Howling Wolf and John Dietzel carry the front wheels a good foot of the track as he looks for traction on the loose track. He would pull 270' which would give him third place. The New York Tractor Pullers Association (NYTPA) would make there first-ever visit the Vermont State Fair in Rutland, Vermont and bring four different divisions the Super Farm Tractors, Two Wheel Drive Trucks, Modified Tractors and Super Stock Tractors. There would be a total of 47 entries between the division that would take to very loose track that would take driver skill and not horsepower to get down the track in front of a packed house of pulling fans. NYSPHSAA Girl's Soccer: Saranac Early Bird Tournament Canton Golden Bears @ Saranac Chiefs August 31 2012

Saranac's (4) uses the side of her leg to settle the ball down and take it up the field on the attack. The Saranac Chiefs would host the Canton Golden Bears in the Saranac Early Bird Tournament. The Saranac Chiefs would prove to be too much for the Golden Bears at they would cruise to a 5-1 victory. The Chiefs would take the early 1-0 lead in the first 5 minutes of the game and not let off the gas pedal. The Chiefs would take a 3-0 lead into the intermission. Then in the early part of the second, the Bears would get a their lone goal to keep their chances alive and the Chiefs would get two more to ice the game. With the win, the Chiefs go to 1-0 on the season and the Bears start at 0-1 on the season. Gallery

Empire Football League Week 9: Plattsburgh North Stars Vs Syracuse Shock August 25 2012

Plattsburgh's Josh Nephew (32) lowers the shoulder and drives over the would-be Syracuse Shock tackler. The Plattsburgh North Stars would defeat the Syracuse Shock 21-7 in a game that would be very physical and have some stellar defense. The North Stars would never trail as they would take a 14 lead into the locker room on touchdowns from Josh Nephew and Jordon Keleher. Then in second half, the Stars would add on another touchdown to get the 21-7 victory. The defense would pick of the Syracuse quarterbacks three times during the night. With the win, the Stars go to 6-3 overall and 5-3 in league play. As they will be at home again next week to take on the Montreal Voyageurs. Gallery

Empire Football League Week 8: Plattsburgh North Stars Vs Vermont Ice Storm August 18 2012

Plattsburgh's Andrew Price (83) with the sliding catch on the ground before the ball touches the turf. The Plattsburgh North Stars would take on their rivals from across lake the Vermont Ice Storm. The North Stars would come in looking to avenge a earlier loss to the Ice Storm. The North Stars would get that revenge as they would defeat the Ice Storm by a score of 41-21. The North Stars would control the whole first half by only allowing the Ice Storm to have ten offensive plays and have a 28-7 lead at the half. In the second half the teams would trade scores as the North Stars would cruise to the 41-21 win. In the winning effort, the North Stars go to 4-3 on the season and 3-3 in league play. Gallery

Richard LaValley and his 1956 Ford Thunderbird with a very sharp custom paint job that just popped all over. There would be 47 cars that would participate in the Ellenburg Center Fire Department. The cars and trucks would range from the 1930s to modern cars of the 2000's. There would be many people from the community that would come and supports the event by looking around at the cars along with taking part in the BBQ. Everyone at the fire department was very pleased with the turnout and already looking for next year's event. Gallery

Car #6 with the hard hit on the green car that he lined up all the way from the left side boundary line. The annual demolition derby would return to the Franklin County there would be over a hundred cars at the derby that would be separated into eight heats including a truck heat as well. The winner if the derby would be Amanda Ashline. There were be plenty of hard-hitting throughout the night of action. Gallery

One of the light antique tractor wheels stands as he starts to dig in around the 250-foot mark. There would be a total of 34 classes ranging from street-legal truck to Super Farm tractor. There would be around 150 hooks for the day that would see the pull end early in the morning after having to wait out two rain delays. Gallery

Terry Durant and Yellow Fever dig in on the stone dust track to take the win in both of the Pro Stock 4x4 Truck classes. The annual all-night affair would return to the Franklin County Field Days in Highgate, Vermont. There would be over 100 hooks that would be spread over 9 classes. That would be seen in front of a full grandstand and the brand loyalty was evident trough out the night. Gallery

Champlain Valley Baseball League Semi-Finals: Airborne Speedway Padres @ Meron's Expos July 29 2012

Airborne Speedway's Corey Trombley (15) with the running catch in center-field to a hit. The Airborne Speedway Padres would finish off the Meron's Expos by beating them 2-0 to advance to the championship next week. The only scoring in the game would come in the fourth inning of a two rbi double by Jeff Norton. The Padres would play stellar defense throughout the day to keep the shutout in tack. In the winning effort, Frank Brogna would strike out six while going the complete game for the win. With the win, Padres will be playinging the Lyon Mountain Miners in the best two out of three series for the championship.
