The Siena Saints would finish off the 2019 portion of there season as they host the Holy Cross Crusaders in a non-conference affair. It would be a game that the Saints would take the lead in the first five minutes and hold on from there but the Crusaders would keep it close throughout as the Saints would have a 45-37 lead at the break. When the teams came back for the second half the Saints would stay in control but the Crusaders would keep it close through the Saints would win the second half 29-25 and get the 74-62 victory. In the winning effort, Donald Carey would lead the way with 22 points as the Saints go to 5-5 on the season and Crusaders fall to 1-12 on the season. Gallery

The Adirondack Thunder would finish off there weekend homestand this time with the Reading Royals in front of 3300 fans on 90s night. The Thunder would strike twice in the first period with a pair of powerplay goals from Matt Salahany and James Henry for the 2-0 lead. In the second period the Thunder would score three times on goals by James Henry, Casey Pierro-Zabat and Matt Salahany and that would be goal 2 of the night for Henry and Salahany. In the third period the Royals would score twice to avoid the shutout and the Thunder would add one more from Ludvig Larsson to secure the 6-2 victory. Adirondack's Mike Szmatula (91) with rebound goal to give the Thunder the lead late in the third period. The Adirondack Thunder would host the Worcester Railers in ECHL Hockey action in front of 3100 fans. The Railers would get the early lead at the 4:51 mark from Shane Walsh. The Thunder would answer back at the 11:07 on the Ara Nazarin goal to make it 1-1. About a minute and a half later the Railers would regain the 2-1 on Shane Walsh's second of the night. The Adirondack Thunder would retie the game up at 2 on Jake Linhart's goal to end the first period. After all the excitement in the first period, there would be a lone goal in the second period by Railers Jaxk Standers to make it 3-2. That's where the game would stay till halfway through the third period when Alex Tonge would score to tie the game at three. In the final five minutes of the period, the Thunder would get there first lead of the game at Mike Szmatula rebound goal at 4-3. Although the Railers would rally back and tie the game back up at 4 in the final minute on the Dante Salituro. It would be the consolation game of the Applebees' Beekmantown Winter Classic between the Rye Garnets and the Northeastern Clinton Cougars. It would be a matchup between a couple of evenly matched teams and there would be no scoring in the opening period. The Garnets would finally breakdown the wall at the 8:41 mark of the second period on the Cal McLoughlin goal to make it 1-0. The game would stay there til the six minute mark of the third period when the Cougars would tie the game up at one the Lucas Bedard goal. It was starting to look like overtime until Rye's Carter Bradford would come in on a breakaway and beat the goalie with 34 seconds left to give the Rye the 2-1 victory. The Beekmantown Eagles would host the John Jay Indians in the 2019 Applebees Beekmantown Winter Classic Championship. The Indians would get the lone goal of the first period on the Kyle Petschek goal at the 7:49 mark to make it 1-0 Indians. In the second period, the Indians would take control as they would light the lamp 3 times on goals from Ethan Jackson, Mattie Wierl and Jack Browne to make it 4-0 Indians. In the third period, the Indians would add one more just to put the icing on the cake. Although the Eagles would avoid the shutout as Gavin Fessette would score in the final three minutes. The Siena Saints would host the Bucknell Bisons in front of 5500 fans at the Times Union Center. It would be a game the Saints would start off in control of a gradually pull away and have a 43-31 lead at the intermission. In the second half the Bisons would make it a more competitive game and on a few occasions have it down to a five-point game and actually win the half 40-38. Although the Saint's hot start would be too much to handle and they would get the 81-71 victory. In the winning effort, Elijah Burns would lead the way with 28 points as the Saints go to 3-5 on the season and the Bison fall to 4-8 on the season. It would be opening night of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference season and the Saranac Chiefs would host the Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers at Amer-can North. The opening goal of the game would come to the Chiefs Austin Carpenter at the 5:39 mark of the first period for the 1-0 lead. In the second part of the period, the Lakers would strike two goals from Rhett Darrah and Dustin Patterson for a 2-1 game at the end of the period. In the second period, the tables would flip and the Chiefs would score twice while the Lakers would get one. The goal scores would be Dylan Eagleson and Bailey Marsh for the Chiefs and Ben Munn for the Lakers and game would be tied at three headed to the third. In the third period, the Lakers offense would come alive and strike for four goals from Tyler Hinckley (twice), Hunter Walmont and Dylan Amell. While the Chiefs would get a lone goal from Austin Carpenter as the Lakers would get the 7-4 victory. In the winning effort, Tyler Hinchley would score twice and Dylan Amell would have 5 points on the night for the Lakers, while Erick Frechette would have 51 saves on the night. The Vikings would strike twice and quick as they would have a 209 lead in the first three minutes of the game. Although the Hornets