Champlain Valley Baseball League Airborne Speedway Padres Vs Meron's Expos June 10 2012

Airborne Speedway's Nick Derochsers (7) extends completely out to save the ball from going to the outfield. The Airborne Speedway Padres would sweep a doubleheader with the Meron's Expos 9-0 & 12-0. In-game 1 it would be close at 2-0 until when the bats would explode for 6 runs to make it 8-0. Then to finish off the game the Padres would add one more to make it 9-0 for the victory. The story of the game would be Frank Brogna as he would go the complete game strikeout twelve and give up no hits for the no-hitter. In-game two the Padres bats would stay hot as the would get to expos early by getting six in the second and five in the third and finish it off with one in the fourth for the 12-0 win in five innings. Leading the way offensively for Padres would Eric Bell with a home run and Joey Painter with a three-hit game. On the mound Matt Rivers would give up just three hits and strike out two. With the sweep, the Padres improve to 5-5 while the Expos fall to 7-3. Gallery

Ticonderoga's Jordan Wood (21) with the sliding knee catch in foul terrority. It would be the Ticonderoga Sentinels vs Moriah Vikings in the title game at Chip Cummings field. The Sentinels wouldn't leave nothing to chance as they would get 11-0 lead. The Sentinels would single runs in the first and second for the 2-0 lead. Then the Sentinels would open it up with three in thrid for a 5-0 lead to break it open. Then would get a pair in the fourth for the 7-0 lead. Then in the sixth they would put the icing on the cake with four runs for the 11-0 win. In the winning effort Ticonderoga's Tanner Wright would go the distance for the victory for the three hit shutout. Gallery

Saranac's Andrew Petro (12) knocks down the hard smash to first for the out. The Saranac Chiefs would defeat the Beekmantown Eagles 6-5 ton win the 2012 Section VII Class B Championship at Chip Cummings field. The Chiefs would get on the board with a 2 run rbi single by Kasey Favreau for the 2-0 lead. The Eagles would answer back to tie it at the top of the third at 2. Although at the bottom of third the Chiefs would get four runs to get the 6-2 lead. Then in the fourth inning, the Eagles would cut the lead in half at 6-4. Then in the seventh inning, the Eagles would get 1 and leave the baseloads as the Chiefs would get the 6-5 victory. In the winning effort, Tanner Rascoe would go 6 2/3 while striking out and Ben Weightman would come into getting the last two outs for the save for there first sectional title in 4 years. Gallery

Saranac's Kasey Favreau (34) release the high fastball for the swinging struck one of his five on the day. The Saranac Chiefs would defeat the Northeastern Clinton Cougars 5-2. The Cougars would get the opening shot with two runs in the first to take 2-0 lead. Then over the remaining six innings Kasy Favreau would quite the Cougars and the Chiefs would get five unanswered runs. The would get one back in the third on Brady Burleigh's RBI double to make it 2-1. Then in fourth the big shot would be made on Tanner Rascoe's three-run homer to give the Chiefs a 4-2 lead. Then in the sixth inning, the Chiefs would add an insurance run on Austin Velie's RBI single. In getting the win for the Chiefs Kasey Favreau would go the distance striking out five, five hits and four walks. The Chiefs will play Wednesday for the Section VII championship. Gallery

Airborne Speedway's Nick Desroches (7) snags the liner headed for second base. The Airborne Speedway Padres and the 4th Ward Timberjaxxs would split a doubleheader. The Timberjaxxs would have a come from behind win in game 1 7-4. Then in game two the Padres would hold on for the 4-3 victory. In-game one the Timberjaxxs would get the early 1-0 lead in the first. The Padres would come back and get three in third to take the 3-1 lead. The Padres would add another in the fifth for the 4-1 lead. The Timberjaxxs would start there comeback by getting one in the sixth to make it 4-2. Then in the seventh inning the wheels would come off for the Padres and the Timberjaxxs bats woke up and they got 5 runs to get the 7-4 win. In the winning effort, DJ Barber would go six innings striking five for the victory. In-game two the Padres would get the 4-3 victory with again some late-game drama by getting two in the sixth to take the lead. Then we would need to scramble for the seventh to hang on for the 4-3 victory. Gallery

The Pirates would take the early 1-0 lead. Then from the fourth inning on the Bulldogs would get ten unanswered runs. As they would get five runs in both fourth and sixth innings. In the winning effort, Courtney Boyea would go the distance striking out three and giving up four hits. With the win, the Bulldogs advance to the semi-finals against the Heuvelton Bulldogs. Gallery

Malone's Devan Monnette (12) slides in to score the winning run. The Malone Huskies would defeat the Norwood-Norfolk Flyers 9-8 in dramatic fashion in the bottom of the seventh. The Flyers would open up the scoring with one in the first. Although the Huskies would come back with three in the bottom to take the 3-1 lead. The Flyers would tie it back up with one in the second and third. The Huskie bats would come alive in the fourth with four runs to take the 7-3 lead. Then in the sixth, they would get one more for the 8-3 lead. Then in the top of seventh errors would cost the Huskies as they would allow the Flyers to tie it up at eight. Then in the bottom of the inning is where the Huskies would pull it up on a walk-off single scoring Devan Monette. With the win, the Huskies improve to 13-3 on the season. Gallery

Ellenburg Center's Chief Stanley Russell & Mr. Coffee gave kid rides during the Ellenburg Center Fire Department's Kids Day. The Ellenburg Center Fire Department would put on their first kid's day it would be a great had by all with 60 showing up. Throughout the day their kid rides on the fire truck, demonstrations with the fire hoses, fire safety in a smokehouse showing kids what to do in case of fire, along with a bouncy house and face painting. The Ellenburg Center Fire Department would like to give a special thanks to all the volunteers that helped out and Dunkin Donuts for the donations of coffee and donuts. Gallery
