Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football Week 7: #12 Peru Nighthawks @ Saranac Lake Red Storm October 22nd 2022

The #12 Peru Nighthawks would travel to Saranac Lake and take on the Red Storm in the last week of the regular season as they would look to finish off the perfect regular season. In the first quarter both teams would get on the board although the Nighthawks would have the 7-3 lead as there defense would stand tall. Although with under four minutes left in the second quarter the Red Storm would take the 10-7 lead on a 4 yard run by Connor Hewitt. The Nighthawks although would get the ball back before the half would expire and drive down the field and take the 14-10 lead in the closing minute of the half on a 5 yard run by Jack Hanson. In the third quarter the Nighthawks offense would step up and take control of the game. They would get the scoring started just 1:17 into the quarter on a 28 yard run by Jack Hanson for the 21-10 lead. The just half way through the quarter the Nighthawks would strike again this time on a ten yard run by Landon Duprey and extend the lead to 27-10. Then with under two minutes left in the quarter the Nighthawks would strike again this time on a nine yard pass to Landon Duprey to take the 34-10 lead. In the fourth quarter defense would be the name of the game as there would be no scoring and the Nighthawks would get the 34-10 lead to finish the regular season at 8-0 while the Red Storm finish at 3-4. The playoffs will get under way next weekend with the Peru Nighthawks getting a bye and will play the winner of Beekmantown and Plattsburgh for the CVAC Class B title the following weekend. While the Red Storm will host the 2-5 Ausable Valley Patriots in the CVAC Class C Semifinals with the winner getting #21 Saranac Chiefs in the CVAC Class C Championship. Gallery

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football Week 4: Peru Nighthawks @ Plattsburgh Hornets

Peru's Jack Hanson (33) with the stiff arm on the Hornets tackler and takes him to the turf and takes it to the endzone for the score as part of a three rouchdown night. It would be the fourth week of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference season and we will see crosstown rivals as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Peru Nighthawks for the bragging rights. The Nighthawks would get the game going just 5:20 in on a 8 yard run by Jack Hanson for the 7-0 lead. On the first offensive play for the Hornets the defense for the Nighthawks would strike with a pick sick by Rocky Hebert and take the quick 14-0 lead. Then two finish off the two minute scoring outburst for the Nighthawks Landon Duprey would score from 25 yards out for a 20-0 lead and that's of the first quarter would come to an end. In the second quarter the Nighthawks would strike for a pair of touchdowns coming from Jack Hanson and Landon Duprey both getting there second score of the game and take a 34-0 lead into the halftime break. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Nighthawks would keep there foot on the gas as they would get a couple more scores again from Hanson and Duprey giving them both three on the game and 48-0 lead. Although in the final minute of the quarter the Hornets would find a spark and break out a 50 yard run and score from Gavin Labounty and breakup the shutout and make it a 48-6 game. In the fourth quarter the Nighthawks would get one more on a seven yard run by Keith Parent and secure the 55-6 victory. In the winning effort the Nighthawks head to 4-0 on the season as they head into there meeting with the Saranac Chiefs. While the Hornets fall to 0-5 on the season as they look to right the ship against the Beekmantown Eagles. Gallery

Plattsburgh's Nate Baker (2) steps in front of Peru's Collin Powers (11) with the header to breakup the Nighthawk attack. We would have a special edition tonight as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Peru Nighthawks in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference JV action. The home Hornets would get off to a quick start as they would score in the third minute of the game from Luca Meyers and take the 1-0 lead. Then in the tenth minute the Hornets would extend there lead to 2-0 as Luca Meyers would strike again. In the 16th minute the Nighthawks would cut the lead in half and make it a one goal game again on the goal from Collin Powers. Then in the 34th minute the Hornets would regain the two goal lead on the hat trick goal from Luca Meyers. In the winning effort the Hornets head to 4-1 while the Nighthawks fall to 3-1-1 on the early season. Gallery

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Soccer Peru Nighthawks @ Plattsburgh Hornets September 14th 2022

Peru's (4) with the step through on Pderu's (6) and takes the ball and heads the other way. It would be the classic rivalry in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Soccer as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Peru Nighthawks. The host Hornets would get the opening goal of the game as they would take the 1-0 Momin Khan would score in the 18th minute. Then in the final two minutes of the half the Hornets would extend there lead 2-0 on Owen Mulligan. When the teams came back for the second half the Hornets would strike again in the 51st minute to take a 3-0 lead on Owen Mulligain's second goal of the game. Then in the 62nd minute the Hornets would put the finishing touches on the game as Momin Khan would beat the goalie again and take the 4-0 lead and from there the Hornets would on for the win. In the winning effort the Hornets go to 3-1 while the Nighthawks get there first lose of the season and go to 5-1 on the season. Gallery

Mountain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Soccer Boquet Valley Griffins @ Seton Catholic Knights September 12th 2022

Seton Catholic's Adrian Pearl (12) breaks down the field and beats the Boquet Valley netminder with the low quick shot. It would be a matchup inside the Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference as the Seton Catholic Knights would host the Boquet Valley Griffins in Section VII action. The game would be tight through the first half as each team would send a shot of the post that could have gave them the lead. Although when the teams came out for the second half the Griffins would get the opening goal as Braden Liberi would beat the Knights goalie. The Knights would waste little time getting the equalizer as Aiden Pearl would break down the field and beat the goalie in the 48th minute. The game would remain there through the rest of regulation and the teams would head to overtime. In that overtime period Braden Liberi would strike again off a rebound in the 95th minute to get the 2-1 victory. With the win the Griffins go to 3-1 on the season while the Knights fall to 0-4 on the season Gallery

Monster Trucks: 2xtreme Monster Truck Racing Series @ Vermont State Fair September 10th 2022

