For the championship of the Cardinal Classic, it was a battle of the top 5 schools as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals took on the Castleton State Spartans. This would be a very rough game right from the drop of the puck. The game would remain scoreless until the 11-minute mark of the second period when the Spartans take the 1-0. Then with 3 minutes remaining in the period, the Cardinal tied the game up on Kyle Taylor's goal. The game would stay tied until Jake Mooney scores the game-winner with 4 minutes left in the game to give the Cardinals the Cardinal Classic title. Saranac Chiefs (6) fights through Malone Huskies Trevor Cooley for the Shot. The Saranac Chiefs would get the 6-3 victory over the Malone Huskies. The Chiefs would get two goals in the first from Jeff Kurz and Matt Macasland to take the 2-0 lead after one. The scoring would open up in the 2nd period as the teams would combine for 5 goals. Scoring would be Joey Bridgeman and Matt Macasland for the Chiefs and for the Huskies Tanner Studlack, Jake Henning, and Trevor Henderson. Saranac would take the 4-3 lead into the third.
