It would be the last nonconference game of the schedule as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Russell Sage Gators in Men's Lacrosse action. The game would start off good for the home Cardinals as they would have a 5-2 lead after the first quarter on the strength of goals from Stephen Kane, Kyle Rutland, Andrew Braverman, Zach Gill, and Donald Woods. In the second quarter, the Cardinals offense would come alive with a 7-0 quarter and take a 12-2 lead into the lockerroom on goals from Max Burgio, Donald Woods (second & third), Zach Gill (second & third), and John Eiseman (one & two). When the teams returned for the third quarter the Cardinal's offense would stay hot with a 5-2 quarter and take a 17-4 lead into the final quarter on goals from John Eiserman (third), Cam Morin, Donald Woods (fourth), Matt Trypaluk and Logan Vilardi. In the fourth quarter, the cardinals would let off the gas and have a 4-1 quarter on goals from Logan Jones, Zach Derhak (one & two), and Ryan Weaver as the Cardinals would secure the 21-5 lead. In the winning effort, the Cardinals would combine for 12 saves as they would go to 3-9 on the season. Gallery

Geneseo State Knights @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals April 12th 2022

The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would be back in action as they would host the Geneseo State Knights in doubleheader SUNYAC Softball action. The first game of the doubleheader would not start off good for the Cardinals as they would give up a rbi double in the first inning and trail 1-0. Then in the third inning, the Knights would score another three runs led by Schwartz 2 rbi triple, and make it a 4-0 game. Then in the fifth inning, the Cardinals would get on the board with a pair of runs led by Langdon rbi single and make it a 4-2 game. In the sixth inning, the Knights would take control of the game with three runs lead by Schmitz 2 rbi double, and make it a 7-2 game. In the seventh inning just add insurance on the game the Knights would get another three runs to get the 10-2 win. Then it would be onto game two of the doubleheader and it would start off good for the Cardinals as they would get a rbi double in the first by Maggiacom for the 1-0 lead. The Knights would battle back and tie the game at one on an error. Then in the fourth inning, the Cardinals would regain the lead at 2-1 on a sacrifice fly. Then in the fifth inning, the Knights would score four runs as they take the 5-2 lead led by Riccardi 2 rbi single. Then in the sixth, the Knights would add another run on the Schwartz rbi double for the 6-2 lead. Then in the bottom of the inning, the Cardinals would cut the lead in half at 6-4 on the Torres 2 rbi single. Then in the seventh inning, the Knights would put the final touches on the game with a rbi single by Kersch for the 7-4 win. In the losing effort, the Cardinals fall to 8-12 on the season. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Dolly Garguilo drops to a knee and fields the grounder to the outfield to keep it at single. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Brockport State Eagles in doubleheader SUNYAC Softball action. The Cardinals would get single runs in the 2nd and 6th inning thanks to Maggiacomo and Gentile for the 2-0 win in game 1. The Cardinals pitcher Kristina Maggiacomo would go the complete game strike out five and scattered six hits for the 2-0 win. Then they would head to game 2 as they would look for the sweep on the day. The game would start off with the two teams trading runs in the first single with Darguilo getting a two rbi single and Waite a rbi single in the first inning as the Cardinals have a 3-1 lead after the first inning. The Cardinals would another run in the second inning as Garguilo with the RBI single for the 4-1 lead. The Eagles would come back and tie it up in the top of third on three rbi singles. Although at the bottom of the inning the Cardinals would regain the lead at 5-4 on Murray's fielder choice. The Eagles would tie the game up again in the fifth inning on a pass ball. Then in the sixth inning, the Eagles would take their first lead of the game at 7-5 on a fielders choice and single. Although the Cardinals would get it back to 7-6 on Murray's rbi single. Then in the seventh inning, the Cardinals would get two runs including a walk-off double by Waite to give the Cardinals the 8-7. Saranac's Aislyn Liberty (5) deliveries the strike for the strikeout as part of a complete game four strikes outperformance. It would be a Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Softball matchup between the Saranac Chiefs and the Peru Nighthawks in early season action. The game would start off good for the home Nighthawks as they would get five runs in the first two innings and take the 5-0 lead. In the third inning, the Chiefs would start to get back in the game with two runs on Benjamin and Owen base hits for a 5-2 game. The game would stay there till the sixth when the Nighthawks would get two runs again to resecure their five-run lead at 7-2 and that's where the game would finish for the Nighthawks win. Gallery

Peru's Wyatt Premore (9) deliveries the strike for the strikeout as part of a three-strike-out performance. It would be a section vii baseball matchup between the Champlain Valley and Mountain Valley Conference foes as the Peru Nighthawks would host the Chazy Eagles. The game would start off good for the home Nighthawks as they would get a pair of runs in each of the first two innings for the 4-0 lead. In the fourth inning, the Nighthawks would break the game wide open as they would explode for a 12-run inning and take a 16-0 lead. Then in each of the last two innings, they would get two more runs each while the Eagles would avoid the shutout with a single run in the seventh inning as the Knighthawks would get the 20-1 victory. In the winning effort, Nighthawks Ryan Maggys would lead the way with a pair of hits and a 5 rbi game. In the winning effort, the Nighthawks go to 5-1 on the season. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Lent fires from the whole to nail the runner at first for the out. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #19 Oswego State Lakers in doubleheader SUNYAC Baseball action. The first game would not start off good for the Cardinals as the Lakers would get six runs in the first, two in the second, and three more in the third for an 11-0 lead highlighted by a three-run homer by Featherst. The Lakers would then add a run by McCarthy's rbi single for the 12-0 lead. The Cardinals would finally get on the board in the bottom of fifth as Lent would score on an error. Then the Lakers would add another five runs in the sixth highlighted by a two-run homer by Lauria and take a 17-1 lead. In the seventh inning, the Cardinals would find their offense and explode for five runs lead by a pair of walks by Melfi, and Messerch for a 17-6 game. Then in the ninth inning, the Lakers would add two more runs led by a Gallagher rbi single as the Lakers get the 19-6 win. Then it would be onto game two in that second game it would start off better for the home Cardinals as they would take a 2-0 lead in the second inning on a pair of rbi singles by Kornblau, Kowalowski. The Lakers would get the game back to 2-1 on a Drew rbi single. Then the Lakers take the lead in the fourth on a three-run inning led by Lauria's rbi single for a 4-2 game. Then in the seventh inning, the Lakers would secure the win with a four-run inning led by Lauria 2 rbi double for the 8-2. So on that day, the Cardinals would lose both games and fall to 10-8 on the season. Gallery