One of the members of the 406 FMX with the step over the side of the motorbike as its in mid air over the jump. The 2xtreme Monster Truck Racing Series would return to the Vermont State Fair in Rutland, Vermont for the second year in a row and with it they would bring Battleground USA BMX and 406 FMX and the monster trucks with Bounty Hunter, Hot Tamale, Jekyll and Hyde and Scarlet Bandit. The day would start of with the two wheel skills contest as each truck would come and get the two shots on the jumps anyway that they would want and when the dust settled Bounty Hunter would get the win. Then as the trucks were cooling down the freestyle antics of bicycles with all the jumps flips and twist. Then it would be to the monster truck for racing action in Chicago style course and the finals would come down to the husband and wife as the Bounty Hunter and Scarlet Bandit would square off and the Bounty Hunter. Then it would be time for intermission where they would have more freestyle bicycles and they would also have freestyle motocross while at it. Then it would be time for the monster truck freestyle but before that there would be a stunt as the Jekyll and Hyde truck would jump over the Scarlet Bandit. Then it would be time for the freestyle to hit the track and each truck would put on there best performance for the crowd but when the dust settled the Jekyll and Hyde would be the winner with a big air assault on the course. The 2xtreme Monster Truck Racing Series will be back in action next weekend as they head to the Midwest and Eldon, Missouri. Gallery

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Football Week 1 Beekmantown Eagles @ Peru Nighthawks September 9th 2022

Beekmentown's Nathan Parliament (9) with the stiff arm on Peru's Preston Daniels (2) as they head towards the sidelines and the first down. It would be the opening week of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference season and it would start with the classic rivalry as the Peru Nighthawks would meet up with the Beekmantown Eagles. The game would start off good for the Nighthawks as they would get the opening score of the game at the 2:40 mark on a 12 pass to Zach Hunter for the 8-0 lead. Then just two minutes later the Nighthawks would strike again on a 58 yard run from Jack Hanson to extend the Peru lead to 16-0. The Eagles would get on the board in the closing seconds of the quarter on a 4 yard run from Parker Broughton to make it a 16-7 game at the end of the first quarter. Then at the 3:17 mark of the second quarter the Nighthawks would regain there two touchdown lead on a 13 yard pass to Landon Duprey to make it a 22-7 game. Then just about half way through the quarter the Eagles would strike again on a 1 yard run by Parker Broughton to make it a 22-14 game at the intermission. The Eagles would make it a 2 point game half way through the third quarter on a 8 yard pass to Evan Dixon at 22-20. With just over three minutes left in the third quarter Zach O'Connell would escape for a 36 yard run and the Nighthawks would go up 28-20. Then with under three minutes left in the game the Nighthawks would finish off the game on a 4 yard run by Jack Hanson would close out the game at 34-20. In the winning effort the Nighthawks go to 2-0 on the early season as they head to Plattsburgh next weekend against the Hornets. While the Eagles fall to 0-2 on the season and will head home to take on the Moriah Vikings next weekend. Gallery

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Soccer Northeastern Clinton Cougars @ Peru Nighthawks September 8th 2022

Northeastern Clinton's (7) putting the head to good use on the header attempt at midfield. It would be a Champlain Valley Athletic Conference game between the visiting Northeastern Clinton Cougars and the home Peru Nighthawks from the Apple Bowl. The Nighthawks would take the early 2-0 lead on the Cougars in the first 12 minutes on two goals from Dominic Falvo. The Cougars would cut the lead in half on the the Wells goal and make it 2-1 in the 13th minute. In the early stages of the second half on a goal by Simpson the Cougars would tie the game at two. The Nighthawks would regain the lead on Dominic Falvo's third goal of the game on a penalty kick in the 58th minute. The Nighthawks would be able to regain there two goal lead at 4-2 on a goal from Seanan Edwards in the 61st minute.Then just in the next minute the Cougars would make it a one goal game again down the stretch from Brown. Although from there Nighthawks defense would be up to the task and the Nighthawks would hold on for the win and go to 4-0 on the season while the Cougars fall to 2-2 on the season. Gallery

Mountain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Soccer Northern Adirondack Bobcats @ Seton Catholic Knights September 8th 2022

Northern Adirondack's Kingston Tucker (4) and Ashton Guay (3) battle for the ball along the sidelines to gain control. It would be a battle inside the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference of section vii as the Seton Catholic Knights would host the Northern Adirondack Bobcats at the St. Peter's field. The Bobcats would get the opening goal of the game in the final five minutes of the first half on the Caleb Damour goal to make it 1-0 Bobcats as they head into the half. When the teams came back for the second half it would stay tight but the Bobcats would expand there lead to 2-0 in the 53rd minute on the goal from Tristin Lagree with the assist going to Kyle Reif. Then just a few minutes later the Bobcats would add another to make it a 3-0 game on the Calvin Magoon goal from Austin Lambert. From there the Bobcats would hold on for the 3-0 victory as they go to 2-1 and the Knights fall to 1-1 on the early season. Gallery

Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Girl's Soccer Plattsburgh Hornets @ Saranac Chiefs September 7th 2022

Saranac's Oliva Davis (5) and Plattsburgh's (15) battle for the ball along the endline after the corner kick attempt. It would be a Champlain Valley Athletic Conference game in Girl's Soccer action that would he the Saranac Chiefs hosting the Plattsburgh Hornets. It would be a game that the Chiefs will not soon forget as they would totally control the Hornets as they would go on for the 13-0 victory. In the winning effort the Syndey Myers would score five goals and Oliva Davis would add two more and the rest would divided up over 6 players. As the Chiefs will start the season off at 1-0 and the Hornets fall to 2-2 as they head into the second week of play and will look to the right the ship. Gallery