wouldn't let that stop them as they would score at the 445 marks on the Brandt Clarke goal to make it 2-1. That would be the scoring for the first period and stay there til 3:42 mark when the Vikings would extend the lead to 3-1. The Vikings would extend there lead to 4-1 on a last-minute goal in the second period. The Hornets would do there best to bounce back with a goal by Ethan Kay in the first two minutes of the third to make it 4-2. The Eagles would get the opening goal of the game at the 4:26 mark of the first period on the Alex Brienza goal and that would be the only scoring of the first period. The Eagles would extend there lead to two on the Collin Latinville goal at the 5:29 mark of the second period. Then at the 11:36 mark of the second Alex Brienza would get second of the night on the shorthand to make it 3-0. Then with just four seconds left in the period, Alex Brienza would score to complete his hat trick and make it 4-0. From there on there would be no scoring in the third period and the Beekmantown Eagles would get the 4-0 victory. It would be an Upstate New York Girls Hockey League game between the Plattsburgh Hornets and the Massena Red Raiders. The game would start well for the visiting Red Raiders as they would get the opening goal from Megs Wilmshurst 46 seconds into the game. Although the Hornets would keep the fight up and tie the game at 1 on Ada Johnson's goal at the 6:17 mark of the first period. The game would stay there until the 5:53 mark of the second period when the Red Raiders would regain the lead on the Hannah Chilton goal. Although it would be short-lived as the Hornets would tie it up at 2 90 seconds later on the Avery Holland goal. Although once again the Red Raiders would get the lead back on a goal at the 6:29 mark of the third period to make it 3-2. Once again the Hornets would tie the game up at three with 90 seconds left in regulation on the Gillan Boule goal to force. In the overtime, it would come quickly as Massena Red Raiders Hannah Chilton lights the lamp 31 seconds in for the 4-3 victory. Plattsburgh State's Theresa Quinn (12) lays it up off the window for two of her ten-point afternoon. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Northern Vermont Johnson Badgers in the nonconference game to end the 2019 season. The Cardinals would come out and take charge early winning the opening quarter 22-12. In the second quarter, they would stay in control with a 16-6 quarter and have a 38-18 lead at intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Badgers would try there best to make a game out of with a 22-19 Cardinals quarter to lead 60-37 into the fourth. In that fourth quarter, the Cardinals would leave little to the imagination with a 22-9 quarter to secure 82-46 victory. In the winning effort, the Cardinals go to 4-4 on the season while Taylor Durnin would lead the way with 19 points. Adirondack's Eamon McAdams (34) with the glove save as part of a 39 save night. The Adirondack Thunder would host the Allen Americans in front of 2700 fans to finish off the weekend series. It would be a hard-hitting and chippy contest at times not to mention a shootout. It would start off slow as the Americans would get only two goals of the first period from Gagne and Fraser for a 2-0 lead. Although the scoring would pick up greatly in the second period as the teams would combine for seven goals and the Americans would have a 5-4 lead scoring for the Thunder is Sission, Curti, Henry, and Verpaelst. When the teams came back for the third period the Thunder would keep up the fight and tie the game at 6-6 on goals from Szmatula and Salhany and force overtime. In the 3x3 seven-minute overtime there would be nothing decided and they would go to the shootout. In the shootout it would take till the fourth round until we had a winner with the Americans getting the 7-6 win. Grand Island Vikings @ Beekmantown Eagles - December 14th 2019

Beekmantowns Gavin Fessette (25) is pushed into Grand Island goaltender Bobbie Currie (31) as the puck approaches the crease for an Alex Brienza (11) goal. The Beekmantown boys hockey team was unable to hold off its highly ranked opposition Saturday, falling 4-2 to Grand Island at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena. The game began well for the home team, as the Eagles held the Vikings - ranked No. 2 in Division 2 by the New York State Sportswriters Association - scoreless in the first period. Beekmantown added to that defensive effort with a Collin Latinville goal midway through the second period to take the lead. That lead was short-lived, though, as Grand Island scored a powerplay goal less than 5 minutes later to tie the game and tacked on an even-strength tally before the end of the period. Mounting a comeback became a more difficult task for Eagles only 21 seconds into the third period, as Grand Island captain Brian ONeill hit a sniping shot from the blue line for his second goal of the day. With 11 minutes remaining in the game, Dylan Bush made the lead 4-1 for the Vikings. Beekmantown looked to take advantage of special teams play to get back in the game, as a flurry of penalties - including a major for the board by Bush - gave the Eagles a 4-on-3 power play. A Grand Island defenseman pushed Gavin Fessette into Vikings goaltender Bobbie Currie with the puck approaching the crease, giving Alex Brienza an open net to shoot at to double the Eagles' score. That comeback effort fell short, though, as Grand Island maintained their undefeated record by a final score of 4-2 Gallery.