Plattsburgh's Bostyn Duquette (4) with the backhanded stop from deep in the hole at shortstop and fire across for the out. The Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Northeastern Clinton Cougars at the first game at the new baseball field as part of the Plattsburgh High School Athletic Complex. The game would start off good for the home Hornets as they would get two runs thanks to Duquette and Trombley. Then in the second inning, the Hornets would add another run because of an error as the Hornets extend their lead to 3-0. Then in the fourth inning, the Hornets would add another run thanks to a rbi single and take the 4-0 lead. In the fourth inning, the Cougars would get on the board on the sacrifice fly by Ebersol for a 4-1 game. Although in the bottom of the fourth the Hornets retake their four-run on the sac fly by Bostyn Duquette for the 5-1 game. Then in the fifth inning, the Hornets would add two more runs thanks to the king's hit for the 7-1 lead. Then in the sixth inning, the Hornets would blow the game wide open as they would explode for a nine-run inning highlighted by a pair of extra-base hits by Trombley and King as they would make it a 16-1 game and that's where the game would finish up. With the win, the Hornets get their season started off right at 1-0 while the Cougars are still looking for a win as they are 0-2. Gallery

Plattsburgh's catcher with the tag at the plate on the Nighthawk runner to cut down the runner. It would be the season opener for the Plattsburgh Hornets and the Peru Nighthawks in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference action at the redone Plattsburgh Hornets field. The game would start off fast and furious for the home Hornets as they would get six runs in the first for the early 6-0 lead. The Hornets would continue the offense in the second inning as they would get three more to extend their lead to 9-0. The early game success would continue in the third with another two runs and they were off to the races with an 11-0 lead. The game would stay there all the way to the 6th inning when the Nighthawks would finally get on the board with a pair of runs for the 11-2 game. Although the Hornets would get four runs in the sixth to make it a 15-2. Then the last inning the Nighthawks would get a pair as they made a last-ditch effort at the game as the Hornets get the 15-4 win and go to 1-0 on the season while the Nighthawks fall to 0-1 Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Lent with the backhanded stop in the whole to save a hit. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would be back in action Monday, April 4th for their 4th game in four days as they would take on the SUNY Poly Wildcats in non-conference action. The game would start off good for the home Cardinals as Melfi would have the rbi double for the 1-0 lead after one. The Cardinals would stay hot in the second with three more runs highlighted by an error that would score two cardinals for the 4-0 lead. The Wildcats would get on the board in third thanks to a Cardinals error. The Cardinals would get a solo run in the third on Wein rbi single for the 5-1 lead. In the fourth inning, the Cardinals would break the game wide open with a six-run inning highlighted again by Wein this time with a 2 rbi hit, and have an 11-1 lead. In the sixth inning, the teams would trade a pair of runs both coming by the way of the wild pitch for a 12-2 game. The Wildcats would get another run in the seventh on the rbi double by Montrose for the 12-3 game. In the eighth inning, the Cardinals would get two more runs to end the scoring for the night on a pair of rbi singles by Roman and Cergol for the 14-3 victory. In the winning effort, Mordecki would get credit for the win going five innings giving up 1 run on four hits while striking out four as the Cardinals go to 9-6 on the season. Gallery

Oneonta State Red Dragons @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals April 3rd 2022

Plattsburgh State's Kristina Maggiacomo (1) slides out wide trying to avoid the tag of the Oneonta State fielder on the steal attempt. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals were back in action the next day as they would take on the Oneonta State Red Dragons in doubleheader action. The Red Dragons would get first blood as they would get four runs in the third inning highlighted by a 2 rbi double by Serena. The Red Dragons would get a single run in the fourth and fifth to make it a 6-0 game. The Cardinals would get on the board in the fifth with a fielders choice by Kelsey Waite to make it a 6-1 game. Then in the sixth inning, the Red Dragons would add three more runs lead by Serena 2 rbi double for the 9-1 lead to invoking the mercy rule as the Cardinals lose game 1 and fall to 5-8 on the season. After a twenty-minute break, the teams would return for the second game of the doubleheader and it would once again start off badly for the Cardinals as they would give up three runs in the first inning led by Digiovanni rbi single. Although in the bottom of the inning the Cardinals would answer back with a pair of runs by Sam Gentile and Kelsey Waite for a 3-2 game. The Red Dragons would extend the lead back to a Cardinals error making it 4-2. The Red Dragons would make it a three-run game on a rbi single by Mangone in the fifth inning. The Cardinals would answer back in the fifth as Golino would score on a wild pitch. The Cardinals would make it a one-run game in the sixth inning on a rbi single by Golino at 5-4. Although in the top of the seventh the Red Dragons would put the final touches on the sweep for the day on a rbi double by Hussey and secure the 6-4 win. In the loss, the Cardinals fall to 5-9 on the season and will be back in action on April 5th as they travel to St. Lawerence and take on the Saints. Gallery
