In the winning effort, Jackson Hooper would lead the way for the Griffins with 17 points as they go to 7-0 and stay undefeated on the season as they will take on the Saranac Spartans on Day 2 of the tournament. Boquet Valley's Ella Lobdell (15) goes up for the layup and avoids the outreached hand of Peru's defender for the score. It would be the last game of the opening day of the third annual Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and it would feature the Boquet Valley Griffins and the Peru Nigthawks in another classic Champlain Valley/Mountain Valley classic. The Nighthawks would get off to a soaring start in the game and have an 18-5 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the teams would play a more evenly matched eight minutes with the Nighthawks having a slim 11-8 quarter and taking a 29-13 lead into the halftime break. When the teams returned for the second half the Nighthawks would have shutdown defense and win the quarter 15-1 and take a 44-14 lead into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the teams would play a little more evenly but the Nighthawks would still get the 15-11 quarter and secure the 59-25 victory. In the winning effort, the Nighthawks would even up their record on the season at 4-4 and will play Malone Huskies in the second game of the classic while Boquet Valley falls to 4-4 and will meet up with the Saranac Spartans. Boquet Valley's Abby Schwoebel (12) with the block on Seton Catholic's Madyson Whalen (10) as she drives the hoop. It would be game three of championship Sunday and we would be back on the girl's side of the ball as the #1 Seton Catholic Knights would meet up with the #2 Boquet Valley Griffins to decide the winner of Section VII Class D action. The game would start odd good for the Knights as they would get off to the early lead as would double up the Griffins with a 16-8 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the tables would flip and the Griffins would fight their way back in the game with good defense as they would win the quarter 8-4 but the Knights would have the 20-16 lead at the break. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Griffins would continue their comeback with an 11-8 quarter making it a one-point lead for the Knights at 28-27 as they enter the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter the two teams would fight back and forth as they would battle for the crown and with under 5 seconds left in the game Abby Schwobel would score to tie the game at 34 and force overtime. In the overtime, the Knights would be just a bit more than the Griffins as they would win the frame 9-3 to secure the 43-37 victory. With the win, the Seton Catholic Knights advance to the NYSPHSAA Class D Tournament and will take on Notre Dame-Bishop from Section II for the right to head to the NYSPHSAA Final Four. Gallery

Saranac's Caden Clark (24) with the one-handed shot along the baseline for the score. It would be the last game of the 2022 Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and it would pit the Saranac Chiefs and Boquet Valley Griffins with the winner being named the boy portions champion. The game would start off well for the Chiefs as they would be on fire and have a 20-3 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Chiefs would stay hot but the Griffins would find their stroke the Chiefs would win the quarter 20-16 and take a 40-19 lead into halftime. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Chiefs would continue their hot hand with a 23-4 quarter and take a 63-23 lead into the 4th quarter. In that 4th quarter with the winning a forgone conclusion the Chiefs would win the quarter 16-7 and get the convincing 70-39 victory. With the win, the Saranac Chiefs win the boy's portion of the 2022 Holiday Classic making it a clean sweep for the Saranac Chiefs at the Holiday Classic the boy's team would go to 4-5 on the season and the Griffins fall to 3-3 on the year. It would be the opening game of the 2nd day of the Clinton Community College Holiday Classic and it would feature the Boquet Valley Griffins and the Peru Nighthawks in Girl's Basketball action. It would be a tight game through the first quarter as the Griffins would have a slim 9-8 lead. In the second quarter, the defenses would stay tall and the low scoring would continue with a Griffins 8-5 quarter and have a 17-13 lead as they went to the intermission. When the teams would return for the third quarter the Griffins would their offense and go on a surge for the quarter with a 16-6 and take a 33-19 lead into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Nighthawks would do their best to get back in the game but it would come up short with a 13-11 quarter as the Griffins would get the 44-32 victory. In the winning effort, they would go 1-1 at the Classic and go 6-3 on the season while the Nighthawks would go 0-2 at the Classic and 3-3 on the season. Gallery
