#5 Northeastern Clinton Cougars Vs #2 Plattsburgh Hornets March 5th 2022
The Plattsburgh Hornets have been crowned the 2022 Section VII Class B Champions at Clinton Community College. It would be the last Section VII championship of the weekend as the upset-minded #5 Northeastern Clinton Cougars would do battle with the #2 Plattsburgh Hornets. The Cinderella season would like would continue for the Cougars as they would have the 15-11 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Hornets offense would come alive with an 18-10 quarter and have a 29-25 lead at the intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter the offense would stay hot as they would put together a 20-11 quarter and take the 49-36 lead into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Hornets would put the final touches on the game with a 16-8 quarter and secure the 66-44 victory and the 2022 Section VII Class B championship. With the win, the Plattsburgh Hornets will enter the NYSPHSAA Class B Tournament and will advance to the quarterfinals on March 12th against the winner of the sections x and ii winners. With the loss, the dream season for the Northeastern Clinton Cougars comes to an end at 9-14. Gallery
#5 Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers @ #4 Plattsburgh Hornets Champlain Valey Athletic Conference Boys Hockey Play in Game February 22nd 2022

Plattsburgh's Hayden Colburn (20) and Saranac Lake/Lake Placid's captain battle for the puck along theside boards for control. It would be the start of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Hockey playoffs and it would begin with the play in-game as the #4 Plattsburgh Hornets would host the #5 Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers with the winner getting the #1 Beekmantown Eagles in the semi-finals on February 24th. The upset-minded Lakers would get the opening goal of the game just 3:02 into the game from Brady Tremblay for the 1-0 lead. The Hornets would keep up the fight and tie the game at the 6:38 mark of the period on the Bostyn Duquette goal. and that is where the first period would end. In the second period, the Hornets would take the lead at 2-1 at the 3:41 mark of the second period on the Hayden Colburn goal. The game from there would get very physical til the end of the game the Lakers would have many good opportunities to get the equalizer but just couldn't get there. In the closing seconds of the game, the Hornets would add the empty netter from Drew Knowles to secure the 3-1 victory. In the winning effort, Ty Calkins would make 20 saves as the Hornets advance to the Semi-finals of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference and face off with the #1 Beekmantown Eagles Gallery

Northeastern Clinton sophomore Bailee Lafountain drives to the basket past Plattsburgh freshman Bailey Hewson. Northeastern Clinton rode a strong second and third quarter performance to a 49-29 victory over Plattsburgh High School Friday in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference action.
Both teams got off to a slow start, with neither scoring before the midpoint of the opening quarter. The Hornets got on the board first with a pair of free throws from junior Calli Fitzwater, but it was the Cougars who ended the opening frame with a 9-5 lead.
Northeastern Clinton pulled away in the second, led by a nine-point quarter for sophomore Desiree Dubois.
The score at the halftime break saw the Cougars with a 21-9 lead. Plattsburgh junior Cora Long put up nine points of her own in the third quarter, but the Hornets were never able to pull back the Cougars' lead.
Dubois led Northeastern Clinton's offense with 20 points, ahead of 13 points from sophomore Bailee Lafountain. Long's 16 points led the Hornets in the loss, followed by Fitzwater with 6 points.
Both Dubois and Long knocked down four shots each from the three-point arc. Gallery

Plattsburgh High School freshman Bailey Hewson attempts to cut into the middle through the defense of Northeastern Clinton's senior Elisabeth Prairie and sophomore Desiree Dubois. Northeastern Clinton rode a strong second and third quarter performance to a 49-29 victory over Plattsburgh High School Friday in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference action.

We would have a crosstown Champlain Valley Athletic Conference game as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host 8-0 lead. In the second quarter rival the Beekmantown Eagles. The game would start off great for the visiting Eagles as they would have shutout first quarter at 8-0 Eagles. In the second quarter, it would be more of the same as the Eagles did their best to keep the shutout and have an impressive 16-2 lead at the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter from the break they would bring their offensive's as the Eagles would win the quarter and take a 28-12 lead into the fourth and final quarter. In that fourth quarter, the teams would be all equal with an 11-11 quarter for the 39-23 victory. In the winning effort, the Eagles go to 10-9 while the Hornets fall to 6-11 on the season. Gallery

Beekmantown's Zachary LaPier (19) breaks and puts the goal over the top of Plattsburgh's Ty Calkins (31) for the score. It would be a Champlain Valley Athletic Conference between crosstown foes as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Beekmantown Eagles at the Ameri-can Arena. It would be a hard-hitting affair from the beginning and with that, the Eagles would get on the board first at the 12:15 mark of the first period on the Luke Moser goal. The game would stay there till the last 45 seconds period when Zachary LaPier would break in and score to extend the lead to 2-0. When the teams return for the second period it would be more of the same with the lone goal of the period coming from Quinn Brandell with 4:02 left to make it a 3-0 Eagles lead/ In the third period the Eagles would keep up the pressure and extend the lead to 4-0 at the 11:10 mark on the DJ Gonyo goal. Then to leave no doubt in the outcome they would add one more from James Burnham with under three minutes left to secure the 5-0 win and in that winning effort, Austin Dosier would stop all 15 shots for the shutout victory. Northeastern Clinton Cougars @ Peru Nighthawks February 8th 2022
Northeastern Clinton's Brayden Monette (22) would break in and lay the ball off the window for two points on the night. It would be a Champlain Valley Athletic Conference tilt as the host Peru Nighthawks would take on the Northeastern Clinton Cougars on a senior night for Peru. Although the seniors were honored before the game it would not be meant to be on this night as the Cougars would have a 25-19 lead at the half despite the best efforts by Nighthawks. When the teams would return for the second half the Nighthawks would try their best to stay in the game but the Cougars would have a 28-13 quarter and cruise to the 53-32 win. In the winning effort for the Cougars, Gillbo and Manor would lead the way 12 points as they go to 7-11 on the season. As for the Nighthawks, Samuel Godfrey would have a game of 17 points but it wouldn't be enough as they fall to 2-15 on the season. Gallery