Plattsburgh Ethan Kay (#2) celebrates with teammates Brandt Clarke, Hayden Colburn, and Jace Lacey after scoring a powerplay goal to tie the game against Kenmore East en route to a 4-2 win for the Hornets. The Plattsburgh High School boys hockey team capitalized on power-play opportunities Saturday to earn its first win of the season, victorious by a score of 4-2 over Kenmore East at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena. The Hornets faced an uphill battle after falling behind 2-0 in the first period despite outshooting the Bulldogs 13-9, but they took advantage of their opportunities to pull it back. Late in the second period, Kenmore Easts Bryan Crispin and Tyler Laporta were called for holding and slashing, respectively, to give Plattsburgh a minute-long 5-on-3 opportunity, and it only took 18 seconds for defenseman Ethan Vaughn to find the back of the net. Exactly 30 seconds after Vaughn scored the first goal of the season for the Hornets, Ethan Kay took advantage of the continuation of the powerplay with a slapshot from the point, tying the game 2-2 in the final minute of the second period. Plattsburgh continued that strong play in the third period, outshooting the Bulldogs 14-6 in the final 15 minutes and scoring twice on three power-play opportunities to earn the 4-2 win. Gallery.

Beekmantown's Bailey Carter (10) stuffs it in the back of the net past Massena's Mackenzie Garrow. The Beekmantown girls' hockey team earned a home victory Friday with a 4-3 victory over Massena at the Scotts' Memorial Rink in Chazy. In a back-and-forth game that saw the teams combine for 84 shots on goal and 12 penalties, the Eagles never trailed. While the Red Raiders controlled much of the five-on-five play in the first period, penalties allowed Beekmantown to get their share of offensive pressure. Massena killed off an early five-on-three opportunity for the Eagles but surrendered a powerplay goal later in the period as Celine Juneau found Bailey Carter at the back door for the only goal of the period. Two minutes into the second period, Carter got her second tally of the night after skating in to support Leah Coulombe's drive to the net. Hannah Chilton pulled the Red Raiders back within a goal midway into the frame as the Eagles failed to clear the zone after blocking a shot in the high slot. Chilton's goal started a brief flurry of goals, as Beekmantown's Amanda Cayea tallied 40 seconds later to again pull ahead by two goals. A minute after that, Massena's Meg Wilmshurst brought the puck into the zone and put directed a shot low to the blocker side on Beekmantown's goaltender Brianne Knight. Knight tried to kick it wide while still retreating to her goal line, but could not push it far enough to keep the Red Raiders from once again pulling within a goal. The Eagles found themselves briefly facing a five-on-three penalty kill later in the second period, but key saves by Knight kept Massena from equalizing. Carter completed her hat trick midway through the final period before Brooke Terry again brought the Red Raiders within one. Carter took a penalty later in the period, but the Beekmantown penalty kill kept Massena pinned in their own zone for the duration, and the Eagles held on for the 4-3 win. Knight made 40 saves in net for Beekmantown, while Massena's Mackenzie Garrow stopped 37 shots. Gallery.

The Saranac Chiefs celebrate as they win in overtime with the come from behind victory. The Saranac Chiefs would host the St. Lawerence Larries in nonconference action at the Ameri-can north arena. The Larries would get the scoring starting with a goal from Noah Adams at the 4:02 mark of the first period. About three minutes later the Larries would double there lead at 2-0 on a score from another Adams this time Ashton. The Chiefs would fight and get on the board at the 6:05 mark on Austin Carpenters' goal to make it 2-1. The Chiefs would tie the game at 2 in the final three minutes of the period on the Nolan Knight goal. When the team's comeback for the second period the Larries would take control again and get goals from Brendan Phippen and Mason Frary to make it 4-2. Although the Chiefs would keep fighting and tie the game back up in the final two minutes of the period with two quick ones from Hunter Provost and Hayden Buckley. In the third period, the Larries would once again take the lead this time on Ashton Adams's second goal of the game at the 2:29 mark. Although the Chiefs would battle back and fight to tie the game at five on Hayden Buckley's second of the game with three minutes left in regulation. In the overtime, the Larries appread to have the game-winner but was called off as the net was off. The Chiefs would take advantage of it and get the game-winner on a shorthand by Austin Carpenter in the final seconds for the 6-5 win. It would be a game between evenly matched teams. The visiting Cadets would get the opening goal of the game from DJ Pauley at the 3:32 mark of the first period to make it 1-0 Lasalle. That would be the only goal of the first period and there would be no scoring in the second period. Then in the third period, Lasalle would extend there lead to 2-0 on the Brendan White goal at the 3:01 mark of the period. The Cadets would get an empty netter late for the 3-0 victory. It would be the next installment of the Route 11 rivalry as the Clarkson Golden Knights would host the St. Lawerence Saints. The game would start off good for the home team as Clarkson's Connor McCarthy would light the lamp at the 12:08 mark of the first period for the powerplay goal. The game would stay there til over midway through the second period when the Saints Jake Stevens would tie it up on the powerplay at the 13:26 mark. Although it would short-lived for the tie as Clarkson's Harald Egle would score on the powerplay 30 seconds later to regain the one-goal lead at 2-1. In the third, the period the Golden Knights would extend there lead to 3-1 on Connor McCarthy's second powerplay goal of the night and secure the 3-1 victory. In the winning effort, the Golden Knights go to 11-3-1 on the season while Connor McCarthy would have two goals and Frank Marotte would make 24 saves on the night. It would be a nonconference tilt between north country foes as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Canton Kangaroos. The game would start off good as the Cardinals would score 14 seconds into the game on Ryan Kuhn's goal. Although the Kangaroos would tie the game up at the 9:48 mark on a power-play goal by Jesse Farabee. Then with 4:25 left in the period, the Kangaroos would take the 2-1 lead on the Max Routledge goal. In the second period at the 9:40 mark, the Cardinals would score to cut the deficit to 1 at 3-2 on the Ryan Hogg goal. Then at the 15:14 mark of the second period, the Kangaroos would score again to regain the 2 goal lead on Max Routledge's second goal of the night at 4-2. When the teams came back for the third period the Cardinals would do there best to tie the game up. They would get it within 1 at the 7:21 mark on Adam Tretowicz's goal to make it 3-2. It would be game at would pit two evenly matched teams. As there would be no goals through the first period. The first goal of the game would eventually come at the 5:18 mark of the second period when Saranac Lake/Lake Placid's Dariana Patterson would score to make it 1-0. That would almost be the lone goal of the game until Plattsburgh's McKenzie Brown would score with just over three minutes left in the game to tie it at one. The teams would end up in the overtime and in that overtime, Saranac Lake/Lake Placid's Rylee Preston would get the winner on the scramble in front halfway through the game to give the 2-1 win. The Cardinals would strike again in the thirteenth minute on the Abby Brush goal for the 2-0 lead. In the final couple minutes of the period, Katlin Drew Nead would score to take a 3-0 lead into the intermission. When the teams came back for the second period the Cardinals would keep the pedal and score three more times from Sarah Wolfe, Ivy Boric and Abby Brush for the 6-0 lead. In the third period, the Cardinals would slow down and only get one from Sara Krauseneck to secure the 7-0 victory. Although the Huskies would answer right back at the 35-second mark on the Whitney St. Hillaire goal to make it 1-1. The game would stay there till midway through the second period when Reylyn Giroux would score for the Hornets to make it 2-1. Then at the 4:30 mark of the third period, the Hornets would double there lead on the Gillian Boule goal to make it 3-1. Although the Huskies would answer right back seventeen seconds later on the Alyx St. Hillaire goal to make it 3-2. Then at the nine-minute mark the Hornets would regain the two-goal lead at 4-2 on the Mckenzie Brown goal. Then in the final minute, the Hornets would add an empty netter from Reylyn Giroux her second of the game to secure the 5-2 win. It would be the start of the season for both the Saranac Chiefs as they would host the Malone Huskies. The game would start off good for the Chiefs as Nolan Knight would get the first goal two minutes into the game. The game would stay there till the 12-minute mark of the period when Chiefs Austin Carpenter would strike to make it a 2-0 game. Although Carpenter wouldn't stop there as he would strike again in the final minute of the period to make it 3-0. The game would stay there through the second period as there was no scoring.
